there is an item in the APG that causes damage to people that grapple them. I think it is the fish hook vest or something, it is just like 1 damage.

It not about my personal or your personal beliefs about it. This is the rules forum, Pathfinder clearly defines what is and is not dead.

I'd disagree with that. per real life reference, a severed body part doesn't die immediately, and would be viable if there was knowledge/technology to reattach it in time. Brain death can occur up to twenty minutes after the body's functions cease. Yes the organism as a whole is nonfunctional, but down to a cellular level, we can keep trucking a surprising amount of time. Not to mention the bacteria we're host to, that becomes our decomposers. I'm of a mind to say that you could do a lot of things to the body shortly after slaying it.

Real life =/= pathfinder rules. Per the CRB a creature dies at -HP = Con score. No ifs, ands, or buts.

Personally I dislike it when people try to use earth for why things should happen in fantasy setting, especially to make things unnecessarily complicated.

thank you for all the responses

So after watching Rise of the Guardians with my 2 year old daughter, I have found i can do a fairly decent Russian accent. If you have not seen the movie I highly reccoment it! Santa is by far my favorite with out giving any spoilers away.

So. In PFS what area of the world would most resemble Russia or atleast if i did a Russian accent for him it would not be to odd? My lore skills are fairly weak and was hoping for some help.

Then as far as characters I was thinking a big burly monk who like to "hug" the big bad guys. Tattoes and all that, again see the movie to get the full idea.

Side note: I know Santa in the Movie had a preference for 2 sabers, I could do a duel weilding Saw tooth saber build, but i kinda want a monk for PFS.

Thanks in advance.

@paladin of Baha-who? This is the one i wanted, searchable by domain and alingment thanks a lot.

@Al Baron and Dargnmoon, thanks for the responses as well but i wanted more than name and alignments.

wow quick responses, thank you all.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew of a complete list of legal gods for PFS. Preferable a text searchable one with all their domains, favored weapons, and alignments written out. I would love to be able to go to this list and crtl+F to find out the different gods that have say the magic domain or whatever. Thanks in advance.

Mistmail

How long does this last? Could you activate it and leave it on all day?

With only 10 Int, you don't qualify for Improved Disarm. You could either cut Con down to 12, or Str down to 17 to get to 13 Int. If you took Toughness and put your FCB into HP, you probably wouldn't miss the 14 Con, so I'd go that route.

If you're interested in a wandering monk flavor, have you looked at the Wanderer monk archetype for humans in the ARG? At the very list, I'd keep Linguistics maxed out to get lots of languages known; it seems to fit the theme you're going for.

Lorewarden give you Combat Expertise for free at level 2 even if you don't qualify. As far as I know Imp disarm just says you need CE.

Never Noticed that one. Thanks for the idea guys.
I will look into it, but my armor will be going down for a while at least. Plus I don't own Ultimate Combat yet, so I wouldn't be able to take the crane feat chain yet. Food for thought though.

TLDR:

I wonder how many people are going to click this link and immediatly go to respond with ZOMG L2pathfinder... I am desinging an Easter themed monk like character. I am using the term Samurai as what he would call him self. Depending on the time period Samurai were more administrator/servants to their Daimyo(Feudal Lord) than warriors.
In no way am I claimimng to be an expert in Japanese history/culutre just a student of it. The monk part is since he is a lore warden he cant wear anything more than light armor anyways, I want him to look like a traveling monk with nothing but a quarterstaff.

Stats:

Human Fighter (lore warden) Level 2
Str 18 (+2 racial)
Dex 15
Con 14
Int 10
Wis 10
Cha 8
AC: 16/T12/FF14
Melee: +7 D6+6(PA +6 D6+9) or +5/+5 D6+4/D6+2)
CMB +6(8 disarm)
CMD 18
Traits: Acrobatics class trait(?)
Indomitable Faith (+1 will save)
Feats:
1- Two Weapon Fighting
H- Weapon Focus(Quarter Staff)
1B- Power Attack
2B- Imp Disarm
Skills: 4+1 5/level
Acrobatics
Perception
Knowledge planes/religion/arcane
Class:
Combat Expertise

Equipment:
Masterwork/Masterwork Quarterstaff
MW Chain Shirt

I am looking for advice on this character. He is a simple fighter duel weilding a quarter staff. The lorewarden is going to help me with my skills and CMBs. This isnt suppose to be a super optimized character, just a fun concept of a traveling monk doing his duty.
Also he is a character that is being made with GM credits, he wont see play till atleast level 2 maybe 3. I statted him out for level 2 just incase i get to play him Sunday.

Thanks for the input!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We just started playing PFS at our home. We are enjoying it, as the GM it is nice to have less prep work needed, and we can rotate GMs with out losing character levels. When our schedule permits my wife and I can play at one of our local venues, it is nice.

What I am looking for is what are some of your favorite scenarios, either most humurous, dificult, or just rememberable. With or with out spoilers dont care either way.

Cheers!

Side note; we just did Frortfur captives and the group loved it. That was the first Pathfinder game for 2 of our group and was fun.

Edit:
Disclaimer we pretty much all the scenarios through the 4th season. One of my players has just about everything Paizo has sold. he just has no interest in Gming and briefly looked through some of them.

the only thing you have to worry about is if you are a cleric, neither you or your deity can be good to cast that spell. If you are an arcane caster you have nothing to worry about.

it is legal in PFS as long as you own the source book

Also I did not know that you could do that with the two-bladed sword good to know in the future.

I'm assuming that is so splat book, that it hurts. I try to not splat as much as possible. The number of cheese books you let in, the greater the chance the game just suddenly breaks.

It is out of the Inner sea world guide. It is just a long sword that counts as a light weapon for 2 weapon fighting. Then if you don't want to attack with both, you can just use one with 2 hands for 1.5 your str mod. Not sure how much cheese it is. Also it is an exotic weapon so you need 1 feat for it.

SAWTOOTH SABERS!!! 1D8 in both hands, plus you can drop one to 1.5 your Str when you needed.

Also so I am participating in the conversation on a semi useful level.

An example of someone swimming in armor. I know he doesn't have "1" rank of swimming, but heroes are I don't know, Heroic?

Another example of someone swimming in armor, he isn't nearly as trained as the first man, but in lighter armor. Another example of real life possible. So in pathfinder definitely so.

Didn't know you tube links didn't auto go, but just copy and paste if you care.

I guess I meant what does barding do besides slow the mount down? Or is any armor the mount wearing barding?

wow good thing as a group we are cracking down on one of the few things fighters and other martials might be good at. Now back to our regularly scheduled programming of wizards... zomg... magic... yadda yadda yadda

I am working on a cavalier for PFS. It is a Halfling with a wolf mount. I am confused on armor for the wolf. It says that he starts with Light Armor proficiency. So I just pay double the cost of a chain shirt and my wolf has one? Then there is an entry on for barding, but I cant seem to find how much armor it gives, just the penalty to speed. Any help?

sounds like a good setup. We will be picking up animal archive soon, as it is needed for boon companion in PFS I believe.

ok so 7 at ranger level 4, then 8 at ranger level 5 with boon companion? Thanks guys

My wife's ranger is going to be level 4 soon and cant wait for her new wolf. I am trying to get ready to help her with it but not 100% sure how man tricks he will have. Is it 3 plus his bonus on the druid chart at ranger -3?

Then at level 5 she wants to take boon companion to make her wolf even better, jumping her wolf to a level 5 companion, then how many will she have assuming the +1 stat is not put in Int?

you have many other house rules besides the one feat... +1 for every 5/magic, finishing blow to a boss to make your dagger better... but that's fine. its just hard to advise you when the assumption is you are using the Pathfinder rules. The farther you stray (1 house rule leads to more in my experience) the harder it is to give you helpful advice.

hadnt thought about the underground terrain... that would be really nice. Not a fan of 10 min/level abilities, was thinking of going freebooter/trapper kind of a dread pirate Roberts vibe. With many a pirate reference, I got a jar of dirt!

With the amount of house rules you have going on, im not sure what kind of advice you are looking for. I think you should sell the dagger and get a great sword, but you have stated that you cant do to your loot rules. So use the dagger?

Starting Thornkeep soon and seeking advice on a ranger. I want to duel wield Sawtooth Sabres, takeing advantage of the fact rangers can skip the Dex requirements for their combat style feats. Mostly wondering what a good favored enemy would be for him, and possibly a favored terrain.

Thx

rise of the runelords is kind of what I was thinking too for her. I was saying we wanted to avoid sandbox, some of our players tend to remain at rest unless acted upon by an outside force if you get my drift.

I just don't understand this: a full plate offers a better bonus but has a higher max dex bonus and a lower armor check penalty. I just don't get it. Watching the pictures makes this even stranger. Wearing just the part of an armor brings no advantage at all, instead wearing the full is the better deal?

It costs more so it is better? Or Full plate is custom fit to you, that's why you need to pay that extra money to get a randomly found suit of full plate to fit you

My home group is looking to start an AP, my wife wants to take a shot at GMing more than a 1 shot adventure. She likes the idea of an adventure path so she doesnt have to come up with everything from scratch. At the same time she wants to have a drive for us to keep moving, so less open sand box, more like reading a novel and they are striving to do something before its too late. So any suggestions? Any experiences you want to share? We have not done any yet, so they would all be open.

Side note, anyone done the Thorn keep as a home game, and how did it go?

thanks for the help guys

oh I does say that, and I didn't know that was what it meant. But at the bottom of my character it says Taldor 2. This is the first time I have done this for PFS and was wondering if I missed something

That's what I thought, and reported it at.. but when I checked my character I applied to credit to, it showed only 2 prestige... first time with that character. I had the option to put 4 for the players but I didn't get to put anything for mine. Did I do something wrong?

Hey silly question, I ran Murder's Mark for my family to get them used to PFS. I went to fill out the chronicle sheets and I don't know what to put for prestige gained. I must of missed it and hope someone can help me. thx

seconded the Summoner, maybe be a female gnome or Halfling. You can appear to be a small human child easy enough.

I like the greatsword:) plus I have a story im working on involving bears, and that is my Bear Claw:)

Yes I do, and have it. Plus I forgot to say my traits were reactionary and indomitable faith(already factored into stats).

This a PFS character I plan on playing tonight. I dont have any heavy melee hitters, and I plan to do the beast totem path with him. He is an invulnerable rager. Just posting to see if I missed anything or did something wrong with him.

ok that was what I do, was hoping for a short cut :) thanks

I see people posting characters on here in neat stat blocks. Is the a format somewhere that I can just fill in? Or are people just doing it the hard way? Thanks

the best part of all of your CR 8 creature who is really powerful, he is found in the level designed for level 4 party.... we had 2 deaths and 2 KOs while running away. That was with a table of 7 and 4 of the were above tier at level 5... That thing is dumb.

Drop the wizard level, take the perk to get UMD as a class skill and just put points into it and get wands of mage armor and shield. If there is a sorcerer or wizard in your group at early levels you can have them use the wand on you (at least the mage armor). Don't like alchemists personally and gunslingers destroy at higher levels, I would just go straight gunslinger and that's it.

Thank you for your timely responses. So fame is the limit on the ring for enchantment.

Then to "upgrade" to a better ring, I "trash" the old one and get a new one. Thank you

Hello,

I have a question or two about enchanting my arcane bonded ring. I know I have to be Level 7 to do it. But then im confused and getting conflicting answers from GMs.

1) What are the restrictions on what enchantment(s) for the ring?
--Meaning, is my fame the restriction or money or caster level, or all 3?

What I would love is a ring of regeneration for my mage, (90k, 45k for my arcane bonded ring) Could I ever get that, the CL is 15 or 17 I think.

2) If I upgrade my ring to a ring of protection +1 first, can I then upgrade it to a better +? Or could I just change to a totally different ring, like evasion or something?
---What are the costs in these examples if they are do able?
