Down to 0 healing surges left, used up last laying of hands so Leo is now thanks to erik's rest song on 60 out of 62hp

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Might be the last but one day I can post before I have to wait until I regain internet access so here goes: Leo shifts to F-10, divine challenges Foulspawn#3 and then bestows a holy strike on this foe

1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23
1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

Leo closes in to fight alongside Erik drawing the foulspawn's attention before it can respond to the bard's challenge.

The foulspawn spits venomously at Leo as the paladin's longsword strikes hard and true.

"Your pawns steal from the best symbols of my faith, consider the feeling mutual," Leo spits back.

Spoiler:
Thanks hope to be back by the 30th at worst case

Leo - can you post me a rough idea of what you'd like me to do on your behalf while you're away. Preferably spoilered, just to save space.

DM:

Spoiler:
Sorry about that been unable to post whilst helping out at home: Leo will focus on protecting the others where needed otherwise I'm fine with whatever you feel necessary

Leo shifts towards the nearest foulspawn divine challenging it he employs a holy strike upon it.

Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9

2d6 ⇒ (3, 5) = 8

using Paizo's own die roller to see how well it works, so thats a natural 20 meaning a base 15 radiant damage plus 8 for a total of 23 radiant damage on F#2

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Posting this now in case I'm offline when it comes up.
Employs divine strength to gain +3 damage to next blow as minor action, shift to D-12 and employs Righteous Smite on F#4: 1d20+11: 15+11 for a total of 26 if this hits does 2d8+5+3 damage: 6+3+5+3 for a total of 17 damage to F#4 aka Bob and grants himself and any ally within 5 squares 7pts of temporary hp. Oh and rolled an 18 for the saving throw.

Leo closes in on his foulspawn opponent.
"Forgive the interruption, bob, allow me to introduce you to an old friend of mine, Righteous Smite!" he grins.

"Care for some assistance Leo? It looks awfully lonely over here," says Erik as he moves next to Leo.

The bard then delivers a vicious stab, the vibrations of which, create a hole in F4's defense for Leo to take advantage of.

"Much obliged, care to guess the name of our hosts or should I address them as ... Bob?" Leo nods back to the bard.

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

I'll post Leo's next turn now since I'll probably be offline by the time this comes up

Stepping up to his opponent Leo asks before he attacks the foulspawn,"Now is that any way to greet a guest?"

Shift to D-13 and continue to attack F#4 this time with an Invigorating Smite: 1d20+11: 13+11 for a total of 24 vs its Will which if it hits does 2d8+5 damage: 3+5+5 for 13pts of damage and allows Leo to recover 7hp, he'll then spend an action pt to activate second wind so he can spend a healing surge and gain +2 to all defences until his next turn and finally rolls an 11 for his saving throw so he's no longer slowed

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Leo heads diagonally to E-14 and divine challenges F#4 before bestowing a holy strike on the foulspawn: 1d20+11: 14+11 for 25 to hit doing 1d8+7 radiant damage: 3+7 for 10pts of damage if it hits.

"Pardon my manners, I'll be your opponent at least for now," Leo introduces himself to his opponent.
"It must be very boring if all you have to do is throw that ball around when you have visitors," he asks the foulspawn.

Leo - it's a surprise round, so you can only take one action. You can either move or activate your sacred circle. Walking to J12 will throw you down the chute (dark green area under the eyeball). For now, I have placed you next to Erik, but tell me what you want to do.

Leo to revise his single action.

Use Sacred Circle

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Initiative: 1d20+4: 4+4+2 for a total of 10 thanks to Commander Caine, will move to J-17 and use Sacred Circle granting all allies within and including Leo a +1 power bonus to their AC until the end of the encounter. May as well use it whilst I can!

Leo steps into the chamber.
"Please forgive our manners, it has been a rather difficult day and I do believe you have something that really doesn't belong to you. Kindly return it before things get far worse, for you," Leo addresses the robed figures.
"Oh Kelemvor hear my plea, I call upon your aid to grant I and my allies the benefits of your sacred circle!" Leo openly calls out as he wields his sword in a quick circle that glows before expanding to surround an area around him before shrinking once more.

Close Burst 3: +1 to AC to himself and allies within that radius namely everyone as far as I can see

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

"What dailies have you got left?" Leo asks.

"I have one named Sacred Circle that improves your most basic defence pretty much normal melee and ranged attacks," Leo adds.

Sacred Circle close burst of 3 grants allies in range a +1 bonsu to their AC for the rest of the encounter

"Caine have you still got that banner Mirth gave you?" Leo asks the Commander.

"We might need everything we have left to pull this off," Leo explains quickly and quietly.

Just found out the last day I'll be able to post will be the 9th and with luck I should be back online by around the 25th or the 30th depending on no further problems. Hopefully I'll find other means to post but this is so you know well in time

Turning to Snaggletooth.
"Well as long as it isn't another trap it wouldn't hurt to take a look, well not as much as that would," he points to the scythe platforms.

"Hold on do we need to get upstairs or across the other side?" he then turns and asks.

Do I need to make a Religion check for Snaggletooth's question or Thievery or Perception to figure a way to use the scythes as platforms and how to use them to get across or is that Dungeoneering?

By the way i'm moving home in a couple of weeks so i might not be able to post for a couple of weeks whilst I try to get back online, will try to let you know closer to the time but this is in case i don't get the chance (Around the 19th of october currently)

Perception check: 1d20+10: 18+10 for a total of 28

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Leo's first save is a 16

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Just a couple of questions:
1)Do we know where the ritual is being performed?
2) If we proceed any further do we hunt down Volcanth in hopes he has the body part and after retrieving it leave this place and get as far as possible before the rest of them realise whats happened?

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Leo will use up 2 of his healing surges but before that there's the matter of those saves i believe he needs to make

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

"How are the rest of you? I have a single use remaining of my lay on of hands available if needed?" Leo asks the others.

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Leo calling upon his faith heal himself of some of his injuries before pursuing the last foe.
Moving alongside however his sword blow fails to reach its mark even as the spellplagued wounds lose some of their bite at last.

Use one of his laying of hands for today recovering healing surge+3 hp as a minor action, move first 3 squares to N-9 then diagonally to M-8 and then another bolstering smite but only got a total of 14 for that attack, however managed to get a natural 14 for the save so at least some luck there!

Leo slowly allows a very evil grin to emerge.
"Commander if you will I believe either a command to let Snaggletooth have another try on our stubborn friend or perhaps a wolf pack tactics if you will?" Leo asks Caine.

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

"Okay now I'm impressed, what the heck is keeping him up?" Leo openly asks.

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

"Well I do have to say you're much better at this than your friend here, whats his problem can't hit unless their backs turned and prone?" Leo asks the Mangler in a friendly tone as the berserk turns to head after Perigia.

"Hey Snaggletooth is it just me or has our new acquaintance here got an unfriendly interest in Perigia?" Leo asks Snaggletooth as the Berserk makes the classic error of ignoring the most dangerous member of the party...

Tried Invisible Castle today, first die roll and it went down on me, not sure if its my computer or it just plain doesn't like me!

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Leo shifts forward to flank the berserker with Snaggletooth cutting loose with a bolstering smite.

Shifts to N-12 and the employs Bolstering Smite on B#3: 1d20+11: 18+11+2 for a total of 31 vs its AC doing 1d8+5 damage: 4+5 for 9pts of damage and in return grants Leo 2pts of temp hp, his saving throw however fails rolling a 4

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

"Hey you!" Leo taunts the berserker, "You're fighting me get with the program!" he adds.

"And you over there, your friend here needs a hand or whatever that thing you've got on the end of your arms so get over here and face some paladinnic justice!" he taunts the mangler.

"What not radiant enough for you!" he adds grinning.

Free Action: Virtue of Valor on Leo for bloodying B3; Leo gains 4 temporary hit points.

I was surprised no one tried finishing off the madman sooner. I believe Snaggletooth bloodied him in the very first round. Oh well. We'll live.

No ranged attacks except for Eyebite unfortunately and can't stack temp hp since Leo still has 8 from Caine's last effort maybe add them to Snaggletooth or Brujo?

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th
Rev DM wrote:
Yes. You were one shy of bloodied with your attack. The divine challenge did the job.

Nice still kicking myself for not using Wrath of the Gods immediately, but I did note it only adds to damage rolls though

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th
Rev DM wrote:

Leo's attack takes the berserk by surprise, and it cannot avoid the paladin's blade. Yes, it hits.

B1 turns its lascivious attention to Erik, ignoring the screaming blue horror that is Brujo behind him. The bard can't avoid the dragging claws, nor the trail of blue infection that follows them.

Dripping blue ichor, B3 shifts and claws at Perigia, allowing Leo's holy flame to bloody it in the process. Perigia's armour isn't quite good enough to protect her and to her horror, tendrils of blue run into the wound.

I assume it was bloodied by the damage it took by attacking Perigia whilst divine challenged by leo?

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

"Sorry about this Snaggletooth but I think this is as good a time as any to use this... WRATH OF THE GODS!" Leo hollers at the top his voice as a silvery aura emanating from him extending to cover himself, Perigia and Caine before subsiding once more.

Wrath of the Gods daily utility power, minor action to use, close burst of 1 centred on Leo has the effect of granting leo and any ally in range a damage bonus until the end of the encounter equal to Leo's Charisma modifier of +3.

"Okay lets see how you like this!" Leo tells his opponent as he cuts loose another holy strike on his opponent.

d20+11 vs AC: 17+11 for a total of 28 to hit doing 1d8+7 radiant damage and the +3 from Wrath of the Gods: 4+7+3 for 14pts of radiant to Berserk#3, you know I really do hope that hits!

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Rolled a 6+11-2 for 15 for the OA on B2, Uses move to stand and employs Invigorating smite on B2: 1d20+11: 13+11+2 for a total of 26 on Bersek 2 (Apparently Will defence according to my notes), which hopefully hits as this would allow any bloodied ally within 5 squares of Leo to recover sorry heal 7hp and does 2d8+5: 7=8+5 for 20pts of damage to B2 if this hits. Divine challenges Berserk 3 in any case hoping to take both off of Caine long enough for him to use a potion or back away so Perigia can lay into these two

Leo barely manages to swing his blade at the nimble foe, but the combined aid from his allies reinvigorates him enough to get to his feet and call upon his faith once more his blade hacks at his foe even as he calls upon his faith to draw the ire of the other foe battling Caine so he can get his breath back as he has done so for Leo.

"If I fell this foe shift past it and let me keep the others' attention so you can help the others as you helped me," Leo gasps to Commander Caine.

"Perigia try and draw the attention of that one on the bard, let's give Snaggletooth another chance to show how deadly he is!" Leo asks the mage.

My spelling is getting worse!

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Start of Leo's turn he takes 5 ongoing and goes down to -3 toppling over, makes his save (rolled 16) if he still takes ongoing damage after this, fails the first death save (rolled a 6). Strike 1

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th
Rev DM wrote:

Polite, even as he staves off life-threatening injuries, Leo just fails to hit the Berserk.

Are you on 2hp even after using Caine's 8 temp hp?

By my count yes

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Sorry for the delay, first OA: 11+11 for a total of 22 doing 6+5 for 11pts of damage to the first if it hits, the second OA: 10+11 for a total of 21 doing 3+3 or 8pts of damage to the second target

Leo struggles to remain on his feet as the combination of blows almost knocks him completely out he knows its only a matter of moments before his injuries overcome him.

"Keep... the pressure on them..." he barely manages to stutter.

Down to 2hp with whatever those secondary attacks do and 5 ongoing Leo will keel over at the start of his next turn

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th
Rev DM wrote:
Leo smites unavailingly at M2, while Perigia sends a chilling blast into the room, dazing B2. The creature's eyes flare as she taunts it, but it makes no reply. Perhaps they cannot speak.

Ignoring the blow from the mangler Leo launches himself forward heading towards the nearest foe who is also closest to Perigia and steaming right up to it his silvery blade slashes straight at it as he calls upon his faith as he plows into his chosen foe.

Move diagonally to J-12 and then straight down to M-12 before bestowing a holy strike on the berserk: 1d20+11+2 (I believe being dazed grants anyone attacking him combat advantage?) for 19+11+2 for 32 to hit which does 1d8+7 courtesy of the divine challenge which does 3+7 for 10pts of radiant damage

"Keep it together people we've taken out the most dangerous one don't let your guard down yet!" Leo calls out as he tries to head off any of the foes advancing towards Perigia.

Sorry forgot rolled a 6 on the save so its still ongoing!

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Rolled a natural 1 so Leo fails to make use of the opening Caine's actions gave him

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Leo tries to pull a Bolstering Smite on his opponent: 1d20+11+2: 7+11+2 for a total of 20 vs its AC if it hits does 7 damage and grants Leo 2pts of temp hp, divine challenges B2 and rolls a 16 for his save

"Kelemvor grant me the strength to overcome these foes!" Leo calls out as he tries to respond to the mangler's attack.

Sorry if you repeated this but if he saves this round does he still take the 5 damage for this round?

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th
Rev DM wrote:

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

"Perigia, watch out I'll intercept as soon as i can keep ahead of them if they head your way!" Leo calls over.

All of Leo's temp HP are making me and my virtue feel rather unnecessary. :)

Erik lends some healing to the bloodied Leo with another magnificent song and then moves into flanking position with Brujo. With a deep breath, Erik then lets out a thunderous roar which is enhanced even more by the powers of his songblade. The great shout washes over M3, Brujo, and B1, but Brujo is protected by the more harmful tones.
Minor Action: Majestic Word on Leo; Leo may spend a surge +6 extra hit points. He also gets a free slide in any direction he wants.

Very much obliged if you don't mind Leo shifts to H#10

Rev DM wrote:

Leo - did you roll a save v the ongoing?

Yes had to reread the Holy Symbol of Life's daily power and assumed it grants a +5 bonus to a save just thought it applies to the first save since its an immediate reaction or something like that

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

Leo grimaces in pain as he calls upon his faith to ward off his adversaries.

Divine challenge on M1 employs Righteous Smite on him: 1d20+11 vs AC: 19+11 for a total of 30 to hit, damage is 2d8+5 for a total of 9 damage, sorry his use of the holy symbol should have gone before the save as its an immediate reaction so its +5 bonus increases his original roll of 6+5 to 11 and all allies within 5 squares of Leo gains 7pts of temporary hp which cannot be stacked with any other power that grants temp hp and Leo is currently bloodied

Leo's sword literally shines with silvery light as he slashes at his nearest foe even as he keeps on his toes as he knows another foe is dangerously near.

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

I've been wondering if Caine and Snaggletooth are reading this about moving Leo so he can give Snaggletooth the chance for a flanking attack by interposing between the berserker and the mangler with radiant vulnerability.

Only problem I'm thinking is trying to guess Brujo's next move since I don't really know how much more punishment the blinded guy can take, he needs to be taken down first before he starts adding any more to the opposition.

Just added the MM2 to the 4e books i now own, a year ago I'd have said I wouldn't have considered picking up the Fr campaign setting but it has been great fun, since next years release is apparently dark sun anyone have any views on this?

From what i recall dark sun had arcane casters as defilers since casting magic drained what little vegetation was left and divine casters were more druidic in nature, templars sound more like paladins even if it seemed more like an early midnight style setting except to take good down the evil forces effectively laid waste to the world...

Sorry to go off topic there so back to the regular channel...

Rev DM wrote:

Huge apologies everyone. I didn't see Brujo's post at the bottom of the last page and was waiting for him.

Brujo moves alongside Perigia and awaits developments.
The manglers don't speak, but seem to be in communication with each other as M2 moves to flank its fallen ally. When M1 rises, they both unleash attacks on Commander Caine, driving their long claws into him and sending the warlord reeling with the aftershock.

Leo runs forward and tries to jump across the section in front of him depicting the eye and then calls upon his faith to strike down the vile infidels before him.

Athletics check: 1d20+11:11+11 for a total of 22 hope this allows for Leo to reach J-9 where he immediately employs Sign of Vulnerability on Mangler#1 which is a 1d20+7 vs its Fortitude: 13+7+2 for 22 if flanking it counts as where he's located Caine is directly behind it just don't know if it applies in this case.

My understanding of the Athletics skills suggests it can't exceed Leo's move which because he ran 4 squares means he's limited to a further 3 thanks to his Move+2. If this hits its does 3d8+4 radiant damage: 4+8+1+4 for 17pts of radiant damage leaving it with vulnerability to radiant damage of 5 until the end of the encounter and if it misses it takes 8 damage and no vulnerability to radiant damage.

Then Leo spends the action point he regained at the end of the last battle to employ Eyebite on the madman: 1d20+7 vs will: 8+7 for a total of 15 I doubt that even comes close but if it did it does 1d6+4 psychic damage for 10pts of damage leaving leo invisible until the end of his next turn as I said extremely unlikely even if he's already mad and blinded anyway. Leo used his inspiring word for the day on Mother Bharra I think I misspelt that mind you!.
