1) Domains are feature feats. They have specific benefit which seems to not need keyword match.
Expendalbes are spells/maneuvers. These can only be found, not made.
All the consumables I have lack keywords. Does this mean they have effect whether or not there is keyword? Or is this not implemented? Are there recipes for consumables? It seems mildly beneficial to advance domain, though costly, while the keywords are useless without expendables. 2) Cheatle wrote:
The above does not mention waist or neck. Role pack included belt and gloves. Presumably gloves match gloves expendable (key 0) but what can belt (waist) match? The finger slots for rings. How are they 'fired'? 3) There two magic item slots on the paper dolls. WHat goes there, what do its key words match, and how is it activated? ![]()

![]() Early on I harvested north and east. Even though there was an escalation going on, most of the shiny rocks are True Iron. Recently I harvest to Southwest mountains. There are is largely diminished numbers of"shiny racks" unless one knows where to look. This area seems mainly copper and onyx. Has this always been such or is it indicative of depletion? My character is tending to dowser, but will still harvest whatever comes. Oddly the scavenger sites in the croplands to south west (3 hexes from North TK). has a LOT of Coal. Has anyone else noticed? I had thought that scanveger sites were for hides and wool and cotton as there are not specific harvesters for theses, unlike mining, forestry, or dowering. I am not sure of intent, but I do not see how croplands will provide a lot of cropland resources if they are giving mainly Coal. Then again this is a single hex may have been overly extracted as the only close in cropland. WHat would Lam know. I am not yet sure (or even unsure) how resources other than mineral/ gem, plant, and essence are to be handled/harvested. Plant harvests in croplands tend to be wood (pine and yew) based upon sample of one (my character has not traveled to the other one in expanded alpha). Essence are different essences, forests are different woods, rocks are different mineral, but not hides/herds, food. I do not see nor expect to see shiny rocks for mineral and gems, but where would pearls appear. In some areas, scavenger is "pseudo random" but in other areas, those scavenger site smay be the only way to find the majority resources. The again, this may be my naive approach and limited information. Still, how many cropland, swamp, river hexes are in (not in) game. Every major site is missing at least one of 4 major hexes. Many minors have only 1. Trade and banking will be important, banks more that trade, but the dutch trade system is a great idea. Thoughts. What have others found? Feel fee to tell me this has already been described in some one of many disjoint web sites many of which repeat most of same information, or not quite the same. sspitefire1 has a lot of information and does not get credit; but mush of it was down earlier and continuously by others. S7V want to be THE resource so I can not oppose indecent efforts as sspitfire1, but possibly an audit function would be more resourceful. NIW you can flame me. Last post had a lot of spelling flames. I appreciate those. Very high flattery! ![]()
![]() I post this understanding that the Alpha will have multiple contracts on me each. But better that you know than advance unknowing (vs. better to ask forgiveness than wait for permission). 1) We can have many alts.
One interpretation is that during free, an account can have as many alts as wanted. At beginning of month 2 EE must pay monthly on each alt because no alt can be played if not supported. Alts not paid for are essentially in status until paid for. 4) Explorers get month 2 free (their first) and can have as many alts as wanted to test system.
Please advise. I think this is in accord of what has been published. I thin that EE (and later must be allowed to generate as many alts as needed to investigate the system. I understand in earlier alpha only 3 alts could be maintained and that may be a restriction going forward. Even with a 3 alt limit, these should be free parallel advancement the month. For EE and Explorer, I understand a published intent to have separately paid for. And those who have DT have a second tied to ONE of those alts. HOWEVER, ALPHA do not have to pay for alts! Free until OE is the contract! ![]()
![]() This is not really about the game, just what I need to build to do this. So I think a GeForce 750 will be adequate for this. With an engineering back ground I like a lithe over design, but the information seems arcane. a 750 seems to need a PCEi 3.0 x16 interface. sometime one could have 2 with SLI, but for now I only need one, maybe. WHile some chipset (new term) would have 40 channels for 16x + 16 + 8 x, most inexpensive implementation seem to only have 16 or 2 8X or sometimes not even that. Is 750 good enough? 660, 760, 770, 780 offer more at greater price What if it runs on only an 8x? Is 8GB good enough. Is i5? How fast does it need to run? Form what I have seen at work it is marginal, but I will only be running 1 to two applications and use my old mac for teamspeak/mumble. best (not cheapest) plan is 16Gb on 2 Ram (boards) and have 2 more for 32 GB if needed. looking for 120/128 SSD and 7200 TB HD, though not sure what I will do with that. No CD/DVD as I can share that over network (but can I set up without that? -- Do I need CD to load bootstrap?). Key board, mouse, monitor are all later (can I project image over net to my current iMac? X-windows seems way to slow, but who knows what has happened in 25 years) What am I not looking at? How does one determine how much power is needed. I see no data on what mother boards need, what is need for RAM, how does that increase for over clocking (I hope PfO does not need over clocking), I see combos of GeForce 750 combined with 500 watts. Other say 700 800 is needed. WHen Do I need to cool CPU and how much. Is the need for cooling based upon design of CPU speed (that is the mother board is designed to dispute power at 1600 and if you want more you get a cooler. Where is the consumer reports on effective ness of coolers? Problem continues to be I do not know what I need. I really thin the $1900 Mac Pro that my company IS upgrading me to would work, but this i not work and that is not easy (if it was I would be in alpha now -- Yes I could budget that, but I have an adult daughter coming to a significant birthday also). SO you see why this is a separate thread. Still, I think other may be looking at buying just good enough ![]()
![]() How do these compare in range, rate of fire, stamina, weight/encumbrance damage or is that just whatever feat is used? I know some of these are not implemented yet. a number of melee weapons are called out, but ranged seem lumped together. Also I note that weapon specialization at level 2 seems limited to fighter. ![]()
![]() The settlements are established. The next official step is for the autocrat at each location to determine what the settlement will train and what it will support. Part of this is internal as you can lose the support you have. And part is external, what can your companies train near by? WHat are others offering and what can you provide in trade. And how will they support you in the tower war. Yes, only your companies can hold the tower, but around the tower, others can help. Neighbors helping hold your towers so you provide training. The autocrats make the decision, but not in a vacuum. In fact it may be high pressure, esp for the small companies. What can you provide to get help? But if you are too small, you may need a loan of characters or companies to help hold enough for your training to be beneficial. ![]()
![]() It does seem that for so many, the player SKILL to target is important. Yet another proposal has gone out, ignoring all the discussion that has gone before. THis is not MVP, but how would this be implemented as a crowd forged option. As it is, targeting is not perfect but as one of 3 d100 rolls. Twitch should not be better or not much better than those who can not twitch. I proposed (in response to yet another request on Ideascale. THese issues will keep coming because for many this will be pat of immersion. Nad others of us just twitch! that those getting twitch option lose and amount, say 7% off their d100 "roll". Based upon there twitch accuracy they get upto 10% added back, initially linear on how good twitch is on target, but shifted based upon critical cases ( only counting cases where twitch matters {taking a twitch chance where even -7% hits are not counted] ) 0 to 10%. THose who are good get 3% bonus. NUmbers are debatable. THis need to be play adjusted if this it too high, may be only .2% or .1 percent. Some player will want to do this even if it is a lose:lose situation. It is the experience they want. I know I am asking a lot of debs and this should be crowd forged, but it may increase customer. A game is basically making it hard to do something simple. ![]()
![]() I alpha we have only seen group operations, where the other groups were not able to coordinate together. When a company wants to perform an activity, do they have to break down in to 6 unit groups or can they be single entity which can shift formation and partnering. If companies have to work as 6 person groups and combat takes out half of 2 groups, those 6 are no longer working as a unit, they need to reorganize . A cleric needs to be able to assist whoever is in the company. Depending how damage is occurs, there may be reformed groups with no or 6 clerics. A group of wizards may find themselves to gather but no effectively support the combat because they reformed into local group when the units took damage, not into a proper combined arms team. So, can a company fight as a group together (or does that take an aristocrat and formations to exceed 6)? ![]()
![]() I am learning a little about PFS. Played my first society conference and will have second level cleric by time I leave. In one case I was unconscious near the feet of a monster. A party member was about to cast spell which would have area of effect on my character. Then to hear "Technically this is PvP. Do you consent?" Odd question as the character was unconscious. I consent, then go negate HP and monster is destroyed; shortly the 'target' is captured and character is feed CLW potion to bring back to consciousness (and then heal the others). But the real report is play testing alpha. 5 demo machines are in the Mount Rainier room. I have seen other contributors to these forums, but they can Identify themselves, and spoke with the devs, face to face, sometimes one to one. It does give some understanding but something's are still undecided.vd. Being told the matter is undecided is more information than no information. As many remember, I do not have any experience with this type of computer game. I am still slow but can get around. I and a player I met in KotC (remember! no name) each did try some solo harvesting and it can be done, esp. with a stealth mode to avoid even PvE, just don't get greedy! During the demo there is not a lot of PvP against the demo accounts. I mainly played short sessions. The other character harvested coal, iron, and crafted first iron bar in a session under 2 hours (though this did involve return to get training in mining mid way) -- might have been less than 80 minutes. I was in and out attending to other activities (and lunch to keep glucose levels good). It will take some attention to surrounding and will be better with protectors or at least in somewhat a group, all trained and armed, but I think it may not be that bad for those wanting to avoid PvP. Without the setup for the demo some could have chosen to come after, but return would have been small. I really appreciated the opportunity. I have planned to play and this is better than I expected for Alpha, but parts of this (graphics) may not get significantly better for a while. That did seem quite good. I was standing in hall where there was glass looking into room. Two people came by and asked what it was. I explained it was Pathfinder Online, alpha. He said "The graphics look good from this distance." But remember this a conference of Paizo and Pathfinder fans. ![]()
![]() During the WotT, will there be POI? Where will POI be built, on tower hexes or only on non-tower hexes? If we can not build POI in tower hex, can a company owning a tower also have a POI or not? Can outposts be built next to company owned towers? Must the towers have POI before the outposts are bult(if possible to build POI in tower hex)? IIRC, POI and outposts (and settlements) require Bulk Food, Wood, Stone, Iron, or Trade Goods (did I miss any?). These are produced by outposts: farm, dock, ranch, sawmill, hunting lodge, mine, quarry (did I miss any?). How do we pump prime, use Bulk Items before to build production before we have facilities to produce them? Edit: corrected to WotT, thanks for noticing. ![]()

![]() The default concept is that GW has chosen 30 (+3)sites, but players may prefer others. As I have understood, the initial three had the option to pick other lands than the original 30 sites. They could suggest alternates. I will probably get a strong no. If you say yes, I may well be black listed by most of the guilds. (THough I understand Aragon will take in all, But I am 2 steps from their core. I started this trying to sell Bludd on a …scheme.) 1) There will be only 30 additional "guild" settlements. Plus an unlettered choice is "similar" to what was offered first 3. 2) Propose that any "guild" in can propose one alternate to current 30 lettered sites as their first choice in first rush (e.g. not a letter, but an ordered pair (-05.-05) -- not a likely entry). That one hex can not be changed bu the "guild" in later land rushes, but does not have to be chosen. It may be available for each of the 10 land rushes, but only as first choice. After first land rush choice there is no requirement on the "guild" to chose that crowd forged site. 2a) guilds that come in late, can not make choice, but can combine (subordinate) with those that did. 3) Basic rules on acceptance (but see #4)
4) In the first round GW can disallow any suggestion and "guild" is allowed one more forged site in rush 2. If disallowed, too bad. 5) One of the 30 lettered sites is always valid for any "guild" to strive for, but only 30 strongest get choices. Some letters may be unchosen if new sites are forged. If there are 2 forged sites, then only 28 "new" letters will be chosen, 2 letters will not be used in land rush. OK -- it is complicated. Some of us like other sites and this was offered as option to first three. This modest proposal is subject to crowd forging or more likely will be voted down by those not willing to take a risk. (some how I think Golgotha and Aragon will cherish the chance to choose). As alway, GW can say, not minimum value, but it would be recent crowd forging! Hey, I am more sane than KC! Comments and rants are a reality. ![]()
![]() 1) don't take my word. Contact customer.support@goblinworks.com, but do not do that casually as that will slow development. Or come leave me a message at Keepers of the Circle, but I am only a lowly Keeper there.
Many have taken this time to start "guilds" but those under 10 members will not achieve anything by themselves. If Guilds reassemble into larger groups or join some of the medium size guilds then you may influence choirs or at least have a settlement site to start EE. You do not need to ask quickly. If you doubt, wait until after June 1st and see how sites are to be disposed. Also note that during Alpha, which has not started, it will be a a much smaller area than EE. Basically the area along the Mosswater Road. ![]()
![]() OK, everyone thinks I am crazy. They are right and woe unto the settlement that takes me in -- but numbers count. In the first map . There were seemingly forest hexes on most mountain elevation hexes. Was that real? Did that change? In the later maps these are all shown as mountain terrain, not forest at mountain elevation. And subsequent maps do not show the early difference. AA and AB and other mountain elevation hexes, which were forest and no longer are, have important influence on the risks of those sites. So, Lee were you right the first time or the second time with the terrain types of these level two hexes. It is not fair to the land rush for these to have such an uncertainty. If you say the first map is right, I loose my leverage of my preference, but the community is better off. Nothing is worse that being right and all suffer because no one believed me! ![]()
![]() It is probable that, somewhere, there is some thread this week that explains this. I have been on business travel this week and away from my home computer. There is to be second land rush, tomorrow night. How do I sign up and record my membership in a CC (a.k.a. Guild for the purposes of this Land Rush)? I have linked my account from Pazio to GW. I recognizes my new user name and passwd and displays my options. I have logged in Where do I find the Land Rush page, Paizo or GoblinWorks? ![]()
![]() Another thread covers whether sleepers should be visible. This is the flip side. How do sleepers (assuming invisible while sleeping) reenter the world? Do they come back where they slept? How much awarer are they before appearing? Is the player aware what is in the area before coming back or do the character appear (possibly surrounded by a large number of ready to attack? Can the player see that the scene is not healthy and change choice and not bring on line? There seem too many ways to game this on either choice.a team waiting in lay for character to return OR character trying to use sleep to avoid combat (though if there was a 30 second timeout of protected sleeping, there is little chance of sleeper avoiding initial combat (30 covers 1/5 of a hex, possibly limit of visibility. ![]()
![]() I tried to ask this before but little response. And Hobs recent post around Pax Fidelis gives me hope to ask again. There will be posturing and assertions from who do not know, but advocate an answer, as crowd forging must. Hopefully, a dev will clear this. Fidelis is a LN nation. One toe away are the settlements LE, LN, LG. There will be a LG settlement, call it Pax X Good and Proper. (sorry) That settlement has companies that are LG and NG. (could be LN, but they are probably more at home settlement (Fidelis)). A NG company, Goodie Two Shoes, has members LG, NN, NG, and CG. When it first joins/sponsored by Goo and Proper, what happens to NN and CG members? THey are active and loyal (with in game meaning of loyal) of the company? Are they shut out? Some of the members are clerics with gods who are one set further ( e.g. CG, NE, NC) . Can they have underground shrines? Or practice with no shrine? 3,3, or 4 steps from LN! Even if Members of companies must be one within settlement, must their gods also be so limited? Can a NE member of a Ne company with a LE settlement represent a/supports a CG deity? If I was to advocate a position, a CN centered nations with CE and CG settlements would be less affective, but more accepting -- there would be LE, LN and LG elements of that nation. But a LN centered nation with LE any LG settlements would not have many Chaotic elements, but the friction of the LG and LE parts would be problmenmatic (sp). It is nice to say everything is one step, but it is not really! ![]()
![]() In "Blogs and Q&A Videos: Submit questions here" and other threads people have asked about servers. That level of discussion has not been public. Security through obscurity does not work, but in actual roll out I see this as changing. I expect in alpha this will be single computer in the US Pacific northwest. I had proposed in private mail concepts with 3 (or 4 with hypercube core) level architecture which would support client interfaces around the world, possibly using cloud centers to adjust to demand. Interface computers connect to middle ware which isolates the core (core only speaks to middleware). Initially this can be implemented on one computer (but no security isolation) and later layers become multiple computers, but one distributed server. I do not know their Unity tool to know if that is possible. molding function calls as sockets does not work, but messages as asynchronous sockets does. Having a single location can have internet bottleneck which is reduced with multiple client interfaces. A single server does not mean a single machine. Hyper cube architecture allows for data farm in excess of 2^64 (though 2^64 is a lot -- 4 ska bytes). Sun Microsystem 1990's sales slogan was something like "The network is the system.". ![]()
![]() OK, I broke my resolution in another thread, so time to broach this one. We have people demanding how PfO will work but some of these things are TBD and others are planned but will be crowd forged not only in EE but even after OE as the play shows needs change. Instead of demanding what is not part of Minimum Release, what do you want to see in minimum and in final concept? For those that compare to EVE or other PvP games, what can PfO to make a better game for you and why would this be better for your desired style of play? ( I acknowledge that PfO can not meet all the desired styles. Let GW know not only what you want, but why. If you want better PvE, this may not be your game!) Bluddwolf, we know what you have asked for, so think of additions instead of making the "world" safe for banditry. Likewise to others who have already expressed ideas over and over, don't repeat in this thread, or, if you can not resist, provide short statement and link to the thread(s0 discussing it. To all, if someone is again presenting what has been said over and over, ignore it, or follow in the linked threads. (How long will this go before it degenerates into SAD vs DAS.) ![]()
![]() In the discussion about DI, one way to increase settlement is claiming other hexes and building on them. Would building a hideout on said hex generate DI for the settlement? Esp. if the member were medium to higher rep? If so, would an independent hideout have a DI associated with it as quasi settlement?
wrote: Hideouts have limited storage, and they allow characters to be logged out of the game safely. Are hideouts too small to really develop DI? Could that DI be used for advancing the hideout and in establishing training site? OK,that is a string of hypotheticals, but it offers solutions to some of the chaotic community questions. ![]()
![]() There is member of the community (Steelwing -- many have responded so he has been part) who is demanding data about how the game works. Some of these will be worked by crowd forging. Some the responses are"test as you fly", but this is not acceptable as it can not be gamed out of the rules.. Steelwing (sorry but I do not know which pronoun to use) does not accept that some things are to be determined. My advice (as poorly as I am valued in this community) is: lurk, understand, come back in OE when you can tell your friends what is happening. You seem to demand too much that is not decided. YOu are welcome to post an be in this community. But you are not offering value. There is a lot to be revealed. It is not mature. Hang in here. DOn't go away. Don't expect that you can predict 2 years in advance of the next great thing. For some mind this will not be great. For those with greater concepts, …. Come back 2 months before OE and read the actual rules, not opinions of what they might be. THen talk to your friends/ lam ![]()

![]() I liked the video. Then I went back to evaluate it as player aid/UI. There are many parts that became evident as I did a freeze frame and studied the lower right, upper left, upper right. And there was the information (numbers) over the Ripper and over the first person. These numbers are in red. Is the best for viewing or is that to not break the immersion? The numbers are a little fuzzy. Was that due to this being YouTube, to my graphics (NVIDIA GeForce 9400 256 MB), or is this what will be typical (I expect not, but needed to ask)? The texture on the image is fine, it was just the numbers with which I had problems. And then there is the size. 'At a distance' they were small. And maybe that is going with 'limited information'. Close up they were still smaller than character information. With freeze frame, bifocals, and careful view, I could make out small numbers at melee range, but not at normal graphics speed. OK, I am in the running for the oldest in the discussion forum. Maybe it will get better with practice. These are my observations on the graphic which is not the game interface. If there is a reduced graphic option, chosen by those who have slower internet pipes, slower CPU, or less capable graphics; can the crispness and the quality of the numbers be maintained/improved as best. ![]() There was a lot of debate on this sometime back. Drifting through the online rules I find:
Master Craftsman Your superior crafting skills allow you to create simple magic items. Prerequisites: 5 ranks in any Craft or Profession skill. Benefit: Choose one Craft or Profession skill in which you possess at least 5 ranks. You receive a +2 bonus on your chosen Craft or Profession skill. Ranks in your chosen skill count as your caster level for the purposes of qualifying for the Craft Magic Arms and Armor and Craft Wondrous Item feats. You can create magic items using these feats, substituting your ranks in the chosen skill for your total caster level. You must use the chosen skill for the check to create the item. The DC to create the item still increases for any necessary spell requirements (see the magic item creation rules in Magic Items). You cannot use this feat to create any spell-trigger or spell-activation item. Normal: Only spellcasters can qualify for the Craft Magic Arms and Armor and Craft Wondrous Item feats. -----
This Feat allows non-magic users to acquire those same feats to craft items within their craft. NO DEBATE. Already covered. Also in the August 2009 printing on page 130. (Now Nihimon will tell me he already posted this!)

![]() OK, there seem to be some absolutes about good vs evil: Murder is evil; slavery is evil. How far does this go? Tea party argues that taking property is evil, whether it is thief, con art, or the government. These are all argued to be coercion. Some governments feel it is noble to take from the privileged and share. And of course there is "Robin Hood". One can not go by historical earth society. Slavery in many forms has been historical , but the strange twist in US is now regarded as evil as are the 20th century versions. In Rome, the head of the household could kill dependent members of the house. Are these law vs chaos or are they matter of local "laws". What happens in ares with no laws? How far does criminal flag range? If a character commits act illegal in one domain and returns home where it is legal, are they still displaying criminal? If these acts would have been illegal at home, are they still criminal? What about third settlement? Will the third settlement 'know' about the crime or if it is illegal under local laws? lam That is two new themes. Good enough for now. I will ask about destiny's twin some other day. ![]()
![]() In the theme of not polluting other treads, this is a new tread. Are clerics/paladins/defenders of faith for a particular god, properly a faction? Characters will be parts of CC and settlements, but have a loyalty to the deity. I do not see an other mechanism for this? THis may be corrupting the faction concept. Other characters may also worship, but clerics owe a higher fealty to the deity than any humble association. This was also related to discussion on Druids and lesser fashion to rangers and "loyalty" to nature. Druids are not an initial class, but clerics are. I would argue that this is a subject for a blog.
