Ive used one like this before.

congratulations to everyone selected! Obvious sadness that I won't be a part of it, but for the greater good of Brevoy, we wish you well on your travels to the Greenbelt.

also agree, thanks for updating us, I'm sure im one of many constantly refreshing the page throughout the day.

many many things come before hobbies such as this, kids being one of them. I'm sure I speak for everyone here in hoping they are all right and they get better soon

Grunting approval "Here, here. Many a fine dwarf shield-maiden that only grew finer after being through a skirmish or two." Standing up situation Suori back under his cloak, Kordrek looks up towards the swordlords. "It seems as if we are about to hear a decision, I wish all of ye the best of luck."

Bowing as best he can while sitting. "No offense meant to ye Ma'am. Not me intent to imply everyone here, just some of the folk here seem to be green as to what actually occurs in the wild." Looking over Rok, Kordrek nods, "Obviously you're not one of them, as are many others. But surely, a soldier does not go into battle thinking to change the overall strategy? A miner charged with excavating a tunnel does not plan the overall mine. A single ship's captain does not sail to conquer the ocean. We're being hired as explorers and mappers. Where in the description did so many come up with the idea we'd be ruling? I fancy many creatures already living there probably have their own ideas as who is to rule. Along with the swordlords here in Rostland. I'm sure if they are to set up towns, cities, castles, kingdoms, it would take a lot more than 5 folk setting out to map a territory. Things like that get built over generations not years."

ah blast me to the five mountains, I've been sucked in

Raising his mug towards Celest and calling out from his table, "Glad there are some more sensible folk here. We're being hired to do a job. Not sure how many of you have set out in the wild, but kingdoms don't grow from trees. Dangers a plenty in those lands, without any of the type done with the spoken word," As Kordrek brings his mug to his lips, he is painfully reminded his mug is empty, "for that matter how many of you are even prepared for an extended trip into the wilderness?"

Looking around, Kordrek can spot that many people seem ready to battle anything and everything except sleeping in the middle of the forest. "If I were to make suggestions from my soap box of a chair over here, You may want something to lie down on at night, some food for the road, before you become the next great house of Brevoy. Otherwise your reign will be shorter than the wee one's height here." Gesturing towards the gnomes.

Kordrek almost chokes on his drink as he watches the scene unfold in front of him. To no one in particular as he wipes ale out of his beard and makes sure Suori didn't get thrown off in his laughter, "Why in the five kingdoms would he turn her down. Unless its the elvish part, not sure I'd go for that either, eh Suori?" Looking down at his mug "It seems I'm out of ale again," reaching into his pockets "And not much coin left. Tis a sad day indeed Suori."

Kordrek can feel Suori's laziness setting in as she curls up on his shoulder. I hope whoever is running this starts it soon. Before the philosophical debate becomes more of a dogma teaching session, and I get to thirsty to go out and find cheaper ale.

Well this is full of the tall folk and the wee one puffing their chests to seem important. If this was an all dwarven expedition, would be far less debate and far more drinking. Bandits, bah, would never be a problem if a proper dwarven town was near by. I wonder if there is some ale somewhere

Speaking to himself and as no one has seemed to be particularly talking to him, Kordrek reaches under his cloak and pulls out his traveling companion, Suori. "Well, do you want some ale? I'm sure a lizard such as yourself could handle the make of Restov's brew. Ain't going to be as good as the stuff from back home that's for sure."

Heads off to a table and sits down, ready to rest his legs and calls over anyone who might be serving anything of note.

Nodding at Jallek's responses, "Aye, I have the same feeling about the open skies. Although more than a few Dwarf-maidens were sad to see you go. One in particular....."

"As well as the Garess family has accepted us, not all have and Toval thought we should represent our interest for the Golka clan into the Greenbelt as well. Many a stories be coming out of there of some rich veins, and we've seen what happens when we leave it to you taller folk to properly mine."

bluff: 1d20 ⇒ 10

Sense Motive 10:

Kordrek's eyes have a hard time matching Jallek's. His voice stumbles in places while he seems to be petting something sitting under his cloak on his shoulder.

Wow really should've thought of something before talking to Jallek. I bet he knows ways to send information home, but do I want him learning how strange I've become?

"Well if these swordlords are half as smart as we held them to be in court, they would know two men of House Garess would be prime candidates for this trip." Bowing and walking towards another group of looks like would-be adventurers, Kordrek tosses one final remark back to Jallek "Did you talk to her before you left?"

Overhearing a particularly fiery looking gnome, Kordrek wanders over and has his attention diverted by a magnificent specimen of a feline. Not wanting to intrude on their conversation, he stands politely aside but he cannot tear his eyes away from such a creature of nature.

in an rp heavey setting like pbp why does it matter? Honest question as I've always felt the better PBP games have more non magical means of solving things anyways. Just my 2 cents. Not like the adventure paths are written for super munchkin characters.

Finished gearing out Kordrek along with his spell list. Any feedback or criticism is welcome. Hope I didn't step on your toes Jellak, I made my character's background before reading into anyone in the thread and with the backstory given from you, it would be extremely odd to not have the two characters know each other.

Clad in his customary loose fitting clothes, his long flowing beard tied in braids behind his neck, Kordrek scans the courtyard. So many, and many unexpected here. Seeing people not only from houses aligned with Rostland but also of the other great families. After I put in my application, I wonder if I could find a way to get word back to Toval. Information might help soften the blow about me up and running away Seeing Jellak Garess, Kordrek is shaken from his musings.

Surprised to see another member of the royal house so far east, Kordrek skirts around of the edge of the rapidly filling room to sidle up to Jellak. ”Master Stonecaller! Dwarf-friend and most respected son of the Garess family” Hoping he hadn’t forgotten any titles afforded a man of his position he continued on. ”Quite the varied group of travelers we be having here. Do ye think they all realize why the swordlords might be sending them south? More here than meets the eye according to ol Toval. For that matter, what be the reason for ye being here?”

Player's Introduction – I have played extensively with a group of my old tabletop friends(both tabletop and PBP), but they have seemed to outgrown the game. I DM’d fairly extensively having completed both Rise of the Runelords and Skulls and Shackles with said group. I have the urge to be a player though and this will probably be the only way I get that fix.

Kordrek Golka's past:

Cousin to Toval Golka, Kordrek Golka was in Highdelve when the vanishing occurred. Young, by dwarven standards, Toval took him as his ward. Over the past 10 years, he has studied at court and anvil, but his heart yearned for something else. While on a scouting task back into the mountains, Toval never gave up hope on finding clues as to what happened to Golushkin, he locked eyes with a lizard along one of the tunnel walls. Entranced by what he saw, he could see himself within the animal and called to it. Losing all track of time, he spent three weeks within the tunnels with his new found friend. As the days went by he realized by talking to the lizard, he was able to manifest parts of himself into various effects. He was able to project his stubbornness as an invisible barrier about him. He could channel his compassion to heal creature’s wounds. He could use his anger to weaken those around him.

Eventually he was found by a party led by Toval himself. Finding Kordrek muttering about nonsense with a common lizard, House Garess officials quickly told Toval that Kordrek needed to leave before rumors of a crazy cousin helped fan the sparks of tension of a dwarf being named heir-apparent. He needed to distance himself from his crazy cousin. On their march back Kordrek had a dream; to the south was a land where the animals called to him. A giant lizard the size of a dragon whispered to him, “Come seek me out and I will give you the power to defend my domain.” White-eyed but no fool he knew he couldn’t just set out into the wilderness. He overheard Toval the next day arguing with the captain of the guard, “This is a ploy mark my words. They’re setting up for the storm that be ‘a brewin. The swordlords be looking to putting them and their own down into the greenbelt. Nice tidy set of resources that would be for them.” Realizing his chance, and not wanting to be a hindrance to his cousin who had looked after him for the past 10 years, Kordrek set out that night splitting off from the main camp headed for Rostland.

Post samples - Stopping his searching of the cavern, Koba comes over to the group as he hears himself being talked to by an assortment of people. Towards Anevia ”Yesss I am, I’ve come to show the city and the world that not all kobolds are the sssame. Just as I’ve come to notice neither are all you humans. Koba-Jol at your ssservice.“
Surprised that anyone would show interest in his race as much as the elf is, Koba cocks his head a bit but more than willing to share knowledge, ”Sssso many questionsss please slow down. Yes my sssscales denote some heritage of a mighty green dragon from ssssomewhere in my past. We are closely related you know. It isss known that kobolds are the forerunners of the dragon ascension in this world to their power.” Slightly jumping around as he is getting overexcited talking about the dragons, Koba tries to remind himself to stay calm ”As to magic, it is something I wish to explore further but need someone to guide me. All I can do is create small orbs of ……… Sind die Drachenschuppen!?!?!”

Draconic:

”Are those Dragonscales?”

Rushing to Melchesiech, Koba explodes in an excited anticipation of what he might be looking at. Extending a quaking arm towards the Elf, he asks
“Kann ich eins habe bitte?”
Draconic:

”Can I have one please?”

Is that a member of house Garess I see?
will join in the tavern talk shortly, need to go to bed and wanted to get my submission in
