Are we still waiting for Edwin? Pretty sure a week is more than enough.

I guess I should have posted with, "JoJo continues to be carried by Brian" but I thought that was obvious. Still nauseated for a round. Sorry. Feel free to DMPC.

I thought it was obvious I wasn't doing anything. Just going along for the ride.

"Uuuuuuuuuh. Put me down please," was JoJo's first thought at being thrown over his friend's shoulder. Then he saw the approaching zombie's eyes go red. "Nevermind." Yeah, zombie sounded a lot more ominous than Sicko and that red eye trick was terrifying in mass.

Oh s*%$. My bad.

Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Unable to do more than go with the flow, JoJo follows along, taking deep breadths and trying not to barf again.

Still here.

Al I see on the map is little icons for speech bubbles. I don't know how to open them or reveal them so I have no idea where we are.

Unless you hit something metallic, the sound from the gun would be louder. Silencer doesn't literally silence, just lessens.

Well I am still out for 7 more rounds. Is there some place to hide if no one is going to do anything?

"S&+!." JoJo still hadn't gotten over his bout of nausea and more trouble was approaching. Not only that, but if they fought them, they'd likely draw the attention of those in the parking lot. "We gotta go. Or we need a distraction."

JoJo spoke load enough the others might be able to hear him and make a roll for zombies.

Earlier

As the group walks back, JoJo meanders over to edwin who I believe is the oldest. "Hey, do you remember any old, um, ish movies about zombies? Like Night of the Living Dead? What's going on here kinda reminds me of some of the scenes from that movie."

Now

Gore Check DC 18: 1d20 ⇒ 7 Nope.
3d6 ⇒ (2, 6, 6) = 14

"Oh Jesus." JoJo pinches his nose as the wind brings him the smell of death. It was so overpowering that the one whiff was almost enough to gag him. The scene at the parking lot only served to amplify that. He was thankful he hadn't eaten anything yet because he surely would have lost it. It takes a minute for him to get control of his stomach.

Sorry. I missed your post between Marcus and Greg. Without an avatar, it seems to get lost. Ignore the part about riding in a canoes in my last two parts and we're good. So we're walking back now?

All three stand in shocked silence. Did he just say that? Did he just smile while saying that? That was some Joker s@$!. "You mother..." JoJo wasn't one to jump to anger to quickly but Brian was. He grabbed an oar and advanced. Only the other two and Richard's timely intervention stopped him. "You f~*+ing hate them so much you can go swim after them." He points violently at Marcus but advances no further. JoJo and Schmitty manage to pull him back. One thing was for certain now, JoJo didn't want to share a canoe any more.

Marcus shakes his head and laughs quielty, "In due time, I will no longer be a culture shock to you all. For really, that is what I am to you all and then you use me as your scapegoat. The Canterbury's were selfish a-holes, nothing more, nothing less."

"The guy that cut me off in traffic is a selfish a%~&### too but I ain't gonna use a pit maneuver and send him into the ditch," JoJo says quietly to his friends.

"Sometimes I want to strangle phone guy in the theater," Schmitty adds.

"Or the three people that have to walk side by side slowly down the hall."

"Or 'I've got a coupon.'"

"Or socks and sandals."

"Or crocs."

The trio tried to contain their laughs but were failing miserably as they packed and hoped in canoes.

Geoffrey Whittaker wrote:
"Hang on guys... before we go anywhere, let me take a look at your wounds..."

"Oh s&!*. You guys are bleeding a lot." They had laughed it off at first but now that he got a good look, he realized infection might be an issue. He leaves it to the good German doctor to patch them up enough to get better care.

With a loud thud Edwin puts down the last of the Sickos to reach the small island. Schmitty and Brian take a second to check out each others shirts. Their jackets had rips in them as if they were clawed by a bear. There was blood showing on both of their shirts. They both took off their shirts to better inspect the wounds. Brian seemed to have gotten the worst of it as there were two separate tracks of four scratches about 9 inches long. The cuts were not too deep but bleeding. Schmitty had a single track of 4 cuts only about 6 inches long along his left side along the bottom of his rib cage. Both looked at each other and then at JoJo. The two of them laughed they made it through.

JoJo joins the near hysterical laughter amplifying their madness. I mean someone actually tried to kill them and they attacked back. They'd never done this before. Never thought of it as a possibility. So yeah, they shared a very crazy laugh.

The things must have walked here on the bottom of the lake drawn by our noise. Greg said as he lowered his shotgun after dispatching the last of the second wave. Well we have light now. I suggest we get moving. It may be a long day today. And we need to find something to eat soon.

After the giggles subside the seriousness of the situation settles in. "Certainly ain't getting back to sleep," he says in agreement with Greg. Might as well see the damage. Were they stuck walking thanks to the Canterbury's? Was the resort still there? Was the town still there? He carefully packs his stuff, eyes watching the edge of the water for anymore zombies.

Agree with Greg to at least head back to the truck and then the resort.

Its a -5 in pathfinder to hit the head but its not an auto kill so that's fair. Option 2 as well. Standard or full round action? Or like power attack where every attack takes a -8. Might be helpful if we take on a horde. Or perhaps a custom feat is necessary for multiple shots.

Round 2

"Holy s##&." JoJo watched, in slow motion, as the zombie, if that is what there were, fell to the ground. Rationally he knew it had to be done. He had to use lethal force to save himself and his friends. These people, these things, had proven to be relentless, uncooperative, and just would not listen. He remembered back in one of his firearm courses that one merely had to feel like their life was in danger to use lethal force. It wasn't his life in danger at the moment so justifying this to a court was going to be difficult.

"Get off you sick f*!!s," JoJo yells trying to bat the next one away. He couldn't think about that stuff right now though. His friends were in trouble.

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Break 10 or less: 1d100 ⇒ 94

AoO

Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Confirm: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Break: 1d100 ⇒ 61 Not Broken? Also, that is some terrible damage for a crit.

Ha. I forgot I have a strength bonus.

"Huh?" JoJo is yet again awoken by screaming. He hadn't actually fallen asleep since the last time so he sprung up quickly. The screams this time sounded more frightful then angry. "Brain!" he shouts when his friend is grabbed. JoJo moves closer and gives the creature a whack.

Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1

Well, he tried.

Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

"The only orders I so called barked was when John was not or it felt like he was not listening to me and I felt he was being inefficient risking my life and others for what I felt was for his own selfish needs. However, I never escalated to deadly force even though I strongly felt he was endangering my life and yours too. He could have easily slid over on the bench seat and played with the radio from the passenger side. If I could drive on the right, like in Europe, I would have easily ran to the other side to do so."

"Hey." JoJo didn't like being an example but any argument he had was steamrolled over. This was not productive at all but JoJo was too tired to do anything more than flop back down and try and get some sleep. Apparently the Canterbury's had set their canoe's adrift but didn't steal anything. So they were either going to take the truck or just gonna paddle somewhere and try to head home. He had a bad feeling that wasn't gonna be good. He had a bad feeling that things had gotten really bad. He had little proof to go on besides the missing bus, the letter, and the radio stuck on apocalyptic repeat. Oh and the really weird people that attack you and don't die from a bullet to the chest. Fantasy had always been a big part of his life. So much so that a fantasy explanation seemed viable, if crazy. So until a valid explanation grounded in reality for all this showed up, they'd be zombies.

"We can't do anything about them so f*&& em. Go to sleep."

"Hmm? What happened?" JoJo had been in the middle of a deep slumber. If his mind wasn't so foggy he'd admit that such a sleeping habit was probably a terrible habit at this point. What with Sickos or Zombies running around.

"Not a movie? You just shot a guy in the heart and he kept right on coming. In the real world, that kills someone. So we've taken a pretty large f#*~ing jump towards movie shenanigans." JoJo is nearly yelling by the end of his rant. He cools off quickly at the silent stares of the others. "I'd like to avoid more shenanigans so I vote for an island. And I don't think anyone is falling asleep tonight."

Marcus Magnum wrote:

Marcus replies to Ranger Greg, "Right boss! If we ever see Edgar and Ellie, I will give them a hug for leaving the truck here!"

"Poor form."

"Boo."

Marcus gets some heckles from the bed for insensitivity. JoJo smiles and returns to the discussion. "Doesn't the resort have a wall and sturdy gate? That'd be pretty safe right? Plus food. I like food."

JoJo hops in the back with the rest, facing outward. He watches for anymore of those crazy people...zombies. Try as he might all he could remember was the name and some old Romero movie about the living dead. It sounded insane. I mean it was just a movie. But what he witnessed was also insane. "Anybody remember the Zombie monster craze around 2010? Do these...sicko's seem similar?"

If Marcus isn't going to read it then JoJo takes it back.

Instead of sliding over JoJo gets out and heads over to Greg. If Marcus wasn't going to read the note then maybe he would. "Something happened weeks ago. Right after we left I guess. I still want to see but I don't think the resort is going to be safe."

"Just hang on a second," John says, with a hand in the air. He continues to search through stations hoping some emergency station will shed some light on what is going on. To forestall any pushing he hands Marcus the note.

What is today in game?

John reads the note then reads it again. He stares at the words for a moment without really reading anything. What? He hops in and starts it up. His first thought is to turn on the radio and try to find a station that works.

"Thanks guys," JoJo says to his friends as they come to the rescue. He wasn't sure how to feel after seeing them beat a woman to death but considering the circumstance, thanks was in order. He picks up his flash light and heads towards the truck. He quiet agreed, borrowing it was necessary now. He tries the door.

If it is open he begins searching for the keys in the likely places.

Search: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

"Can anyone hotwire this thing?"

Yes, the oar. I realize now I have to drop the flashlight to take a shot so I do that. I seem to have gotten Richard and Edwin mixed up too. Edwin has the big flashlight.

History: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Pop Culture: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Having seen a number of horror movies in his time, the grotesque wound this Sicko's could handle didn't bother him too much. But it did remind him of the zombie craze a few years back. Unfortunately, he couldn't remember much else beyond that name.

Well the percentage roll was pretty bad. But 50% is a little harsh. Even against a brick wall the bulb might break but it should still be a viable weapon. But if the rules say improvised weapons have a chance to break then so be it. Your game. I won't drag it out.

JoJo was torn between helping and running. Running was beginning to win. He just witnessed a man get shot and not die. Even the old man's flashlight broke on their face. He doubted an oar would do much good. History or Pop Culture to remember the zombie fad? He tries one more time to get the woman out from under the truck then decides this is too much. "S%+&. S&*@, S&&+, S+~%."

He walks up behind the one assaulting Richard and takes a shot.

Attack+Flanking: 1d20 + 2 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 2 - 4 = 3
Nevermind: 1d1001 ⇒ 732

He described it as: "industrial flashlight from his duffel (the one almost as long as a forearm and could probably crack a skull or two)." If the flashlight is anything like my MAG light at home, its not breaking. You can run it over and it will work. They can stop bullets. Granted the bullet did break it but still.

Simpler answer: Sure we are all aware of the enemies but Stranger 1, 2, 3, Marcus and Yael initiate the fight and thus act in the surprise round. Yael and Marcus Ready an Action and 1, 2, and 3 move. That procs the readied action and moves there init to right be fore the zombies which negates any roll they might have made.

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

"MORE MURDER HOBOS!" Jonathan cries in fright. He turned to head in the opposite direction of stranger one and heard something from the side. Stranger 2 and 3 had arrived and JoJo was officially done. He starts to move south and away but stops at the truck. "Come on lady. We gotta go." He stops at the back of the truck, keeping it between him and stranger danger 2 and 3.

Moving 30 south. Moved myself on the map already. That's it.

"I think he's blind," JoJo says, shining the light right in the man's eyes. They didn't respond at all. "And really sick. Or drunk." The way he stumbled about reminded him of some guys back at college. He felt a little bad for the guy but he couldn't quell a since of unease about this either. "I like Marcus' idea. Let's just leave him and call the cops." JoJo begins moving to the back of the group and down the trail.

JoJo does his best impression of a statue and waits for someone more experienced to handle this. The one time his gun is 1.5 miles away he runs across a crazy, murder hobo. Awesome. He keeps the light on the target and the oar in front of him to ward off the stranger.

JoJo has a light as well and will carry an oar like the Ranger suggested.

John stands a little outside the circle of bad mood, trying to bat the smog away before he got infected. His friend Brian caught on and made gagging actions. They laughed but needed to offer an opinion. He hated it when people argued with employees just because things went wrong so he was tempted to vote for the walk out of spite. But there was potentially a murderer around so that was out. He wasn't about to walk 1.5 miles at night with a MAG light. "I vote resort and not adding more crimes to tonight's list," he says from the back. They also didn't need to steal a car. Or borrow or rent or any other justifying words like that.

John was somewhat curious about a body but wasn't sure if he wanted to see it. He'd seen enough horror movies, the old ones and the new, that he didn't think he'd get sick or anything. But he didn't have a morbid curiosity. He also wanted to see what was missing from the packs but that might seem suspicious. Instead he just busies himself with pulling the canoe on shore and out of the way then talks with his friends. There ideas went from possible to scary to stupid real quick.

Jonathan let's out a sigh of relief. "Not a bear. Thank god. Wait, how is this life and death? The Ranger just said things were off. He doesn't have a gun out. Maybe there's just a thief around. Or a really bad prank." JoJo was starting to think Marcus was just a little too gungho. He seemed fine at the camp fire. Really knew his stuff about firearms and the laws. JoJo was surprised to find he was a computer engineer. Same relative field as him. Why was he panicking over some rummaged goods?

Listen: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Spot: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8

John had heard the ranger too but it wasn't until Marcus got out his gun and pointed out the bags being pilfered that his mind began to register danger. "Rummaged? Like people rummage or bear rummage?" Where there even bears out here.

"JoJo. What's up with Baloo?" The snide comment came from one of his friends. They'd likened him to a bear and now they were throwing out any bear reference they could. If he wasn't in the same canoe and terrified that an actual bear might be around, he'd find it funny. Instead, he turns and gives a cut it out signal and shushes them. He points at the camp and, after a moment, they understand his concern.

Thoroughly spooked, he complies, paddling them to shore and keeping the oar just in case. "Um, if you can get me to my car I have a gun too," he says in a whisper.

Are our cars here? He couldn't bring his handgun on the canoe.

Schmitty (Actual name Schmidt but they never use it) and Brian.

If everyone is still scarred of the gun toting bear, Jonathan will ride with Marcus. Ever since getting his own firearm he has been intrigued by them. Which means he is going to bother Marcus with a lot of questions.

One suggestion too. Why not Exploit Weakness instead of Savant. +2 to attack since your int is 16 and dex 12.
