Round 1 Initiative 19
Consider that during the surprise round you had the ability to grab a weapon nearby you if you own one. Basically I need JoJo to post his action and then I will make a post for a bunch of the npcs and then Yael and Richard followed by a single Sicko then the remainder of the party. When I make a combat post it will have the current round and initiative count at the top.

Brian cries out into the night as one of the THINGS lounges forward and catches him by the shoulder and waist pulling itself closer. Inhuman claws dig deep into Brian's flesh as the creature strengthens its grip on the young man.
Brian and S3 and now grappling. S3 is holding Brian and on his next turn may attempt a bite attack. On the map I moved S3 halfway into Brian square he is considered fully in Brian's square for all game purposes. JoJo you are up. Hope you can save your friend.

Johnathan "JoJo" Jones |

"Huh?" JoJo is yet again awoken by screaming. He hadn't actually fallen asleep since the last time so he sprung up quickly. The screams this time sounded more frightful then angry. "Brain!" he shouts when his friend is grabbed. JoJo moves closer and gives the creature a whack.
Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 16
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Well, he tried.

Round 1 Initiative 18-10
JoJo's attack does 2 damage you forgot to add strength bonus. And the 10% miss chance.
S4Grab: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Sicko4 fails to grab a hold of Brian.

Brian breaks the grapple and moves away.
SchmittyAttackS1: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (4) - 3 = 1
Schmitty misses and takes a 5' step back.
Sicko one moves closer and then makes a grab attempt.
SchmittyAoO: 1d20 - 3 ⇒ (17) - 3 = 14
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Schmitty interrupts the Sicko's attack with a well timed blow from the paddle.
GregAttackS2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Greg's shot misses
A frenzy of activity happens very quickly. JoJo sprang to his friends aid smashing the Paddle on the side of the Sicko holding Brian. Another Sicko attempted to grab a hold of Brian but he and the first Sicko were moving to quickly. Brian managed to break free from the first person's grasp and backed up 5' to be even with JoJo. Schmitty took a swing with his paddle and missed the sicko in front of him he then cautiously took a step back to pull in line with Brian and JoJo. From here he was able to meet the lunging Sicko with a soft swing of his paddle and brush aside its attempt to grab hold. Greg having awoken with a start grabs his shotgun at his side. He runs around the camp to bring his shotgun to bear on the Sicko not yet close to one of his group. Taking the shot before he got set causes the shot to go wide.
Round 1 Initiative 9
Sicko3: 19 -2hp

also going to homerule that the miss chance doesn't apply to Attacks of Opportunity. If the Sicko is trying to grab you you know where it is at.

RocksAhead |

Richard will wait to repell any sickos.
Interpreting this as a Ready action to attack any Sickos in melee range with your knife. Which happens immediately as Sicko 2 moves to attack Schmitty. Feel free to roll an attack roll. I will continue with Sicko 2's turn in the next post.

Round 1 Initiative 4
S2G: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
ScOG: 1d20 ⇒ 5
S2OG: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The last of the group of the sick lunges forward and grabs a hold of Schmitty. The two become entangled as Schmitty fights to keep the man's opening and closing mouth from his flesh. The sick man's fingernails dig deep into Schmitty's skin as its grip on the young man tightens.
Few things to note. Richard your readied attack against a sicko is triggered when he moves to attack. Also in the process of grappling when holding the Schmitty Sicko 2 moves into his square I am showing this by placing him halfway into the square. This movement however does provoke AoO from Richard and JoJo if he hasn't used an AoO this round. For now let's hold on any actions other than the above involving Sicko2. If you haven't gone this round and won't be target Sicko2 feel free to post.
All PCs yet to act this round can post. Then End of Round 1

Marcus Magnum |

ROUND 1
Not taking any commutable risks for another 48 hours, Marcus moves to behind one of the canoes to get a better angle for less of a chance for collateral damage, activates both the laser/tactical light, and fires at the sicko behind the sicko in front of Brian.
Attack Sicko4 w/in 30, not in melee: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage Sicko4: 2d6 ⇒ (3, 2) = 5

Geoffrey Whittaker |

Round 1:
Geoffrey steps to the side, and calmly attempts to make a called shot at sicko #4's head.
HKPSG1(including the 'called shot' penalty): 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 - 4 = 13, for 2d10 ⇒ (3, 7) = 10 damage.
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 74.
Just testing a theory ;-)

RocksAhead |

Please adjust Marcus so he will not hit anyone since I posted before Geoffrey and Edwin.
I slightly adjusted your token and may do so again after Edwin posts. Due to Marcus and Geoffrey's combined shots Sicko 4 is down. Edwin you are on the clock. I probably won't be able to post until Sunday.

Edwin Harrison |

"Goddammit! I'm old and I need my sleep!"
Edwin takes the oar he keeps nearby and maneuvers between Yael and Richard so he can get a clear shot of swinging the oar at the sicko's head.
Attack with oar: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
I think I can get where I placed myself with some maneuvering.

RocksAhead |

Something that I was trying to ascertain with my attack: Do successful head shots on zombies equal instant kills? I want to know whether to bother in the future :-)
wasn't planning on that in this game. A -4 to instant kill seems too OP. If the group wants to do headshot rules than I would allow a -8 to head called shots. I will be making a post later today

The sick man who grabbed a hold of Schmitty and pulled itself close was totally ignorant of JoJo and Richard being so close. As the sicko passed them Richard struck out with his survival knife cutting a deep gash in the Sicko's side. A foul stench was released along with the former man's rotting intestines. A few microseconds later JoJo clapped the Sicko on the back of the skull just above the neck with the side of his paddle. The force was so strong that it snapped the mans neck with a loud crack and the sicko feel to ground motionless. Gregory and Marcus move off to the side and put two quick rounds into another Zombie that was a few feet from Brian.
Edwin quickly moved up to the side of a third sicko and smacked it on the back with an oar. Roll 1d100 to see if it breaks. You want higher than 10.
Two of these strange carriers of some new disease were down and two were still moving and attacking the campers.
BrianAoO: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (8) - 1 = 7
S3Grab: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
The sicko tried to grab a hold of Brian but missed with a clumsy grab.
JoJo's turn.

Johnathan "JoJo" Jones |

Round 2
"Holy shit." JoJo watched, in slow motion, as the zombie, if that is what there were, fell to the ground. Rationally he knew it had to be done. He had to use lethal force to save himself and his friends. These people, these things, had proven to be relentless, uncooperative, and just would not listen. He remembered back in one of his firearm courses that one merely had to feel like their life was in danger to use lethal force. It wasn't his life in danger at the moment so justifying this to a court was going to be difficult.
"Get off you sick f*#@s," JoJo yells trying to bat the next one away. He couldn't think about that stuff right now though. His friends were in trouble.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

Seeing JoJo take a swing with his oar and miss his friends try to do the same. Both concentrating on the one in front of JoJo. Brian takes a mighty swing and is off balanced slightly when it fails to connect. Schmitty connects with the Sicko in the rib cage and a loud crack is heard as several ribs are broken. The blow knocks the Sicko lady towards Brian and the creature makes a lounging grab for Brian but misses barely. Greg rounds the corner and comes up from behind to hit the woman from behind with the butt of his shutgun but the blow of Schmitty moves her out the path of the weapon so that Greg whiffs on his blow.
Rest of you can act in any order as there are no Sickos yet to go this round. Actions will occur in the order they are posted. For those shooting into range without Precise Shot remember there is a -4 penalty to the shot. If you miss but roll within 4 of the target's AC that will mean you may have hit the person engaged in melee.

Marcus Magnum |

ROUND 2
Marcus moves away from the canoes towards the center of the island and keeps a look out for more trouble. He is not going to engage in melee with the sickos both due to own survival standard operating procedures and by suggestion from Dr. Whittaker to avoid contact with the sickos. In addition, he has not received proper precise shooting classes to shoot into melee nor is he going to walk in front of Dr Whittaker's sniper rifle's muzzle especially after that last shot, "Brave but nice shooting Dr. Whittaker! However, I will not take that same risk until I have precise shooting training or experience. Besides, I don't think Schmitty and Richard want brain matter blown all over their faces or take a bullet if we should miss?"

[dice=Spot]1d20+2
[dice=Search]1d20+2
I should have specified one check but I myself am struggling to find a definitive guide on when something is a Spot check and something is a Search check. I think that the above check should be a Spot Check as you are trying to Notice something versus trying to Find something.
Marcus moved to a better vantage point his eyes scanning the water all around him but he doesn't notice anything alarming.
Edwin Harrison |

Please don't break you stupid paddle: 1d200 ⇒ 86
Edwin takes another swing with his paddle trying to put the sicko down.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 Damage: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Please, I'm begging you. Edwin is old and needs every advantage he can naturally get: 1d100 ⇒ 61

Marcus Magnum |

Marcus keeps scanning the north side, "All clear up here so far. One of these days when we find a more secure area, then I will be able to look up more on this sicko zombie threat on what remains of the Internet, the darknets, and maybe DISA and/or CDC if I can crack in? Not like the feds are going to show up on my door, the next day. It is too dangerous to do that now for us or the gear."

RocksAhead |

With a loud thud Edwin puts down the last of the Sickos to reach the small island. Schmitty and Brian take a second to check out each others shirts. Their jackets had rips in them as if they were clawed by a bear. There was blood showing on both of their shirts. They both took off their shirts to better inspect the wounds. Brian seemed to have gotten the worst of it as there were two separate tracks off four scratches about 9 inches long. The cuts were not too deep but bleeding. Schmitty had a single track of 4 cuts only about 6 inches long along his left side along the bottom of his rib cage. Both looked at each other and then at JoJo. The two of them laughed they made it through.
After a few minutes of reorganizing the campsite and tossing the bodies into the lake the sun rose in Eastern sky. It was a sight that brought comfort to the campers and safety. Another wave of 4 sickos was discovered by the early morning light and the people with guns were able to dispatch them before they ever got to land.
The things must have walked here on the bottom of the lake drawn by our noise. Greg said as he lowered his shotgun after dispatching the last of the second wave. Well we have light now. I suggest we get moving. It may be a long day today. And we need to find something to eat soon.
Alright everybody made it through Night 1 of Apocalypse. Every morning in game time I will tell you what XP was earned the previous day. From destroying the 7 sickos and discovering that there was an Apocalypse everyone gets 125 XP. Greg is suggest a return to Sandy Point Parking Lot and finding food. Marcus still has Edgar's key ring but is the truck there or was it lost to the Canterburys' treachery. What's next on the agenda? Finding food? Finding shelter? Finding non-breakable weapons? Finding information? Where do you suggest looking for said objective? This campaign is hyper-realism meaning if you check out the village of Ely on Google Maps that is what this town looks like for the most part in this campaign. If you see a place on Google Maps that you want to check out that hasn't been observed yet you will need to roll a Knowledge check to see if you remember passing it 30 days ago. The base DC for these checks is 15 but if it is really obscure than it may be 20. I will accept any knowledge skill that you can relate to the location. Such as Knowledge (Popular Culture) for a cultural center or Theology for a church. Places you are currently aware of Sandy Point (parking lot), Backwoods (Tour Company) and the Resort.

Marcus Magnum |

So we have 1,125 xps? 1000 = 1st level.
Marcus makes his weapon safe, holsters while noding with Greg. Keeping his voice low, "More reason to keep our voices low and be as quiet as possible. Healthy people can hear us too and they may be worse than the sickos?" Marcus smiles, "Imagine someone like me with a worse moral compass than I?" Then chuckles uneasily quietly, he continues quietly, "I have survival skills in which we can find food but we are exposed. We can try the resort but it maybe over ran with zombies and/or people that do not want us there? Of course, the opposite maybe true and the humans want to increase their force multiplier in dealing with the sickos? Normally, in the event of an ELE, Nuclear War, major disaster, you want to leave populated areas and travel or live in very low populated areas to reduce exposure and refugees of any sort."
Marcus is going to call them sickos until he can update his knowledge regarding zombies.

RocksAhead |

So we have 1,125 xps? 1000 = 1st level.
Correct all PCs have 1125 XP at this point 3000 required to make level 3. Roughly 100 XP from the sickos and 25 XP from story objectives. Basically the more you do the more XP you will generate. These Sickos are not much xp in of themselves so you will gain the majority of your XP through completing survival objectives. Also FYI Schmitty and Brian are level 1 NPCs and Greg is level 3. They all are gaining XP at the same rate as you PCs.

Johnathan "JoJo" Jones |

With a loud thud Edwin puts down the last of the Sickos to reach the small island. Schmitty and Brian take a second to check out each others shirts. Their jackets had rips in them as if they were clawed by a bear. There was blood showing on both of their shirts. They both took off their shirts to better inspect the wounds. Brian seemed to have gotten the worst of it as there were two separate tracks of four scratches about 9 inches long. The cuts were not too deep but bleeding. Schmitty had a single track of 4 cuts only about 6 inches long along his left side along the bottom of his rib cage. Both looked at each other and then at JoJo. The two of them laughed they made it through.
JoJo joins the near hysterical laughter amplifying their madness. I mean someone actually tried to kill them and they attacked back. They'd never done this before. Never thought of it as a possibility. So yeah, they shared a very crazy laugh.
The things must have walked here on the bottom of the lake drawn by our noise. Greg said as he lowered his shotgun after dispatching the last of the second wave. Well we have light now. I suggest we get moving. It may be a long day today. And we need to find something to eat soon.
After the giggles subside the seriousness of the situation settles in. "Certainly ain't getting back to sleep," he says in agreement with Greg. Might as well see the damage. Were they stuck walking thanks to the Canterbury's? Was the resort still there? Was the town still there? He carefully packs his stuff, eyes watching the edge of the water for anymore zombies.
Agree with Greg to at least head back to the truck and then the resort.

RocksAhead |

The two NPCs are wounded. Brian lost 6 hp. Schmitty lost 3 hp. Not sure if any of the doctor's would like to treat them or not.
With a medical kit, if a character has lost hit points, the character can restore some of them. A successful check, as a full-round action, restores 1d4 hit points. The number restored can never exceed the character’s full normal total of hit points. This application of the skill can be used successfully on a character only once per day.
So a Treat Injury check can be attempted for each character and it take only a single round to do so. If you don't have a medical kit you take a -4 to the check but I thought Geoffrey had a medical kit. Richard has a first aid kit which is useful for other Treat Injury checks such as stabilize dying but would still have a -4 for not having the Medical Kit.

Edwin Harrison |

Edwin helps pack up and get the canoes ready. He washes whatever residue the impacts had on the paddle in the river.
"Ready." he says simply. "We could probably find more food at the resort, though running into more of these things is as good as guaranteed if there this tough. And we all have stuff we'd like to get to back at our vehicles."

Geoffrey Whittaker |

"Hang on guys... before we go anywhere, let me take a look at your wounds..."
Treat Injury - Brian: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31, for 1d4 ⇒ 3 healing.
Treat Injury - Schmitty: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16, for 1d4 ⇒ 3 healing.

Johnathan "JoJo" Jones |

"Hang on guys... before we go anywhere, let me take a look at your wounds..."
"Oh shit. You guys are bleeding a lot." They had laughed it off at first but now that he got a good look, he realized infection might be an issue. He leaves it to the good German doctor to patch them up enough to get better care.

Marcus Magnum |

Keeping his voice down and his head on a swivel ...
"After everyone is bandaged up, let's head out back to everyone's vehicle? That way, we can have more vehicles for safety and gather people's things. If things get bad, I will throw the truck in reverse if the Canterburys did not extend their treachery to the pickup or in your view point's, take the truck."
Marcus stands by his pack, not wanting to put it on his back nor the canoe until everyone is ready to go.

Yael Dahan |

Stifling a yawn, Yael folds her arms across her chest. The lack of sleep manifested itself as a slight prickling in the corner of her eyes, but Yael doubted that even if they had been somewhere safer if she would be able to sleep. The insurgents she had faced while with the Mossad had showed a sick, bestial side of man, taking sadistic joy in inflicting maximum pain. But they had been human at least. These... sickos... these were something else. The men who tortured her had made her never want to wake up. The new monsters made her never want to sleep.
Let's get a move on. Hopefully the truck is still there. I think we should head back to the parking lot after we pick it up. I have another truck and some supplies in it. I know Jojo said he had another gun in his. Getting some food, weapons, and a few vehicles to transport us around would be nice.
Her head nods absentmindedly as she trails off as a thought strikes her.
Do you think these sickos are everywhere? Like, in the cities...
She violently shakes her head.
I guess we'll just have to see what shape the town is in.
