![]() I sleep propped up against one of the dock posts and even when not sleeping am very still. I keep a wary eye on our surroundings and tr to mentally gauge the distance between myself and any possible cover. If the night goes uneventfully, I rise early and do some morning stretches and a short jog, always keeping one side to the river so as not to get lost. I have updated my character sheet to reflect my new mithril shirt. ![]()

There is no need to be so defensive sir. the constable is the one who left me with the keys and told us to do as we wish. I was simply asking for your help as a courtesy. I didn't want to wrinkle any feathers during our short stay here. If you insist on seeing the writ, you are welcome to go upstairs and get it from my companion. Diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Which is how democracy works. Bring back enlightened despotism. Anything that was culled likely never would have been seen by judges anyway. They typically looked at the top 100 maybe a little further if they just really really wanted to golden ticket something. ![]()
![]() It is 30. (If you want to check for yourself you can go to the paizo store pull up a flip mat and count) As far as scanning and printing you may have to go to a local print this copy that or Office depot or something to get the file printed/scanned. If you do it on graph paper it will end up way to small and would look really sad when blown up. I don't have a scanner either so this is my plan. ![]()

![]() Its considered very very VERY bad form. Imagine making something you cred a great deal about and then watching people trash it and not being able to say anything. It also says on the voting page "Do not discuss individual entries on the messageboards during the voting period.

![]() I'm fine with whatever. I do just want to let everyone know. This is my first play-by-post so if I break some sort of online rule or something it isnt intentional, just let me know. ![]()
![]() Note: This is just my speculation. I don't think it will be an encounter size map as that is Round 4. The point he seems to be making with the forest example is that if you zoom out that far the whole thing needs to interesting and worth mapping. In his example, you might map the town but there's no real reason to map the forest or road unless there is something unique about it. What I took from this is if you zoom in to far there won't be enough space to do anything interesting and Superstar with but zoom out to far and you will end up with a lot of pointless dead space that doesn't need to be mapped. ![]()

![]() Culls allow paizo to spread the pack out, by cutting the bottom x% those items no longer are getting paired with the good items that get an auto vote just because the other item is not very well done, or isn't formatted, or is a joke item. Post cull you take a group of relatively closely clumped items and force them to be separated out by being compared only to each other. If you want to just don't look at the items I've seen thread and you will never know if you were culled or not. The contest isn't to see how many people paizo can get to vote. It's to find the best designer. If the culled people stop paying attention after the cull, that's sad because it means they wont get better. But it is still good for the contest over all. ![]()

If getting rejected once is enough to make you quit this might not be the job for you. Its a lot of rejection. the cull was larger this year because it was done so late in voting. This helps spread the pack out. take out most of the not so good items and people have to start comparing decent items as opposed to obv better to obv worse. From what I understand it was roughly 50%. That means that somewhere between 400-500 items where ahead of yours. It isn't bad for the industry, it's good for the contest. ![]()

![]() I think that's the exact thing we disagree on. I look at the top 32 from last year and I don't see overpowered items or judge comments about being broken but fixable. I see well designed and balanced items. The public will vote for a well designed balanced item with good flavor over an overpowered item. Even just reading the critique thread for this year you see a lot of players and GM's complaining about how they would never vote for such a powerful item. Balance and flavor are the name of the game. ![]()

![]() I think I'm alone here but if your item isn't formatted properly (no bold, italics, pieces missing such as cost or slot) I don't even read it. To me that says you didn't read the rules and submit what was asked which does not make for a good designer. Next I look to make sure that the item uses terms that actually exist in the game, after that I look for cohesive theme and symmetry. At that point I pretty much always have a winner. ![]()
