Best of luck to everyone. All the items I've seen this weekend could be in the top 32, so even if you don't make it, know you crafted a great item.

And congrats to every single item of my workshop friends. All of you made it through 5 culls. Not too shabby!

I have only voted in 2 RPGSS's, but I have to say that the quality was consistently higher in the Open Call for Season 9 than it was for Season 8 only a few months ago. This was a good field.

I look forward to seeing what the community has to offering and watching the interviews on Know Direction.
I have a feeling this particular season will be one to remember.

Agreed! Good luck top 200 ish!

Thanks, I'm still in this thing, good luck to all the other top 200's as well.

Silver Crusade Marathon Voter Season 9

Yes, everyone that is in the contest still good luck. I am awaiting to see some awesome maps in the next few days.

To all those who attempted and have not, or will not make it to the top 32, congrats for putting yourself out there. Do not let getting culled discourage you from attempting again. Don't give up and keep trying if this is what you want to do.

I have entered the competition for many years now. As far as I can tell this is the farthest I have ever made it out of any of them. I am honored to stand side by side with the 200+ contenders. As the thread says good luck to all who entered and are still in it and I second Loradin's mention of those who entered. Wait for the critique your item thread later when the first round is along and learn from what advice is given.

This the farthest I've made it too!

Good luck everyone! I look forward to being able to talk about the Items I loved without DQing people.

Good luck to everyone still in the running. I look forward to seeing which ones actually make it through to the Top 32.

Yeah, congrats to all the other cull-survivors. This is my first year and I thought I had a pretty solid idea. I'm pretty stoked to have just made it this far.

And hey, anyone that submitted, good for you, you took a chance and hopefully this experience makes you a better player, gm, or designer.

Lastly, thanks to anyone voted, literally couldn't do it without you guys.

Well done everyone who wrote up an item and entered the contest, as many others have said it is not easy to put your ideas up for public scrutiny.

Good luck to everyone who is still in the running. I look forward to seeing which items make the Top 32 this season.

There were very few entries that didn't elicit an immediate smile from me. And the ones that didn't...well....that's what the CMI thread will be for.

I HIGHLY doubt I will have another Ghost Moon Bow rant this year. But, ONE item tweaked my toes along the same avenue as that bow did.

Good luck everyone, I'm PROUD to have competed with everyone who submitted.

Almost every item I saw (In fact, I can't think of any off bat that didn't) showed a glimmer of a really great designer, somewhere in there. Not everyone can win, and that's the nature of competition.

For those that got culled, I'm proud to have competed against you. You put up one hell of a competition.

For those you didn't, this year it is a close race; I feel like it is honestly anyone's match this year. I'm fairly excited to see the top 32, the 4 alternates...
AND the top 100.

Thank you for voting, everyone, and thank you so much for submitting!

I think that for me personally this has been the most enjoyable season yet. You're all great to talk to and worry with.

Folks in the culled group: Do not fret. Please stick around, enjoy the contest, and learn for next year!

Those who survived: Right now we are all schrödinger's cat. At this moment, we've all both supped the sweet air of victory and eaten bitter humble pie. Both are equally likely at this point, so remember how they taste. :)

Good luck to all the competitors! And also, good luck to everyone who doesn't make it, whether you were culled early or narrowly missed out on the top 32--it's one thing to want to be published, and it's another thing entirely to go for it. Learn much and try again, in a 3PP endeavor or in RPGSS next year!

I regret not being able to favor this post several times ;-)

To those who were culled (and those who will be), the temptation is great to let all this behind you and forget about the rest of the rounds. I know that because I did it last season.

Don't.

Stay tuned with the contest.

I wish I had done this last season because I would not be so hard pressed to read all these detailed map reviews they put out then. So, now I am going to keep up with all the rounds even if I am culled in a few hours, because that will grant me a leg up next season ;-)

Jumping in to say:

Great work! There were many, many good entries this year. There were some errors and some jokes out there, but still great ideas! To those that entered for the first time, make sure you enter again next season (unless you make Top 8 or break into the business and become ineligible).

Good luck to the Top 32+Alternates! I look forward to wading through the Critique my Item Thread. I think that I might try my hand at running through the pages and offering my own humble opinions.

Again, Great season so far everyone! Can't wait to see which designers make Top 32 this year and what they have to offer us for the rest of this season.

Good luck to everyone. There were a lot of good items in the pool. It is anybody's bet.

Is it too late to enter? *runs, hides*

Good luck folks, and don't be too discouraged if you don't make the top 32. Just because you didn't advance doesn't mean you don't have promise as a designer—there are many good designs and designers that won't advance, so you're not alone.

If you're serious about pursuing RPG design, learn from the experience, strive to improve your writing and understanding of the game, and redouble your efforts. And don't just wait for the next RPGSS—explore and pursue other avenues.

If you entered simply to have fun, well, it was fun seeing all of those creative items and casting your votes, wasn't it? For even more enjoyment, stick around for the following rounds.

If you do advance, congratulations! Savor the moment, do a spin move, and then give us your best in Round 2.

Best of luck to everyone. Whatever the result for the top 32, I am sure the contest will be fierce.

I know that if I am to place this year I would look forward to the strong competition that is to be had.

:-)

I think this quote states best what we should expect this year.

Miyamoto Musashi wrote:

Paraphrased wrote:

“The only reason a RPGSS is alive is to write, and the only reason a RPGSS writes is to win”

― Miyamoto Musashi, A Book of Five Rings: The Classic Guide to Strategy

and some further wonderful advice;

Miyamoto Musashi wrote:

“The primary thing when you take a sword in your hands is your intention to cut the enemy, whatever the means. Whenever you parry, hit, spring, strike or touch the enemy's cutting sword, you must cut the enemy in the same movement. It is essential to attain this. If you think only of hitting, springing, striking or touching the enemy, you will not be able actually to cut him.”

― Miyamoto Musashi, The Book of Five Rings

Best of luck everyone, I hope to meet you all on the RPGSS battlefield!

Now, some folks are saying don't be discouraged if you don't make it to the top 32. But hey, it can be rough. I know I made the cull last year, but when I didn't make it to the top it hit a lot harder than I thought it would, and I stopped checking in with the contest. But I still came back this round, and I intend to be a little more involved even if I'm not in the Superstar running. Take it easy on yourself, and do what you have to do to press on in other ways, even if that means taking some time to recover.

I also recommend looking for other ways to get yourself out there. Wayfinder is a great way to get involved and keep creating, as others have mentioned. :)
