Male Human Peasant
I'm thankful for the opportunity to play with you all. It was short but very immersive.
I just feel my character is (and maybe I am, myself) lost, so I'll respectfully withdraw from the new iteration of the campaign.
I wish the best of luck for the remaining players and you, DM.
Male Human Peasant
Yeah, I think that with six players on the run and the seventh having dropped out since October, this becomes a cutscene. Let's wrap this up, I guess.
Male Human Peasant
Hans flees, cursing whoever idea it was for him to carry a missive to a clearly cursed hamlet on halloween night.
Male Human Peasant
I get the feeling that my character won't be able to do anything, so I'm open to a cut-scene resolution and picking up in 2024.
Once we restart we can run with a leaner team.
Male Human Peasant
Hans (33): 1d100 ⇒ 71 Ooph.
The blood drains from Hans' face, and he takes a step back, whispering a stuttering prayer to Sigmar.
Sounds like our peasant boy is about to flee!
Male Human Peasant
atk: 1d100 ⇒ 10
def: 1d100 ⇒ 39
Male Human Peasant
Melee 30 Atk: 1d100 ⇒ 84
Melee 30 Def: 1d100 ⇒ 47
Male Human Peasant
Hans swings once more, desperately, letting out a battle cry appropriate for a peasant.
Attack: 1d100 ⇒ 98
Male Human Peasant
I'm getting some really bad rolls so far. My melee is pretty low, but I'm regularly getting 70+ results.
Male Human Peasant
Hans swings his weapon again, attacking the woman with the bow.
Attack: 1d100 ⇒ 88
Male Human Peasant
Hans has no idea what is happening, but defends himself by smacking the nearest foe with his axe.
Attack: 1d100 ⇒ 72
Male Human Peasant
Feeling like the only option is to go forward, Hans cautiously ventures deeper into the dungeon, following the religious song.
Male Human Peasant
Hans nods, and grabs the candle to shed some light on the situation.
Male Human Peasant
I’m really lost in this campaign and like I’m losing track of the plot
Male Human Peasant
Hans goes down the trapdoor first.
Male Human Peasant
If Hans can’t see a trapdoor, he slams his axe into the nearest spot in the floor to open it.
Male Human Peasant
"It's a stalemate otherwise," Hans says, and joins Gottfried. He looks down, and pulls out his axe, looking for a trapdoor.
Male Human Peasant
I'm getting this feeling that the Dullahan wants our cooperation, but from Hans' limited perspective, that would be an insane thing to do unless we have some kind of guarantee of good faith and know what he is.
Male Human Peasant
Let's push.
Hans, terrified at the horrible events that befell his neighborly town, is cognizant that this is a point where all people must step up.
He looks around, seeing the different companions he has--all look greater than he, and nods to himself.
This is a point of destiny.
He slams his foot down as he takes a step ahead, pushing himself through his terror and shouting out the window with all his will, "We're not givin' it back, monster! Leave and trouble us no more!"
Male Human Peasant
Hans nods nervously, and looks out the window.
What do I see?
Male Human Peasant
"What is he talking about? Hans gasps after he releases the heavy barricade. "Do you have something of his?"
Male Human Peasant
Hans barges in, taking shelter from the wolves in the shadowed room. He has his ax at the ready, but looks around urgently.
"Gottfried, Thryik, help me move one of these machines to block the door!" he shouts, pushing anything that looks heavy enough to move.
Male Human Peasant
”Let me try,” Hans says, and the peasant raises the ax to slam it into the window chains, leveraging them out of place.
1d100 ⇒ 33
Male Human Peasant
Male Human Peasant
Hans nods, adrenaline pushing him beyond thinking about the fact that he helped murder a man, and runs with Gottfried towards the windmill.
Male Human Peasant
Male Human Peasant
I'll see if I understood this well:
1. I must succeed against my own weapon skill (which also determines the hit location when the roll result is reversed)
2. My roll must also be better than the opponent's opposed check (which they get automatically)
3. Depending on how good my roll is (compared to my WS), I get success levels (a roll of 1 compared to 21 WS is a +2 SL success)
4. I deal 1d10 + SL in damage (plus any other bonuses from traits or weapons)
Male Human Peasant
Hans pulls out his smaller axe, and moves to strike the evil axeman.
Attack, WS 31: 1d100 ⇒ 25
Damage: 1d10 ⇒ 9
Are the rules for combat online? I am not 100% what bonuses are added to my damage roll of 1d10.
Male Human Peasant
Hans intercepts the axeman with his shield, ramming into him.
WS: 1d100 ⇒ 81
Ok, that is a huge failure.
Reroll w/fortune WS: 1d100 ⇒ 89
Welp...
Male Human Peasant
Can I use my turn to knock the axeman off-balance using my shield to open him up to my allies' counterattack?
Male Human Peasant
I'm shooting from my own bow; the one I took from the arsenal.
Male Human Peasant
I'm carrying my axe, but I think I can make a bow attack if I'm allowed to.
Bow: 1d100 ⇒ 64
Male Human Peasant
Hans pales but does not step away.
"What should we do?" he asks, turning to Gottfried. The apparently 16-year old seemed to be the leader of the band. To Hans, that indicated that he had an unexpected measure of courage and trust from the rest.
Male Human Peasant
Hans readies his weapon, standing aside Gottfried and backing him.
Male Human Peasant
Not sure if we're waiting for something, but I'll post.
Hans pushes towards the windmill, driven by both knowledge and fear.
Male Human Peasant
Hans carries his new weapons with the air of a man who knows only the principles of how to use them, and joined the rest.
Male Human Peasant
Hans nods with Gottfried, and picks up a bow and a couple of arrows as well.
Male Human Peasant
Hans nods, swallowing up his fears and taking solace that there are solid-looking combatants in the high elf and dwarf. He picks up a buckler shield, a handaxe, and putting on a leather jack.
I'm not sure how proficient Hans is. Can he use any weapon?
Male Human Peasant
"I am no great warrior or lord, dear sirs, but it appears to me that you are good-meaning travelers," Hans says empathically. "I came here to deliver a missive to your benefactor, but it seems we cannot leave this place without finding greater risk. I will lend you my aid."
Male Human Peasant
I am loving the ambience, DM.
"The short version, please, good sir," Hans says, clutching the letter tightly. "From the darkness, I might just believe we are in geheimnisnacht."
Male Human Peasant
Hans nods shakily, but pauses, glancing at the beacon of light.
"There's a light out there, sirs," he says, wiping the rain from his forehead and pulling damp hair back. He tucks the letter under his tunic, and turns to the rest. "Are you expecting other travelers?"
Male Human Peasant
Good enough, perhaps Hans thought that Thyrik was a traveler and offered companionship, and told him that he is heading to Hallt to deliver a message, and Thyrik thought to join up and operate in the innocent peasant's shadow?
Male Human Peasant
Right back at you, you charming rogue you.
@Thyrik: What do you think about pairing up during our travel? I imagine Hans was instructed to deliver a message containing a warning to the local noble that there are signs of a Chaos incursion. He can travel well but is not the best fighter.
Male Human Peasant
The man swerves to face Gottfried, seeing the shaking youth under a flickering torch.
"No, sir," he answers. "I'm from Bulgenbach, the next town over. I have a message to deliver to--"
Hans pauses, and glances into the guard room, seeing the dead officer with her head on her lap. His falls silent, and pales.
"W-what happened here?" he asks, taking a few steps back from the men.
Male Human Peasant
A flickering light enters the guardhouse, cast by a distant flame. A cloaked figure stands by the gate, torch raised. Far from appearing sinister, the figure looks weathered from the road, and peers in cautiously.
The figure's cloak is drenched and caked with grime from travel, and carries an envelope with his left hand, as his right hand brings the torch closer to shed light through the dark evening.
"Hello?" comes a voice from outside. "Do the men of Hallt still occupy this post?"

I imagine Hans to be something of a human Samwise Gamgee character--a simple man who supports greater men. With that in mind, here is his Doom and Motivation.
Doom: Hans' doom was foretold as so:
'You will pass a threat you do not know of, and lean on what cannot hold your weight. Only your final hour will you know if your faith was misplaced.'
Motivation:
This is a pickle...
Hans has much faith in the divines and innocent confidence in the socio-economic structure of the Empire. He is horrified of the legends of Chaos, and the legends of wicked women and children taken to the woods are transformed into beastmen, though he never faced one in combat. In the seasons where he does not have farmwork to do, he often runs minor courier duties, where his read/write and orientation can help.
Knowing all that, his short-term motivation is to help protect the region/home front while the soldiers are fighting abroad by helping a great hero. I don't know exactly that era we're in when it comes to the narrative canonical meta of Warhammer (are we close to the End Times for example), so my motivation is going to be vaguely "Aid a hero in protecting the region by putting down one big threat."
Preferably chaos-related, but more mundane threats such as a local bandit chief could also work.
I also haven't chosen my Doom. Should I make up anything?
@Pin: Thanks for the heads up!
Tough: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (5, 5) + 20 = 30
Dex: 2d10 + 20 ⇒ (6, 5) + 20 = 31
Brass Pennies: 4d10 ⇒ (2, 1, 8, 2) = 13
So if I'm not mistaken, we need to invest advancements into those attributes and spend 100 XP to exit into another career that is linked to our first career.
Male Human Peasant
@DM: Hey all. Hans here.
When should we join the narrative?
