”Oh no no no no no. It’s a lurker in light. Sadly, these creatures are sadistic and cruel and did I mention malicious. it is one of the few vicious evil creatures that likes the light. You might actually see it better in dimmer light. The worst part is that it hates gnomes more than all other creatures. I think I’m going to be sick. Help me.”

Carrufikus turns an even paler shade of white and retreats.

As the gnome pilgrim strolls into Otari, recognition takes over and it becomes clear to him that this is the place he saw in his dream.

The lighthouse! Oh my Starsong, can this be it?!

The gnome reaches deep into his pocket. His fingers take hold of a silver star pip covered cube. He removes it for a moment, gives it a gentle kiss, and then replaces it securely back to his pocket.

The houses look like so many others, but the lighthouse is unmistakable. Your dream was so vivid. You clearly meant for me to remember this.

”Oh my Resplendent Goddess of Good Fortune, thank you for guiding me here! The butterflies were most helpful.” He whispers.

Now, whom am I going to meet here? I cannot wait!

Unfazed by what others may think, he stops to dance a little jig on the side of the road.

I wonder if I will meet the woman with the blonde hair, the one writing a letter? Her focus was unmistakable. She must have been a scholar of sorts. Maybe there is a school in town where she resides.

Carrufikus begins to skip down the street, looking around in wonder as he goes.

Then there was that human man, the graceful disciplined one. From his simple attire, I wonder if he was a monk. However, for the life of me, I cannot imagine why he has a strange attraction to birds.

Carrufikus stops and looks around to see if he spots anything flying above.

"Hmm. No sign of him yet."

Maybe, just maybe I will meet that rapier wielding young halfling? Wow! Imagine if I see her use that blade! She also clearly loved to eat and drink, especially beer. Maybe I can find her at a nearby eatery.

Carrufikus decides to dance an extra loop around a nearby tree before continuing down the street.

”My dear Starsong, guide me in my every step that I may be brought to the place you showed me in my dreams.” He faithfully affirms to himself.

”I do wonder about that blue caped man in my dream who was lying in the grass looking up at the sky. Where might he be located? He looked like a master at avoiding work. His axe was doing a great job resting against the side of a tree. He sounds like just my sort! I cannot wait to meet him.”

Carrufikus stops and looks around for any fallen logs in the town. Not seeing any in particular, he continues to skip down the street making his way into the town center, elation abundant and joy abounding.

Gig Razorbyte uses his year to rest for a while from adventuring and dedicates his life to practicing his keyboarding. When not practicing, he developed an instrument called the Stellar Degenerator X-705. The contraption has thousands of dials and gadgets as well as banks of keyboards stacked high upon each other. With this new instrument, he then forms a band called Gig Razorbyte and the Magic Rock Ensemble.

Gig and his band create his first recording, “On the Edge”. The recording contains many hit singles including “Just Hack It,” “Tak’n them down Dunk Style!”, and the “Rockin with Janzi”. Gig takes his band on the road and with his hit singles, and delivers a very successful tour throughout the Pact Worlds. His show includes moments of hurling magic missiles into his keyboard during intense solos followed by an explosion where Gig dimension doors away as the stage erupts in an explosion of pyrotechnics. The tour has many sold out shows and Gig makes a fair amount of profit.

With the profits Gig invests in a new chewing gum idea. He develops a chewing gum that keeps its flavor after a thousand chews and allows the chewer to make Booker Bubbles. For those that do not know what that is, they are smoke filled bubbles within other bubbles. In fact, Gig markets his new gum as “Big Booker Bubble Gum”. After a great year, he starts to reminisce about the good old days with his adventuring buddies.

Tybekk draws Brynn closer and tries to whisper to her, but everyone can still hear him. "Yae've got a wee nest of twigs in yer hair. I ran this four times at PaizoCon. After running it with 3 gp/day for the first three sessions, the entire downtime activity became silly. It felt like the entire exercise was nothing but a time waste.

However, on my last session, each day I deducted 1 gold per npc hired. Sometimes it was fifteen gold. Sometimes it was nine gold. It finally all made sense. That is what was clearly intended. Most groups will be able to finish all of their tasks, but they may need to do some of the work themselves. It certainly helps players to have a character or two trained in crafting.

I built a page on Roll20 where I had one token for each task as well as a token for each npc. NPCs were labeled with a C for carpenter, B for blacksmith, S for stonemason, and SG for a sage. Everyone had control over all the tokens and they also moved the progress on each token that I used for downtime tasks. They crossed out tasks that were completed. I also gave them the DCs of the tasks in each task token and this helped speed up the process.

We finished in about four hours fifteen minutes, however I did skip the midge fight and the second wave of undead. Overall, I loved this scenario, and my players did as well. I admit, it runs long, but it really helps when players are organized and can communicate well with each other. Otherwise, you are certain to run out of time.

Gig looks at the charcoal murals and comments, "What do you guys think of these titans in the picture? Did I ever tell you about the time that Thrul Magnar was giving a benefit concert and he inflated two giant renkrodas on the stage. When one of them started to leak and deflate, we ended up with an angry crowd that began pushing against the stage. It was touch and go for a minute when we thought a riot was about to break out. In a tense moment, I got a backup air pump up and working and I saved the concert. Thrull sure was pleased with my handiwork that day!"

"Alright, lets pretend I'm Booker and see if I can shoot any better."

Gig tries to mimic the actions of the ace pilot and shoot down this alien!

Azimuth Laser Pistol: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

"Woohoo! Look at me boys, I more than just a looker, I'm Booker!"

”Booker, can you explain to me what exactly happened to the Hippo? Didn’t you put the parking break on when you left?! I thought you were a pilot and knew how to park ships and stuff?! What are we supposed to do now? I can’t live here in this death trap for long! Those blue beasties are going to come and eat me up sooner or later. This pistol will help for a little while, but even these weapons are going to run out of charges. I mean, we don't have unlimited batteries." Gig goes into hushed tones at this moment. "I also have a secret to tell you. Please don’t tell the others, but I really don't know how to shoot these lasers.”

"Come on, Booker! You've gotta loosen up a bit can't you? Can you imagine the sound you can get out of a craft like this?! With a big sound we could distract our enemies and it would allow us to sneak about. We could also jam out to some tunes and feel the inspiration of a great keyboard solo while we are here. As long as nobody puts on any of that Strawberry Machine Cake crap."

Hmm, thanks! That solved the problem. My last session is now registering as a Starfinder session. I still do not have my GM credits list under my sessions tab for each character (only actual played sessions) but at least my GM credits are adding up in the GM/event coordinator tab.

On p.6 pcs can choose long walk or side tunnels. Text indicates they make their check and use 1 table. So they choose the tunnels but the results are all about the checkpoints. Is this correct?

Joe, it looks like the choice is either navigating the Long Walk by using Diplomacy/Bluff or Knowledge (Dungeoneering)/Survival. The way I see it , either check determines how many checkpoints are bypassed and how much you have to pay in tolls/bribes. I see failing the bypass option as meaning you have to go through a checkpoint because you could not avoid it.

I was trying to figure out if I want to role play out one of these checkpoints. I don't think the scenario is expecting the GM to do that, but in terms of telling the story, it makes sense and would be fun. I'm just not sure if time will permit, especially if it breaks out into a fight.

I'm also wondering why duergar guards at a checkpoint would let any surface dwellers past. Wouldn't they be inclined to simply attack humans and other races from the surface, especially if they know a slave caravan filled with surface Dwarves is coming through? I'm just not sure that we would have more time for combat in this scenario, especially if there are multiple checkpoints.

Quick question - encounters B1 and B2 make reference to the "northern" and "southern" tunnels - are those the left/right side tunnels, or the larger (darker) openings that pass under the tower?

Mike, on the map on page 13, north is indicated as pointing to the top of the page. I see the "northern" tunnel as the top of the page and the "southern" tunnel as the bottom of the page.
