Correction: grab auto-fails due to Unrak's ring of freedom of movement. The pudding simply attacks on its turn instead, landing the hit (given the roll) and dealing the same damage, and then auto-failing to grab again. One more Reflex is needed for armor purposes on the second attack.

To clarify: John's armor is broken but not destroyed, meaning its AC bonus is halved and the ACP gets worse. He still has some protection (though his "armor skirt" is definitely gone). All of this assumes that I have correctly guessed what he was wearing (I think a +2 chain shirt plus the armor skirt) since his character sheet is missing.
