You can find some stats and plug-in ideas that I used on my own thread.

There are a couple of PFS scenarios, but they're based further out in the River Kingdoms and not in the Echo Wood area.

Here is the link to the Adventure Finder (by region).

The area is pretty ripe for sandbox adventures. If you use the Echo Wood map and key provided in Thornkeep, you'll see various potential seeds in the nearby ogres, fey, ghost towns, and even the dragon in the cave in the northern section of the Echo Wood.

My advice when starting the Emerald Spire is to give the players as many of the Adventure Hooks from the front of the module as soon as possible. I spent the first year running Thornkeep and trying to find organic ways to slowly introduce the players to various adventure hooks.

I had the players meet Jharun and Tiawask at Alieja's Crossing, long before they disappeared inside the Spire. I had the Hellknights give them the side quest of capturing the Numerian alchemist hiding beneath the Accursed Halls.

Well, all of those characters got retired, so all of the time setting up those hooks was wasted. I restarted everything by having the players meet together for the first time inside the tower of Abernard Royst inside Fort Inevitable.

There, he assembled various powers of the Echo Wood, such as Iliara Starcloack of the Goldenfire Order, Oleena Hollysong, the druid guardian of the Echo Wood, and the local Pathfinder from the Emerald Lodge (located inside the Stormcaller Tribe settlement north of the Crusader's Road crossroads). These NPCs are detailed in the Thornkeep Online module. You can just as easily use the NPCs listed inside the Emerald Spire module as well, such as High MOther Sarise and others.

If you have a copy of the Emerald Spire Campaign Cards, they are a big help. There are several cards with the adventure hooks illustrated on them. These are very useful to hand to the players. I'm running this over a VTT (Roll20), so I had to scan my card deck and upload the images one at a time to ROll20 for my players to see. I've put them all in a folder labeled "Campaign Cards" and the players can access them at any time for a reminder or tip.

That's my advice to get started. Just throw as many of these hooks as possible at your group. Different characters will latch onto different hooks and they will all serve the purpose of giving them the motivation to keep going into the Emerald Spire.

Good luck and keep on rolling!

My players cleared the first three levels of Thornkeep. There are still several left below, but we had a couple of players have to leave due to IRL changes. We decided to do a soft campaign reboot and restart with player characters at level one to begin the Emerald Spire.

We kept our timeline as a living timeline that carried on the effects of the previous year's worth of adventuring. We rolled the River Kingdoms forward along with the new Second Edition World of Lost Omens timeline and continued with the adventure by restarting at the doorstep of the Emerald Spire.

Part of my understanding of Pharasma's dislike of manipulating souls in certain ways is the disruption of the River of Souls, etc. So, no undead or making soul gems. But, what would her opinion be of someone bringing a Soul Gem to her domain with a simple, "I really didn't want anyone resurrecting this guy before you judged him and so made him unable to be rezzed. Not trying to block the flow of souls."

(quick edit: with the implication, of course, being that the soul's about to be freed from the gem)

She'd be annoyed and maybe furious at the person's pride and entitlement in thinking that they, some mere mortal, is equipped to decide who does and doesn't get to be part of the metaphysical ecosystem. That's basically the mortal saying, "I know what's best for this person's soul, not you, ancient goddess of death and life, so cool your jets and let me do my thing."

Pharasma can judge a soul the INSTANT the body dies. And honestly, in a setting where we didn't allow player characters to get resurrected, that's how it would work—resurrection would be a super rare event handled only by the storyline as needed, and would have entirely different flavor as for how Pharasma handled that sort of thing.

But since we have to have resurrection effects available to players, the game works the way it does, with the GM (aka Pharasma) being the one deciding when and if a soul gets judged before it gets resurrected.

May I piggyback on this? I'm running the Emerald Spire and wanted to use the "Chosen of Pharasma" hook from the PFMMO. How would Pharasma handle an in0game resurrection?

Thank you for the response.

Unfortunately, 95% of the players I've tried to recruit through here have managed little more than to waste a large chunk of my time.

Caveat emptor.

All the best, Paizo.

OK. Great. We are still looking! I'll shoot you a PM.

Healer needed. Oracle. Cleric. Vitalist. Whatever. If you heal, please travel.

Our next game is 5/20 and then 6/3 after that. We play from 7:30 pm EST to 10:30 pm EST every other Wednesday.

We have five players, but there is room for one more.

The party just hit second level. They're at the steps down to the second level. They are Mythic Tier one!

If you've ever wanted to try Mythic Adventures in a Super-dungeon, now is your chance.

Hi Nayr! Despite talking to several interested parties, we have not been able to fill the slot yet!

Do you have a particular character build in mind?

We've spent the past year clearing out most of Thornkeep. We did a light reboot to start the Emerald Spire proper. We're currently finishing the first level and have decided to open the game for one more player.

Our next session runs on May 6th from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm EST. We use Discord for voice and chat. You must find a way to fit into the group and being able to access voice on Discord is required to play.

Pathfinder First Edition. Mythic Adventures and so much more.

The current party consists of five characters:

tiefling stalker (Path of War martial class)

magic cat (Spheres of Power caster)

duergar aegis (Ultimate Psionics martial class)

suli time oracle

drow druid spider summoner

Sessions continue bi-weekly: 5/20, 6/3, etc.

Currently screening for one more player for our Wednesday night Emerald Spire campaign. We're talking to people on Roll20 as well, so express your interest sooner rather than later.

Stop by the thread for more info.

I highly recommend keeping a copy of GM's Miscellany: Dungeon Dressing from Raging Swan Press at hand while running these dungeons. It is extremely useful for filling in the little details.

Tables like Goblin Pockets, Miscellaneous Features: Junk & Rubble, and Mundane Chest Contents will help you answer questions that you didn't expect your players to have.

This book has 334 pages worth of tables like this to dress up your dungeon, to badly coin a phrase.

We've found our players for the Emerald Spire campaign. The call for applicants has closed again. Thank you!

We've found our extra players via the Roll20 forum. We'll close this thread for now. Thanks to everyone who expressed interest in the game.

I just opened a thread on Roll20. If you are interested, don't wait. I will begin screening applicants there immediately.

As of 1/1/20, we are re-opening recruitment for one new player. The next two games are scheduled for the 15th and the 29th @7:30 pm EST.

The party is currently 4th level with one mythic tier. They have been completing the levels beneath Thornkeep and have yet to enter the Emerald Spire.

Prospective applicants must be willing to play a class that compliments the party synergy. Our game consists of a mix of heavy roleplay and intense tactical combat in that inimitable Pathfinder First Edition style - with Mythic Adventures rules.

Current party composition consists of the following:
Azlanti warder
half-troll bloodrager
tiefling cleric/sorcerer
human vitalist

Thanks for stopping by.

Hi, James. I'm currently running an Emerald Spire campaign and was hoping you could help me with some post-Inner Sea changes. In the world of Lost Omens, the Worldwound has closed, so how would this affect the Hellknight orders of Ft.Inevitable?

They had been helping crusaders make their way up the Crusader Road. Would this change to helping new crusaders go to confront Tar Baphon? Is it a new crusade?

Thanks for your time.

To the OP, in the case of the invisible Visitant, only the first attack would be considered a sneak attack, unless it is acting before the PC in question. The subsequent attacks would not use sneak attack as its position is revealed after the first.

For the Forgotten Laboratory, I decided that Krenar was a Kellid from Silvermount who found himself in opposition to the Technic League. It was far enough back in his timeline that I figured it didn't matter if he was a former member of the League or just a local Kellid. It's fluid to make it work best for the campaign.

He traveled to Szamrak's Haven (see Numeria: Land of Fallen Stars) and allied himself with the android army therein. To this end, he traveled to the River Kingdoms and the Echo Wood in the search of ancient Azlanti artifacts to help the android army battle the Technic League.

Now he has a decent background and motivations for being in Thornkeep.

In order to beef up the threat of Krenar, I gave him an android enforcer named "IO" (pronounced eye-oh). He says "IO" before and after everything he says.

IO uses the stats for the Android Imposter presented in the Numeria Campaign Setting book. The same stats are also available on the d20pfsrd, for now.

To that end, I've decided to use the timeworn rules from Paizo's Technology Guide.

I also created a unique artifact to modify some of the goblins in the Accursed Halls encounters. There are only so many goblins PCs can fight and it not become an absolute slog.

Azlanti Force Bead:
Aura faint evocation; CL 10th; Slot —; Price 650 gp; Weight 1/10 lb.

Appearing as a simple pearl, this locus of compressed force magic expands around the user when held in hand. The force sphere encases the user and gives them the benefits of the force creature template (see Advanced Bestiary) for one minute. The sphere loses resonance and dissolves after the duration comes to an end.

For the upper levels of the Accursed Halls, I decided to add Azlanti artifacts that had been gathered by the goblins. There isn't much unique Azlanti technology or magic to be discovered in the module and I felt that this should be rectified.

I grabbed the Sunken Empires book from Open Design/Midgard Press and used their Ankeshellian artifacts for Azlanti discoveries. I won't list which ones I used here, rather just point out that book as a good sourcebook that can be used to enrich this module.

I'm running an Echo Wood campaign using Thornkeep and the Emerald Spire and there is not a dedicated thread that non-PFS GMs are allowed to use. I've literally been told not to post in PFS threads, so I may as well start a thread here.

My players started the campaign ostensibly with the desire to enter the Emerald Spire and explore it in its fullest. To that end, they had to gain the permission of the Hellknights in Ft.Inevitable, as the site is restricted due to it being a source of unending evil. They accepted a mission from the Hellknights to capture Krenar Half-Face, a Numerian Alchemist.

Krenar is currently hiding out in the Forgotten Laboratory beneath Thornkeep. The Hellknights reveal that he has been a thorn in their side and that they do not have the resources to track him down whilst maintaining law and order along the Crusader Road.

In the actual module, there is little to no motivation or backstory provided for Krenar. The design of the level is nice, but I had to modify a few things to make it more appealing to a group of seasoned Pathfinder players who've seen everything over the years.

In the following posts, I'll add some of my changes and additions to the module.

. . . Aaand we have a winner! We've found our extra player between here and the Roll20 forum.

We'll leave this thread closed for the time being.

Thanks!

Current Party Composition:

Tiefling Cleric
Azlanti Warder
Island Troll Conscript
Elven Exploiter Wizard
and Human Ranger (cohort)

Well, schedule changes have been brutal this week. We are holding strong at four players, but I am going to open recruitment again for an additional player.

Live game. Every other Wednesday. 7pm EST to 11 PM. Roll20 and Discord.

Apply here or shoot me a PM.

I'll send you a PM.

Recruitment closed. Thanks to all who expressed interest.

We have one spot left for our Emerald Spire campaign. The PCs are in the first level of Thornkeep at present, so you still have time to get in on all the glorious Emerald Spire exploration.

Recruitment thread here.

Six days until I close it again.

We're still early enough in the campaign, that you haven't missed anything.

Only one spot left for the game next Wednesday.

You can just send me a copy in whatever way works for you. I have Hero Lab, but any character sheet or link to one is fine.

I will PM you the discord link and we can follow up there.

Let me know when you get your characters sorted and I'll PM you the invite to the Discord server.

You haven't missed anything from the Emerald Spire yet, as the party has been in the upper level of Thornkeep.

Sounds good. They'll need a reason for wanting to go into the Emerald Spire. Like any good dungeon, rumors of powerful magics and ancient artifacts abound.

If need be, we can come up with something more personal by using the surrounding area of the Echo Wood. Thornkeep and Fort Inevitable are the two closest settlements with a variety of interesting NPCs in each.

They do not have a rogue at present. The ranger is just a ranged combatant.

Hi, Saashaa. We have a few power gamers in the group, so feel free to do as you like. We're using a 15 point build to keep the game from snowballing out of control, but other than that, players are free to play what they like.

We have one player using Path of War and another is using Spheres of Might, so we have a diverse group.

Yes. Everything is pretty much allowed, including various third party materials. I run everything by RAW as much as possible and follow current errata. So you are welcome to come up with what you like.

The party is pretty melee heavy at present, but there are no other restrictions. The build rules are the same as above. 15 points. Two traits per PC or three traits with one drawback taken.

They are currently second level and will hit third pretty soon. I am using milestones, so everyone will level up at the same time.

New PCs will start at second level with standard wealth by level for 2nd.

I am fine with mounts and companions. It is worth noting that this is a very heavy dungeon based adventure. We do spend time outside of the Thornkeep dungeons and the Spire in the forest or the surrounding roads, but underground, mounts would most likely be impractical.

Ok. Great! We are running on Roll20 and using Discord for voice chat.

I've listed the current party composition above. This game is a pretty heavy mix of roleplay and tactical combat.

What are you interested in playing?

We have two openings at present. I have PM'd Darthrancor above but have not heard back from him, so we'll fill those slots with whoever is interested.

Next game on the 19th.

Wednesday nights 7pm EST to 10/11pm EST.

Current party composition:

Tiefling Cleric
Azlanti Warder
Island Troll Conscript
Human Ranger

It's wide open for a proper arcane caster.

That's a little frustrating. *shrugs* C'est la vie.

Yeah, let me know! We'd be happy to come in if something changes (barring changes on our end of course). Good luck with the game if it doesn't though!. :D

I'm going to send you a PM. We have two openings if you and your friend want to join.
