Sidonia has a few fun filled hours with Aldern as she takes him to the Rusty Dragon. later they part ways, with just a hint of possible romantic interest from him.

Gradually everyone makes their way home and to sleep.

Early in the morning on the following day, everyone is preparing to go to the festival and get up with just that intent.

by 9am the streets are filled with out of towners visiting Sandpoint and most the town has gathered in the square before the Cathedral.

Mayor Deverin takes the stage at the stand before the church and starts.

Welcome everyone to the consecration of our Cathedral and this Swallowtail Festival. This a momentous occasion and I appreciate this grand turnout. Only a few have not. why look even Larz Rovanky, our Tanner has showed up. We all know Larz is hard put to be pried away from his work. However Larz, you didnt drag Das away from his forge I see. At any rate I truly hope you enjoy todays festivities. Drink, Eat, partake in the games, the social gathering and tomorrow you can return to work.

Sidonia stands with the Valdemar family, as requested by Ethram at least for the opening ceremony.

Barbie and Geroge stand near a tent where Jergie set up his table. Within hes cooking up his sampling for the cook off additionally he has a couple of imported kegs of ale from Riddleport.

Brahorn, Lavaille, and Persival all stand on the church side of the stand near Father Zanthus, Belor, and Naffer, along with the acolytes

Between now and next Tuesday Each day I will post one of the keynote speakers speech. Then Tuesday Ill post the cookoff.. Between my posts you may role play. I believe I have the name plates of all visible. Ill try and answer for the citizenry as I am able. Game on

indeed I had meant sacrifice...infernal autocorrect!!

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I based it on this formula
Each character received 2 +1's and 1 -1

Lavaille +1 Cathedral (work with Naffer), +1 Arcane Lore (Parents). -1 Townsfolk (duskelf appearance)

Brahorn +1 Cathedral (Champion of Saranrae), +1 Townsfolk (His family/and he is a field medic), -1 Sczarni (Champion)

George +1 Towns Watch (Bouncer at Pixie Kitten), +1 Varisian (Ancestry), -1 Townsfolk (works at Pixie Kitten)

Percy +1 Krakon Society (His Family), +1 Town Watch (Militia), -1 Sczarni (relationship with The Deverins)

Barbie +1 Varisian (Background and history) +1 Arcane Lore (Class), -1 Sczarni (relationship with Kaye Tesarini)

Sidonia +1 Krakon Society (Valdemar family) +1 Connecting to Maginmar (Background) -1 Townsfolk (because of how she feels)

maybe I misadded

I did. I corrected things

so what this means, its a dm modifier to diplomacy etc. and can have other perks or negatives.

and your actions in town can make a difference.

be aware some peoples affiliations are evident, others may not be. so you dont neccessarily know what the influence is all the time

1 person marked this as a favorite.

OK. So, heres my take on things. This group, is all around the same 'apparent' age, and all know each other and hang out with each other from time to time.

Sidonia- when you first go here, you stayed up in the manor, but it quickly was far too boring, so you moved to the shipyard holdings and moved into an office there, making it your home....so to speak. You help ...a little with paperwork involved. and generally are on good terms with your cousin Belvin (who is a little serious for your take) and Jhalevia The Harbormaster. Who's always chiding you on becoming more involved in the town, and to not look down on the folks here as you do.

All of you are aware Belor (the sherrif) is sweet on Lady Kaye (The madam).
Belor was a shoanti barbarian who traipsed into town a few years ago on a blood vendetta tracking an enemy of his tribe. Fell hard for Kaye, and stayed, becoming a deputy at the garrison. He was there the night Stoot, the serial killer, killed the Sherrif and he brought Stoot down. He was nominated as the new Sherrif shortly after, and has been doing a good job.

Hes not on good terms with his brother Garriden, who runs the white hart, dont know why.

Lady Kaye is on bad terms with the local criminals...The Sczarni. (who are like a Gypsy Mafia)...you dont know them all, but do know Jubrayl who is always trying to persuade Lady Kaye to 'join' them.

The temple burnt down 5 years ago, they have rebuilding it during that time. The closest thing to a place of worship in those 5 years, was the chapel to Saranrae at Naffer Vosks home, on the outskirts of the boneyard.

Tomorrow during the Swallowtail festival, they consecrate the grounds of the new church. Abstilar Zanthus has come . hes new. not well respected yet. only been here about the last 6 months. Came from Maginmar. he has been in and out of town, while the temple was being built talking to the builders (who also came from Maginmar) He started coming here about 4 years ago, but it was only recently he came to stay.

The Town Council currently is
Mayor: Kendra Deverin
Founders Seat: Gaven Deverin
Founders Seat: Ethram Valdemar
Founders Seat: Lonjiku Kaijistsu
Founders Seat: Titus Scarnetti
Merchant Seat: Savah Bevaniky
Varisian Seat: Niska Mvashti

It'll make more sense when I'm actually in combat. It helps me speed through it faster.

To clarify.

The thing that slows down pbp the most is combat.

So I have a way of doing it I promise will speed it up.

Part of that is me being able at a glance, without having to look up your last post, to see the things I need to.

So humor a dm who's been at it since 1975 ;) and doing pbp since the internet was made.

The Rise of the Runelord one will be more pertinent with Sandpoint. But ignore the traits obviously.

If you've played rise of the runelords it won't matter as much. But if you havent, there are events that they reference in the seven dooms book that haven't occurred at game start.

So leave that one alone. When we do the 17 year age up, you can read that one.

Experienced at PF1e, VERY new to PF2e, but willing to adapt and learn.

ABSOLUTELY want in on this if at all possible.

Will update soon on the character basics I'd like to submit.

I saw you had limited knowledge of pf2.

So nuts and bolts three biggest changes.

1. 3 action economy. Instead of 2
2. Character races (ancestry) and classes are fundamentally different. Pathbuilder is a huge boon. The basic is free. But for full access to everything pony up the $4.99 cents 1 time to unlock it all. Except gm capability (which you don't need) and even then it's only another $4.99.
3. Expect all monsters not to adhere to any rules. Each is it's own

Critical Mechanics differences
1. Perception = initiative
2. Monetary system is silver based instead of gold...so treasure is lots less.
3. Medicine is skill used for healing and battle field medicine anyone can take and makes healing spells less needed.
4.casters have less spells in their repertoire but cantrips scale and become bread and butter
5. Three types of feats. Ancestry(racial abilities)/Skill(Think power stunts)/class (makes each character different)
6. Multiclassing is virtually out the windows. However you can choose archetype or dedications that replace that mechanic and adds a little bit of other classes with you. Starting at 2nd level you can choose this instead of class feat

Because I'm using free archetype option

You get a free alternate class feat every other level. Which makes every character 100% unique.

Additionally Ancestry Paragon means double the racial feats.

I've been luring on the recruitment thread for the round Robin dm of this same game

Pf2e conversion of RotRL book 1 (Burnt Offerings) to Seven Dooms of Sandpoint and can appreciate the draw and the desire.

So let's see if I can put my spin on it.

I'm not into collaborative dming, otherwise I'd just volunteer to rum part and play on it.

So let's get into specifics.

Looking fir 5 or 6 players who want to play , at first, budding heroes of Sandpoint to help defend against villains bent on destroying Sandpoint..
And later ...17 years later...get the call again.

It'll be PF2

1. Ancestries
Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Halfling, Human only

2. Background
Whatever Background you choose will put you into what you've been doing and where you live in Sandpoint. You'll be citizens of the town.

3. Classes
Any

4. Options
Free Archetype at 2nd
Free Ancestry Paragon.

5. Because pf2 has more rabbit holes than can be imagined, I allow tweaking of the character through level 3. After that you have to stay the course.

Is there enough interest for this?

I don't want completed characters...although Pathbuilder does make it easy.

But just Ancestry, Background and class will suffice.

I'll keep the recruitment open til at least July 1st.

Shall we save Sandpoint?

Yes I agree. I ALWAYS look at the map. When it was written the guard moved but his position on the map stayed the same, I assumed wrongly, obviously, that it was concerning the other guard. I also countb squares. And saw Dargon was 30 away from the guard token. And not having a +1 BAB knew I had to take an action to draw the Dagger . I try to be very precise in my writings.

A suggestion to avoid situations like this.

The guard looked at the two prisoners coming for him, and at where the horn lie and moved back through the door he entered from, shutting it.

.

But I agree with Kid. The map is critical for pbp. After all th9s is a tactical simulation.

Sorry for the holding things up

Hidden away in the jungles of the Mwangi Expanse, an ancient ruin of the ancient Azlanti people has remained unknown....until now. An Explorer dying from a strange disease has surfaced in Bloodcove. His fevered ramblings of treasure, Beast-Men serving a Minotaur King, Lizard-Folk in direct rebellion to the King, a Death Cult trying to find secrets long buried, rumors of an ancient evil waiting release and more perk the attention of those who are intrepid enough to face these dangers to find the secrets of the Caverns of Azlantia.

Are you brave enough?

Welcome to the recruitment thread for the reskinned Caverns of Thracia for PF1 taken from Necromancer Games republished AD&D module.

Once the guard leaves, and after a good 3-4 minutes, giving them time to get back to where they once were Dargon goes at the locks on his manacles with renewed purpose.

wall of die rolls:
Dargons Manacles: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11, dargons manacles if guard doesnt return: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21, dargons manacles: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

After several minutes Dargons hands come free and he stoops going to work on his leg irons.

more dice rolls:
dargons leg irons: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21, dargons leg irons: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28.

Dargon rubs his legs and quickly moves down to Morthos who he thinks is the best choice for a combatant in case the guards return. he whispers Morthos first I think. Then you kid.

die rolls for Morthos:
manacles: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27

He had the hang of this now he thinks. and leans down for his leg irons
((I forgot and I can add another +2 for familiarity now ;)))

Morthos Leg Irons:
leg irons: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19,if guards dont come: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24,Morthos: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30

Morthos freed, he whispers Sir maybe pull one of those daggers off the handkerchief...err I mean veil and moves down to The Kid passing by the ladies He mentions to Rendylyn Youre after the Kid. I think his fists could come in handy in case

Kid Viscious:
manacles: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18,if guards dont come: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22, still working: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31, Kids Leg Irons: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22, continuing: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27

It took several minutes on the Kids locks, but soon he was freed. He moved to Rendylyn and went to work on her Manacles

Rendylyn:
her manacles: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13,if guards dont come: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (8) + 12 = 20, still: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27, her leg irons: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
He was sweating and his fingers ached from all these locks....he paused for a second and looked at Treesa and Posh and decided on The lady. muttering Ladys first Posh

Treesa:
manacles: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27, leg irons: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15, if guards dont come: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13, still working: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30

Finally her leg irons sprung open and he bowed low and moved to the gnome

Posh:
manacles: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13if guards dont come: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18, still working: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21,poshes are hard.: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21,working Dargons Fingers to the bone: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27, whew to leg irons: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22, not long now: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (1) + 12 = 13, how many 1's can a guy roll: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19, Posh Ill never get you free: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24, told ya: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22, who votes we leave the gnome: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32

Done he leans against the wall and lets out a sigh...Next

((DM-if anywhere in there he guards come, after theyve left or are dead, or we're dead, can we just go back to the lock rolls after that point. Im loathe to have to roll those all again.))

OK this was very very tough. I had to ask friends opinions because I couldnt narrow it down past about half the list. But I have to choose...so

Kendra paid the last courier and watched as he rode off. She had found 20 names in her father's journals. People who he felt were kindred, had felt strongly enough about that hed written their names down. She didnt know who would answer her call when she invited them to the funeral. Some she knew, probably wouldnt get the letter. Some would get it too late but maybe would arrive later. Some wouldnt come. She hoped some would though. Her father lay in a coffin in the Temple of Pharasma, his body kept from decomposing by magic. The funeral was on the 28th of Kuth., about two weeks from now. Yes, Kuth was winter, but Ravengro had mild winters and her father's burial couldnt wait any longer. She tried not to worry, she would have to wait and see who answered.

6 People had received an invitation in time to get to Ravengro in time.

Jack Ryder (Human Ranger <Trapper>)
Helmund Rieger (Human Barbarian <Superstitious>)
Barek Noson (Human Magus <Bladebound>)
Quincy Harker (Dhampir Adept)
Cassandra Blackpoole (Changling Oracle <of Life>)
Lady Briar Rose Applegate (Human Warrior)

[please go to the Discussion Thread]

To the rest of you. Im sorry I couldnt fit more of you in.

With your permission, I may reach out to you if the worst occurs and someone drops. After all, the lead in of you arriving late is already there.

Thank you all for applying.

Welcome to the Recruitment Thread for Carrion Crown.

You hold in your hands a letter informing you of Professor Petros Lorrimor, esteemed Instructor and Researcher of The University of Lepidstadt. A man Loved, feared, or hated depending on who you were. No details of his demise followed. Just an invitation to his funeral in Ravengro, the home of the Professor, which will be held on the 28th of Kuth (AR). Signed by his Daughter Kendra Lorrimor

Whether he was a father figure, a mentor, a friend, a colleague, an ally or even merely someone who touched your life. The fact he was respected means everything. That you will attend is not in doubt. You know you have to leave quickly because that is a too soon to do anything but make haste.

and so starts The campaign.

about the DM:
My psuedonym is Dread, after my favorite villain in a long standing home brew campaign set in the Forgotten Realms. Kelthas Dread, a Red Wizard of Thay. My GM name is GMMichael. Ive been playing D&D/Pathfinder since 1975 (yes that makes me old) Ive been running PBP games since 1995. I have been away from it for a bit of time recently...but am ready to take on the mantle again!.

about my games:
I prefer a game that is very player oriented and emphasizes role playing over roll playing, though combat is very much a THING, and a necessary thing. I will not allow player vs player under no condition and never hope to see the phrase 'but thats what my character would do' . In my opinion that breaks the social contract inherent in role playing games, which is collaborative fun. Sexual situations and things that are extremely edgy or triggering are fade to black. Noone should ever feel uncomfortable in my games. That being said. Carrion Crown is a 'horror based campaign' touching on all the tropes of that genre, so the game will be decidedly NC17 . If you have questions...ask

questions about game specifics/timeframes/who gets chosen etc:
I will be choosing from those that want to join, 4-6 players to go on this journey with me. I will probably make the choices before April 4th at the furthest. Ive found normally within a week you get the majority of players responding, so once I feel enough of a choice is available, I will give a 24 hour notice and then choose. My choice will be made using three criteria. 1. Character Choice (does the character fit within the campaign. Has the player gone outside what I put forth in the character building guidelines. Is it a character Id like to DM for.) 2. The Player (Is it someone who reads what I type. Is it someone who will play well with the rest of the kids in the sandbox. Is the player responsive and attentive.) 3. Synergy of the Group. (There is a dynamic in games that is oft overlooked How well do the players and characters work together. Thats hard to tell in a recruitment thread, but I will be looking for signs that they will).

Now onto character building information.

Note: I do not require a full character build but a few paragraphs about the character will suffice. That being said, I know how hard it is once your creative juices get flowing to stop at name rank and serial number....Most of us love creating characters. so without further adieu.

1. No 3pp material.

2. No Evil. Period.

3. Races: Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, Halfling, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Human, Aasimar, Tiefling, Android, Goblin, Hobgoblin, Orc, Changeling, Dhampir.

4. Classes: Any except- Omdura, Vigilante, Vampire Hunter, Shifter.

*Yes to Unchained versions.*
*No To Prestige Classes.*

5. 20 point builds for all classes except
You may choose to start as an NPC class (Adept/Aristocrat/Expert/Warrior) and gain a 20 point build Plus a d6 (meaning 21-26) or a Commoner and gain a 20 point build plus 2d4 (meaning 22-28).

*Under no case will I allow a reroll for points*

--What happens if I am thinking of being an NPC class and I roll low gaining only 21 points and decide its not worth it. and just stay with a regular class...Thats ok to do, just dont flip flop and go back and forth rolling til you get a good one.---

*If you choose to start as an NPC class you must progress into a regular class that would be a natural progression logically. Example: Adept to Cleric or Wizard. Commoner to Ranger or Rogue. ie make it make sense.

6. Hit points Max at first level. Every level after 1/2+1 except the NPC Classes. Should you want to stay as an NPC class you can keep max hit points . Realizing the Commoner doesnt benefit from that, The Commoner is the only class that will be allowed Hero Points. per the Hero Point rule. (and thats kinda thematic). Yes if he changes classes he can still use Hero Points.

7. No to Background skills. However I will give each character a profession skill free at game start. Only a Profession Skill.

*NPC Skills become class skills with class change.*
*Spell casting level stacks from Adept to ny other spell casting class*
Adept spell availability merges spell lists (only of spells capable of casting...in other words, if youre a Druid who wants Invisibility in your repertoire you need to stay Adept til youre at least 4th level)*

Benefits of going regular class over NPC class...class specific benefits will be of higher level.
Benefits of NPC class over regular class. slightly higher stats. and maybe slightly higher hit points.

Choices.

8. No to Elephant in the room feat changes.

9. Average starting Gold for classes (NPC classes- Adept uses Druid, Aristocrat uses Cavalier, Commoner uses Monk, Expert uses Alchemist, Warrior uses Fighter)

10. No Crafting prior to game start for equipping.

I think that does it. Ask in case I left things out.

lets get on with it shall we?

Well it continued. Just when I felt I might be able to return...the ugly word Divorce struck. My now ex-wife decided to move onto greener pastures and I went through the trial of getting my life back in order.

Moved to Texas and am out the other side with things looking up. So I'll be peeking in and may even try to join a game and God forbid run something.

What does Woolf think...

Grobradon- smells similar to Keth. Not as nice but Keith likes him so he's ok.

Maldie- she's a cub and needs protecting. He likes her but she smells funny

Her familiar- looks like food but smells funny and maldie cub likes it.

Casina- afraid of. He smells...serious. dangerous.

Bimbur- he smells of dirt. But acts like hes pack leader. Uncertain of him.

Culver- he likes him. He's short and friendly and fun to be around...smells fun.

Betzolte- another who smells of dirt but something else. Funny like Maldie.

while I had several games going on the boards....then I had the year of hell. This is no joke of exaggeration.

I got Covid in Dec of 21 took offline for about a month. Ended up in the hospital. then gradually recovered. ...My mother passed away in March. My Father passed away in June and lost my job because (not in that order). I had a car accident in August, totalling my car and going down to a one car family...also landing me in the hospital....again.

finally I got sick again in December of 22. and out of work for 3 weeks.

It seems that everytime Id start to recover from the body blows of the year...another would hit.

So I apologize for my inability to keep things posted or let others know what was going on. Lets just say my mind wasnt on the game.

So Apologies, Not sure if I will be dming or playing anytime soon, more just checking in

Ratel moved in the room and turned to look at the bench. As he stepped on a flagstone, he heard an audible click and a cage descended quickly from the ceiling with two leather harnesses holding two skeletons inside of it. Ratel quickly tried to get out of the area, and the cages slammed into his shoulder as he jumped to avoid being stuck inside.

As the cage struck the floor, the two skeletons wriggled out of their harnesses and reached through the bars for Ratel. He pulled back away from both, avoiding their reaching arms.

Arthdane puts a hand to the stone surface of the door in the alcove and concentrates for time, and he can see past the door into the room. The room isdimly lit by the glowing green crystal central spire which intrudes into the room in the north west corner, besides that the room is 30' by 30'.

A stout wooden table stands along the wall opposite it. On the table are three rotting human corpses and the remnants of a black hairy spider the size of a dog.

One corpse has had all of its limbs sawed off and its body is cut open exposing internal organs. A second corpse has had all of its limbs removed and sewn in their place are spider legs from the spider corpse on the table. The human arms and legs are neatly stacked next to the spider corpse.

A bucket of blood sits on the floor under the table and needles with lengs of silk thread attached are stuck in a hand sized block of wax atop the table.

Ok youre right, everyone is cleared out except the family stuck in the swinging boat

Zania seeing the citizenry out of the festival grounds, but the family still stuck in the boat ride, backs away from the Biker standing in front of her and past Sariel heading towards the fair ride.

I moved her instead if thats ok?

The Gang Members continued their random acts of destruction.

str check DC15: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15 The Porta-Potty tipped over and waste began to seep out of the bottom of it. The Biker raised his fist in the air with a large Hurrah!

The slide began to deflate as holes were sliced in the air filled plastic.

The Gang Member on the bandstand turned at Chloes words and said Look Lady, Unless ya want trouble, git to runnin with the rest of the folks here. as he raised a crowbar threateningly.

Moving to another picnic table, a Biker grabbed the edge and tried to flip it too. He easily tipped it on its end and over, drinks and plates flying.

Continuing to wreck the duck club booth, The Ghost Mountain Rider opened the cooler and began throwing beer cans out into the festival grounds, pausing to crack one open and taking a big swig smacking his lips together with pleasure. I love this job

The Main tent was being ravaged by the two there.

Over at Bodega Bay Escapes, the displays were nearly all destroyed.

The Biker randomly hitting controls pushed the stop button as the ride was up in the air, and it boat stopped moving and groaning could be heard from the struts and wires as they strained to stop momentum He was laughing hysterically pointing at the obvious fear on the families face.

Hahahahahaha

A Thuggish looking brute was just wreaking havoc on Terrapin Creeks Booth

Booths for Gourmet Au Bay and Drakes were being wrecked by two bikers.

totally caught up in the experience of flying as a zebra Gregor was curiously distinterested in the land that flowed beneath him and his flying friends. He tried to make sense of whos who...Davor The Dog? that made him mentally smile...He neighed and blew wind out his nose in an amusing snort and it sounded like it came out Davor You Dog!

Then saw Shallissa the tortoise looking around calmly. He wondered if that form was chosen by her mask wearing...

The last Kerndrew the Bull...well that kinda fit. but why Zebra...he had no shortage ofwonderment about why he was a Zebra.

then looking at the Giant Crab form of the druid and laughed in a horselike laugh...well that sure is appropriate...He is rather crabby
