ditto.

Liberty's Edge

Personally when I post a recruitment I look for a number of things. 1. Is the character one I would enjoy running in the AP or adventure. 2. How would the chatacters mesh as a party. 3. Did the player read my post and build a chatacter within the guidelines...little things like if i said 2 traits, did he put three in. If I limited a race or class did he go there anyway. Not reading is indicative of a different issue.

4. Is the player helpful or challenging?

5. Is the player creating something very very unusual...a lot of times that's indicative of someone who might get bored if the character isn't performing as expected.

And a few other things. But i.dont just choose 'friends'

Liberty's Edge

I agree with everything being told to you.

And would add this, as someone whose ran a lot of pbp games.

1. If you want the players to post 1xd expect yourself to post 3 to 4 times a day.

2. Consider giving them more information than you would in a table top game. Lack of Information slows things down when you know they are going to find out....note this isn't plot or intrigue, it's things like minor magic items, or what the poison does when they fail.

3. It's your job to move the game along, sodo things like tell them how to advance it...like 'when three of you say you're going to bed, I'll advance game. Or I'll give til tomorrow around 5pm central standard time, then I'm advancing the round.

Liberty's Edge

I'll get to working on my character

Liberty's Edge

My experience says limit the Game to 6. Most adventures have some sort of dungeon (so to speak)and there's no room for more, in fact 6 pushes things anyway.

Liberty's Edge

It's easy to post 1xday fit me, for the most part. The occasional weekend away is the main way I'd not.

As for the discussion of dis ord vs forums.

I do not find it difficult for either, though I do prefer the forum, and roll 20 is an easy map tool. Low cost for a dm. 4.99 a month. And quick ability to do maps and run combat.

Liberty's Edge

Are you saying pbp? Or live on discord? I'd be in pbp, but not live

Liberty's Edge

do we add the racial adjustments to these rolls or are they the final stat.

Liberty's Edge

Im interested.

Thinking to run a Human Rogue to start, but later he'd be multiclassing into a Ranger. So he'd be a Ranger Rogue in the higher levels.

So strong

Dex and Int

Normal

Str and Con

Sub

Wis and cha

Dex: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 2) = 16
int: 10 + 2d4 ⇒ 10 + (4, 4) = 18

Str: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (5) = 15
Con: 10 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + (4) = 14

Wis: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (4) = 10
cha: 14 - 1d6 ⇒ 14 - (5) = 9

Liberty's Edge

Was considering making the character 'like Casca', if you've read the series.

An eternal warrior.

Not a heroic type. More like he's cursed to always be alive in every century. Reincarnated for a particular period of war and danger.

Liberty's Edge

I'm thinking an old grizzeled veteran in 50s. Now a Hobo, but had been in the phillipines war, the Spanish American war, and ww1. I'll make him a 'gunslinger' or a Ranger.

Liberty's Edge

Since I realize there's a lot of folks who never heard of this adventure.

Let me write the official entry thread.

Hidden away in the jungles of the Mwangi Expanse, an ancient ruin of the ancient Azlanti people has remained unknown....until now. An Explorer dying from a strange disease has surfaced in Bloodcove. His fevered ramblings of treasure, Beast-Men serving a Minotaur King, Lizard-Folk in direct rebellion to the King, a Death Cult trying to find secrets long buried, rumors of an ancient evil waiting release and more perk the attention of those who are intrepid enough to face these dangers to find the secrets of the Caverns of Azlantia.

Are you brave enough?

Liberty's Edge

Is there any interest for the Mega-Dungeon that was created by judges Guild for AD&D and redone by Necromancer Ganes to 3.5. It's an easy reskin for PF1.

Review of Caverns of Thracia

For those who've never heard of it.

I'd change the name to the Caverns of Azlantia, for the setting.

It starts at 3rd level and goes to about 7th or 8th.

Interested?

Javell, were close. Im in Austin (Im Dargon by the way)

and since we are sharing where we started... The original boxed set in 1975...the year my addiction started at the ripe old age of 15

Liberty's Edge

I'm throwing my hat in the ring. I have to do my mental histrionics of what character type now....

Liberty's Edge

Maybe I'll come up with an idea for a Pixie

Liberty's Edge

ok I think that is enough to open the thread. All your questions can and will be answered in the Recruitment Thread 'Dreads Carrion Crown'

Liberty's Edge

It's been a while since I ran a game on the boards. I'm considering it at the moment. Getting that itch again.

The major draw is running a carrion crown game. But, I see 2 other games have started in the last 4 months. Are there enough people who want to play this campaign.

If I get enough Interest I'll start a recruitment thread.

At this point I'm testing the water.

Let me know.

Liberty's Edge

ability score 2: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
ability score 3: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
ability score 4: 1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

I'll get the character posted tonight

Liberty's Edge

I've wanted to play this since it came out.

I created a character for it but it died so soon it wasn't funny.

My idea is a Rogue. Human.

Liberty's Edge

Looking to join a pbp game to get back involved after a lengthy hiatus. Can be pf1 or pf2. Many character ideas depending on game.

Liberty's Edge

Still putting the character together. But for a basis to start off from

Keth Longstrider
Half-Orc Druid
Animal Companion-Wolf named 'Woof'

Also, don't feel you have to be a dwarf. All ancestries are allowed and suitable.

My goal when I make the final choices, which will be hard, since all the characters are very interesting ones, will be to try and ensure you have a variety of bases covered.

It's also why I did a two week recruitment, to give people time to adjust and tweak things.

I'm in the same boat as Apoc Golem. Kilain is a character I played in a tabletop game that lasted til he was 9th level as a fighter/cleric in AD&D.

Trying to relive the joy I had playing him and Thought I have looked at him as a Cleric

.I think in this case ...Champion best suits him.

Liberty's Edge

Interested. I've been lurking and thinking I'd like to toss my hat in the ring. I'll start working on character concept

Liberty's Edge

Thank you Zothan and Dorian. I realized that and did just that.
Though it didn't dnt allow me to emulate it perfectly , it mostly did the job

Liberty's Edge

GM-Lia wrote:
Kilain looks good. I do have a question. I don't see that you listed what his diety is, and given the Earth domain, it would likely be Torag, but there are a number of deities with that domain, so could you please clarify who he worships?

Torag. Yes. Sorry.

specific background for Kilain:
Kilain Gravendak of Clan Quarrymaster of Highhelm, one of the lesser known clans;
Kilain, 3rd born in The Family Gravendak, of Clan Quarrymaster of the Hammer Halls of Highhelm, in Five Kings Mountains. As is normal, The First born carries the Family Name as heir, 2nd goes in the military and 3rd goes to the church. Kilain went to the church. He has been training in his prayers to The Soul Forger and follows the tenants of the Dwarven Faith as close as possible. He is eager to serve the church and awaits their first assignment.

It is known in Dtawrven history that a member of Kilains ancestors fell asleep on watch after a drunken festival at one of the tombs that was being guarded and it was raided and a dwarven relic of importance was stolen. The family was disgraced and Clan Quarrymaster fell in importance.

Kilain has a personal quest to help restore honor to the family name and is attending the invitation to Clan Tolor by way with a recommendation from the church to learn about the member of the clan who caused the dishonor and what was stolen. Perhaps he can find it and return it.

Liberty's Edge

The only downside to pathbuilder I've found, in this case, is the backgrounds for the sky kings tomb AP haven't been entered yet, so I had to find a background that gave the same stat adjustments and similar skills and then remember to type in the differences on the character here

Liberty's Edge

Working on character now. He will be Dwarven Champion (Paladin) named Kilain gravendak

Liberty's Edge

Very very interested. I'll look over the players guide and submit a character soon.

Liberty's Edge

Now to some background things. I'm 64 years old. Retired. After spending a good deal of time in the army doing army things and even more time later in sales until recently. I live in Phoenix, Arizona.

My role playing background is d&d since 1975 until the edition wars where I moved to Pathfinder. I used to DM a lot until my health took a turn for the worse and I had the year from hell. Now barely dipping my fingers or toes back in (depending on how you look at it)with the idea I only play in a few games so as not to stress myself out too much and get over extended.

If possible I'd stay with the default human instead of halfling and I'd go Fighter as that's more what I think is needed and pf2 is good to fighters.

Aye. Maybe I can out sneak the rogue ;) this Paladin will be quite different than most of my Paladins ever have been. Don't expect him to tank. He's not that way.

Liberty's Edge

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Read this a few times. Its enough to make me come out of pseudo pbp retirement to play.

Elven Paladin

Ill be going with Timerus A'Conal Half-Elf Sorceror. Havent come up with Bloodline yet.

roll 1: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3, 6) + 6 = 18 Cha dump the +2 into Cha= 20

roll 2: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1) + 6 = 12 Wis

roll 3: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1) + 6 = 16 Dex

roll 4: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2, 4) + 6 = 13 Con

roll 5: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2, 1) + 6 = 10 Str

roll 6: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6) + 6 = 18 Int

Liberty's Edge

no worries then

Liberty's Edge

I'd be going Dwarven Cleric

absolutely.

Liberty's Edge

so Number 2 is the selection.

so now onto the issue that has formed over the +1 Ring of Protection.

so when it was looted, Alexander was at 0 staggered and sitting on barrel, right before he drank a cure light wounds potion.

The priestess had fallen and the group was going over bodies for clues of who the assailants were.

They discovered a ring that was magical.

Iding at a ring of protection they waitied to hand it out til the following morning.

Alexander reached out to the table and claimed it. Kronk said 'Hold on there Id like that too.'

and thats where we are.

Trust me there will be plenty of loot.

so lets examine armor classes.

Alexander is AC 17
Kronk is AC 15
Cathoris is AC 13
Falkwyn is AC 16
Thal is AC 19
Straugn is AC 17

by that Cathoris should get it...and him not wanting it...Kronk next.

Does anybody think that doing it that way is against the agreed upon method 2 we voted on?

Doro considers the tactical approach Our horses can carry across the space in the time it allows them to fire two volleys. On foot we will subjected to 3. My suggestion , unless someone can make all of us unable to be seen, is to ride our horses straight to the side of the building's ground floor and through the arches into it. Anyone disagree?
