Imara is almost carrying too much weight as it is, so the remaining 8 fireworks (after the two firewheels have been used) are probably paper candles since their weight is negligible.

I would like to apologize to you all for my absence. I don't like talking about it, as usually I can deal with it, however I have, slightly random swings of burnout and apathy over the course of the year where I lose all interest in almost everything. Where even things I normally greatly enjoy feel like a chore to do at best. Normally, I can push through, continue on and eventually the "burnout" as I've called it leaves. However I've hit a particularly rough patch this time around. That coupled with doubling my work time due to the holidays has left me with the desire to do nothing. However, that doesn't excuse my radio silence in this, and my other games. So again, I would like to apologize for that.

I think I'm on the upswing, and, if you would still have me I will happily rejoin the game properly in hopefully a few days time.

After I posted my attack I started thinking about Rory being behind the others. I was hoping Orvil's attack wouldn't kill the orc on the ground, so we could still attack him instead of up the stairs.

I'm trying to figure out what Rory needs to do now.

I will try and remember to put down some type of alternative action in case I'm posting before the others who have initiative.


So two orc and the drummer are on the roof. There is a trap door at the top of the stairs that allow us access to the roof. There is one orc on the stairs between us and the trap door. If were inside, I don't think we can see the orcs on the roof. Rydell, you said you moved further into the tower. I don't think you can shoot at the two orcs on the roof. Were you shooting at the orc that attacked Storm?

Shel you just tossed the fireworks into the building the rest of us are standing in. I don't think the fireworks would hit the orc up on the steps. Probably just tossing it away might be good.

GMMichael, did Rydell's 14 hit the orc on the stairs or does he have cover from a lower attack?


Rydell did indeed hit the orc on the stairs. He gets no cover as they are only rails.

let me try and clear things up.

first try and picture the tower.

30' high. Atop it are two orcs looking over the edge and in the center a Skald leader pounding on his drums.

inside its a tube with no floors but a winding staircase running up along the wall. Theres one door in at ground level and 1 trap door at the top of the stairs.

Ive placed in blue- height indicators atop the bad guys. to help with this 3d fight.

does this help the theater of the mind?

I just couldn't access Roll20 where I was, internet was too slow.

If the party is already inside the tower, Shel will try to throw the firework at the orcs on the top of the tower instead of inside. That was probably Phoenix's plan, anyways.


So Imara ran up the stairs and opened the Trap door and continued to the roof? I assumed the trapdoor was in the ceiling.

yes. the trapdoor was already already open. I thought about making her wait, but then decided for the more dramatic picture of her running up the stairs and Rydell dropping the orc as she ran...more cinematic in the minds eye.

Yeah, it was not my intention to have her go through the trap door on her own - but I like it. She is brazen and it does make it dramatic... particularly given that he now seems to be blinded. And probably not expecting her to attack, regardless. I am exhausted tonight, should be able to post tomorrow.

Because of the variants on three different attacks, I'm waiting to go in order, so I have a clear understanding of what we are to do. That way it won't force GMMichael to make an educated guess on Rory, Thistle and Storms actions.

Heres how we do it. Update your character sheet completely for 3rd level. Your new spell slots are not prepared yet unless youre a spontaneous caster. That will be the only thing not gained at the moment. It will take 1 hour of time (which you dont have...yet) to do so.

and Rydell, no you cant really get a good shot at the looters from atop the tower.

Since I discovered that PrC that looks pretty interesting, I'll be building Shel towards that, and it's a summoning PrC. One of the half-orc FCB's is to pick a cleric spell to add to the shaman spell list and I took that to add Summon Monster I to Shel's spell list. Summon Monster is generally better than Summon Nature's ally, though I think they summon the same things at level one. Anyways, Shel can use all of those scrolls except for the Grease scrolls so she'll take whatever ones you don't want.

We can take a scroll of Cause Fear each in case we need to really force a foe out of the fight. You should take the Charm scroll as your charisma is infinitely better than mine. And if you want, take the Summon Monster scrolls.

Ovril: Cause Fear, Grease x2, the Thunderstone.

I leveled Storm to 2nd, at 5th level Rory will take boon companion and get thistle up to snuff. I'm still no super comfortable with 'animal companions' but I think I got him leveled ok.

It's not really splitting up, it's flanking. Look at the map, we're headed to the north west section of this part of town where the #8 is. If we charge in-between those two buildings we get bottlenecked by the 6 orcs in there. We don't really have a frontliner, If we do that who is going to take point in that bottleneck?

However If Rory and the wolves swing through the eastern buildings they can approach from the north east drawing some of the orcs away while still having room to move a little. It may also be possible for someone to open the door into the northwestern building by the fence and approach from the other flank. Doing that we would have three different angles to attack from instead of one.

I just don't want stuck in that bottle neck where only one person can attack at a time or where there is no room to move.

Imara could check the area out to make sure they aren't surprised by enemies they can't currently see. She is sneaky AND looks like an orc, so she'd likely be okay. Then we can make sure Rory doesn't get surprised by something we didn't know was there.

GMMichael, from Rydel's spot on the map, was he able to move and shoot one of the orcs near Rory and Imara, or did he shoot one of the orcs by Ovril, just asking, looking at the map and trying to decide where to attack and who.
