![]() Damn I took an ugly, ugly beating! One thing, GM: are these creatures considered giants? Because if they are, then Donnen's AC against them would actually be 26 (via Dwarf defensive training - it's in my header)... Just double checking. Anyway, about HP: we never updated after the sleep, and I couldn't find any damage taken after that. So, his HP should be 4 higher, at least (1 HP/level) - though to be honest, since we're doing in speed mode, one could imagine we'd be doing crossed heal checks to get everybody more up to speed. I couldn't find any reference to that, so I'll assume Dommer is at 4 HP at this point - which is likely much worse than 0! If the guy saw me attack and drop disabled or something of the sorts, I imagine he'd likely go to try to disable the others before finishing me (versus, doing another monstrous attack at the poor Dwarf and likely kill me outright). But fair is fair. The game had been great and Dommer is very fun to play, but danger and death are part of the game. Dommer does a step back and flurries with his longbow against the giant. He uses all his resources. Attack 1: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 + 1 = 11
... And yet, none of his attacks connect. He seems to be truly shaken from the monstrous attack! Point blank master - so attacks don't provoke. Precise Shot, Point Blank Shot, etc.; ki point for extra attack, perfect strike as always applied to the first attack of the flurry. ![]()

As the others hunt and forage for food, the woodcutter will assemble a small camp for them (maybe I can build a rudimentary shelter of sorts?) and, if time allows, help with the food part. He will offer to take the darkest parts of the night (middle shift) as his eyes are simply more trained for it, and he doesn't have spells to recover to need continuous sleeping. With three shifts of 4 hours each, we could have 2 people in each shift. Someone else with Darkvision that doesn't need continuous sleep could do the middle shift with me. ![]()

As for position: since Luke can't see in the dark, I'd position him and the NPC by the entrance, but maybe 10-15 feet inside and with light sources (like a wall torch for example). Dommer will stay close to the entrance but right outside, climbed up a tree - the tree itself no more than 10 or 15 feet from the entrance. He will hide the best he can and just be observing the surroundings and entry tunnel. Are all our warrior NPCs humans, or do we have like dwarves or half-orcs or someone with darkvision as well? I'd still position him next Luke but further from the light source. ![]()

I say we go back and fortify. Sending a full group doesn't sound wise at the moment... Sounds more like a trap or an attempt to get all of us out of the caves, as much as I'd like to capture one of them to be interviewed. Maybe after we get back and reconvene, we can send a scout or two to follow the trail not to capture that enemy, but to track where their army is positioned. ![]()

Finally, he sits down, shaking his hands for his companions to take cover. Move to move and draw weapon, standard to shoot, free to drop prone. I was considering the Dommer already had his weapon in hands (that's what I meant when I said he tapped bow and arrows to make sure they were ready), but I can make it work as he having to draw his weapon as well (otherwise I'd have flurried already). I have some bonus against orcs (+1 to attack) and goblinoids (+1 to attack, +2 dodge to AC) in case it matters. ![]()

I saw the things about the mushrooms - and obviously I think we need to assign people to be foraging or hunting in a regular basis. ![]() I'm reading through the details the GM posted. Thanks, PDK! Anyway, in terms of plans: despite the long time it might take, I like the idea of sealing the passage to the Darklands. We could start with something crude (just a pile of rocks) while the masons do the actual proper work. I wonder if we could even provoke a collapse there in some sort of safe way? Another possibility is to trap the passage. Trap the hell out of it. I don't know exactly how, but one of us should be able to do it. In parallel, though, since it will take a lot of time, I think we could station a guard or two on the passage. I agree with Arthur to level one of the L3s. Personally, Dommer will restock his arrows, and hopefully equip our NPCs with bows and arrows he can craft (and teach the NPCs how to). ![]()
