You can edit the Abbey prison map now. Why does Goggle Docs keep changing my permissions?

Not a crit. AC25.

Bharak cuts deeply into the monster twice.

Axton, Ryn & Lt. Vhane to act!

Feels strange fighting something that doesn't die almost immediately doesn't it?

Even his +2 vs Fear didn't help. :(

The Eel freezes, his eyes widening with fear as he hangs on the side of the ship over all that dreadful water!

It's even worse for him. He's an Alchemist who now can't drink potions or interact with liquids!

All three in the water can see a small, liquid figure clinging to the side of the ship.

Ok, the Eel is screwed and spends the round frozen. Everyone can act. Rhialla you can see him, but he does have cover from you.

Map updated very crudely. Percy, Esmeralda & Cassiopeia are in the water. Rhialla is below deck. I added water to let me place you on the map.

So you're heading home for some shopping. Lets get moving on that.

Who is telling Colwyn what's been happening so he can get started on adding the new lands to the kingdom. And let you know anything interesting that you should look out for. :)

DBH here. I'm a longtime role player. I started in the late 80's with D&D 2E and have tried out a lot of systems over the years.

I run a number of games here and some of you are currently playing in them. :)

As I said in the recruitment thread I prefer to let the story develop my character mostly. Though I have had ideas for a character spring fully grown from my mind in the past. But generally I like to let them grow organically.

I did have one character in a Tabletop game where I'd made her and had the basic character but when I looked for some art to use as her look I found a picture and blam! Backstory and personality just hit me.

I wanted to make Aria more healing based than most Druids, though looking at the party it seems that survival and Knowledge nature are well covered.

Maybe I should change Aria to a Herb witch while we're still in discussion? Not a powerhouse but good at healing and adding a little more arcane casting to the party.

Hi all, thanks for choosing me PD.

I'll read through the discussion and have a more detailed introduction for Ara up soon. :)

I'm down here in little New Zealand so my posting times will be odd for some of you.

Bharak promptly finishes off the Qlippoth.

Ryn holds the struggling Koriah for a few more seconds until she snaps out of the Confusion.

You are in C8.

C8. HALL OF RUIN
The plastered walls of this room bear an incredibly realistic mural of the interior of a ruined cathedral, portrayed such that one who stands in the center of the room perceives the chamber to be much vaster than its actual size. Archways to the north, south, and east appear to be freestanding stone arches that look almost like strange portals, while to the west a fourth archway provides access to a flight of stairs leading down.

Only one room to check and it's empty so here it is.

C9. APOTHECARIUM
This room's furnishings reveal it was once an apothecarium, although the smells of herbs and spices are long gone today. Alchemical equipment lies under layers of dust.

This room was used by the Groetan cult to brew potions and various hallucinatory drugs employed in rituals to enhance their abilities to catch glimpses of other realities.

Treasure:
Although the bulk of the items kept here have long since crumbled away to dust, a search of the room automatically gathers up various valuable components such as gemstone dust, bits of gold, and finely crafted tools worth a total of 1,200gp.

Ardathanatus overlooked these treasures in his haste to explore the lower levels, and also missed one of the greatest treasures to be found in the dungeon. Sitting idly forgotten on a shelf near the
northwest corner of the room is a philosopher's stone.

Philosopher's stone

That is the whole floor cleared. You can safely rest and recover.

You did need to make a roll Rhialla.

diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27 Huh!

Rhialla's wordds break through Sefina's dispair and she slumps, releasing those caught in her aura.

"It is a Halfling, he favors alchemical weapons and he's going for the Blood moon first!" She tells you.

The ships are moored at B on the map. You are at N. It is some distance to cover to reach the ships.

What are you doing now?

Aria Tanner wrote:

I 've thought about it a lot but really can't see any dramatic background story for Aria.

She's a girl who lives in the wilds, likes healing people and prefers the outskirts of civilization, visiting villages to sell herbal remedies and pick up supplies.

She would be up to help defend a village from its problems which is why she would take part if selected. :)

I personally generally prefer more down to earth backgrounds for lvl 1 PCs. Not always, but usually.

I tend to be the same way. I prefer to let the story build the character as it develops.

I've had a number of characters whom I saw a certain way become something completely different as events impacted them.

Good luck to everybody!

I played it as Ryn & Silviana arrived together. Ryn joined the party immediately while Silviana was horrified by the destruction of the holy sites up above and fell behind until she heard the fighting and rushed to catch up.

Meaning she joined you just after you killed the Qlippoth in C2.

Do make sure you are clear we need someone to cover the healing duties.

I still remember doing a recruitment to replace a parties rogue. One applicant applied with a Paladin? No Rogue levels or any of the needed skills.

He even got upset when I told him that a Paladin didn't fit.

Giving you a beaming smile Laori tells you. "I came here to talk to Scream about his art, but the 'Emperor's goons had dragged him away. Here I was thinking about how to get to him and who should walk in but you! The fine folks who've been going around stomping on problems."

She pumps her fist excitedly, "This 'Emperor' is bad news for the people here. I mean public executions as entertainment? I wanna talk to Scream. You probably wanna deal with the 'Emperor'? So lets team up!"

What are you doing now? She is really this cheerful. :)

It has a higher Dex penalty than the breastplate. As Adela has no dex bonus, or any skills that use dex she might as well use it.

Breastplate is yours.

Yellow doesn't get an AOO as he has a longbow out.

Vibenia chips away at Yellow.

Bludgeoning weapons work best folks.

Blue & Black shoot their bows at Marten.

Blue: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Blue: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Black: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

Hmmm...Save your essence Axton and your Arcane point..

After a few scratches from everyone the Qlippoth gets double teamed by the Dwarfs and is hammered! It dies.

Even with DR10/Lawful those two crits really savaged it.

It leaves behind a +1 Scimitar as its only loot.

We'll hand wave the Confusion effects as it was only 1d4 rounds worth.

I hope you don't mind but I edited the map to give the Wolves colored borders. It makes it easier to say which target we're going for.

Adela takes aim at Red.

crossbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
crossbow Critical?: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17

damage: 2d8 ⇒ (7, 8) = 15

Managing to put the bolt exactly where she was aiming, much to her surprise.

There was no warning regarding a man-eating cougar in these parts was there?

'If I'd known this was coming I'd have drunk a lot more!' Nico thinks to himself. "That'd be nice thanks "Ci Ci"." He answers calmly. He has no problems accepting the marriage. It'll make an interesting tale to tell one day.

Damn my irresistible charm!

Nico has vaguely heard of the old Shackles custom, marrying for a year and a day, followed by an amicable divorce as a means of sealing an agreement. "Sounds like a good idea to me." He agrees.

His look over Lady Smythee's shoulder at the other members of the Queen's grace crew show that Nico seems to be mostly agreeable to the deal. "Sure you don't want to check out Kaliban first? He's a big lad."

No surgery thankfully. A Cardioversion involves electrodes being stuck on your chest and then electric shocks being given until your heart starts behaving properly. :)

You are under anesthetic for this procedure so you don't feel that part of it. It only took one shot to get my heart beating properly, but I still woke up feeling like I'd been used as an Orc's punching bag. )

Are you sure you want to do that?

Update time on my condition.

Friday I had another Cardioversion as the one I had in 2023 didn't work properly, or my heart had relapsed?

This time I can really feel the difference, my heartbeat is steady and I have much more energy. So Monday back to regular updates.

One thing about the Cardioversion, it shocks your heartbeat back to the proper rhythm, it also leaves you feeling like you've been beaten up by Orcs. So I'm having a nice quiet weekend of lounging round and not moving much. :)

The RP is fine, we keep getting new characters joining the party and the different personalities shaking up the dynamic are great.

Finding your characters voice and letting it come naturally makes role playing so much easier.

I know Adela hasn't spoken much with Dare and Yuki yet, that is more because I'm playing her as someone who is unexposed to a lot of the wider world. She feels like a fish out of water at times and tends to observe things until she feels she understands what's going on.

She is adjusting to the adventuring life, it was a bit of shock to a city girl at first.

Adela wasn't very happy with Bokken either, but she's still much more formal in expressing her disapproval. :)

Adela gives Bokken a rather reproving look. "Perhaps mentioning the spiders before asking for the berries would prevent unnecessary problems in the future." She remarks sternly.

How much trouble would it have been to warn us about the spiders since he clearly knew about them?
