The silence is deafening.

I'm sorry I dropped the ball, guys. Drubbus, Sara, and Ghir need to take their turns posting — I thought I'd wait until they posted before writing a new post to start the next round of combat, then got busy with other things and didn't check back soon enough. Thankfully, Lotslegs lies dead and her babies are almost dead too. If those three don't post by tomorrow (again, I should have been clearer about who needed to post), we can move on. I won't let the game fall apart so quickly.

Update: I've sent private messages to Drubbus and Sara; for some reason, I can't send one to Ghir. See you tomorrow, guys.

Yes, but the acrid slime from the bull slug may have additional effects. It's up to you whether you want to take the risk.

DC 10 Knowledge (nature):
The slime of a bull slug is slightly poisonous.

GM I'm not really sure what your after from us, are we hallenging the other PC's? Or ourselves? And what are the dares? Sorry if I'm being slow.

Sorry for being unclear. Since there are 6 of you and 4 dares, I thought it might be interesting if there was some competition between the PCs. This is why I didn't want to resolve them all yesterday. The dares that you could contest are Eat A Bunch of Bull Slugs Real Quick, Escape the Rusty Earbiter, and Dance with Squealy Nord.

I'll explain the specifics for each dare during gameplay.

Ghir Omnomnom wrote:
Are the Bull Slugs an Earthbound reference?! :D

I'd be surprised if it were!

If Geek Mogurt shows up as an enemy, you know who's to blame! (Me, obviously.)

Sorry for the late join, folks! Had a few crises to manage in the past few days, but now I'm all in!

Glad to have you join us! If you're ever too busy to post for a while, just let us know beforehand.

"This is me speaking," the character spoke. But you won't hear my thoughts.

I'm going to make a Bluff check so the thought police doesn't catch the character thinking.

Bluff: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16

This is how I'll format my posts. If you do it differently, just make sure that each component (action, speech, thought, OoC, dice rolls) is distinct.

Otherwise, welcome to the group! Once everyone has posted at least once to the gameplay thread, we'll get started.

Mysterious Sara wrote:
Don't have time to input all her data to her profile tonight, but her stats are above, she has the Oversized Ears alternate racial trait, her traits are Ugly Swine (Race) and Killer (Combat). Skills with ranks are Alchemy, Intimidate, Engineering, and Sleight of Hand. First level feat is Secret Stash Deed. :P

Please remember that PCs should be built with one trait, not two. (Source)

Thanks for your patience, everyone! Since we have six complete applications (everyone except Chungus) and this isn't for PFS credit, I don't see why all of us can't play the game! I'll be adjusting combat to accommodate for a larger party, but I think everything will work out! (If someone needs to bow out, the game can go on.) I'll create the gameplay thread tonight.

@rhino43grr, AbsolutGrndZer0: It looks like we will definitely be playing We Be Goblins! with custom characters. And, AbsolutGrndZer0, it's a-ok.

Thanks to everyone for their applications! I've had a good laugh at the antics our potential goblin heroes have gone through so far, and I'm excited to see what will happen once the game begins. I've taken the liberty of compiling the current applications into a list for your convenience. Please let me know if I've made a mistake or an omission.

I'm away this weekend because of a convention, but I'll definitely be back by Monday to review applications. The game will tentatively start on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016.

I'll give this a shot as well!

After Valeros left his family's quiet farm, he quickly fell in with unsavory mercenaries. There, Valeros found only blood and battle — and loved every moment of it. But when it came to the loot, Valeros realized that if there was no-one left to share it with, there would be more for him. He slaughtered his exhausted compatriots, and many other groups have met a similar fate since. Valeros yet roams around, offering a hearty smile and a strong sword-arm to those in need. Only a few victims see the monster behind the man — but by then, it's too late.

* The effects of this ability have already been calculated into Valeros' statistics.

----- Morale -----
Before Combat If Valeros suspects combat is imminent, he drinks his potion of bull's strength and potion of barkskin.

During Combat Valeros uses his studied target, preferring human enemies. He takes full-attack actions with both of his swords, cutting down one enemy at a time. If he is reduced to 20 hit points, Valeros begins to fight defensively and drinks his potion of cure moderate wounds if he believes that he can still win.

Morale Valeros may be a cold-hearted killer, but he isn't stupid. He flees if reduced to 10 hit points, using his snapleaf if necessary. If he believes his enemies will spare him, Valeros attempts to surrender and claim to be a simple mercenary (making Bluff checks to do so). Of course, an escaped Valeros could become a recurring enemy by serving of some other villain, or organizing a concerted effort with other mercenaries to hunt down his hated nemeses.

----- Special Abilities -----
Amoral Mercenary Valeros gains a +1 trait bonus on Sense Motive checks, and Sense Motive is a class skill for him. As an immediate action once per day, he can shift his effective alignment so that he is considered neutral instead of evil for the purpose of good effects that target evil creatures (such as holy smite or a paladin’s smite evil ability). His alignment does not actually change when he uses this ability. Valeros must be neutral evil.

Bloodstained Hands (Ex) As an executioner, Valeros must be evil. If he ever becomes nonevil, he loses this archetype and becomes a regular slayer.

Studied Target (Ex) Valeros can study a humanoid target as a move action to get +2 to attack, damage, Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival against that target. Against a human, this ability grants +4 to damage instead. If he studies another target, he loses the oldest target.

Thanks for everyone's interest so far.

From what I have heard, We Be Goblins is not very long so it shouldn't be an issue.

@rhino43grr: We Be Goblins! is a module in name, but it's closer to a PFS scenario in length. When I played it, we breezed through it in 4 hours (of fun!).

EDIT: Roll for starting gold, average, or maximum?

Will you be using the Background Skills system?

DOUBLE EDIT: How about traits?

Background Skills: No. You won't be needing background skills where you're going; you're about to embark on a quest for Chief Gutwad, and he has no patience for silly longshanks concepts like 'downtime.' I'm looking for players who can help everyone create goblin mayhem and mischief, so I'm more interested in your character's personality than its background.

Starting Wealth: Average wealth. You can take sentimental items at no cost.

Traits: One. I recommend choosing a goblin race trait from Pathfinder Player Companion: Goblins of Golarion.

Hello! I'm currently GMing a Way of the Wicked campaign, and we've just finished the first book.

1d10 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11

Since 8, 8, 11, 11, 12, 18 would normally be a 17-point buy array, I'll help myself to the reroll.

1d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
1d10 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15

8, 8, 15, 16, 17, 18. One focus, double foible! I think I can work with this. If I remember correctly, Talingarde doesn't have much respect for arcane spellcasters; it would be interesting to play a character that tries to do genuine good in a country where his skills are misunderstood at best. I'll have my application ready soon.

Nebten wrote:
If this is for PFS, then you don't create your own goblins. You are to use the 4 pre-gen goblins.

Thanks for letting me know; I've edited my original post accordingly. I'll leave it as an option for the players: we can play the module for PFS credit if everyone interested wants to play pregenerated characters, or we can play it for fun if people want to create their own goblin characters.

The most glaring abuse of Hasten Spell might come from spells such as dominate person, silence, and sleep. That being said, there are tons of spells I would love to see used by players more often that have a casting time of 1 round (such as blessing of the mole or spite), and I think this feat would definitely make them more viable.

I think you might even be able to get away with a +1 adjustment. It would make summoning easier for a wider variety of characters.

There is already a Feat out there that allows classes with the Aura class feature to cast Summons as a Standard Action. This would benefit wizards (without using Mythic) and let them also cast spells as a Standard Action. ... That said, there is a limitation on the divine version (the Aura class feature), which is why I decided on +2 to the spell level.

Did you intend for this feat to be only used by arcane spellcasters?

You are goblins of the Licktoad tribe, deep in the Brinestump Marsh. When you discovered one of your own could write — stealing the words from your heads, cursing the tribe with bad luck! — you did what any good goblin woud do: you branded his face with his precious letters, ran him out of town, and took all of his stuff. But that's where things got interesting, because just before you were going to burn down the hut, Chief Gutwad found a weird box within the building. Inside was a map and a lot of fireworks — fireworks that you immediately used to burn the hut down. The next morning, Gutwad declared a feast tonight to drive away any lingering bad luck from Scribbleface’s poor decisions.

But perhaps even more exciting, all of you have been secretly invited to meet at Chief Gutwad’s Moot House. Why would the chief want to speak to you? It can only mean that he’s got an important mission… one that the other goblins of the tribe couldn’t pull off. This could be your chance to go down in Licktoad history!

Hello! I am recruiting four players for Pathfinder Module: We Be Goblins!. Though I’ve both GMed and played Pathfinder for about two years, this is my first time GMing a play-by-post game. I intend to run a full Adventure Path on these forums at some point in the future, so towards that end I want to get some experience with play-by-post and find people I can invite to future games.

Quote:
Players who wish to receive Pathfinder Society credit for playing through We Be Goblins! must use one of the pregenerated goblin PCs provided in the adventure.

If enough people want to play this module with pregenerated characters for Pathfinder Society credit, I will hand out chronicle sheets once the game ends.

General Expectations
I'm going to hold you to the same standards that I hold myself to: I expect you to post as often as is needed, adjusting to the pace of the group, as need be. I plan to post at least once per day. When you do post, I expect you to push the game forward. If our pacing changes to the point of negatively impacting your ability to keep up, I hope and expect that you will talk to me earlier rather than later. I promise to do the same if our positions are reversed. (Thanks, Painlord!)

When necessary, we will be using ditzie.com for a battle map.

Character Creation
You can choose to play a pregenerated character (available here) or create your own 1st-level character according to the following guidelines.

Race: Goblin.

Ability Scores: Use the Standard Fantasy (15 points) purchase system or the elite array (15, 14, 13, 12, 10, 8).

Sources: Any Paizo.

Special: Describe your character’s appearance and personality, then write a goblin song for your character. Prove that you are the gobliniest of them all.

Deadline
I will close recruitment on Monday, 21st of March, 2016.
