Agreed. That being said having several dancing lights more a day is nice. Makes me wish that Kitsune could use the Dancing lights feet from the Monsters Codex Both it (Sniper's Lantern) and another (Shadow Shroud) would be amazing for characters with the spell like abilities in question...
Shame that they are banned due to being drow only.. if they were open to other races it would be cool aplication of material for Kitsune and Tieflibgs. Sorry, wandering thoughts..still miffed my tiefling can't enhance her vestigial wings
My fellows in the Art,
While not a student of 'Sin' magics, I am one of the Pathfinders who found the lore you study. Having fought more than one Sin Mage, I can say that the magic and lore is potent but it takes a strong will not to be twisted by them.
So, like I told my student, take a care in your magics. Of course the same could say of my own magics.

I imagine that my VC's Lodge is hidden in her Wizard's Tower outside of Korvosa (she's VC of 'NEAR' Korvosa.), hidden in a hidden extra dimensional space. A few more levels and it goes from being a smallish one with library, bedrooms and a kitchen (and small storage closet) to a two story tower with a orange grove outside it.
OOC: Right now she has a few (2) castings of Create Lesser Demiplane that she renews every week. When I get a few more levels.. it will be Create Demiplane..which is when the orange grove comes around.

How about we stop flogging the dead equine ?
I'm tired of "player x" misrepresents the spell arguments. At nearly 140 scenarios and at least 1/4 to1/3 of them in tier for that spell I've seen it used FOUR times
Can't we move beyond the ban this train we are on now?

My view also.
There are just too many "after hit", "when targeted", to suggest it's not intended to work after targeted/hit. More or less my feeling.
It really nerds the spell into uselessness if it doesn't act as an interrupt after target has been chosen. It certainly nerfs its purpose of protecting against cave ins.
It's dome nature has nearly gotten me at least once.
I was flying when the contingency kicked in. Yeah it kept the second aoe detonated above me from taking 80 points from my prot vs fire but the summoned dire critters nearly got me from below.
Knowing how it works I'd say things like black tentacles works just awesome on or rather under it

Can we not go into ban happy mode again?
I've had my seeker level Mage use it 3 times.. 2 triggered by contingency.
It's handy but not all powerful. I have seen at least one player get EATEN because he forgot it was a dome. (Burrower came up from underneath and got him).
In 2 of the 3 times I've used it.. it's bit me in the butt. (Cut me off from healing, and/or kept me from using spells with Line of Effect.. )
I have (since the 2nd use) considered it very much a double edge sword.
Yes, it is a very very handy 'Got out of jail' card when you got critters whose melee attack is nearly equal to your AC (In my case.. a nice healthy 23-28 depending on buffs). It also completely cuts you off from about 80% of your party contributions and almost ALL your healing options. (Shield Other and Life link are it I think)
And being stuck in the middle of 2 very potent golems pounding on it for 20-30 points a hit (2/round each) while the rest of the party is occupied brings home a LOT of points to it being NOT the 'perfect' escape method.

A 10 Con is nor more selfish than making a melee type with a 10 wisdom or 7 thur 9 Cha. The frail wizard is a fixture of literature. I have coughed up 3-5 grand to help out as many (if not more) fighter types than caster types.
I find it intensely selfish to judge one player by the yardstick you're playing it. You want a minimum Con score for your characters that is okay. Don't push others to your rules though.
That being said.. 4 grand or whatever is okay. You aren't MANDATED to toss in every copper piece to help out. That is your call.
My glass cannon, who survived all the way to 13.2, could hit for some hellishly good hits (the standing record is a 108 hp fireball and a 140-ish shocking grasp) but she also saw about preparing for her own survival. (Glamered Silken Ceremonial Armor +4, Greater Plague Rat's Belt, Extended and/or Empowered (Greater) False Life and standbys like contingent emergency Force Sheild, gaseous form and such.)
I also alternated between hellishly heavy hits and buffing the party with communal spells (cause who doesn't like 4 stoneskins in one spell casting), Haste, Windwall and other fun.
The OP has a valid complaint in that a 10 (or the rare 8-9 con) is a bit squishy. but so is the 12 Con wizard when facing things that do like 2d8+LOTS with vital strike (or worse)
Some classes, barring HUGE investment in FCB, Feats, items and such.. are gong to go squish against the big critters. Not everyone can get to 140+ hp at 12th level. Not everyone can easily stabilize at -9.
Simply put, peoples play styles differ. I get twitchy when I have a stat with a negative bonus. I have a few that do but more often than not, I try to play around that weakness and fill it when I can.
Please don't demand anything of other players though. I have made suggestions to other players in the past, but demanding is a no-no.

We've had 2.75 runs of the EotT down here in Jax. I've GM'd 1 and 1/2 runs of it (Parts 2& 3 twice) and played it thru myself.
The big issue is time. We have not had a run of EotT take less than 3 months. My first session (which I Gm'd) took nearly 5 months and we lost a player on the way. My play thru as a player took nearly 3 1/2 months (Holidays, school, and so on). The session I GM'd has taken 4 months so far and is looking to be unfinished as one of the players moved out of the region.
My issue is this: Seeker arcs by their nature are the 'final' hurrah of the players and as such they are things that the players (at least the ones down here in Jax) don't want to do as lash together group of anyone who sits down. All three groups had a good dynamic between players and the PCs and planned out things weeks/months ahead of time. Each of them waited months for the rest of their team to 'catch up'. I know the first team has 2 players wait 7 1/2 months, I myself waited 10 for two players in 'Cayden's Krew'. (Our group) as I was the first to push to 12th level.
These aren't easy to pull off. The first part of EotT was over 8 acts long and had a HUGE set of fights in it. Challenges that ran fast and hard in a gauntlet. The players were at it for nearly 9 hours when I GM'd it. They had a blast.
This, the point I'm trying to make, is the last hurrah and as such it isn't something most players will rush up to and play. In Jax there are something between 2 and 3 groups coming on 12th/33xp and they are all looking around to make their own 'Krew' to do Eyes of the Ten.
There are fewer things the 12 players here in Jax like talking about than their 'last hurrah' with their first characters to do a Seeker Arc. Several are waiting for alternates to EotT to play thru (since recharges of stars down here seem damn few and far between even among the Con Goes) and while all agree the Reborn Forge is an awesome option, it doesn't have the same zing as the backstory and grand scope of EotT for those of us who played it.
It's a module. We need a scenario series that ties to what the players have seen over the last few seasons. I know I'd love to see a Seeker level confrontation with a certain renegade Pathfinder who burned a lot of bridges and is currently up to something behind the scenes.
Several different options for 12+ content has been brought up.. or even a newer tier range of 9-13 has been bandied around by several folks. I like the idea of Quests that tied specific season elements that haven't been covered.
Honestly I think the movie saw says it best. 'It you build (or write it) they will come'.

The announcement of the herald was met by a loud raspberry emerging from the lips of a faerie dragon sitting on the shoulders of his mistress, Venture Captain Cindrana Longpath. She was silent through both the announcement and Rippy Wipple's extended response, which lasted at least a minute before the mini dragon retreated to the huge mug, at least in proportion to him, that he noisily slurped from via a straw.
"Your lecture, as usual, is well directed Grundesnutt. You can add several other spells to the mix, such as Snowball and others of the conjuration school, that when properly matched against the right fiend in the wound, can be devastating. Other items such as the simple tanglefoot bag, places properly, can be devastating effect. I saw an Alchemist during the siege of the Diamond City use a tanglefoot bomb to devastating effect against fiendish flyers. I can offer you excerpts from my personal journals if you wish, to fill in spots. she offered with a smile as she pulled out a small journal full of neatly drawn diagrams and mystic spell formula.
As I said, your work is of interest, but I am in need of.. Peer review while I get materials needed and associates who can help me map out the city in real time for the casting. I fear to do it right, I'll need to actually making the focus magical in and of itself, so that it can change as needed. Feel free to correspond with me as needed, the card in the front piece of my journal contains the names of two trading companies I have arrangements with. They will ship any missives you have as needed. Leave word here at the tower if you like and I will return as needed, but unfortunately I have to visit an old associate from my days at the Acadeamie and explain to him why kidnapping my kin is not to be pondered. she stood and offered her hand, the look on her face making clear it would not be an easily survived 'talk'
With no more words, she vanished as she cast a spell
Cindrana smiled as she shifted to get another drink from the decanter, exposing an ornate tattoo of radiant light and yellow fire that burned around a moving sihedron rune in it.
"I had a short time to discuss matters with a native speaker once or twice. Sadly all those encounters ended quite...precipitously. Her familiar snickered at the comment.
"My lovely mistress lady is not being quite fair,
She and her allies did face a Master of Runes..
With in his own most ancient lair...
It was at the hands of she and her fellow slayer of runes..
Was the end of the Lord called Krune."
The little faerie dragon preened at his bit of doggerel as the wizard slipped him some more self-water taffy to shut him up.
"I hope to hear from you soon, I fear something sleeps fitfully in Korvosa."

The woman in the back is quiet, though she stands out for a variety of reasons. Two unseen servants hold books while she points a finger at a journal while she reads through Grundersnutt's thesis, while her eyes follow the flashing pages of lore in the other that her spell calls up. Centuries of lore, fragmented but relevant, flash by the pages as she finished the spell and continued to read it and the thesis the gnome created. All the while her quill flickered back and forth under the power of her cantrip.
Very interesting work you have here Grundersnutt The tiefling says in flawless Thassalonian, as a third unseen servant brings around a tray of meat, cheese and fruit and a decanter of chilled wine. The Venture-Captain of 'near' Korvosa smiles at him, her black eyes burning yellow from the depths of her hood. I would like to ask many questions about your research into these magics.. I understand them fairly well but I would not have noticed the foundation myself. I don't suppose you would be willing to visit my modest lodge outside of Korvosa, there are.. locations I would like your opinion on.

A heavily tattooed tiefling, bearing the sidhedron rune in a moving glowing fire, steps up. In her hand in a long club made of a human femur that she leans upon while her faerie dragon alights on her shoulders and curls around her neck protectively.
"Tis been a busy season, or three, cleaning up messes, foiling long sleeping nightmares awakened, chasing down traitors and murders. Add in the recent kidnapping of kin of mine..and I think I shall take my 'reward' of the title 'Seeker' and set up something in Korvosa." Cindrana Longpath, Lady of the Rods, Mistress of the elements, Rune Killer, smiled she fed her companion another bit of taffy.
"Some time ago.. I was cast out of Korvosa' premiere school of magic when my 'tainted' blood changed me, I think.. perhaps, I shall set up my tower just outside the city limits.." She grinned wickedly as her dragon familiar started to snicker, though he still chewed his taffy treat. "Cindrana Longpath.. Venture-Captain of Korvosa.. or near it...has a nice ring to it. Perhaps I'll visit my old stomping grounds with some friends and attend the festival." She turned, snapping her fingers as she hummed a snappy little drinking song..
Cindrana Longpath, Female Tiefling, Wizard (Admixture)12/Pathfinder Agent 1, now Venture Captain of (near) Korvosa.
If you read the quoted material., you'd see the Harrowed feat is still listed as being illegal despite Mikes posts in the past.
I think the OP was looking for some clarification as to that. Additionally, Hero Lab will want citations from Additional Resources before they fix it.

Greetings Tahonikepsu,
I, Cindrana Longpath Lady of the Rods, greet you. I have heard of the curious events leading up to the discovery of the Diamond Sage and the lost lore of the Jewel Sages. I am currently on 'sabbatical' with kin in Varisia as my past actions seem to have upset certain members of the Aspsis Consortium but I'm sure after I make retaliations against my kin here unprofitable they will cease.
My only concern are the stories of the theft of the Emerald Sage jewel, we cannot let this stand. The man who has it will never use it for it's intended purpose but only his own gratification and empowerment. Allow myself and a handful of those I trust to recover it for you and Amenopheus to discuss who should bear it. From what I have heard the two of you have complimentary natures, that might clash on occasion, both serve your mutual desire to rebuild the sages.
Respectfully,

I think some of it comes from the menal disconnect of organized play.
We have all "saved the world"
I dont know if in organized play, you have been given equipment to save the world.
OR it seems that the PFS is a theives guild that collects loot, and never distributes it out. Which describes the concept of murdehobo?
I dunno. Recently in organized play my group did an entire scenario where we mostly captured the bad guys. (The Pali brought a LOT of rope and stabalized via heal skill most of them at the end of each fight).
And we also took on an ancient evil wizard brought back to life by a vile cult. (the Waking Rune)
Speaking as my admixture wizard the only reasons I got it was that I wanted a few more fort based saves for the evasion types I run into.
To me
Pros...
-fort save
-condition is a nice plus
-SR, though I have a good penetration ability AND a lssr rod of piercing
-I can Rime spell it with my rod
-Close in friendly, I don't blow up my buddies.
Cons
-I can't alter it's elemental form with my admixture ability
-ranged touch, rotten luck with RT spells
-Conjuration so I don't get intense spell bonus damage or the level bump from my tattoo
So I like it, it fills a need I have though I wish there were more no SR evocation spells.
You can get a lot of utility out of them that you wouldn't out of the feats. I play an Admiture Wizard in PFS play.. I use flexible evocation to alter spells like Fireball, Burning Hands and Burning Arc to slam Ice/Cold spells that can entagle the enemy.
I'm assuming that Burning, Thundering, Toppling spells might do the trick in specific situations. I'm considering Thundering but I have enough force spells that throw folks around that Toppling isn't too useful and still debating about burning.. as a learned feat.. not such a good bargain..as a bought rod.. definitely.
The ones I'm curious about are bouncing and echoing as well as a few others.
Hmm.. too bad you can't 'dial down' the damage of your spells. Have to watch what I use on them. the 'DOWNSIDE' of being an evoker.
I know that the feat allows for non-lethal damage but is it still possible to kill by doing soooo much non-lethal damage that it piles up to 2 or 3 times (or more) of the target's HP?
I'm asking because I'm considering getting it and/or the metamagic rod and am wondering if a 8d6 merciful fireball can still kill or not.
Since it got moved to Rules I doubt it will get answered for PFS
FiddlersGreen wrote: Oh I don't doubt that it's useful, it's just that you can't cast the spell from the binding trine (I was disappointed by this when I read the description a little more closely).

Oh yeah.. it does.. and given I'm looking forward to using it with a few wands of elemental spells (lesser) to really upset anyone close to me.

Question does it just 'eat' the hostile spell cast at the pc or can you use it as a reservoir tattoo and cast the spell out of it? I like it either way.

Of course I got a few levels yet to go before it becomes an issue BUT given my tiefling already has Varisian Tattoo (evocation) and a few emergency spell tattoos and I'm trying to figure when to get a resevior tattoo already, this seems a likely PRC for me.
I like my tiefling. She's new and shiny BUT I like my 'plain Jane' Varisian Gunslinger/Alchemist as much or more. Are there thing I want as special boons, yes. More races opened up aren't among them.
I think four seasons before rotating in some new fresh races is about right. I look forward to making a Kitsune rogue or bard in season 8 and have LOTS of ideas to play with till then involving nothing but core race types.
So, for the tattoo creation feat will there be a substitution like there is for other classes?
Brian Lefebvre wrote: familiar tattoo does not allow you to have both a familiar and a bonded item. that is what I'm thinking but you lose 2 abilities out for society play then. Familiar AND a creation feat you can never use. PFS play has adjusted other classes (such as substitution of scribe scroll with another feat)
Hence my query about the ability.
I got a wizard I wanted to play this weekend but the session a the FLGS went long and currently she's 'stuck' in that one. We had to go over this we the new player a bit.
My question is this, 'what if you DON'T have a familiar going into the class?' My tiefling wizard use arcane bond not a familiar. It seems a bit...twinkish to assume it grants me a familiar as well. I try to role-play not ROLL-play but the idea of wizard with lots of ink appeals to me.

So, per both the Core Rulebook and the following link:

Hello.
A ruling came up from our Game Master (GM) in regards to the "Favored Class Options" pg 23 in the recently released APG.
When presented with this for a Sorcerer I'd planned on making, the GM was rather disturbed that some classes got this and all Wizards got was additional spells in their spellbook.
He was quick to point out that it was hugely unbalanced if permanent abilities were gained by the other classes and Wizards (and Witches) only got them in their "potentially destroyable" spellbooks (or pets).
He apparently did not appreciate the comment I then made to explain my impression of balance behind these options, as "Well, I suspect that destroying a spellbook or Witch's pet isn't as common as you might feel it 'should' be. Kind of takes away from the fun, you know?"
This was the only thought I could whip up in the quick talk.
Has anyone any insight as to what makes these optional choices "balanced" so I can argue the point clearer, or on the behalf of the fine developers of this amazing game system?
Please let me know.
Cheers!

Hello all.
I'm relatively 'new' to the Pathfinder system, and need some assistance from the experts and creative types on here to come up with a spell list of sorts, as well as perhaps advice for a new character.
First and foremost!
1) 25 Point Epic character, base stats are 8 & Human race. (I have a set of stats, but welcome to see other thoughts.)
2) The end plan is to: Sorc + Dragon Disciple (no variation at this time)
3) Upbringing and training is from the Arabic type setting (but not specifically Pathfinders "Qaidra" location.
Thus...
I'm primarily aware that the Sorcerer + Dragon Disciple combination really isn't a 'good mix' but, I really want to make it be as 'pure' to that as possible. So please try to focus on suggestions with that in mind.
The biggest question I have is:
1) Should I be more melee minded, or can it work to be pure-er caster minded, with the eventual "switching into a dragon".
If you have any suggestions for spell lists and the like, our game is looking to start play at 5th level characters (i.e. he'd be lv5 Sorc).
Any advice is welcomed with regards to stats, spell list choices, or 'style of play', but please realize-- no changes in class (yet).
Thanks in advance!
