Male Human Gamer

So, I've been thinking a lot the last couple of days and working out various character concepts, and I'm not finding anything that inspires me.

Rather than force it, I'm choosing to take this as a sign that I should drop out. I'm sorry for any inconvenience to the very kind GM who chose me, and the other players, but I think it's better to do it now than to find out a month in to the adventure that I'm just not invested.

So, I think I will drop out and let some other player bring justice to the adventure. Again, sorry for any inconvenience and I wish you all good fortunes and much fun.

-Caro

Male Human Gamer

Dotting in. Thanks for choosing me and I'll try to keep up with my already excellent compatriots here.

I like the idea of a Teamwork feat, given that we're creating our characters to be a cohesive group.

I'm leaning toward an in-your-face martial character (Barbarian, Monk, Fighter, Ranger, Hunter, Brawler, Swashbuckler, gosh there's a lot to choose from) or a healing character (Cleric or Oracle mostly, possibly Inquisitor), but I'm happy to build a character to fit a party need also.

Given the large selection of submissions, I didn't really expect to be chosen, so I'll have to think a bit on what personality my character will have as well as race, party role, traits, etc.

Attempting to piece together our party needs, I see so far that we probably need:
* Wilderness skills
* Healing
* Martial stabby/smashy/pokey skills
* Scout/Rogue skills
* Divine magic
* Arcane magic
* Buffing magic
* Ranged weapon skills
* Magic crafting?

I'm sure I've missed some. Help me out, please.

@GM, may multiple characters choose the same campaign trait, or are they first-come-first-served?

And just to clarify, the adventure is scheduled to end at the moment (give or take) that we hit level 6, yes?

Interested.

- What do you like from PbP gaming?
It encourages more role-play than in-person groups, which often lean toward roll-play. I actually enjoy the slow pace to ponder my character's thoughts, speech, and actions.
- Have you ever played or read partially or completely the Ire of the Storm before?
Nope.
- What made you decide to apply?
It looks interesting. I chafe at the restrictions of PFS play lately, and taking a character to level 6 sounds like just the right amount of play. I appreciate your way of introducing it, and I was surprised to see that you're not a native English speaker (not that that made me apply, I just thought I'd mention it in passing).
- What is your roleplaying motto?
"It's All Good". We're all here to have fun.

Let's give her a go.

1: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 6, 5) = 22 17
2: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6, 3) = 15 14
3: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 6, 2) = 13 12
4: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 4, 1) = 15 14
5: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 3) = 8 7
6: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 1, 5) = 12 11

Everyone's gonna die or go insane anyway, so I'm not rerolling.

14 INT

11 CHA

I'm thinking of a Catholic nun (Clergy[wo]man) with knowledge in the occult (spent a year in the office of the chief exorcist), local (having been assigned to this parish long before the war), and medicine (training as a midwife).

As a native of Switzerland, she speaks French and German fluently, and picked up Latin for her Bible studies. She claims to be neutral, but secretly provides nonviolent aid and assistance to the local Resistance, as well as downed airmen.

Will work on a name and further fluff & crunch if I get closer to being selected. I'm completely new to CoC (even the d20 variant) so I'm happy to be corrected on anything I get wrong.

Interested. Long time D&D/Pathfinder player who's somewhat familiar with CoC rules but never played.

I'm drawn to the Alchemist, Rogue, and Champion, but I'm happy to choose last and play anything.

I'm back from a break from playing PFS & SFS and this interests me. Thanks for offering to run it.

Male Human Gamer

I have a Monk frontliner, a Brawler frontliner, and a Wizard glass cannon available. I'm happy to play any of them if there's a role missing, but we're looking pretty well rounded so far it seems.

So I'll suggest I bring Kara Saint-Germain. What better Adventure! than fighting demons at the edge of the world?

I'll have three characters that could be available:

Monk 3
Brawler 3
Wizard 3

All have (or will have by then) 8 XP. Count me interested.

Always happy to have DoubleGold try to kill me. I have several characters who could be available.

Working on a Ysoki Operative. Will have her ready in a day or so.

A Basic Save, to me, means: you succeed, nothing happens to you; you fail then something bad happens. Basic doesn't imply varying degrees of effect based on how I rolled. I would give it a different identifier.

I agree with the general consensus that this is a good idea, and specifically with CookingOrc that "Basic" implies to me more of a "pass/fail" binary outcome. It almost seems like this should be a "Standard [Fort/Reflex/Will] save". Anything that's not a Basic (pass/fail) or a Standard (CS/S/F/CF) outcome is a special case.

Male Human Gamer

When I do a Diplomacy or Intimidate roll, I write the best one I can, then do the roll.

If the roll goes badly, I'll append to it with something insulting or derpy that undermines it, usually with an internal monologue appended to it, something like this:

Gah! Why did I say that? That ruined everything! I hope nobody noticed.

DoubleGold - I'd like a spot if there's one available. I'll roll something up today.

Looking at maybe a Goblin Alchemist or Rogue or Sorcerer, but I'm flexible if eguzki already has an idea that conflicts.

Male Human Gamer

If there's space left I'd like to be considered.

Either tier:
Smiley Stonegirdle, Brawler 3
Yugatta Sakittumi, Monk 3

Low tier:
The Herald, Cleric 2
Yagi Mi, Hunter 2
Jinhong Yeou, Swashbuckler 2 Requested a spot elsewhere
Sarosha, USummoner 2

Male Human Gamer

Looks like I'm first on the waiting list? Good luck to everyone playing.

Have fun, guys!

Have you played or GM'd this AP book before? : Played
Have you played or GM'd book 2 or 3 of this AP before? : No, but have heard it played on podcast
Have you played in a scenario featuring starships before? : Yes, several times, and GM'ed it in person

This might be my only chance to play a Barathu, which I find fascinating as a race. Have not created the crunch yet, but if chosen can do it in a day or so.

What level range? Is there a party role you're looking to fill?

Several low tier characters available. In order of preference,

* a ysoki mechanic
* a human operative
* a lashunta envoy
* a shirren soldier

I have no characters above level 1 yet, but I'm happy to use a pregen for high tier.

Interested. I have a Hunter/2 or a USummoner/2, or a Magus/2 available.

There was a 2nd Edition in the 90's, but it wasn't Pathfinder. :-)

@brunoreturns, here.

I've had to drop out of Helikon's Sewer Dragons of Absalom (line 51 in the Outpost spreadsheet) due to my misreading of the level range.

Hopefully someone with a 3-7 character can take my place. Apologies for the mixup.

Redelia wrote:
The other is a Starfinder game of 1-6, a Night in Nightarch with GM Gustavef, line 95, for characters of level 3-6, which needs 2 players.

Oops, I mistakenly signed up with a Level 1 character for that. I don't have a L3 available, so I've switched to a Pregen.

Kitsune Swashie/2
Tengu Hunter/2
Human Cleric/2 Just realized I have neglected to level him up, but will do that shortly.
Human Magus/2
Elven Monk/3
Halfling USummoner/2

I'm still getting logged out inappropriately (in my opinion) and I will fourth the request to look into the RSS feeds. That's usually how I keep track of my campaigns.

I check in several times daily and almost every time now I have to log in again in order to post.

Thanks.

Definitely interested. Are you asking for character submissions yet?

I'm not feeling inspired in character creation, and work is ramping up, so I think I'll have to bow out.

Good luck and happy adventuring!

Male Human Gamer

@GM Skipper, can you adjust your document permissions?

Male Human Gamer

I'd be interested in any of the evergreens. I have a few level 1 characters who can join at any time.

Male Human Gamer

Wow, that blew up fast. I'm lucky to be chosen. Thanks for running it, GM.

I'm thinking to send Smiley Stonegirdle (Brawler1) into the fray, but I have others available (Hunter1, Oracle1, Monk3, Sorceror2, Wizard1) if there's a specific party need.

Male Human Gamer

Jinny turns to Timmon.

Not quite sure how the rules go but I'll answer as best I can.

Which "Improved combat maneuver" does Improved Feint belong to?

Male Human Gamer

Is Fetchling allowed? Trying to come up with a good character concept to go with the crunch (usually I work the other way around).

Although, there's a rumor going around that Halflings make good Dexxy rogues, so I might just add a little more hairy-footed swagger to Team Halfling.

Male Human Gamer

I'm thinking Unchained Rogue, or possibly Wizard or Arcanist if someone else is set on the Skill Monkey role.

I'll start working on him or her today. Are there any racial restrictions? Any third party sources allowed?

Dotting in. I specialize in all types of characters.

Thanks for the invite and I hope I pass the audition.

@GM, you suggested I dot in to the Gameplay thread also, but shouldn't I wait for that until I have a character generated?

Edit:
I just read the character creation guidelines and I may have to steal these feat modifications for the campaign I'm running in meatspace. Double thumbs up.

This ability functions just like a Diplomacy check to improve the attitude of a person (see Chapter 4 of the Core Rulebook). The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.

Dirty Fighter (Combat) When you hit a foe you are flanking, you deal an additional 1 point of damage (this damage is added to your base damage, and is multiplied on a critical hit). This additional damage is a trait bonus.
Stream Nomad (Kobold) You gain a +1 trait bonus on Swim checks, and Swim is always a class skill for you. You increase the speed of any raft, barge, keelboat, or rowboat you pilot by 4 miles per day (1/2 mile per hour).

Tricks
Trained for Air Support An animal trained in air support knows the attack, bombard, and deliver tricks.
Attack The animal attacks apparent enemies. You may point to a particular creature that you wish the animal to attack, and it will comply if able. Normally, an animal will attack only humanoids, monstrous humanoids, giants, or other animals. Teaching an animal to attack all creatures (including such unnatural creatures as undead and aberrations) counts as two tricks.
Bombard A flying animal can deliver projectiles on command, attempting to drop a specified item that it can carry on a designated point or opponent, using its base attack bonus to determine its attack roll.
Come The animal comes to you, even if it normally would not do so.
Deliver The animal takes an object to a place or person you indicate.
Down The animal breaks off from combat or otherwise backs down. An animal that doesn't know this trick continues to fight until it must flee (due to injury, a fear effect, or the like) or its opponent is defeated.
Seek The animal moves into an area and looks around for anything that is obviously alive or animate.
Swooping Charge The falconer's bird companion flies up and then swoops down into a charge. To perform this trick, the companion must be able to fly, and it must be outdoors or someplace with enough room for the bird to fly great distances in (a grand cathedral may have enough room, but dungeons usually do not). It spends a full-round action flying to a high vantage point, and on the next round makes a charge attack upon an enemy the falconer designates. If that charge attack hits, the bird deals 2d4 points of damage instead of 1d4 with its bite and gains a x4 critical modifier when making the attack. If the bird hits, the target is staggered for 1 round.
Link (Ex) A master can handle her animal companion as a free action, or push it as a move action, even if she doesn't have any ranks in the Handle Animal skill. The master gains a +4 circumstance bonus on all wild empathy checks and Handle Animal checks made regarding an animal companion.
Low-Light Vision (Ex)
Share Spells (Ex) The master may cast a spell with a target of "You" on her animal companion (as a spell with a range of touch) instead of on herself. A master may cast spells on her animal companion even if the spells normally do not affect creatures of the companion's type (animal). Spells cast in this way must come from a class that grants an animal companion. This ability does not allow the animal to share abilities that are not spells, even if they function like spells.
Weapon Finesse

An' ye can still GO RIDE A SQUID, ye soft-scaled lubbers-k-k-k.

Thanks, Sarag. That kind of puts a damper on Cuddles. Rethinking.
