What can I say? I've got a weak spot for 5e and an even bigger one for rolling gobs of dice. 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 1, 2) = 10 Reroll 1s 2d6 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 Reroll 1s 1d6 ⇒ 2
At least the rerolling of ones cancelled out my usual abysmal luck. Brainstorming time.
I've had a few more questions pop up while working on things. Sorry for the quiz. How do proficiencies work? Can a vylshalan only ever use light blades and light armor or can I still use other stuff? If not, can I ever learn to use something else? Are shields the same way? Didn't notice a proficiency for shields listed on any of the races. Acolytes of Bael have Undeadwise and I noticed that it's not one of the listed skills. Typo or something unique to just that class? How does negative luck work? Is it just good luck in reverse? Like would you just reroll two of my good rolls when it would help the bad guys or get me in trouble?
Just here to collect my brownie points and do my rolls. My first idea after reading over everything was for a Vylshalan Acolyte of Bael with a focus on augury to make some kind of creepy spirit talking oracle character. Not for sure how I'd tie that into a mercenary company just yet but like I said, just the first idea I had. Anyways, rolls! Might: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 2) = 9
The unluckiest roll possible for my luck stat. At least the dice have a sense of humor. =\ HP: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Gold: 2d6 ⇒ (5, 4) = 9
I think that's all the rolls. How do the bonuses to stats work? Is the +1 to Might and Endurance a bonus to the 9 and 11 I rolled or to the Attribute score? And does that benefit and the usual racial boost apply before or after I can move my stats around?
Ok, finally got something I'm happy enough with. Sorry for holding things up but at least one other person took advantage of the deadline extension so I don't feel completely terrible. I was kinda having trouble coming up with an idea that felt exciting to me. I'm already playing a sorcerer in one game so I tried something completely different with this guy to mix things up a bit. Not what I'm used to so it'll probably be terrible. =P Hoping to have him be somewhat melee focused for awhile, then switch over to a supporting and summoning role once the difference between a full bab class and his half bab starts getting really noticeable. Anyways, here's my character.

Yeah, what's up with that? =P Faceless recommended that I use the Fey traits and apply them to a human for my idea, and then he was also nice enough to let me scribble out the humanoid part and put fey instead. Tada!
Hey there stranger! Stopping by to dot, post interest, and see if any other potentially interested people would be interested in collaborating with me to make a pair of siblings, possibly twins. Just something I personally like roleplaying and thought might fit in with the close-knit feeling of the game.
Here's my first draft: Nessessa. I'll have to go back through later and clean it up some but I think it gets the idea across for now. Faceless, let me know if you don't like the direction I took the class. I didn't do a very good job of explaining it in the PM but hopefully using the Ninja tricks to emulate fey abilities doesn't strip away too much of the flavor from the class.
Quote: The Shadowlands were once Kyonin, but with it's utter destruction at the hands of a massive meteor strike, it is little more than a shattered wasteland covered in eternal shadow by a cloud of ass and dust. *immature giggling* Now that that's out of the way...I'm tempted. Not sure how I feel about the wound thing but I liked the other stuff I read. I'll have to think about it so just dotting and rolling for now. How do you feel about building custom races? Rolls: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 6, 3) = 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 1, 6) = 16 4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 6, 3) = 16 4d6 ⇒ (6, 1, 6, 4) = 17 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 2) = 9 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 1, 5) = 16
Here's the submission I'm going with: Agira Marca. There's no way I'm going to have time to develop the other idea I talked to you about so I just went with the safe choice. Not even sure if you're allowing multiple submissions anyways. I'm not 100% done at the moment but I'm only just lacking adventuring gear and maybe the answers to your questions if I can find the time before the deadline. I'll finish it up and make it all official when I get home later tonight.
I think you're doing a good job so far. I don't feel like it's really fair to yourself to try equating player success to DM success, especially when you have to fight like twenty other people for five slots sometimes. The only thing I can think of to bring up is the random encounters. Personally, I don't think they fit too well in pbp games just because they slow things down a lot. We've been pretty lucky with them so far though since they've all lasted like one round. Maybe just pick out a few of the more interesting ones and toss them in when it seems appropriate instead of throwing a whole jungle's worth of snakes at us? =P
This actually seems pretty cool and having the numbers handled for me is a nice bonus. Looked at the sample character sheet and pretty much knew right away that there's no way I'm pulling that off on my own. Had a couple of questions I didn't see an answer to when I looked over the thread though. Hopefully I'm not repeating anyone. What's the tone of the game? Serious, light, dark? How useful can I expect a character with little combat skill to be? Will there be chances for sneaky heroes, social heroes, or supportive heroes to do their things or is the focus on fighting? How do you feel about a character that's already been captured by the government once already? One of my ideas was for a hero that was turned over early, studied and experimented on, and eventually turned into a walking, talking 'enhanced interrogation technique' for the government.
Here's my submission: Tharros, God of Decay My first thoughts were to make him LE but as I started writing, I really started to like the idea of 'the death of all things' as a balancing force rather than a malevolent one. Gotta keep the nearly infinite creations of the gods in check somehow, right? Depending on the setting, he might also be a force meant to keep the creations of the gods from rising against them. By making their lives finite, he slows their progress and lessens any threat they might one day pose to the gods. |
