Background Acolyte of Lathander
Feature: Shelter of the Faithful You and your adventuring companions can expect free healing and care at a temple of your deity, though you still must pay for any material components. Those who share your religion will support you (but only you) at a modest lifestyle.
Personality Trait I see omens in every event or action. The gods are trying to speak to us, we just need to listen.
Ideal I seek to prove myself worthy of my god's favor by matching my actions against his teachings.
Bond My brother and I owe our lives to the temple that took us in when our parents died.
Flaw Once I pick a goal, I become obsessed with it to the detriment of everything else in my life.

Physical description: Haven typically wears the outfit provided to aspiring priestesses by the temple of Lathander: a plain white tunic and skirt with golden embroidery, a violet sash tied around the waist, and a pair of sandals with straps that go up slightly past her ankles. It doesn't seem much thought was put into actually tailoring the clothes for their wearer; Haven's outfit hangs loosely from her shoulders, the excess fabric sagging against her sash and barely even touching her frame.

Haven is a bit taller than most human women, standing 5'8" with golden hair that is short but curled. It's hard to judge her actual build, especially considering her general modesty and the unflattering way her clothes drape across her, but she can prove her own toughness when put to the test. Her default expression almost appears to be one of constant wonderment; her lips parted slightly and her bright blue eyes sparkling in the light.

History: Beneath the shelter of the temple of Lathander, Haven stirred in a restless sleep. She was having a nightmare; the same one that had come to her night after night. Clouds of darkness billowed across the landscape, swallowing everything in sight; her beloved brother, her friends at the temple, and even Waterdeep itself were all swallowed by this all-consuming corruption. But Lathander's light still shone - just a speck at first but then growing until it pushed back against the darkness. Somehow, despite everything she knew about herself, in the middle of that light, Haven saw herself. And she was not alone.

Haven shot up out of bed with a gasp, a cold chill running down her spine and her hands still trembling. She felt the dreams growing more urgent and could no longer ignore the message they contained. Lathander had given her a message and the high priests would hear it.

A fool. That's what they called her. A childish girl that confused silly fantasies with the will of her lord. They insisted no force could threaten Waterdeep, especially one that Haven herself could fight against. They told her that the Morninglord would not waste such meaningful prophecies on one such as herself. Why would he? What could possibly make an initiate like herself worthy of such an honor? She was wasting their time with the delusions of youthful arrogance.

Haven's head bowed, the marble floor distorted by the tears forming in her eyes. She went before her elders expecting gratitude for her faithful service; instead she got this - a betrayal that stung worse than any pain she had ever known. But she knew she was right, her heart would tell her nothing else. And she told them that too. She told them how blind they were. How unwise they were. How stupid they were. The tirade continued until her brother stepped forward, forcefully dragging her away with a litany of apologies and excuses for his sister's behavior.

It was only a day later that Haven was being expelled from the temple, losing her home and the only life she had ever known. And for what? A dream? Still, she soldiered through it all with the help of her brother, never once letting go of her belief. With their combined resources, Haven was able to rent a room at the Yawning Portal. It was a dump and no place for a priestess but it was all their meager salaries could afford. It was the hope of Haven's brother that she would see the error of her ways, apologize, and work her way back into the grace of the temple. He made certain to visit everyday to try and convince her of that much. But the girl refused to see reason, insisting that she was meant for more. All she had to do was find a way out of Waterdeep and she'd prove it.
