Baradim listens carefully to the words that the magistrate says, arching one eyebrow when he makes the mention that he would be held liable for Laurel's conduct and if she was found guilty.

"If she is found to have -actual- evidence against her, I will be the first one to help track her down and bring her back. Otherwise, there should be a great apology given to the one who had the cure to save this town."

The sun felt refreshing upon his skin as Laurel finally was released, her hug being returned in a light fashion. He was starting to get comfortable with this close contact and couldn't deny there was a sense of enjoyment in doing what was right. A smile spread across his face as he looked between them all. His mind drifted to Grung, who still survived out in the woods. He could understand the man's dedication to his goal; it was good having a tribe to belong to.

"Let's go to Jak's. It is where we've been creating the tea. So far, it has worked miracles and saved lives. Others are bringing it to the outlying communities."

Holy jumping leopard spots batman!

You get one little flu when you start working and you miss all the things that ever have been...thing'd.

Sorry I've been so quiet, I've just been absolutely drained as of late and out of it. I'm much healthier so I'll be back to regular posting. Missed you wonderful folks :)

Sorry I have been quiet folks. Just started a new job, been having to get up at an unholy time. I'll post soon.

Baradim would looks uneasy at the moment, watching the two hotheads of the group, but with Illiam at their side there would at least be a logical voice in their midst.

"Do be careful. Vade is a powerful wizard, do nothing to upset him unnecessarily." The hunters says softly, nodding to them before looking towards the massive warrior and the strange but kind witch. "Let us find the magistrate. Follow me." Kanga follows alongside with him with a relaxed gait as they make their way through Falcon's Hollow, looking for the Magistrate.

"I am with Chillel. Kreed's motives are greedy and self-serving. The Magistrate has been one of the few to stand against the man, I would not wish to have him or his deputies as our foes."

His eyes turned towards Dolok at the end of that, staring at him hard and nodding. "So please...keep your flames in check, friend."

I think also Sense Motive or perhaps Perception could be used to judge the person, the former would work better than the latter. You could tell how a man or woman holds themselves, get an eye for how competent they feel in comparison to you.

"You poke insult at those who saved your town, no wonder diplomacy has failed. You know nothing of the woods, you're not even a real Valer." Baradim says plainly then, shaking his head slightly. "Search for your weaknesses, you will only find failure, I am certain. I will endeavor to clean up the mistakes you make."

He would turn now, moving with Kairon. Unless anything else further was said, he would make his way out in the air and take a deep breath. He hated negotiations with scum, it always left a poor taste in his mouth.

Male NG Half-Orc Hunter 2 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 (12 Tch, 16 Fl) | CMB: +4, CMD: 16 | F: +5, R: +5, W: +2 | Init: +4 | Perc: +7, SM: +8 | Speed 30ft (20ft) | Animal Aspect: 20 rnds | Spells: 1st 0/2 | Active conditions: Baradim - None; Kanga - Animal Aspect: Eagle (+4 Perception)

Baradim has stalked quietly behind the group, moving through the Perch and into the Lumber Consortium's headquarters. Things were going exactly as it seemed to be; Kreed was throwing around his authority and his belief that what he wanted would simply be the law. There was a new confidence in Baradim's steps, in all of their steps, and the hesitation that was once there seemed less than it was before.

Each person made their peace known and from behind, Baradim would whisper a small prayer to the spirits to guide his tongue. When he spoke, his skin seemed to lighten up and his eyes seemed to shine just a bit more than before.

Casting "Enhanced Diplomacy"

"You know you dislike us Kreed and we dislike you. We're not friends, we're not even business partners, but we are aligned against a common threat. Someone is targeting Falcon's Hollow. Perhaps the witch, perhaps the fey, who knows. What I do know is your jacks aren't going to find them. They don't know the woods like we do. They don't have the talent and skills like we do. They can't do what we can." He would step closer now, Kanga prowling at his heel and growling softly as the guards formed a tighter ring around nearby Kreed. He stopped before it was too much of a threat, looking the man in the eyes.

"You will need our help. We will keep the writ, we will be properly rewarded for saving the town, and you will let the deputies return to their proper work and have your men who are not deputies be allowed to go back to their proper duties. You -owe- us. Wouldn't you rather go forward with us as allies for now rather than as enemies?"

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Ha! Same thing happened to me in another thread. If I can count Kairon as an aid another, that'll give me a 22 Diplomacy.

Male NG Half-Orc Hunter 2 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 (12 Tch, 16 Fl) | CMB: +4, CMD: 16 | F: +5, R: +5, W: +2 | Init: +4 | Perc: +7, SM: +8 | Speed 30ft (20ft) | Animal Aspect: 20 rnds | Spells: 1st 0/2 | Active conditions: Baradim - None; Kanga - Animal Aspect: Eagle (+4 Perception)

I don't necessarily think it is because of disinterest in the campaign that things have calmed down, I think it is more that we are just in a more down-time oriented free space right now. Until this point, our group has been very driven and goal-oriented; get into the woods, go to the places, find the ingredients, bring them back. We're now at a point where that isn't the case, there is no time crunch, and things are very up in the air. I think it is natural that there is a bit of a lull as the characters tend to relax more and things aren't as (immediately) strenuous and stressful.

As for loose ends, I know Baradim trusts the majority of the Consortium as far as he can throw them, hence wanting to deliver the remains himself. For OOC reasons, it is rough giving up a magic weapon to a family when we could sell it and split the cost among ourselves. I was hoping maybe they want it sold, they take a bit themselves, they get closure hearing how he was buried, and maybe they get out of Falcon's Hollow with their coin to start elsewhere? Nothing big, more an emotional scene than anything.

For what I'm interested in is hunting down who introduced the disease to the town anyways. Someone has cost the lives of more than a handful of valers and threatened their way of life. Whoever it is must be stopped and brought down before they find a better way. It could be Vade, it could be the witch in the woods, it could be the fey, who knows?

So far I've had a great time, enjoyed the changes made to the module, and have been enjoying our roleplay. My posts have grown shorter out of either an uncertainty of how I can contribute at that point (you have no idea how much the identifying tracks with other skills thing bugs me) or the fact that another party member has taken care of things. Baradim doesn't really have much, skill-wise, to do inside of civilized areas outside of train Kanga some more. I'm also gearing up to be starting work next week and be moving sometime next month while having started two tabletop games of my own, so I'm just busier than before.

All in all, I'm still down to play even if I'm not posting as much or as long. Whatever everyone else is good for, I am as well.

"Those in mourning tend to visit the graves more than once. Our trespasser may have returned during that time while the soil was moist." Standing up with a slow nod, he'd grin at Illiam.

"Let us see what we can find. Afterwards, Kairon, Chillel, we'll go to see Milon's family. I do not know their religious leanings but...a priest of Sarenrae is never an unwelcome sight to most. Then, we can deal with Kreed and get Laurel released from imprisonment."

Once everyone was ready to go and destinations and decisions had been made, Baradim would head out with his faithful companion at his side back to the graveyard.

"Footsteps by one of the fresh graves, the one of the widow that had passed away from the Blackscour. They came from the woods and then left back into the woods. They were barefoot, if I remember. Not that big either."

Baradim sits back from the empty plate in front of him, licking his lips clean of the sugary sweetness and delicious cinnamon of Jak's most famous dish. The mood had been good, jovial, but there were pressing things to consider. There was a threat still remaining somewhere in the Vale, a threat that seeked to destroy Falcon's Hollow. It could've been the fey within the forest, angry at the mistreatment by the Consortium's forces. That enemy, while a good possibility, was also simply the obvious choice. The witch had the actual fungus needed to cause the plague and there was still those strange footprints that had come to the graves the day that they left.

"So, I am going to go to Milon's home today." The half-orc said somberly, looking at the bow he held. "This isn't my weapon of choice and his family could use the money such an item could fetch. Does anyone wish to join me?" It was not the most pleasant business but it was business to be taken care of now that the day had started anew.

"I'd also like to check the graveyard again, see if those footprints have returned or not. What do the rest of you have planned?

I had planned on having Baradim go and speak with them. Perhaps be willing to sell it and share some of the gold cost with them so they can move or do whatever they wish now that he has parted.

Baradim waves almost shyly to the various citizens there, nodding to a few who came up and thanked him personally. It was a strange, surreal experience for certain. Being what he was and doing what he did, he felt like he got along more with the trees and the animals then the people within Falcon's Hollow.

Kanga would purr happily at the pets from the pets, that low rumbling sound almost being heard over the din of the people within. Baradim chuckled softly to himself as it was almost as if Kanga nodded, a mighty paw coming up to grab her hand and return it back to his head. Her wink however made him seem to blush, his eyes widening for a moment before he stammered.

"I-I...I think that could be very nice. Another night." Perhaps it was just the heat of the room but it was almost like a blush had spread across his face for a moment before Caelis clasped him on the arm and into a warrior's embrace. "Good, very good. Thank you for that."

Kitana's embrace was unexpected but he returned the tight hug back, his hand gripping along her for a moment before she pulled away and made her way out into the night. Amber eyes followed her as she left before he cleared his throat, shaking his head for a moment before nodding towards Caelis. "I think I'll have that drink, friend."

Jak's offer brought a look of surprise upon Baradim's face, his head bowing low for a moment before he nodded. "Thank you Jak. Perhaps I'll come by and use your bath, hunting is dirty work after all." He said with a smile, taking the offered key and looking back towards Kanga. "Maybe a bath for you too."

"I think that sounds nice actually, a bath and then I'll be home." He says, downing the rest of his ale before looking towards the others. "I will see you all early in the morning. Be safe, take care." He says before moving upstairs, eager to clean the trip's sweat and dirt from his form.

Baradim will nod for a moment, staring into the darkness long and hard for a moment before he spoke up again.

"Isha would say the same thing. Celebrate the now, remember the past, look forward to the future. Nature shows us that all things are transient, life comes and goes, and in the end it'll all fade away once more. We must simply enjoy the time we are given." He hears the sounds of celebration at Jak's and a small grin spreads across his face. "Let us go and celebrate, friend. I would ask but...I have a feeling that your tale has sorrow like mine. Another night, we shall smoke, watch the stars, and talk. Maybe once all of this is settled?"

He pats the mighty warrior upon the back and walks with him like friends would, leaning onto him to some degree with a more open smile than the mighty warrior perhaps had ever seen. He would return to Jak's just in time for the cheer, the shouts growing louder when the two half-orcs entered in. Thoughts of Krieg and his mother would soon fade away, replaced by the jovial nature of the night. Dour things would begin tomorrow but tonight, tonight was a night to celebrate success.

The cool air is a welcome change from the heated, stale, and perfumed air of the Rouge Lady. Baradim seems to breathe it in and for a moment, runs his hand through Kanga's fur. He stops walking a distance from the foul place when Goruck asked about his mother.

"She...she was the kindest woman I had ever known." He said with a sad voice, shaking his head. "She used to work at the Rouge Lady but got out the smartest way possible, she married Krieg. I was an affair between her and one of her former customers. Never met my real father, Krieg killed him supposedly in a fit of rage."

"She was always busy helping others, or ensuring that the teasing of others didn't weigh on me too much. Being a bastard and a half-orc does not make a pleasant childhood. She taught me Orcish, learned it herself so she could teach me it, she wanted me not to be ashamed of myself...to not deny a part of myself." Baradim then stop, pointing down towards the outskirts of town near the woods. "She was found there, murdered. Cut open with a knife or something. No killer was ever found and Krieg became a drunk and an embarrassment. It was a year or so later that Isha arrived and took me under her wing."

The sad look upon Baradim's face fades for a moment before he smiles over towards Goruck, giving a nod. "Thank you for coming with me. I would've stewed in my thoughts all night otherwise. I...I am not used to having company outside of Kanga. Most consider me strange, the Green Faith is poorly understood." His hut, still visible in the moonlight, had more in common with Ulizmilla's hut then the solid buildings around it. "I also have never had a chance to befriend someone like me. Most are taken in by Kangra's offers or are here on adventuring business and have no time for a hunter." His visage loses that smile as he sighs, looking ahead once again. "I will be sad when you and the others go. I am certain you have important business to be had."

Krieg's stupor brings a look of disgust upon Baradim's face, his sneer and disapproval finally pulling through his usually calm demeanor outside of combat. The working girl looks towards Baradim with wide eyes and looks away quickly, used to the ferocity that could be seen in a half-orc's eyes when they're angered.

"She was beautiful, kind, before they found her gutted on the outskirts. Then one of the kindest people I knew was gone and the man who was my father became a lout, a fool, and a shadow of the man he once was." His fists clench for a moment before he shakes his head, turning. "Keep to your drinks, Krieg. I've done my kindness." The man would seem to be more confused than angry, though he tried to move but the girl did her best to keep him quiet.

Approaching Goruck, the mighty warrior could feel the anger pulsating from the usually calm hunter that had traveled with him. "I am done with this place, let us find better company." He whispered, moving out of the door and towards the street. A quick whistle brought Kanga to his side as he awaited the noble half-orc.

Male NG Half-Orc Hunter 2 | HP: 20/20 | AC: 18 (12 Tch, 16 Fl) | CMB: +4, CMD: 16 | F: +5, R: +5, W: +2 | Init: +4 | Perc: +7, SM: +8 | Speed 30ft (20ft) | Animal Aspect: 20 rnds | Spells: 1st 0/2 | Active conditions: Baradim - None; Kanga - Animal Aspect: Eagle (+4 Perception)

"Just follow my lead." Baradim says softly back to Goruck, his face turning like the mask that Goruck wore and remaining stoic and solid. Looking towards the wild-eyed half-orc that approached. Kagran was best told as a cheaper, less-subtle parasite when compared to Kreed. Kabran controlled the more base, more impulsive sins that were committed here in Falcon's Hollow.

"Kagran." He says quite calmly, taking the man in a grip by the forearm. He doesn't show any unnecessary disrespect, he knows there are more than enough men nearby to gut both him and Goruck down and what would that serve in the end? He maintains his polite mannerisms, at least as long as Kagran maintains his own. "Not here for business or pleasure, I'm afraid. I'm here to check on my father." He points to the man currently engaged with the plump woman on his lap.

Krieg was a muscle of a man, obviously a jack with how his muscles bulged. Middle-aged, haggard, and obviously drunk, it was easy to tell that the man was a human and from Baradim's posture, there was no love lost from the hunter.

"This is Goruck of the Stone. He is here protecting the envoy from Almas. He is quite the warrior, a good man as well." When Baradim looks back at Goruck, there is a look there as if he was looking for forgiveness, before turning back to Kagran. "If you both would excuse me, I doubt this will take long."

Leaving Kagran in the hands of Goruck, the former thinking he found the jackpot of a recruit possibly and the latter seeing just how seedy of a place this was, Baradim would make his way towards the dice table where his father sat. The older man was whispering into the woman's ear, eliciting giggles and sighs of contentment before his head would dip lower into the woman's ample bosom.

"Krieg." He would say behind his father figure, the man looking back over his shoulder and grimacing for a moment. The two had grown distant over time, one too many fights, the rumor that he had killed Baradim's mother, and the man's descent into a variety of vices while Baradim learned more about the woods than he had of people. "I came here to check on you. I didn't see you at Jak's and I was...unsure of your health." Those amber eyes flickered to the woman nearby, who winked up at him in the most unwelcomed of manners. "It seems, however, that you are fine."

~~~~BEFORE REACHING THE ROUGE LADY~~~~
Baradim would hear the heavy sound and smirk a little as he recognized the full steps of Goruck. Looking over his shoulder as Kanga sniffed at the man's hand for a moment before nudging his head into the warrior's wide palm for more attention.
"Tas skaidrs, ka kaut kas man uzmācas?" He asked back before laughing quietly to himself, shaking his head a little bit. "Perhaps I should ask Illiam to show me how to hide my intentions better."
The hunter seems to take a moment, as if he is deciding whether or not he would talk to the man and reveal his intentions. The walls seemed to fall though and he would let out a sigh that made him seem more tired than he was.
"My father, I should check after his well-being. He and I...are not friends." The grimace upon his face showed exactly how well they got together. "My mother would want me to check...so I will see if he is sick or not. It is easiest to check if he is drinking at the Rouge Lady. If you want, you can accompany me."
Baradim has remained quiet for the time being, following along with the group for the moment. The guards allowed them past and, like Goruck, he felt uncomfortable intruding on something so personal. The blacksmith was a good man and he had tried to do right raising Dolok on his own. When the others emerged, he would give them a nod and make his way back out.
"If we're going to watch each other's back, shall we meet at Jak's? If not...I miss home. I'd like to sleep there." There may have been something off about Baradim, something that didn't seem right on the smile upon his face. Once he learned what the plan was, he'd head off with Kanga back out towards the outskirts of town though. Not home though, not yet.
Baradim would hear the sounds of girls laughing, men cheering and swearing, and music playing faintly. He was nearby Laural's shop of remedies but that was not his goal. No, instead he stood outside of The Rouge Lady. The girls on the porch watched him curiously and the men watched him with dangerous, drunken eyes. He was not a patron of this place, he truly detested the place. Not the practices within it, those would always follow man and woman alike. No, he detested the people within who controlled this den of sin.
"Kanga, palikt." The mountain lion would seem to whine and Baradim would throw him a gaze before his companion willingly obeyed and knelt nearby in the dark. Calmly, confidently, Baradim would enter.
He needed to see if his father was dead or alive.
Baradim waits patiently in the back with Kanga, expecting issues but hoping things will go better than he expects. He has seen the Consortium's negligence and isn't afraid to assume that they will do their best to dissuade them from interrupting whatever plan they're doing.
"You didn't but that is where your actions are leading you to. Keeping guards "busy" isn't something that is done lightly, especially between Goruck and I." Baradim says with a frown, shaking his head for a bit. The sorcerer was still quite young in wisdom, it seemed.
When he mentioned, quite loudly, that he wished to see the Blacksmith Baradim would clap him on the back. "Much wiser. Let us see what they say."
When Dolok looks for support from both Baradim and Goruck, a heavy hand would clasp upon his shoulder. Baradim stood there with a sympathetic but serious look in his eye and for a moment, he studied the young man.
"Dolok, are you sure? Are you sure you're ready to murder those men ahead of you?" Baradim's eyes would move to the guards that seemed ready there for them before flicking back towards Dolok. "They're doing their job, their duty, and they may be willing to die for it. So are you ready to kill them? Are you sure you can bear that responsibility on your hands?"
Baradim would let those words settle into him now, really think about the gravity of the situation. This wasn't a mistake of identity where they thought they'd have to protect themselves with Grung. This wasn't a battle for their lives versus wolves and tatzylwyrms. No, this was something far colder. It would be murder, plan and simple.
"I agree with Chillel, we should calm down. Kreed would not be foolish enough to kill her, not after her cure saved the town. We shall see what the magistrate does and we shall have words. For tonight, let the hunt wait."
Baradim watches as the young man spits out his anger like the fires of his father's smelter. It brings a faint smirk to Baradim's lip as he finishes his drink before looking over towards Goruck.
"Pietiekami daudz ūdens un pat kalni priekšgala. Tas var iet slikti." He whispers to him after hearing the man's quiet prayer. Slowly he rises and as he does, Kanga slips out from underneath the table. The fire show that the sorcerer is showing could be quite the distraction and quietly, they use the crowd to try and get closer should Payday overstep himself.
Orcish:
"Enough water and even mountains will bow. This may go poorly."
Using a swift action to change Kanga's Animal Focus into Owl as well as my own. Gives us a +4 to stealth. I know that it is a well-lit area but the place is full of loud, jovial people and the sorcerer is the best distraction ever.
The way that Payden seemed to lose his composure brings a smirk to the hunter's face as he nods, looking at all the people that have been cured so far.
"I hope so, it'd be in rather poor taste to lock away the woman who saved the families of so many jacks, wouldn't it?" The intention there was very clear; she'd better be set free or else.
Baradim, finally done working in the back, instead sat comfortably at the best table and watched the sick come in and grow healthy. A smile spread across his face slowly as they did, as children weak and frail grew lively and excited and the men, women, and elderly seemed to have a push of renewed life go through them. Rarely did one get to see the reward of hard work so plainly visible but it left the half-orc in a most pleasant of moods.
When Payday enters in and Kanga growls low from underneath the table, Baradim's eyes would follow the man as he made his path across the room. When he came to them with words of praise, he nods slowly towards him.
"We did what we had to, as any true Valer would've done." The comment of the Consortium's policies make Baradim tense for a moment before he looks the man over again, nodding for a moment.
"So when is Laurel Usessa being released and apologized to? After all, it is her cure that is saving the town. We merely braved the woods to fetch the ingredients."
Baradim, seeming to be satisfied, moves around to the back of the establishment and into the kitchen where the ingredients laid in wait. Whispering a prayer for himself, he looked at the others with a smile and began to get to work. If any others asked to help, they too would receive the blessings of the spirit to get the cure made or at least be able to help.
Casting guidance on myself for the +1. Baradim will cast guidance on anyone else who helps create more of the cure. He will do this until an event occur that requires him to stab or exhaustion takes him or the job is done.
Baradim nods quietly, looking at the others before he speaks. "If it is well enough, I rather keep Kanga with me. People would be finding it strange to see me without him, truth be told." The plan is put in motion and the half-orc does his best carrying the items. While he was certainly no Goruck but he was no weakling either. Each barrel was carried with gumption, moved from Laurel's to Jak's quickly and efficiently. When they had all be gathered again, Baradim would sit in one of the seats in the back and watch the coming and goings.
Lady Cirthana's interaction was interesting and he had never seen the woman act in such a way. His eyes narrowed for a moment before he sniffed the air, lowering a scarred hand down to onto the mountain lion's head and giving a scratch to it. "Curious. I never seen her act that way before."
Kairon has put that there was suspicion upon the Lady and Baradim is trying to see if her affection is real.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
"Chillel is right, let us get the cure distributed. We can have pleasantries and food afterwards." He shakes his head in irritation. A few pretty faces and so many lose their direction and their purpose. He steps up towards Lady Cirthana, appraising her for a moment before he spoke. "What has happened in the town since we've been gone? Laurel is been taken and is to be tried and Kreed's men are up in arms? Something is happening, something big."
Baradim woke up in the morning and immediately set himself towards Laurel's establishment. Sneaking in was not really the correct word, he just went in through the back like Illiam would later leave through.
Kanga would keep watch alongside Baradim, who would scan the crowd from within the storefront keeping an eye out on who was coming and who was going.
Baradim worked the mortar and pestle, grinding the ironbloom mushrooms into their softer parts before adding them to the concoction. It was impressive how durable they were, how much they resisted the turning of the mortar as they worked within the space of Laurel's lab.
"I did not advise violence before but...with Laurel's arrest, I am less inhibited. My loyalty is to Falcon's Hollow, not to the Consortium." Baradim murmurs as Kanga lays by the door, quietly resting but not yet sleeping. His eyes flicker upwards now, watching the interaction between Illiam and Kairon. He makes a gesture, as if he is about to speak, but thinks better of it for a moment. "They are comrades, true, but they are both outsiders. Let us see how they react."
He listens carefully between them and smirks as Kairon pushes away from the question, clearing his own throat before adding in.
"Many come to Falon's Hollow looking for reprieve from sins, crimes, and other shames. It is a known tradition to not ask too deeply of visitors but to keep an eye on them nonetheless." He frowns for a moment as he gathers more of the mushrooms, shaking his head. "See...that is where I cannot see the connection. Kreed has always been a man of greed, wanting to maintain his power and push down on the rest. He asks for exorbitant prices from his logging store and the profit goes into his pocket and back to the Consortium. What would he gain from killing the population? It doesn't make sense..."
Baradim stops at the Tribunal and looks at the men with equal parts bewilderment and anger. They took the town's healer and imprisoned her? She was to be tried for crimes? The men draw their weapons as they approached and Baradim grips the haft of his guisarme, his eyes narrowing dangerous at the men for just a moment. He hesitates as the others seem ready to leave, deciding whether these lives and the lives of those who would come to aid them would be worth the cure being properly made.
"Indeed, Goruck. A cruelness has wrapped itself in the heart of the Valers. We'll see what they say on Oathsday."
He turns from them and looks at the others as they walk away, nodding in agreement with Chillel.
"Indeed. Let us begin the cure within the shop and then we'll start collecting the most harmed and take care of the sick. We shall worry about Laurel later."
He looks over at Goruck and whispers softly in Orc, away from the others hearing.
"Ja tas ir triks no Kreed dara, es nogalināt ka cilvēks." He said rather coldly. nodding. Upon reaching Laurel's shop once more, he would not hesitate and would begin to get to work. Turning to Chillel and Illiam, his sour face would become lighter as he smiled.
Orc:
"If this is a trick of Kreed's doing, I will kill that man."
"A prayer, to the spirits, for our good fortune." As he prayed, his hand would reach out and touch each of them. They would feel that slight draft of wind that carried the smell of purest air and was warm despite the coolness of the air. Once done, he'd nod and would begin to help them with their work on the cure.
Casting Guidance three times once on himself, then Chillel, then Illiam. Baradim will be assisting other, since I'm assuming the others are much better skilled for the roll. Also, does her equipment give us any bonus?
Baradim nodded, not particularly eager to learn the tongue of the dark fey but recognizing that there was an advantage in doing so. When Goruck told him of the strangeness that he was feeling, that there was a pressure in his mind, Baradim considered for a moment before nodding.
"I can create a concoction of things nearby at some point. Something that Isha showed me that will perhaps allow for a revelation of some sort..."
When Illiam shifted into the house and the the front door was opened, a sense of dread began to grow in his heart. Entering in, the scuffle that seems to have occurred makes his heart sing with a bestial rage and his grip tightens. Those amber eyes reflect in the dark for a moment now, looking over everything that is there, before he speaks in a low, controlled voice.
"We need someone to wake Lady Cirthana and the Sheriff. Kanga, sargs." The massive feline would seem to go attentive at the command, guarding the front door. It likely wouldn't attack anyone that came by unless they were obviously hostile but the low growl of the mountain lion was sure to keep the curious away.
Baradim would enter into the space and look over the destruction, taking a breath to calm his spirit. With a small whisper in Sylvan, his eyes would flash open and seem to shine just a bit.
Baradim will cast "Guidance" on himself.
Baradim travels with the group, eager to find the alchemist and begin to start the process of creating the cure. There was an ache in his limbs, tiredness pulling him to the shack on the outskirts of town that was his home. Even Kanga looked wearily up at him, the half-orc shaking his head with a wry smile.
"Not yet boy, we're almost there." He murmured as they passed the Rouge Lady. His father was a frequent comer and goer to the place, betting his money away and losing it in drinks, gambling, and the girl of the hour. He despised the place but he knew it was a place that would exist no matter what. Men and women had their vices and there would always be those that supplied them.
Watching Kairon and Dolok try to summon Laurel, he'd shake his head and wait. Subtle attempts would be fine to start with but the hunter would not leave until their cure was being made. Tomorrow morning may be too late for some.
As Goruck gestures him to come closer, Baradim studied the man's face for a moment before giving a slight nod.
"I do. To know the tongue of one and not the other is to invite danger. These woods...they are my home. My real home. I must know the dark fey's tongue, so I can fight them well." When Goruck asks his next question though, Baradim's head tilts for a moment and he studies the mighty half-orc for a moment. "Strange? Strange how? Tell me more."
As Baradim gets on the boat, he turns and grins at his fellow half-orc. The two of them had been in battle together now multiple times, risking their lives for the sake of their comrades as well as for the town of Falcon's Hollow. He clasps him on the shoulder and nods, speaking in the low, rumbling language.
"Mēs vienmēr bija gods. Mēs vienkārši izrādījās to paši." He says, finishing it with a pat on the large man's shoulder before moving away and towards the mountain lion that laid patiently for his master. Barking a command, the two of them would begin to train and play, every game testing another skill along the large boat.
Orc:
"We always had the honor. We merely proved it to ourselves."
The ride along the river was just as peaceful yet as tense as when he rode a log down with his mentor's guidance, bringing a peaceful grin to the hunter's face. He looked over his comrades that laid upon the boat, some sleeping, some resting, and he noticed that he didn't feel quite so strange for once. Perhaps it was that he was in a company of strangeness.
There was Kairon, with his peculiar accent and mannerisms. Chillel, a witch from the mountains calling upon strange magics. There was Illiam, the small trickster with a love of cinnamon and cunning plans. Of course, the local firestarter known as Dolok who burned that which stood against him. The impressive and noble figure of Lunarinus, the best representation of a paladin that the Valer had ever seen, and the stoic and immovable Goruck who guarded them and fought with incredible vigor.
Each one of them was strange in their own way, unusual yet astounding as well. It had only been three days but it was three hard-fought days. A strange friendship made with a hobgoblin, a battle against the forces of the Darkwood Vale, a small exploration of one of the ruins to the North. It truly had felt like weeks had gone by since he had been home but as he passed towards the docks, that hope to save his home began to burn brighter. He was home again.
Getting off the boat and helping others get off as well, he'd shoot a look towards Kairon for a moment before his face spread into a wide, toothy grin. He did his best not to eavesdrop upon their conversation but it could not be avoided, his head turning towards the mighty paladin.
"The spirits already bless you, Lunarinus, for you are a good man. Travel swiftly and check upon your family." Baradim says before clasping the man in a warrior's grip. He'd turn to look at the others, nodding for a moment.
"I know we are tired, I know the call of sleep within a warm bed is tempting, but we must get the ingredients to Laurel. There is no time to waste." If the woman was sleeping, she could be awoken. Sleep was something to ponder when his home was no longer in danger of this awful disease.
The scene is serene and beautiful, the falling sun giving way to a gorgeous night. Baradim watches the stars up above as they twinkle back into existence, like fireflies emerging in the night. The river bubbled nearby, soft and quietly, and there was a sense of peace for a moment before he moves towards the boat.
His eyes widened as the simple feather begins to transform before his eyes, changing into this massive boat that could fit so many upon it. He whistles softly, an impressive feat considering the tusks and jaw structure he has, and he grabs hold of the surprisingly light ship.
"Amazing." He murmurs softly, looking down at Illiam with a grin. He helps the small man get into the boat and begins helping the others as well. He waits to be one of the last ones within the boat before he looks back at the woods. He reaches up, grabbing the small wooden symbol before he speaks softly.
"Go raibh maith agat as do chuid físeanna, le do thástáil, foráil do cheachtanna. Síocháin daoibh!, Biotáille na coillte."
Sylvan:
"Thank you for your visions, your tests, and your lessons. Peace be with you, spirits of the woods."
After the battle, Baradim will take the time to wander through the ruins but not go and explore where the party has not yet been to. There were still dangers here after all, the possibility of the monstrous spiders and other, darker things. His eyes seemed to marvel at the way the moss grew upon the walls, how nature always seemed to come back and reclaim what had been lost. That terrible vision still remained upon his mind but as he thought of it more, it became more and more foolish.
No forest was ever truly gone, even the homes that the great and industrious dwarves had built would one day return to the earth from whence they were carved. All things returned to the spirits, returned to the elements, and would be made anew. It was perhaps this thought and the whisper of something else that only he seemed to hear as he smiled, looking up into the sky.
Returning with the others, Kanga loping behind with an almost grin upon his face, he would nod and look down at the mushrooms that were there.
"Truthfully, you would be surprised how much tea can be made from a few things. Let us scrape up what we can and begin our way back. I will begin readying out path back."
Grabbing his platinum, he would see Dolok leave behind something equivalent and chuckle to himself. He'd grab his portion of coin and gesture to Illiam for the other 14, looking back at the others.
"We should take these spare coins back, a platinum will be able to keep a family alive should their breadwinner be too sick to work...or already taken by the plague." He would wait for what the others thought of his idea. There would be orphans to feed and clothe, the impaired and sick unable to work and earn their coin to feed their families. It was up to them to help take care of the weaker members of the tribe, to ensure that they had the chance to grow strong again.
Going with whatever the group decided with, he would first take a moment to stop by the dead wolves, kneeling down upon one knee and simply putting a hand upon their cooling bodies. They were simply defending their home from intruders, protecting what was theirs. If he had been better trained, perhaps he could've minimized the loss of life. Alas, he had his own home to think of, and he would rise up again to make headway for the path they'd be taking to the river.
"Let's go, quickly now!" Baradim would call out once they were all gathered, guiding them to the road and moving quickly down the way towards the river. The heaviness of his water-soaked clothing made his body ache in protest but a grin had formed upon the half-orc's face. They were close to saving Falcon's Hollow, they were so close to success.
Hey folks! Sorry I have been quiet, I've been all kind of sick with something awful. Maybe the Flu-Lite? I don't know. I'll have Baradim updated to lvl. 2 soon and post soon as well.
@Stormstrider - I know I have been super quiet on the other campaign for the same reason. I do have my warpriest done, if you still are willing to let me in to play. Let me know at your earliest convenience. <3
I'm sorry, I must've thought you guys went. Teaches me for posting while having a headache. That is something I will do then when my turn comes up.
Baradim curses as his strikes miss, the wolf evading his attacks and Kanga's savage bite. Manuevering back, he steps in through the doorway alongside Lunarinus and begins to chant in Sylvan.
"Fiacla cosúil le lanna. Tairní cosúil le claimhte."
5ft. Step out of threatened space. Casting Magic Fang on Kanga. Lasts one minute.
[spoiler=Sylvan]"Teeth like blades. Nails like swords."
The prayer seems to echo through the air, like more than one voice speaks with Baradim, and the fangs and claws of Kanga seem to shimmer like steel. With a quick command, Kanga moves in behind the wolf and slashes fiercely at it and tries to clear the way for Goruck to fight.
5ft step for Kanga into flanking, full attack
Kanga's Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
1st Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
2nd Claw: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
