Realizing she'd been having a pretty serious conversation with a total stranger she laughs with the sound of water running over bells. "Oh, just Alina if you please." Her mind wanders about while walking, Passes the time better, it does! When she sees a lone figure on the side of the road, her attention is brought back, front and center. She whispers to her companions, "Careful. He may be a spotter for an ambush/ Her caution seems overblown when she hears the half drunk man ask for directions. "Could be worse; he could know exactly where he is and have no issues with his state. Praise Cayden, eh Friend?"
Alina's character sheet is up in the profile. Her background has a foundation giving her motive, but the details are left less than firm on purpose. The character sheet will see some adjusting in the equipment section as I decide exactly what she has on her (and she still has a bundle of cash, too ;)
Alina reacts to Teva's home-sickness with a jibe, "Come now, what family wouldn't want a lummox like you to help out around the house?" She barely frowns as she thinks again on what Teva is saying. "Oh, maybe you are right. Home is where you make it is all I mean to say." "Will I go into the Hold? Mayhap. Depends where the road takes me. I don't want to go into that swarming mass of ugliness. Too many tusks, too few brains." She traces her delicate finger along the shaft of her bow, implying that she can fix the former if not the later. "But back to you! You seem like you're really out of place... " That DC12 Perception check? Yeah, take ten ;) "and that's fine. But if you find you need a more mobile home, I don't care a whit about how you got where you are this day, this moment." She offers the woman a smile, welcoming and sincere.
*(Having been with the group on foot since earlier that day...)* The elf woman nods to the not-too-tall (for an elf) but way-too-broad (for an elf) woman as she explains her humble beginnings. "I can respect a wish for privacy." She inclines her head and asks, "Since you are not really from this Stead, do you plan on staying? Oh, why am I asking? I don't have any desire to stop my wandering in this place, and it's hard out there with the orcs and all." With a broad smile she adds, "If it weren't for an ambush by those pesky orcs, I would've just ridden past this metropolis. But it seems someone, Calistria maybe, wants me to enjoy this bit of humble pie." She gestures broadly at their surroundings, "Too much to pass on, though. Unless you are passing from horseback and quickly, too." Drivers!:
Alina wants nothing to do with responsibility. Family may as well be a curse word to her. Or is it. Sometimes torn between her selfish desire to be unfettered and the guilt of her final conversation with her father, she chooses the path of least resistance: Escapism. Her world is to be explored and savored. Her faith is a healthy mix of Calistrian and Cayden-ite. Not as brazen as some, but in it for the thrills to say the least. Arwyll Stead?:
Never heard of it. Was passing through on my way to... well, a dear friend was headed this way and I got on his trail and followed him. No, I didn't lose him. I just got ahead of him is all. What? He might have turned and gone somewhere else? Mayhap. Until we know, let's celebrate this fine eve. PbP XP:
Some. I got my start in late '12 with Jelani's Carrion Crown; I tried to GM some of my own as an extension of our TT games, but my players prefer face to face and found it hard to get into the *writing* aspect I would not say I am a newcomer; nor am I the grizzled gorgnard :) (Also, I have an alt in Mott's Kingmaker (Katerina the Maid) Oddr, maybe you were walking into town with some other pedestrians? ;)

A bitter taste rises in Alina's mouth. She fumes quietly while the beautiful, talented, captivating Yasmin dances without a care in the world with Reinald. Stupid Kelishite cow! The elf looks away before she gets too upset. It's not her fault, she was born to dance... and father taught me a different dance. But that voice! Alina looks at her gloved hands and frowns. When Reinald has returned to his seat, and apologizes to Yasmin she snaps, [b]Oh, I am sure she has had more than her toes stepped on by more than just you, Reinie! Yasmin, I hope you don't mind :) Alina is a bit jealous *especially* if a young lady is so aggressively charming! Poor Alina was taught more sword-play than dancing and airs...

Sensing Reinald's hard truths, Alina leans close and whispers in his ear,
For Reinald:
"Sometimes family hurts more than we can bear. Better to choose friends closer than blood" The elf girl sets her chair a touch closer to the Taldan sailor and says, You were right about the curry. But I am still not sure it was goat."

Alina sees Reinald scanning the room. "Good thinking, Reinie. I'll be right back." Alina stands up, and makes her way to what passes for a privy in this depraved place. She doesn't enter, rather she turns around and makes her way back to the table, by way of the bar. The whole time she is keeping her eye on the crowd, looking for anyone that may wish the eager drinkers harm.

To Thorn, "I am from the Elven kingdom, but glad to be here at least for now." Alina jumps slightly at the *pop* of Eloise's pillow and giggles at Sunny's mouse scream. "It's ok, Ajani, I am sure we have more surprises from Port Peril than either water spray or tails of pranks"

Applauding the Taldan's song Alina wonders if she should try her voice. The devil girl did it! What can happen, I make a fool of myself with a crowd of drunks? Ah, no. Grace is my sister's gift. Better to enjoy these other songs. Even for her thoughts Alina maintains a smiling face, working to ignore her family's call. To the Halfling, "Please dear troubadour, another!"

Answering Sunny, Alina says, "I am from Kyonin. I have spent some months 'board ships, and that has left me docked here in Port Peril." Changing the subject, the archer says, "More interesting is where we are going, or even where are we now?" She raises her eyebrow as if expecting a response. However, the poor tiefling's horrid rendition of a ballad gains her attention. The devil girl is fearless if not talented! Alina finds the thread of rythym and begins clapping along, and joins in the chorus as well,
When Eloise finishes her song, Alina applauds and smiles politely at the slightly embarassed Tiefling. "Marvelous!" Raising a toast, she adds, "To courage."

Alina applauds Pari's singing, laughing at the poor drunkard that is so clearly getting the short end of his crewmate's humor. Enjoying her drink and her meal as best she can, "Reinie, are you sure this is goat and not some poor drunken sailor's missing hand?"
I have had a subscription to the APs since the end of Serpent's Skull. I have only read through Carrion Crown, I suppose as Mez is a sucker for winter, I am a sucker for horror! lol From what I understand of Skull & Shackles it can be more sandbox-style than the other AP (except Kingmaker, of course :) ) For me the hardest part was putting up a character I like that would also be comfortable in a pirates and shipboard quest.

Grinning with amusement at Sunny's, well, sunny disposition, Alina tries to impersonate a sloppy human mouth trying to speak delicate elvish words, "Leerdelean alloaen delneertha!" Knowing it sounds like gibberish, she laughs at her own joke. Looking at the new acquaintances, Alina simply nods and gestures to a chair. "Yes, it seems that we are magnets set to each other in this sea of thû Elvish: . With a languid stretch, she says, "I am called Alina, and other than Sunny and Pari, who else is here?" Alina points to the others as she says their names.
stench While she speaks her eyes scan the gathered folks, looking for clues such as weathered skin, rough hands, soft features of easy living. It would be good to know what type of folks I am here with For her part, Alina is dressed in an odd assortment of fashions; a Chelish officers coat in dark blue with silver buttons, loose trousers tucked in to knee high black boots. Her hair, the color of ripe wheat is braided into two long braids that drape off of her neck and most of the way down her back. She wears black gloves of soft calfskin, folded back over before her sleeve's cuffs. Wrapped around her shoulders is a Varisian scarf of bright yellow silk with fanciful whorls of green and gold. Her sash, worn over her mail shirt is of the same material. The only distinctly Elvish thing she is wearing is a set of silver waterfall rings tied into one of her braids. I hope that helps paint her bit better ;)

Though still smiling, Alina seems almost furtive in her reply to Sunny, Elvish: Switching back to common, "Yes please, have a seat." Alina drops her feet back to the floor to make room for hte new arrivals. "I am Alina, I am pleased to meet you as well. Do you prefer to be called by your name, or a moniker?" Alina's diction is near perfect, Kyonin native to be sure, probably a prominent family.

Alina nudges her ad hoc companion's arm and nods to the peg-legged Pharasman, "Now there is a story waiting to be told! Let's go meet her." Alina saunters over to the woman's table tankard in hand. She easily sidesteps rowdy patrons, deftly moving away from one's careless waving mutton leg. She grins, appreciating the temperamental and capricious nature of the tavern. Once at the table she takes a chair and sits down, turns and kicks her feet up onto the table. "I am Alina, archer and erstwhile marine. Assuming I can find work." Her face is aglow with the crowded warmth of the room, her eyes flitting from point to point as she talks. She pauses, waiting for the other woman to speak.
@ Cap'n Fox... third trait: River Sniper. (from Pirates of the Inner Sea) Reskinning wrote: Rigging Sniper: Unlike most marines, you’re used to fighting most of your boarding actions at bow range, and understand the value of a well-placed arrow. When on the deck of a waterborne vessel, you gain a +1 trait bonus on attacks with ranged weapons. Is this ok for you?

Alina listens to the Taldan's commentary before leaning close to whisper, "Didn't you know all Elves were maids?" She smiles before adding, "Not that you seem to mind." Before he can reply, she leans back and takes another sip of her lager, her deep blue eyes staying on the gentleman next to her.

Walking the streets in this town is almost as dangerous as the taverns! Alina looks at some of the signs on the avenue, More alley, than boulevard, but this whole town is not a polite place The elf girl grins broadly as she picks one of the more outrageous pubs: The sign of a excessively busty wench leaning over a feather duster, defying gravity. Ensuring her purse is well secured under her deep blue velvet coat, she pushes her long blonde braids back of over her shoulder and opens the ill fitting doors. Assaulted by the riot of sound and smells, she thinks about how much this is not like home. Humanity, look with disdain if you must, but revel in their vitality! Alina takes only a bare moment to scan the room, and seeing a stunning array of people, some arguing, most drinking, and a Wine-haired gnome girl singing an appropriate tune. The elf-girl speaks with a lilting voice, "Good eve, fine folk!" Without waiting for a reply she sidles up to the bar, brushing past a skunk of a man shouting at a halfling. At the bar, she orders a pint of lager, and sets a single gold on the bar. Winking at the dwarf, "I trust that is enough to start a tab?" Not wishing to leave her equipment out of sight in this town, a den of iniquity, Alina carries her equipment with her. This does double duty, as she is also advertising her desire to sign on to a ship as a marine! |
