Adrien remains behind front lines, particularly he tries to be adjacent to Ozymandias as much as possible. If an enemy starts or moves next to him, he takes a 5-foot step/withdraws at the first opportunity. If Ozymandias takes a significant amount of damage, he'll heal him with a spell. If a fight looks tough, he will cast Mage Armor on Ozzy.

Ozymandias should hit things, and hit them hard. He prioritizes enemies that are closest to Adrien, but if Adrien is safe he will assist whatever party member looks to need the most help. If no one seems to be in danger, he'll simply attack whatever looks the nastiest.

Hey all, this upcoming week is my final week of classes for my senior year of college, so posting may be a little sparse (or non-existant, really) until Saturday or so. I will do my best to keep posting and I will at the very least be reading what happens, so I'll be caught up, but I may not be too active. If I find free time (unlikely) I will post in when I can. Otherwise, expect to not see me unless I'm lucky.

Adrien stifles a shot as one of the beetles erupts next to him, and scrambles to get away from it before it can attack him.

Taking the withdraw action, moving behind Valeria.

There is a join link you can find if you go to main page of the campaign. You can click 'invite players' and then post the link.

"It looks like it, yes. I'll have to check to make sure, but I think we've disabled it." Adrien walks up to the machine slowly, with Ozymandias not for behind. He pokes at it once with his stick, then takes a step back. "You've nothing to fear, it's not working anymore."

"No one came back? That's... a little troubling, but I suppose that's why you're offering a reward. It seems maybe we should go speak with Khonnir's daughter before we head out, just to see if there's anything she can tell us about his first trip into the caves. Then we can see this Father Kyte and make our way underground." Adrien seems pretty pleased with himself, almost heading to the door before he catches himself. "Sorry, does that plan sound alright to the rest of you? I don't mean to overstep my bounds, I just... well, to be honest, I really just want to take a crack at the caves."

Thanks!

Like I said, not a huge deal, I'm just so used to that formatting that not seeing it is a little wonky.

Hey GM, it's not a huge deal, but would you mind bolding where characters are speaking? It's just the formatting I'm used to on the boards and it makes it a little hard for me to follow on occasion. It'd just make it a bit easier on me when I'm looking at your posts and stuff.

"I don't think there are any ratfolk on the council, no... but I don't know much of them. Either way, we ought to go talk with them before we start exploring. Shall we?" Adrien waves the others after him when he heads off to the Town Hall. "We can talk with Val after we speak with them about the others who ventured into the caves."

"Sorry, I'm the only one who can work on him. I don't mean that like you're not allowed, but I'm... actually the only one. I found him some years ago, and he's magically bound to me. I'm not actually sure how it works, to be honest."

"I'm not certain, but I believe they're below Black Hill. Perhaps we could ask Khonnir's daughter? She might know more than we do."

Harrash, you're probably gonna be suspiciuous of Adrien's seven-foot (and change) tall robot friend, too. Adrien usually has him out at all times, so he's likely hanging around.

"Well, to be honest I was interested in exploring the caverns beneath Torch before all of this had happened. It's why I came here in the first place," Adrien said, one hand holding his heavy walking stick. He looks pitifully frail compared to the others, his arms thin and spindly while the rest of his body firmly resembles a stick. "However, once I'd arrived I heard about this... incident, I suppose you could say. I figured if I could be of service, I might as well do my best to help while I went exploring." Adrien sighs and rests a hand on the massive automaton behind him. "It's been a long journey, I must say. Oh, and I'd forgotten my manners. My name is Adrien, and this is Ozymandias." Adrien gives the eidolon a nudge with his elbow, rubbing it gently after it collides with the metal. "Go on. Introduce yourself."

Adrien can probably handle Dungeoneering, if you want to swap for Religion.

Also, as far as natural attacks go Ozymandias will be grabbing an additional set of limbs for his claw attacks. At the moment I plan to have him end up with a slam, two claws, and the tentacle mass. I could technically get four claw attacks by attaching them to his feet, but that's not really what I'm after. I may poke around at getting another attack or two somewhere in the future, but especially considering Ozy will be benefiting from Haste once I get the ability to cast it I'm not super worried about it. We'll see how my evolution points end up panning out in the long run.

Alright, cool. Inevitable eidolons are so perfect thematically for Iron Gods but without a few tweaks they're... kinda crappy. I'll stick with that idea, then.

Just as a heads up, they appear to be fixed.

That sucks about the car, I did something similar last summer. I passed out behind the wheel and rammed my car into the guardrail on the side of an overpass.

As for Adrien, he's definitely not intended to get anywhere near combat if he can help it. Ozymandias is intended to get up close and personal instead. However, how we develops in the future depends a bit on the GM. Would you allow him to take the Tentacle Mass/Tentacle and Claws evolution despite them not being available to his eidolon type? I see no reason why a robot can't have claws, and I imagined the tentacles as being something like pnuematically launched cables that he used to grapple enemies. Ozy was originally intended in the first game I played this character in to function as not only damage but battlefield control; he would take the Grab, Reach and Pull evolutions with the tentacles and Push with the Slam along with increased size to be able to move creatures around the field. If that won't work for you I'll need to think out a different plan for him going forward.

Also, are you alright with the Half-elf FCB that grants extra evolution points?

EDIT: Also, Adrien is only really good at Diplomacy and I plan to leave it that way. I mostly took that via trait so that he'd have something to use his high Charisma with.

Hey, thanks for the pick!

Do you anticipate having a Discussion thread up before that, or no?

Hey GM, I saw you closed recruitment and just wanted to re-affirm my interest since I hadn't posted here in a while. Didn't want to get passed over or anything because I hadn't checked in. Adrien was already built to your specifications so he should be ready to go if selected. As Darian said, we were in a game together when the GM disappeared from the boards. I would love to take another crack at Iron Gods, as I've only ever gotten a few rooms into tue caverns below Torch.

Hmm, that's fine on the extra evolutions. Ozzy was originally going to be built as a battlefield control Eidolon who specialized in using the Tentacle evolution with Grab/Pull and Push with his slam to move people around the battlefield, but obviously I'll have to amend that somewhat. I suppose I could have him just focus on the slam and maybe pick up proficiency with some kind of advanced weapon once we're high enough level to have access to them... eh, I can deal with that if I'm selected and we get there.

Threw this character up in another recruitment, but I'll put him in here. Are you using any Unchained rules (background skills in particular)? Also, this character is built as an Unchained Summoner; is this required, or could I theoretically use the original version? Also, would you be alright with allowing my eidolon access to some evolutions it normally can't if I use the Unchained version (really, I just want some other natural attacks). The Inevitable eidolon is kind of crappy mechanically but it works so perfectly for this character concept, but the only thing it gets access to is Slam which basically requires something like three evolution points per purchase since it can only apply to one set of limbs. I don't intend to take evolutions that I can't readily explain as making sense for my eidolon.

I can let you know the specific ones I'm interested in if that helps. I don't really want to upset any balance, I just want a fun RP element to also be mechanically viable.

This is Adrien Belmont, a summoner who arrived in Numeria years ago after having spent his childhood growing up in Brevoy learning of Numerian machines through scholarly books. While training as a mage he gave it up and ran away to Numeria and became an archaeologist. This obviously caused him some grief with the Technic League and on his first run-in with him they nearly killed him in the caves. He stumbled over an old rod and tried to use it to defend himself and accidentally awakened an ancient automaton (his eidolon) who's defensive programming kicked in and it killed Adrien's attackers brutally. Over the intervening years Adiren has been traveling with the robot, who he named Ozymandias, and has currently arrived in Torch.

One other note for everyone and this is to make sure you are comfortable with one thing for this game.

I will make a lot of my rolls visible but at times I will be rolling real dice in the real world and just letting you know what happened. I strongly believe the GM screen is an important tool for the storyteller. Dice reign supreme but I keep the option of rolling behind the electronic screen at times.

I know some of you GM on here. If you have found creative ways to accomplish this other then what I said, let me know.

I just put things behind a screen, but something a friend of mine does it make the base roll without the modifier attached in the spoiler. So if an enemy is rolling an attack or something, he rolls a flat d20 and adds modifiers afterward.

Awesome! I don't plan to do anything crazy with it, but having access to some other evolutions makes it a little easier to do more interesting builds than just "I hit things good".

Just double checked and it does look as if Adrien is up to your standards for character creation. Did you miss my question on allowing alternate eidolon evolutions? I don't intend to do it to be overpowered, I'm just hoping to pick up a few other abilities for my super fighting robot.

I believe Adrien Belmont should already be built to your specifications, but I'll double check. He's a Summoner whose eidolon is an ancient Numerian robot he found while exploring, which has now bonded to him. Would you be willing to allow my eidolon to take some of the evolutions not normally allowed to Inevitables (particularly certain natural attacks) if I gave a good in-game explanation of how he possesses them? Inevitable eidolons are great flavor-wise for Iron Gods, but they're kind of the worst choice mechanically as they can only ever get a slam. I can give my reasoning for them now if you want, or later on if you'd rather wait and see if you pick my submission at all.

Also, are you using Background skills?

I'll post in here, why not? Adrien is a summoner with an Inevtiable eidolon, who is flavored as a long-lost piece of Numerian machinery.

I believe I was once in a recruitment with something like forty applicants? This one's close, though.

Ah, okay! I was a little confused, but thanks for the clarification. I'm gonna change that real quick but other than that Adrien and Ozzy are good to go.

GM, I'm not sure what you mean? I believe that option for Summoners is presented in the Advanced Race Guide, and as far as I know by the books it's legal to take? I just know my last GM for this requested I didn't take it, so I wanted to ask. For convenience's sake I kept Adrien as a Human for now. If I could get clarification, I'd appreciate it. If I am selected and you are okay with that favored class bonus, I'll likely rebuild him as a half-elf.

Quick question as I update Adrien's sheet. Half-elves have a favored class option for the summoner that adds +1/4 of an evolution point every level, would you be okay with allowing it? He was originally built as a half-elf for that reason and I switched him to a human as the last game he was in disallowed that favored class bonus. If not, I'll likely leave him as a human this go-round.

Hi, this is a summoner from two past Iron Gods, both of which died from a GM disappearing. I'll have to look through everything for him and make sure that I'm up to snuff on your build rules, but you can still more or less see how he's going to be built. Adrien functions primarily as a support caster for his eidolon and the party, as well as being adept at understanding mechanics and such things. I'll post in as his eidolon as well so you can potentially look over him as well.

"We were invited, actually. I'm... not sure what exactly they wanted from us, though. I've never been here, but I'm presuming that man was the owner. Did he just want us to come gamble here, or something?" Adrien seems confused, but takes the voucher regardless. He shrugs, motioning for Ozzy to follow. "Still, if this is how he greets us... I suppose we ought to play along."

"The caves were... dangerous," Adrien says, before realizing the man hasn't paused for his answer. "Yes, of course, I'll find the tokens." He waits until the man leaves, before looking to the others. "I've got a bad feeling about this," he says, following Kayla and Preli towards the counter.

I mean, I'm not saying we SHOULDN'T.

Glad you're feeling better!!

Shady is a player in one of my games, and some of the others expressed the exact same sentiment. It's... remarkable how quick we are to apologize for that.

"Be careful, we don't want to lose you too," Adrien says to the burly Kellid man, patting the other man's shoulder as he turns to leave. "Something certainly isn't right here, though... hopefully we figure out what before Torch becomes a ghost town."

I wasn't sure if we were waiting on anything in particular, but I figured I'd try and get us moving in some direction or another.

Adrien watches with amusement as Iko speaks with the tiny centipede, but holds his tongue out of respect. "Well, if you're traveling with us, I'd suggest we head for Silverdisk Hall. We'll see what we can do about getting you ready for heading into the caves tomorrow after we're done there." Adrien gives a polite nod to Father Kyte, before waving the others after him. "Come, let's see what they need from us! The sooner we do that, the sooner we can check on Val and get some rest before we head out tomorrow."

"Good to meet you, Iko." Adrien finally stands completely under his own weight again, shoving himself off of Ozymandias after having taken it easy on the way into town. "It's unfortunate to hear that other androids have been disappearing, though... could it have something to do with whatever's put out the flame? Maybe something is interfering with their nanite circuitry, causing them to..." Adrien catches himself rambling again, and stops. "Never mind. Like I said, it's good to meet you. Perhaps you ought to come with us to Silverdisk Hall, if you're to be joining us in our excursions? Whatever we find there, it may be pertinent to our expedition."

"Hmm... no, I'm not sure what any of this is. We'll need to ask someone in town to appraise it; whatever it is, it's outside the realm of my admittedly limited expertise." Adrien sighs, handing the items back to Kayla before leaning on his eidolon again, trying not to over-exert himself. "Still, we have things to do in town. We have an invitation to Silverdisk Hall, for one. I have a feeling it'd be a bad idea to ignore that for too long."

As they head back into town for the evening, Adrien takes some time to attempt an identification of some of the technological things they found while down in the tunnels. "Here, let me," he says to Kayla, before taking them and turning them over in his hands.

Knowledge (Engineering): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

I have a feeling he's deeper inside," Adrien says, leaning heavily on Ozymandias's bulk. "Much like Darian said, we've seen many strange things. Robotic automatons, strange four-armed skeletons... we were caught in some sort of electrified trap. I'm afraid I'm not in terribly good shape. I could... use some assistance, if possible. If not, I'm not sure a night of rest would provide enough time to heal."

Adrien could keep the other two items, or give them to Ozzy to hold onto. If no one objects, it's fine with me.

Are we all in agreement then? Get some rest and then come back later?

"I think I'd rather head back," Adrien says, having moved from Darian's helping arm to Ozymandias. "I'm not sure how much longer I'd be able to stay down here if we had to. Not only might that spell run out, but... I don't feel very good. Perhaps a rest might help?" The summoner leans heavily on his eidolon, clearly needing the support. "That will give Ozymandias some time for self-repair as well, which is better for all of us. Perhaps tomorrow we can come back and deal with whatever we find here?"

I think... maybe we ought to head back," Adrien says between wheezes, his breathing ragged. "I don't... I don't think I can make it through before that electricity discharges again. We can probably disable it from that panel, but we're all a little hurt and if any of us get hit again, there's not a good way for us to get out of there."

Adrien crumples to the ground after the electrical shock ravages his body, and the young man appears to be barely able to stand. His eyes look quizzical for a moment as the panels numbers begin to flash in Androffan, but as the panel switches again his eyes go wide. "It's going to explode! Out, everybody out!" Adrien himself stumbles backwards out of the room as fast as he can, clutching his chest as he does so. "This whole room's going to collapse!" He grits his teeth as he drops to his knees once out of the room, gasping for breath. "It's... it's not safe!"

Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11

Adrien is at 0 HP and staggered.

"Perhaps we should go in?" Adrien suggests, eyeing the door curiously. "It doesn't seem to be guarded... perhaps you and someone a bit heartier should head in first," Adrien says to Kayla, before looking between Arkady, Ozzy, and Thum. "If there's one thing I've learned about these ruins, it's that you never know what'll be behind that door."

"Yes, it's very strange... I wonder where they might have come from? I'm... what species was that, I wonder? Certainly not anything I've ever heard of on Golarion." Adrien and Ozzy take up the rear, while Adrien inspects the wounds of his eidolon. "You ought to be alright for now... if any more show up, we'll need to patch you up."
