Intelligence Files: Code Crystal I Xov:
Interesting, files taken from Brelish intelligence indicate that he is a member of the Royal Eyes of Aundair... A new and so far seemingly competent player in the "great game", Xov is good and is a possible candidate for "uplifting". Must determine true loyalties and willingness to fight the "enemy" before attempted uplift can even commence... The Conservatives will not be happy about this... Othan:
Unsubtle, brutal and mercenary... There is a time and place for his methods and that time is fast approaching. Psionic ability is impressive, possible candidate for "uplifting". Politically the war hawks will naturally take him in, the conservatives will hate him... He should be easily motivated, once the "enemy" is defeated there will be much land and wealth to go around... Ebran:
Potentially a good asset, uplifting is unlikely but he should be easily swayed if offered "assistance" to ensure his survival within his House. Like Othan fortune will be this man's god and "we" can provide plenty of of it... Falko, Kirin: Unknown, further research into their pasts and observation of them is required. Both have dragonmarks however and this means that they could be vital assets, although Falko's mark may be more of a hindrance then it is helpful... My work within the house of Finding is too important to jeopardize by invoking the rivalry between the houses...

Absylon was pursuing the house of Finding for several reasons, one though is his believe that the Thranian mission has already begun in a sense. To Absylon the time they are in Sharn should be used to gather as much political support and favors as possible, by his reckoning the Thranians (being thickheaded zealots) will need some additional "oophm" to be convinced to give up Breland's territory willingly...

The psicrystal can find it and relay the findings to me, the real question we need to answer is the Pyramid's size and complexity... Let us all remember that the Dhakanni hobgoblins in the Last War possessed the ability to disable a moving fortress which now blocks up a pass between Darguun and Breland...

If that is your choice take a pleasure cruise near the museum where it is housed... My psicrystal can sneak in and has an operation range of 1 mile, no need to draw attention to ourselves. Just a few Heirs of the Kraken House out on a pleasure cruise, nothing amiss with that...

Absylon snorts at the suggestion you need to be friends with the highest of the high to "disappear" someone... My information regarding the gnome does say one thing, he is not an eager friend of House Kundarak. It seems his efforts to get out from under his former boss in that House led to his premature graying as such I doubt he is asking for protection from them. That only leaves House Sivis as a visible defender and "remove" does not necessarily mean death... If you have enough gold to spend, a psion can do psionic "modifications" to Hasphat's memory, a technique which I have unfortunately been unable to master much to chagrin... As for the Pyramid I can find it for you without having to put one foot inside the museum where it is housed... As Absylon speaks confidently of his abilities a purple psicrystal rises from his sleeve and onto the table. It begins to skitter to and fro around the table, as it changes colors like a peacock you would almost swear that the crystal is "preening"...

True but sometimes you need canon fodder and sometimes you simply need to be in two places at once... It also helps that the House of Finding is discreet and the fact is your House enjoys exceptionally good relations with Tharashk... A discount for favored allies isn't that hard to come by if you know how to swing your reputation around. Question of note, since we will be going to Thrane eventually want me to see if House Tharashk has any courier jobs? If you did such a service for free House Tharashk could be persuaded to bring it's political might to the negotiations. It never hurts to have allies that count trolls as shocktroops...

You may think of them as the House of Finding but they are also Deineth's number one rival. While they can't match the professionalism of Deineth mercs they can do things Deineth can't do. Like other "non respectable" services assassination, sabotage, theft etc... If your looking to hire mercs for anything just tell me, I can supply for the right price.

If I remember correctly Absylon got info on all of you from the Citadel... You may not have been fooled by Thrask but they were (or at least they aren't letting on). No information on this code, I researched the gnome to find some sort of weakness to exploit... Or barring extortion his place of residence, if the attempt to "copy" the Pyramid fails I can pull some strings within House Tharashk... I can arrange for the gnome to be kidnapped, interrogated and summarily "removed". I advise this only as a last resort however, that particular and in effect untraceable service is not good for the coin purse... Once the Pyramid is located and if it is not a giant, complex monstrosity of an artifact I will see about locating people who have the magic or psionic means to "copy" it. This service again won't be cheap but regardless we have to get that information out of the gnome somehow...

Nothing on the Aurum, say what you will concerning their practices they run a tight ship. I would advise you to remember something Mr. Eye, ever scrap of information is valuable. Personal details which you find trivial can be vitally important to the subject in question, out of all the varieties of blackmail none is more common nor as successful as cheating on one's spouse or lover. I may have several ways of getting you the information you seek, perhaps a way to duplicate this pyramid the gnome wants so badly that is not an illusion, gnomes are notoriously resistant to that particular school of magic alas...

Absylon is a "what works" individual... If the group's planned course of action works it works, if it doesn't work it doesn't work. Admittedly though Absylon's job is to gather information which he does and he'll deal with just about anyone: Doesn't matter whether your the Keeper of the Flame or a insane worshiper of the Dragon below he'll deal with you. By the same token Hasphat doesn't seem to be the path of least resistance which is what Absylon generally prefers taking... As a rule of thumb the less complicated it is to get the information the better, Absylon doesn't put stock in plans of world domination: Too many holes can be put through such a plan. As for alignment Absylon will never go "good", to Absylon good and evil are like drugs: Addictive and self destructive. By the same token he won't murder you unless that is the only option available to keep you silent, wipe your mind clean of his very existence that he will do however often and with enthusiasm once has the capability.

Absylon returns to the group wherever they be and focused on Xov's mind. Missive, Xov: Xov setup a link if you would, I have been unable to find information concerning the Aurum but I was able to dig up information on the uncooperative gnome... While I hate to admit it Othan's more violent methods may be the best way of getting the gnome to talk.

If you are unwilling to grant us what we seek for a reasonable price or favor then I am afraid we must depart. I can assure you that I will find the information I require one way or another... With that Absylon departs and will find Othan. Missive, Othan:
Unfortunately diplomacy has failed, the task the Gnome requires is simply too time consuming... If we are short of anything it is time, tell the others that I will pull every string I have in Sharn to get the information required. I will find you once I have acquired the information if it can be gotten... With that missive Absylon departs to perform several errands, Gather Information (banking practices, Aurum)1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15 Gather Information (concerning Hasphat his history, place of residence, connections and places of interest)1d20 + 12 ⇒ (11) + 12 = 23

Concentrating as the others speak Absylon deploys a flurry of mental missives to tell them to not ruin the game... Looking at the Gnome the calm and unflappable Absylon speaks, You would do well to give us the information we desire "free of charge". My Employer Thrask d'Tharashk can do many things for an ally, likewise he can make your life miserable. Choose. Bluff1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34 diplomacy1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30 Missive, Othan:
Look threatening but don't speak unless to threaten, your methods are effective in the field... This isn't the field, unfortunately. Missive, Xov:
Play along Xov, we don't have time to copy a bloody Pyramid... Missive, Falko:
Do as your friend Othan does. Missive, Ebran and Kirin: Play along here, even if you don't believe my Employer is who he says he is the Gnome doesn't have to know that.

Way I see it agents bearing letters of Authorization actully makes sense for the Dragonmarked Houses... Especially for the more "elderly" members of the Houses, when your this old, hobbling Denieth Baron do you really run aroud on House business all day when you have good young-ins available?

Absylon wouldn't mind an airship... Although if given a choice Absylon would prfer a spacious airship, more room from which to deploy mercs... Note GM, I have plans of going to House Tharask (I forget the exact name) as Absylon with a letter of authorization from "Thrask" to use the House's services on his behalf... When my character arrives at the "merc pit" I would like if possible for the mercs there to be determined by dice rolling, so that it feels like opening up a can of "mystery meat"... It's your choice whether or not to do that though...
