is that a dwarf using a light pick as his 'one-handed piercing weapon' for use with the duelist prestige class? (aside from the fact that he's using a punching dagger as a main-gauche in the other). that's even goofier than using a siangham.

I also love how the arcane trickster has a really dingy robe, which I think is a nod to the Arcane Trickster wannabe in Order of the Stick. I guess that guy finally got his levels.

THat is some seriously good artwork. I'm just sitting here now eagerly awaiting the mail on eof these days, so I can look at this. WOuld love to see minis of the wizard and constable!

Anyone else think that the Arcane Trickster looks kinda like a Sith?

Rules, schmools! It looks cool and if a player can make it work with his character description then I'm more than happy with it.

This book features one of the coolest looking Asmodean clerics I've seen in a long time.

(two actually, considering the art for one of clerics of Urgathoa totally has to actually be intended for Asmodeus)

Scottish Dwarves... I am a huge fan of Dwarves, but Scottish dwarves are one of the most laziest and boring tropes in fantasy and the trope has more than a whiff of cultural insensitivity and racist connotations.

It wont stop me buying it, but I am disappointed.

This may be nit-picking, but what in the Nine Hells is up with that constable? He looks like an utter fop. There is nothing tactical about his gear, and the beard is ridiculous. He needs to go home, shave his face, lose the cape and ridiculous hat, get better boots, and get some more weaponry. The other art is good, but this guy is a rube.

Yeah, the chief of police never gets dressed up to speak to the press or the mayor, he's always covered in dirt from walking a beat, with bloody fists from arresting stubborn thugs.

Actually, he's not a rube; he's just new at the job. Look at that hat and beard, he's the undertaker munchkin from the Wizard of Oz. Must have recently changed employment from mortician to constable, as there can't be that much of a market for pronouncing witches dead after houses fall on them...

So, he's the chief constable? This is a dress uniform?

I'm not saying he has to look like he just went ten rounds with Sandpoint's post wanted or anything. I'm just saying that, from my perspective, I don't buy him as a constable, especially if he's out executing that warrant he's got in his hand.

Actually, never mind... that art is of the Traitor, not the Constable on that page. The Constable is described as female, and uses a spear; the Traitor is described as mail and uses a mace. Apparently when this section was in layout, someone looked at the art (which had a description like "nice clothing, mace"), realized it better suited the Traitor than the Constable, and updated the text to refer to the art.

In any case, if the pictured character were the Constable, he'd be a high-ranking one, he's 9th level, and deserves a fancy outfit.

I actually like him just fine as a constable. Plenty of beefy dudes in history kicked ass and were heroic, and it's super rare in fantasy art, even the more realistic stuff. Male overweight foppish villains? Dime a dozen.

Well whatever he is, constable or traitor, my first thought was he looks like a corrupt official from a Robin Hood story. All looks great to me =) Can't wait to see what the madmen (and women?) at Paizo have come up with for this book. I mean, I remember looking at the Game Mastery guide and just loving those simple npc write ups/examples. Anyone else think SOMEBODY went waaaay out there for the write up on the Torturer though? I mean, its really detailed and well.....I would almost play it as is....if I was INTO that sort of thing mind you =)

While you may not get much on her in the way of text context, Ms. Pg. 48 makes the GMG Torturer look like a prude. :O
