Watch Paizo LIVE and Pathfinder: Sundered Waves Liveplay!

Friday, March 05, 2021

The first episode of Paizo LIVE premiered on Twitch, but it’s now available on YouTube! We had a great talking all things Pathfinder and Starfinder with:

  • Logan Bonner — Pathfinder Lead Designer
  • Ron Lundeen — Developer
  • Linda Zayas-Palmer — Organized Play Managing Developer
  • Joe Pasini — Starfinder Lead Designer
  • Jason Tondro — Developer
  • Lu Pellazar — Senior Editor
  • Luis Loza — Developer
A meshed image of Pathfinder Iconic Ezren the wizard and Starfinder Iseph the operator battling back to back with the Pathfinder, Paizo, and Starfinder logos over the top

Watch the video.

I want to thank each of them for their time, humor, and Paizo Live Spoilers. I also want to thank the Paizo Art Department, my coworkers who were moderating in Twitch Chat, and the technomancers behind the scenes.

We think it went well, presented a ton of information, and was a fun time. It looks like you did too, but tell us what you want more or less of for future episodes in the comments below. (I know I want more final cover and inside art, so I need to get my order in soon!)

Pathfinder Sundered Waves cast headshots

Don’t forget, the new Pathfinder: Sundered Waves liveplay adventure will air at the Gen Con Spring Showcase tomorrow, this Saturday, March 6 at 5 p.m. Pacific at twitch.tv/gencontv. The original cast of Troubles in Otari is returning for this special event and you don’t want to miss it!

Adventures Ahead!

Huzzah!
That episode was swell, and it was nice seeing/hearing you for the first time, Aaron!

I cannot stand watching all the live plays, so something like this is very much what I want to see more of. It is such a relief to finally have something like this again instead of live plays. There isn't anything wrong with live plays and I have tried watching several of them, but I physically cannot watch them - every time I try, no matter how fun, they literally put me to sleep. But, I love playing the game; I just can't watch it. I'm the same way with sports. Also, there are too many live plays on the channel for me; so, I end up watching none of them. Paizo needs more variety in its programming on its Twitch channel. So, this hit the spot.

This first episode was a good one, but I would like to hear more spoilers and see more art, especially cover art. In general, I want to learn more about upcoming products. Also, I like learning about what inspirations and influences go into the creative process behind the scenes for all products, both those that are on the horizon as well as those already published. In addition to new Paizo product information and interviews, perhaps we could see something about the Kingmaker stuff coming out? I invested a lot into that project and it would be nice to see something more about it or see an interview with the creatives working on it.

2E piracy adventures! Can't wait to stream this! Hopefully! Hopefully we get some more Shackles content in Lost Omens before long.

Paizo Live was really fun! I was thinking, since Live airs around the same time that the online store announces new things by launching new product pages, maybe those reveals could happen over the show?

Next month's round of reveals should introduce Starfinder's November release, for example (assuming it isn't shown at the Spring showcase). And I know I can't be the only one excited about Paizo's monthly flip-tiles set announcement. :p

Whatever the case, awesome stuff all around. Really nice to see the faces behind these works more often. Good days to be a Paizo fan.

Thank you for providing it on YouTube!

I really enjoyed seeing Paizo Live on Friday again. I really loved those kinds of inside baseball conversations with the developers and the people who are combing through playtest data. I think that the format was a little long, since you were having to cover all the product lines and organized play. It was A LOT to take in, and I don't feel like people got enough time to really get into their products.

Maybe revisit the 1 hour format with a more focused discussion on one of the products or product lines like you all used to do. I never did get to watch them in the moment, work schedule being what it is, but I would replay the twitch stream on Saturday morning while I ate breakfast and would getting hyped about new products and playtest data. Yes, I'm a data nerd so hearing Mark Seifter and Jason Bulmahn go through playtest feedback was fascinating. I'd like to get a deeper dive into the Guns and Gears / Secrets of Magic playtest info in one of those hour long conversations. I will also absolutely watch every Lost Omens segment with Luis and Eleanor.

Thanks! We think two hours, once a month is all we have time. So I think it will always be A LOT to take in and a 30,000 foot look. It is great that you want to dive deeper. That is what PaizoCon, GenCon, and interviews with folks like Know Direction will be used for.

Thanks! Nice to be seen and heard. I've spent 30+ years in the performing arts, so I've been in the spotlight plenty. I love to shine it on my coworkers now.

It is important to have something for all, right? More art, yes. More spoilers? One per guest sounds right, but the line between teaser and spoiler can be soooo thin. :) We are saving some topics for PaizoCon, aka Kingmaker. But interviews with folks whose piece of the puzzle is already done? Maybe....

Liberty's Edge

Really enjoyed Paizo Live! I have a question to put in for next month: can someone talk more about how Strength of Thousands plans to integrate non-caster classes like fighters or investigators? Are we talking about the first AP that assumes the use of the free archetype option, or is there something else going on?
