So we still don't have a consensus on what to do NEXT. Everyone is saying leave immediately and sell the case of Yaro berries... which is two things. There really isn't a ebay or facebook marketplace on this backwater world. You would have to either go into the market and try to find a buyer... or place a classified ad and wait for someone to reply... which may move forward the spoilage factor. I'm just going to make a decision randomly and move forward from there. Herding cats:-)

The group agrees to let Dosheen place a "for sale" ad on the local infosphere and receives a response in the early evening. This delays the departure by about (6) hours... but the group is able to get 300 credits for the berries to a wedding reception in need of instant delivery. After delivering and collecting the credits (And congratulating the bride and groom) the group is finally ready to leave around 8:00 PM.

As the group readies to depart Dosheen is busy leaving a review on the classified when he comes across a breaking news report.

A photo appears on the screen of your recent vendor and as Dosheen turns up the volume he catches the narration. Khulans find and execute her for extortion and murder.

He then puts the orb away and watches the view of Akiton getting smaller on the vid screen before the ship switches over to driftspace.

If Ichihara Holdings really IS a front for the Golden League like you said, then maybe Ainsley was less a businesswoman and more a "legitimate businesswoman" they sent to establish a racket there. Then the question becomes whether Ainsley just got cocky and bit off more than she could chew...or her bosses sent her there without warning her about how the khulans operate, knowing they'd kill her when she began doing ostensibly what they wanted her to do. The story continues after a brief commercial on Reed's bubblegum cigars. A photo of a middle age human woman is projected on the screen with the name Siska captioned at the bottom. "The corpse of Siska a well-loved local business owner was uncovered a few Kilometers our of town by one of our Khulan investigators".

Makaleku plots a course to the drift assisted by Dosheen, and the craft departs without a hitch. A couple of hours later the craft enters the drift for the journey to Absalom Station.

The first 3 days of the journey go off without a hitch, but on the "D" watch of Day 3 (N'than) notices something.

As the crew travels through the Drift back to Absalom Station, BD514 becomes plagued by odd occurrences: computer panels flicker, overhead lights blink on and off, and the power core experiences strange fluctuations.

A PC who succeeds at a DC 16 Engineering check identifies the source of the strange fluctuations as something on the outside of the starship that is draining its power.

a PC who succeeds at a DC 14 Life Science check realizes the creatures are likely Drift leeches, small magical beasts that can absorb power and disrupt technological systems. They will feed on the starship’s power core until it is drained of all power.

The news of Siska's fate (with the strong implication that the Golden League had murdered her to take over her business) sours Vegoia's mood even further. "Well...that clears up everything, then. Gonna have to ask Tarika if Siska had any family. Send 'em our condolences. The mental image of a khulan investigator's kinda funny, though. They don't wear clothes, if I remember correctly, but now I'm imagining one in a trenchcoat with a fedora..."

She's bustling around the galley during the shift when notified something's up, and quickly gathers the others.

"This is out of my specific wheelhouse, so I'd welcome any insight you guys have as to what the heck's going on! This run's been rough enough I don't wanna add "getting stranded in the Drift" on top of that!"

Translation: I'm not trained in any of the skills that will help here. :P

He then turns around and addresses the others on watch. "I'm afraid some of us are going to have to go out there and physically remove them... before they drain too much power".

NOTE: The armor worn by the PCs includes boots that allow them to anchor themselves to the ship’s hull in zero-gravity, and the armor’s environmental protections will keep them temporarily safe from the vacuum of space.

So I'm assuming you're readying to use the Aid action as a reaction. If you look at the description for Aid it is only for an attack or skill check... so really doesn't work to help with AC. Also, you need to be a little more specific on how the AID would work with an attack. You need to pick who you're aiding, and if you're helping them attack.

Makaleku Strides forward and attempts to punch the nearest leech almost forgetting he has a helmet on and can't bite. His brief hesitance causes him to miss his target.

The last sentence of the Aid reaction is "The GM can add any relevant traits to your preparatory action or to your Aid reaction depending on the situation, or even allow you to Aid checks other than skill checks and attack rolls."

To clarify what I was referring to above...to give them a heads up on the creatures approaching them they have not spotted yet...i.e. preventing them from being caught off-guard to an attack. As Aid is used to to create circumstances that have the possibility to aid someone else, which typically gives a circumstance numerical bonus to a die roll, I am attempting to use the Aid action in a way that affects the circumstance but affects things in a non-die roll adjustment circumstance assist. i.e. "There's a bogey on your six!" to decrease the chance of a foe sneaking up on them.

As Dosheen went out last and they are moving forward, it will be Dosheen I am attempting to aid in case one of the creatures is approaching him.

Possibly the best way to apply it to a die roll is giving circumstance bonus (on a successful Aid) check is to passive Perception check to notice additional creatures approaching.

Even though it looks like I moved Dosheen-45 back inside the ship, he's on the hull. I'm enjoying imagining this map as a 3D ship.

Dosheen-45 appreciates the magnetic ability of his boots to make walking across the hull so easy. The sensors in the boots adjust the magnetic force to mimic a natural walking stride. He raises his pistol and takes a moment to aim at the drift leach Makaleku and Vegoia are fighting.

After both Makaleku and Dosheen fail to hit the energy sucking leech, Vegoia is able to completely obliterate the Drift leach in Front of Makaleku as if flies off the side of the vessel.

Cook runs to the Hatch and beings suiting up to help outside the ship.

Since your first attack killed the Leech you still have an action remaining. Also, using your fists is agile so the second attack is at Minus 4 not minus 5

I'm assuming you're using your special Aim ability... but not sure where the 1d6 is coming from... and not sure if you have something that makes your punch lethal instead of non-lethal?

Vegoia: Steps up carefully on the metal hull the unusual background of the Drift causing her to take extra time, then stops short... but her arms don't as they seem to stretch out and swing at the curious Leach. The creature is as surprised as the extra-long arms make contact and end its existence with one blow. Vegoia's second blow fails to make contact... but the first one accomplished the job.

Drift Leach 3 and 4 maintain their positions and continue to suck energy from the ship. for just a moment the lights flash before aux. power is redirected and they return to maximum brightness. Marcellus gets an alert on screen that the restroom fans, and the arcade games have been disabled due to an unexpected power drain.

Also posted the following in recruitment, to be sure everyone sees it.

For ship roles, magic officer is the best fit for Marcellus (being a out-of-time witchwarper), with chief mate being the second best fit (giving he grew up in Sandpoint just before Rise of the Runelords AP events started to happen, so he the tech of the far-flung future is something he did not grow up with having familiarity with).

As for the third-best fit for Marcellus, pilot or gunner would make better fits than engineer or science officer, as he could more easily learn how to fly or shoot, as opposed to the years of study to be an engieer or scientist.

Between pilot and gunner, pilot would align with his outlook more than gunner.

Leaning right now to the "Golden Parachute" or "Kalistocrat Childhood" or "Mine Collapse" concepts, however (to clarify, these wouldn't be one person who could be slotted into any of those three, they're three different concepts I'd pick one from).

A couple of notes about how I run things in PbP for Pathfinder 2e...

1. Since Surprise rounds are almost unheard of in PF2e you will not be allowed to have your weapon out before combat for free. I've lost multiple players over this, but I enforce it because none of the adversaries have their weapons out either, and I don't want to change all their actions before combat. I've loosened up a bit on taking potions etc before entering an encounter... but the no weapons ready is set in stone. If you want to have a weapon out without spending an action, take "Quick Draw".

2. I'm a big fan of "Secret checks" but it slows things down tremendously in PbP so I'm okay for everyone to roll all their checks. If this becomes a metagaming problem. (Oh! he rolled a one so I'm going to check for traps as well), then we'll address it at the time. Exploration actions should take care of who rolls when, so be sure to tell me if you've changed up your exploration activity during play.

3. I'll roll initiative for everyone to speed things up.

4. I reward Hero Points more often for playing your characters quirks and personality than anything so fire up those cool out of encounter mode ideas.

5. I struggle a bit with social encounters because by rule most of these take 10-minutes. There are feats to reduce that time, so I don't want to handicap those willing to spend a feat to allow quick interjection... so we'll work together to RP these. In the past I've just rolled initiative for both social and combat encounters to allow those who'd like to try to talk their way out of situations a chance to do so before the bullets start flying.

6. For those of you unfamiliar with Owl Bear Rodeo, it's a simple VTT that you don't have to purchase to use. I will send a link to the campaign when ready and as long as you don't use a different device or clear your cookies it will remember where you are when you go back. Please find an image you'd like to use for your token, and I'll make the tokens and add them to OBR. In the past I made a Discord group for out of character sharing of stuff. Let me know if this would make things easier and I can do the same here. I can also share my DemiPlane subscription with those interested, but I'd like to wait a couple of sessions to make sure we're continuing as these shares are a limited resource.

I'll add more as I think of them, then summarize these in the Campaign thread.

Solely in case you aren't familiar and for the sake of clarity, Solarian has a handy class feature that allows them to manifest their weapons upon rolling initiative.

Speaking of Solarian, I'm leaning towards that class given we have magic, muscle and mischief covered to varying degrees, and I think I'm gonna lock into the "Golden Parachute" concept. Just have to decide on their ancestry and whether their relationship with Sinjin was just partners-in-crime or partners-in-crime, if you know what I'm sayin'. ;)

Just posted a link to Starbuilder 2d character generator. There is a free version... but I recommend upgrading to the paid version. It's only like a one-time fee of $5.00 or so, and well worth it for both Pathfinder and Starfinder.

@GM: which year is the campaign starting in? using the Starfinder equivalent of our current year (2026) or the year the Fly Free or Die AP was published (late 2020)?

I ask as I am working with Marcellus arrived in the future during the launch year of Starfinder 1E (2017)...so want to know if Marcellus has been in the future for 3 years or 9 years so far...as it will impact Part 2 of his character backstory (which starts with him 'popping' into 'existence' in Jatembe Park in Absalom Station and the first being he encoutered was the linked NPC to his AP background, the brenneri Tarika (and her daughter).

As he will not share a language with her yet, going to work in her daughter was climbing a tree and fell, and Marcellus saved her before she hit the ground. Grateful to the stranger, who is speaking a language she does not understand, she helped Marcellus out, including finding someone who could comprehend what he was saying....and from there will expand Part 2 of his character background story, after if Marcellus has been in the 'future' for 3 years (making him, biologically speaking, 32 years old) or nine years (making him biologically 38 years old).

He was 18 when Heather was killed in his reality, and in the alternate reality they were married when he was 18 and Heather gave birth to the twins when Marcellus was 19.

I still have to purchase gear, finish Part 2 of his character backstory (and fill out any other details on the notes section of his starbuilder character sheet).

One of the languages he will have for his bonus languages will be the brenneri native tongue (so he can communicate with the first two beings he met and befriended upon first arriving in the future: Tarika and her daughter.

If it is okay, I would like to tweak the specifics of the New Hire PG background to better work in his connection to when Tarika got him a job with 'the company'. He reveres Desna and being a 'traveller from a different time' the church of Desna took him in and provided him room and board as they taught him some of the languages of the future. He kept in touch with Tarika during this time (will have more specific details when I type up Part 2 of his character background), and when the priests fell confident that Marcellus was fully capable and knowledgeable about the new time he has found himself in, he chose to stay on as a hired hand at the church, and a few years later when a sense of wanderlust was starting to get stronger and he mentioned it to Tarika, she offered to get him a job at the company so he could start 'exploring the stars'.

It's Lore(Cooking), though I suppose if you want to be specific, it'd be Lore (Baking). And no worries, a good kitchen has two cooks to feed a hungry crew.

If I come across any such pics, I will provide a link.

Since you have already been looking and have not found any, maybe save a picture of Scruffy from Futurama (or some other non-android character that looks similar to how you envision Cookie) and then edit him in picture editor to add in some android circuit lines?

If going with the alternate option above: looking on IMDB and browsing pictures for pirate movies might be one of the ways to weight the odds to find a picture of a cast member who you find might be a picture that captures how you envision him (sans android circuit lines).

Another option is to use Hero Forge and to create a model and then take screen shots of him.

I am going to take the next few minutes create a basic starting old scruffy-looking android character on HF for you, then post the link for it, so you can edit further (clothing, gear, coloring.

If you go the HF route, adjust the non-glowing mini....then all you have to do to make the circuits be glowing, is do the following steps:

1) (left column menu) Select Color
2) (expanded left column menu) select Mix
3) (top right) from Main Paints, select the color used for the circuits
4) scroll down right colum, to bottom to Glow
5) slide scale from left side (0) to right side (1)

Did you intentionally leave his fingernails uncolored, didn't realize you did or if you did colour them, which colour did you use for his fingernails (or did I forget to colour them for the starting model you expanded on)?

If they are not coloured yet, in your Paint Mix, the unamed paint gives them a good weathered look to them (if it is not named unnamed paint on your end..it has the leather bag icon, and is not leather bag icon for the following colours: grotto fern, hero forge banner red

...two leather bag icons say unnamed paint (on my end looking at your mini)....the one I am referring to is the gray-looking leather bag icon).

* I am customizing the campaign background to incorporate the unusual way he got to 'the future' and met Tarika (Part 2 of his character background will involve Tarika (and her daughter) a fair bit (as Marcellus has lost the ability to watch his alternate universe's twins grow up, he gains some comfort in imagining how the twins and Tarika's daughter might be friends in another alternate universe, which causes him to use his Warp Reality class feature to discover that:

They are in another alternate timeline of in which a version of him (who's Heather had perished during the goblin raid on Sandpoint during the Swallowtail Festival) and had managed to swap places with an alternate version who married Heather and had the twins - and when he tried to make it so the twins real father and him swapped positions in th time/space/dimension, things went awry and that version of the Marcellus (with twins fathered by a different alternate Marcellus) also got sent to 'the future'. Some of the alternate realities there is only a daughter that was brought to the future, and some that only the son was brought to the future. So far, none of them have had an alternate version of his lost love, Heather, in the future. The memories of his Heather are the bulk of his Core Memories class feature.

Whereas that alternate version of him remains in Absalom Station to raise his twins (that were fathered by another variant of himself), his Core Memories include the memories of watching the twins of one (or more than one?) alternate versions of him growing up, he chose to remain on as a worker at the Desna temple, so he could continue to watch the twins grow up.

As it will be 9 years since Marcellus arrived in the future (and the alternate versions of him and the, at the time of arriving in the future, were 10 year old twins, are now 19 years old and have left the nest, Marcellus took Tarika up on her offer to get him a job at the Company.

I agree play whichever you want. I'm a bigger fan of the Mystic class myself... but you should play whichever you like better.

Added a bit more detail to HF mini (including adding ring) and switched starknife ability score from default Str to Dex on Starfinder character sheet.

The default trained score he uses for Assurance during his daily preparation is Piloting.
