If you've made it here, congratulations on being chosen!
Some order of business will be choosing heirloms, I think some of you already chose some, so just repost here for the other players what heirloom you choose.
Here are the heirlooms, since we have 5 players, one of them will get chosen twice.
• Two minor healing potions and one piece of common adventuring gear worth 2 gp or less of the PC’s choice.
• One predictable silver piece (Advanced Player’s Guide 262) and a vial containing one dose of oil of potency.
• Supplies for an alarm snare, 10 sp, and two lesser ghost charges (Advanced Player’s Guide 253).
• One cold-iron chunk worth 10 gp.
❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖
Ideally, if you could also introduce your character, what your intent is and kind of focus will be for that character, doesn't have to be an exact build already pre planned out but even just a general idea, that way your new companions can get an idea who they are adventuring with.
I love PF2E for the synergy character builds provide so just explain a little bit of what your character's schtick will be!
I'll be using Google Sliders and Google Sheets for a lot of this adventure.
If you could all after finalizing your characters, input your information into this Macro Tracker for me, helps speed things up for me as the GM when grabbing iniative or doing any secret checks, etc.
Season of Ghosts Macro Tracker
I look forward to adventuring with y'all. I am very excited to GM this adventure. After see it ranked #1 by the community and by Tarondor I just knew I had to see what it was all about and after reading it I am very pumped to experience this adventure with you all.

Hello!
I am GMing this AP as we speak, as such, will always defer to everyone else’s decision about how to move forward, or weigh in with “what would Ghul do?” for hypotheticals.
I have good news and bad news: I am bringing a Champion who will be able to reduce incoming damage to anyone who stands within his aura. But. As a dhampir elf, will have the negative healing trait, meaning keeping me alive may be a little challenging.
As for party synergy, I can offer which Champion Focus Spell to choose. If we don’t otherwise have a dedicated in-combat healer, I can pick Lay on Hands, but my preference is for the Counterattacking Shield of the Spirits!
Ghul will be looking into taking the Herbalist and Barbarian archetypes - the former to represent his time spent rehabilitating with the Silvermist elves, the latter to represent his developing willpower against resisting his undead thirst for blood. His skill set will be somewhat of a “Ranger”.
Preference for heirlooms #3 and #4.

GM, I know you said Free Archetype is in play.
Any chance I can swap in Ancestry Paragon instead for Ghul?
=)

I mean it guess it ends up doing the same thing as free archetype which is horizontal power and accessibility.
Yeah, if you want to do ancestry paragon over free archetype you may, this applies to everyone as well.
I’m fine with either just not both lol

Ayane Xio |

Hi!! I'm excited to be playing!
Ill be playing Aynae, a Tankui Bard, and she is very much a rascal. :D as for party synergy I am very much the Skill Monkey, Racoon lol, and am trained in pretty much everything and what I'm not trained in I can use Bardic lore for.
My preference is for the predictable silver piece and oil of potency.
Looking forward, I will be taking the Wandering chef free archetype, really leaning into the crafting skill, to be able to provide buffs.
Can't wait to start this adventure!

Sometimes, I can be a useful Tracking Monkey.
Heirlooms
☑) Two minor healing potions and one piece of common adventuring gear worth 2 gp or less of the PC’s choice @ Shandari
☑) One predictable silver piece and a vial containing one dose of oil of potency @ Ayane Xio
□) Supplies for an alarm snare, 10 sp, and two lesser ghost charges @ Ghul?
□) One cold-iron chunk worth 10 gp
□) One duplicate of above...
Couldn't see anything written for Xu Jiang and Yuranosuke

Yuranosuke |

And I am MADE to be a Tracking Monkey, along with other knowledge skills to grant us bonuses against various monsters and act as a frontliner. Once Free Archetype kicks in I'll be adding Cleric to the mix for some more spellcasting. And should the opportunity arise, I may take Cultivator as an Archetype later on! Basically, I created Yuranosuke to be kind of a "support" character: other members of the party may have higher skill rankings than him, BUT he'll be able to use Aid with almost anybody to help bolster them during skill checks as needed.
Since Ghul's got ties the Silvermist Lodges same as me, I imagine Yuranosuke would see him like an uncle (or maybe GREAT-uncle, depending on how long he's been there).
I can take the cold iron chunk, since I imagine no one else plans on taking it and depending on what we encounter it may be useful to get arrowheads made out of.

![]() |

I cannot access your character, Yuranosuke.
But yes, down to tie our backstory together.
Perhaps you were charged with "keeping an eye" on Ghul "in case he goes feral again" which you present positively as "let us pray to Ketephys" or "share a tale with me great uncle" or just the pragmatic "let us go hunting together"?
Also, with GM opening up Ancestry Paragon, I am leaving Barbarian Dedication behind altogether... still got my eye on Herbalist dedication (picked up with "regular" class feats) but will see how the rest of our party shakes out.
Are folks going to post their full characters as onsite aliases?

You mean the Pathbuilder link is borked? I do plan on assembling the data on my profile for ease of use.
Yeah, I figured helping Ghul manage his condition and keep it a secret from the rest of the townsfolk would kind of be a generalized family responsibility everyone takes part in, including Yuranosuke. Maybe Ghul even TAUGHT him how to hunt!
Ayane, I have an idea for how we might know each other: what if Yuranosuke deliberately acted as a straight man for her jokes and pranks? Sort of like "you can prank me because you know I'll always be a good sport about it" or something? Sort of an "Odd Couple" kind of friendship?

GM Cody |

Figured I'd give folks a couple days or so to finish fleshing out their characters before getting started.

Updated above. Looks like we each chose a different Heirloom, and Xu Jiang gets his pick as well.
As a side note. I think I'll be going paragon too, instead of dedication
As a personal opinion, I think selecting Ancestry Paragon over Free Archetype is "leaving (a little) power on the table" but I just want to bring Ghul's Ancestry a little more front and center. (And, Barbarian archetype would cut me out of using my focus spells while raging, so...)

GM Cody |

I sent a PM to Xu Jiang (Tarondor) just to poke them, but if they don't respond in a relatively reasonable timeline, I'll probably grab us a replacement.

I placed my mini on the Map to mark my Home.
There are two Silvermist Lodges (W5), and I took the furthest because my character is sort of a freak. Up to you, Yuranosuke, if you wanna doublebunk and take your chances sleeping next to a Redeemed Dhampir!
=)

GM Cody |

I followed the link, I had to request access to your google doc, but once I have access I can utilize it for your token art :)

I have no idea how you made a circular token like that, that shit rocked my world, I've spent like 3 hours in the background of work zoom meetings trying to replicate it and even then wasn't able to do it as well as you did lol

Circles are PCs, squares are Monsters.
Click the token you want to circlfy, then click the arrow button next to the L7 box, then choose circle. That’s the hard part. Then you can change outline color and border thickness. Helps them to pop.
Lmk if that helps?

GM Cody |

Interesting, I usually just do squares with black outlines for PCs and then different color'd outlined squares for enemies or if there is too many enemies or someone is color blind I'll attach numbers to the enemies and denote all of them with red outlines.
But this token maker site that Shandari linked to is also wonderful and will definitely be using it.

Yuranosuke |

I can't seem to access the google doc, Shandari?
Also, any thoughts on how you and Yuranosuke might have interacted growing up?

Well, the Lodges do have more people than just us...presumably Ghul wouldn't be living there all by himself, and family members from both probably pass back and forth (and out into the Specterwood for hunting).

Xu Jiang |

Heya! Thank you for the invitation!
As for "schtick", Xu Jiang is a healer and a devotee of Pharasma. He'll concentrate on healing and buffing in combat. At early levels, he'll be casting Runic Weapon a lot (probably on Yuranosuke ), as well as bless.
When time permits, he'll cast divine lance.

GM Cody |

heyy welcome Xu Jiang! I'll give y'all another day or so then I'll get things started.

Shandari |

Shandari is a bit of an airhead. Despite the traditions she has messed up a few times as things seem to never stick with her too well. She often acts without thinking.
She often means well but with 0 thought on consequences, her help can sometimes be detrimental to those around her. Hence why she was 'volenteered' for the roll of abductees
So perhaps he has come to help her out in the sense of thinking for her in regards to what she should do vs what she 'thinks' she should do

Xu Jiang |

Xu Jiang is a simple woodcutter at heart, rustic and unrefined. But he is also -very- serious about his role as a priest, which role he only assumed yesterday, so he is also very green.
He makes friends easily, likes cheap rice wine and games of strategy. He is -trying- to be more deliberate about his choices, under the guidance of the Pharasmin priestess Elizeth Candora.

GM Cody |

Absolutely, y'all can pop over to game play and start introducing yourselves in character :)

GM Cody |

Also let me know if there is any personnel art you want to use for your characters.
I'm not sure if its available to everyone or via a plug in that I use but I'm able to import custom art into folks avatar's which if folks have art they prefer over the Paizo default I end up using. Though it only is visible to me.

Xu Jiang |

Yeah, I have that plug-in, too. But if only one person can see it, then is it worthwhile to do? I'll just stick with my Paizo art. It's a bit more glowering than I'd choose, but it'll do.

![]() |

normally you'd have to draw your weapon first, I know that may seem unintuitive especially when wielding what is essentially a pole-arm/wallking stick, just one of those oddities of balance with PF2E requiring folks to draw their weapons every combat
I have not had this experience. Unless the encounter is a “surprise” of some kind.

Xu Jiang |

Nor I. I think if you're choosing to wield a polearm, you have some disadvantages that go with it (e.g., it can't be easily hidden and can't be carried into social situations without comment) but you shouldn't have to interact to draw it if it's already in your hands. Just my opinion.

Ditto

GM Cody |

Hm maybe I've been steered wrong in the past, might have been a bad ruling I just accepted as fact when I was first learning PF2E.

GM rainzax |

Maybe. But this “rule” isn’t printed anywhere, perhaps just how your GM chose to run it.
How I run it: Out exploring? PCs have weapons out. At a dinner party? Weapons sheathed (or even: in coat check unless concealed!). Out in the city not necessarily “adventuring” per se? Weapons sheathed. Out in the city tracking a lead? Weapons out. Ambushed during a first aid sit or while sleeping? Sheathed or worse. Old man and his “walking stick” (bo staff) trying to waltz past security? Cornercase! Etc.
GM has final say. I try to use common sense. I’ve had players argue “But murph would have his weapon out while eating dinner” etc. I make my ruling and move on. Maybe murph is a dagger-using rogue and it’s steak dinner…
Almost similar for Reactions being ready before first turn, but the rules explicitly say “it’s GM’s call”.

GM Cody |

Unfortunately, due to personal reasons, Rainzax has had to drop out of the game. I know that kind of throws some backstories out of wack, luckily its still early and we'll adjust with some hand wavy ness.
I'll probably grab someone from recruitment to replace him.

GM Cody |

all good, life happens.
I reached out to someone else from recruitment that I know from another one of my games to see if they were still interested.
