| Ace the Squox |
"Hey, watch the fur Stabby!" Ace quips as he races after the robot.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
"Gods -- I can't wait 'til I get better with this f~&!in' thing. Wait, isn't that cleaner an anacite too? I thought pretty much all f$%&in' robots on this planet were anacites. Beep boop shortwave an' all that."
Boost, polarize, and professional sound like a hell of a combo.
Nik-a-Nik
|
Nik-a-Nik peers around the corner, and shoots that the roomba.
Trick: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34. Flat-Footed against this attack on a success.
Static Arc Pistol: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15, for 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (1) + (2) = 3 Electricity damage.
| Xevras |
Xevras is not about to charge into the next room alone. So he chants a brief incantation, hurling a couple bolts of force at the security guard before awkwardly squirming back out of sight.
Damage: 2d4 + 2 ⇒ (4, 1) + 2 = 7 Magic missile, so it automatically hits.
| DM Dickie |
Well, shoot, I may as well keep it moving!
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Despite Ace's soundwaves smashing it's casing and Nik-a-Nik's tricky electrical blast, the anacite dustar fires it's polishing laser at it's previous target yet again. It then moves up to both Ace and Nik fearlessly. 5 fire again Ace!
Xevras opts for the most accurate attack possible in an effort to negate the guard's cover. His force attacks strike perfectly, bloodying the android's nose. In response to the magic, the android breaks and moves deeper into the production lab rather than returning fire.
Round 3
Everyone is up! Map is current (again). Spotting the camouflaged Anacite monitor (still) requires a DC 36 Perception check.
| Xevras |
Hearing the fighting in the nearby room, Xevras slithers his way over to the door, slides his upper body through it, and then whips the annoying cleaning bot.
Taclash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Critical!: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
| Ace the Squox |
Wait s%@+ looking at the dustar's statblock because haha funny roomba, I think I hit on the 4?!
"You wanna get up close an' personal, stabby?" Ace says as he plays more horrible notes on his guitar of a weapon.
Attack (v. EAC: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Damage (Boost): 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (3) + (3) = 6
| DM Dickie |
Yeah, Xev finishes it off pretty handily. Its all size and dex, no real armor. But the two of them were rolling off the charts lol. That made them exactly the sort of surprise they were intended fo be! My favorite part is that both were able to use two different concealed weapons. Props to the designer of those dustars!
Robyte is still up, and I will try not to forget Hafi this turn, left him off in my haste, but also just trying to hold healing spells just in case, so probably for the best.
| DM Dickie |
A little retcon since I forgot the readied action!
The android security guard moves to find more cover deeper in the production lab, but SK1P's targeting software perfectly anticipates his attempt. The massive artillery laser flashes down the hallway, burning a hole straight through the guard's thigh and drops him easily.
On the other side of the building, Xevras' whip cracks the anacite dustar nearly in half. What little remains of the small machine is swept away by the concentrated sound waves of Ace's instrument.
"Attention intruders!" comes a mechanical voice through the office intercom. "Reinforcements are coming. It would be best for you to surrender. Report to the reception area and leave your weapons in a pile. You will not be harmed."
Round 4
Everyone is up! Hafi is just moving to stay near the big/fast fighter types and trying to stay in range of Robyte should anyone need sudden medical attention.
Nik-a-Nik
|
Nik-a-Nik moves forward, and begins to quickly strip the security guard of his equipment.
Just checking, do I think it is bluffing? We took control of the computer system, didn't we?
| DM Dickie |
Nik-a-Nik moves forward, and begins to quickly strip the security guard of his equipment.
Just checking, do I think it is bluffing? We took control of the computer system, didn't we?
You've taken control of the computer system, including door locks and cameras. There are no reinforcements currently in sight and anyone trying to enter from the door you came in would make noise trying to force the maglocks or short the panel.
That said, its possible off-duty security from this project is coming, but they will be several minutes away at least. Mostly a bluff, and a fairly poor one. The large security anacite is still very much a threat, but he is the only threat.
| Xevras |
Xevras starts slithering his way towards the hanger. "Don't listen to it. We've just got to knock out that big anacite--probably the one that's speaking--and we're good."
It's a double move for him to get to where he is on the map--suspicious that the anacite is hiding nearby, but there's no way he's beating that Perception DC
| Xevras |
Xevras growls. Nothing for it but to take the hit. He rushes into the room.
If he stumbles across the anacite or it attacks him and reveals himself, he'll attack back. Otherwise he's taking a single move and readying and attack with his taclash.
Taclash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
| DM Dickie |
Jumping in since yeah, you triggered his readied attack. I moved Xevras back slightly, since he would have ended in the same squares as Monitor 77B is standing in, lol.
Readied Slash: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20 Flat-footed AC
Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 Slashing
Xevras' knows what is coming, and yet, the anacite monitor's blade still comes seemingly out of nowhere. The anacite monitor's chameleon coating fades away, revealing the large robot's location at last. Despite finally seeing his foe, Xevras is unable to lash the massive guardian.
Nik, Ace are still up!
Nik-a-Nik
|
Nik-a-Nik winces as Xevras get badly lacerated.
Nonetheless, he pops-off a shot.
I can't see the anacite on the map?
Trick: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33. Flat-Footed against this attack on a success.
Static Arc Pistol: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10, for 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (4) + (3) = 7 Electricity damage.
| DM Dickie |
Ace lets a particularly brutal lick loose that scuffs the anacite's leg while Nik-a-Nik's electrical blast misses the massive security specialist.
The mantis-shaped anacite carefully adjusts it's position in an effort to reduce the fire it is taking from outside the room but remain close to the dracoform in front of it. When it tries to slash Xevras again, the bladed claw arm is momentarily entangled by a loose cord hanging from nearby equipment causing the attack to fail entirely.
Round 5
Everyone is up. Hafi is still just moving, getting ready to jump in with emergency healing if needed, but don't forget the previous buff he cast on Xevras.
Yes, I was borrowing a little Shadowrun lingo there, dracoform, heh.
Nik-a-Nik
|
Nik-a-Nik zips into the room, using the wall of draconic flesh as cover, and takes another shot!
Trick: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (6) + 15 = 21. Flat-Footed against this attack on a success.
Static Arc Pistol: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16, for 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (2) + (4) = 6 damage.
| DM Dickie |
77Beray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Dam: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
77Beray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Dam: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
77Beray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Dam: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
77Beray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Dam: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Struggling with his pick, Ace can't quite find the right angle to direct his sound waves. Xevras and Nik, on the other hand, both put a sizeable dent and scorch marks respectively on Monitor 77B.
The anacite responds with over-whelming fire from a series of projectors mounted in pods along it's face. With deadly accuracy it fires twice at Xevras and twice at Nik, striking both with multiple blasts.
It provokes from Xevras, so feel free to get a free attack in.
Xevras takes 5 and 4 electrical damage.
Nik takes 4 and 4 electrical damage.
Round 6
Everyone is up! Hafi is readying to rush in and heal if someone drops.
Nik-a-Nik
|
"That stung!"
Nik--Nik pops-off another shot.
Trick: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (4) + 15 = 19. Flat-Footed against this attack on a success.
Static Arc Pistol(EAC): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11, for 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (3) + (4) = 7 electricity damage.
| Xevras |
AoO: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Xevras sees the anacite charging and lashes out (literally), striking another blow on it. That's far from enough to down the anacite, though, and he roars in pain as it scorches deep through his armor into his scalese. He staggers slightly, shaking his head a bit to try to clear the darkness that's creeping into the corners of his vision. Recognizing they have to take this thing down now he takes another swing at the anacite.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Then he staggers back into cover.
| Ace the Squox |
Attack v. EAC: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Sonic Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Ace scampers in range and manages to hit the Anacite. His music still sounds atrocious though.
| DM Dickie |
77Beray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
77Beray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Dam: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
77Beray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
77Beray: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Dam: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Although it takes quite a beating, the anacite guardian remains a deadly opponent. It has damage from multiple sources, including Ace's soul-screeching guitar and Xevras' lash. "One down, unknown number to go," it taunts.
Monitor 77B cautiously moves forward to ensure the current slate of targets is within optimal range before opening up with his laser pods. Once again, a heavy burst of fire issues forth across the lab. Both Nik and Ace are singed by the energy bolts.
Nik 4 electrical
Ace 4 electrical
Round 7
Everyone is up. Monitor 77B is looking pretty beat up, but it seems pretty relentless. And it is very dangerous. Hafi has one more first level spell left, BTW.
Nik-a-Nik
|
Gritting his teeth, Nik-a-Nik fires off another crackling blast.
Trick: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (16) + 15 = 31. Flat-Footed against this attack on a success.
Static Arc Pistol(EAC): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22, for 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (3) + (4) = 7 electricity damage.
| Xevras |
At our level almost anything that's large-sized is going to be *very* dangerous to us.
Xevras rumbles a "Thanks" to Hafipaer, then takes a step back towards the door. He sticks his head and shoulders through and snaps his taclash at the anacite again.
Taclash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
| DM Dickie |
Damage: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Anacite Monitor 77B receives fire from multiple angles and of multiple types. The drone's massive laser melts away some armor, but appears to be the anacite equivalent of a flesh wound. The same can be said of Ace's sonic blast. Nik-a-Nik, however, finally manages to catch 77B in just the right place. The robotic guardian turns and stares at the ysoki. "Keep away from that door!" it orders Nik moments before it's metal wings launch it at the rat man. It's bladed arms lash out at Nik-a-Nik, landing solidly across his abdomen. Nik 14 slashing.
Round 8
Everyone is up! Monitor 77B is looking rough. But so too are some of you! Uh, Nik? Hafi is ready to use his last spell for another mystic cure...
| Ace the Squox |
Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
"I'm not lettin' ya hurt my f$%#in' coworkers!"
Damage (Boost): 1d4 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + (1) = 4 CAN I ROLL SOMETHING OTHER THAN A ONE?!
Nik-a-Nik
|
Nik-a-Nik lets out a squeal of pain as he is nearly dropped (Down to 2 hp).
"Damn it! That *really* hurt!"
Despite the fact that blood is dripping from his abdominal wound, and breathing is starting to hurt, he then blasts the robot again.
Trick: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (14) + 15 = 29. Flat-Footed against this attack on a success.
Static Arc Pistol(EAC): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18, for 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (3) + (4) = 7 electricity damage.
| DM Dickie |
Ace pings 77B with a sonic blast, which cause the insectoid articial being to turn and look at him. The distraction is just what Nik needed to finally put the guardian down, and his arc pistol lances electricity directly into it's body thanks to a chunk of armor Xevras managed to damage nearly a minute before. Monitor 77B collapses to the floor.
On the camera, Robyte can see a sizeable squad of EJ Corp breeching specialists assembling at the door.
Combat is over, unless you'd like to stick around and duke it out with reinforcements?
| Xevras |
Xevras growls a wordless agreement and starts jogging towards the hangar. While Hafi's spell handled the worst of his injuries, his brain still feels foggy from his close brush with unconsciousness... or worse.
| DM Dickie |
The crew moves swiftly to the door Monitor 77B had tried to keep Nik-a-Nik from getting close to. Using the key card found in Eline Reisora's office unlocks it immediately. Beyond is a massive dock holding a brand new transport craft.
The Oliphaunt's fuselage seems to be based on a fast-trader class but bulky cargo pods mounted to the fore compartment break the smoother lines. If the drow was right, those cargo pods are magically enchanted to be larger on the inside than the outside. Oliphaunt is curiously devoid of registration numbers or markings of any sort, despite the fresh paint job on the rest of the hull.
Again, thanks to the key card, the crew easily powers the cargo hauler up and Robyte uses his backdoor computer access to release docking clamps and open the hanger door. The ship easily clears the Plate and Ace quickly drops the vessel into The Drift and plots a course to the meet location in the Diaspora.
Once able to explore the ship, the crew finds the null-space cargo bays to be exactly as described. They're cavernous from inside the ship, clearly able to hold a sufficiently larger quantity of cargo than a pod that size should. The ship also has a decent arcane laboratory built into it, presumably as part of the cargo bay installation and prototyping. There is also a full hologrpahic recreation suite, something that BD514 most certainly did not have. BD514 also lacked any weapon systems, this ship does not.
A few days later and the ship exits the Drift within sensor range of the coordinates for the drop. The comm lights up with an incoming transmission providing a landing trajectory to a concealed hanger on an nondescript asteroid.
