Nik-a-Nik will spend some time looking for loot on the ship... just in case!
"Heads-up. We are almost at the drop-off point. Who wants to bet that they will try to screw us over, like pretty much everyone else has?"

Xevras |

"Given how likely it seems we got set up to want to take this job, I'm not very hopeful," Xevras growls.
Truth be told, he was wishing to have something else to focus on than the fact that they'd likely just killed some people who were just doing their jobs to steal a ship, especially when it seemed likely that they were about to be double-crossed for the ship.

DM Dickie |

The ship floats through the atmospheric force field into a dimly lit hanger bay just large enough to accommodate Oliphaunt. A small building occupies the far end of the landing zone with a drow woman leaning casually against the door. After the ship sets down and the crew disembark, the drow tells them that Deminda is just inside, "Get your personal affects and I'll bring you in to see her." The sound of the landing chocks snapping into place reverberates loudly in the small bay.
The woman opens the door to the small building, revealing a well-appointed lounge area with a large table currently set with a fairly posh meal. They must be ready to celebrate a successful heist. Two other drow are in the room, both picking at hors d'oeuvres. They look up and nod in greeting and one shouts in the direction of the north-most door for Deminda.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20.
Nik-a-Nik quietly taps out an SMS over his private comm unit (which everyone has, since it comes integrated into any suit of non-archaic armour).
I knew it. They are planning to double-cross us! Let's get the drop on them!
I think it would not be unreasonable if we took the ship activation card with us, and locked the ship behind us.

Xevras |

Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Xevras gives Nik-a-Nik the slightest of nods, hand resting 'casually' near his axe. He glances around as he enters the room, trying to guess if there's anyone hiding in addition to the visible probably-enemies.
I figure we had 10 minutes to rest and recover stamina while we were flying over, right?

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

@Xevras: It took us several days to get here from where we boosted the ship, so I think it is safe to say you had a chance to do a 10 minute rest... unless you were *really* overdoing it in the holographic recreation suite ;-)

DM Dickie |

Nik suggested getting the drop, so if you'd like to take a surprise round to initiate combat, or possibly try and do something else requiring bluff or sleight of hand checks to buy time for something, feel free.
And yeah, not at all unreasonable to seal the ship up and hold the card. Seems like the prudent thing to do even if Nik wasn't sure it was a double-cross.

Robyte |

Knowing the layout of his own rig, it was easy to work it upside down as he bring all six his arms behind his back, like any trained military personal when 'at ease', as he activates Skip. Guiding him to be ready to fire his laser at the first sign of combat
"Affirmative. Setting up Skip to attack. Just say who and when" he quickly responds

Xevras |

As casually as he can, Xevras walks up next to one of the drow and while drawing his axe.
On a surprise round I think moving is all he can do, but in case he can attack...
Axe: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Nik-a-Nik will likewise spend his surprise round drawing a weapon, ready to give the dark elves a good thrashing... or at least a nasty shock.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me...

Weapons are drawn by the crew before the drow, and SK1P fires a beam that goes wide. "Ha! It is a shame that we must kill you!" one shouts as she draws her rifle and steps back into the corner. She pounds on the door beside her, signaling to Deminda, no doubt.
Another pulls her rifle up as she drops to one knee behind the big table. She points the laser weapon toward Xevras and hits the trigger. The dragonkin proves to be difficult to miss, and her beam sears his arm. Xevras 6 fire damage.
The one the big guy is standing beside sees the dragonkin's axe and pulls free his own whip, stepping back slightly and snapping the lash. He drags across his snout and draws blood. Xevras 5 slashing. Sorry, you're big, makes you the obvious choice lol.
Round One
Everyone is up at the bottom of round 1. For once the baddies had a significantly better set of rolls.

Nik-a-Nik peers around the corner, and fires off a shot at Red.

Nik-a-Nik's shot seems to come out of nowhere, and takes the drow woman by surprise. More shocking to her is Xevras' axe. How she manages to take the pair of blows and still remain standing is an open question, but bloddied and frustrated she lashes out with the whip again, snapping into Xevras. Xevras 5 slashing.
The sonic blast from Ace is barely misses, and only succeeds in throwing a plate of olives onto the floor. The purple elf returns fire, striking Ace with a narrow laser beam and singing his fur. Ace 5 fire.
The one who had knocked on the door moves to grab cover behind the table herself and fires at Xevras, but her shot goes wide and simply scorches the door behind the lithe draconic being.
Round Two
Everyone is up! Map is current.

Throwing a worried look at Xevras, Nik-a-Nik attempts to finish-off Red.

Static Arc Pistol(EAC): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18, for 1d6 + 1d4 ⇒ (4) + (3) = 7 electricity damage.

DM Dickie |

I'm just going to interrupt real quick because Nik will finish red off with that shot and looking back at the initiative rolls he had a nat 20 and Xevras a nat 1, so Xevras, consider red dot drow to be gone when you act (but I'm leaving the token up to remind me of everything when it comes time to resolve the round).

Xevras |

Xevras's growl of pain rises to a roar, that resolves into words. "Did you all THINK," he snarls as he lunges past the falling corpse of his first target towards the next, "That we would just roll over and DIE? That we hadn't NOTICED your boss SET US UP!?"
He swings wildly at the next of the drow even as blood trickles down the inside of his armor from his newest injury.

The enforcer with the whip drops from Nik-a-Nik's electrical blast, clearing the way for Xevras to move into the room and dominate the northern end. He tries to bring his weapon down on the drow, but she deflects the blow with her laser rifle. Despite the miss, things are looking up for the dragonkin when Hafi rushes in and channels healing energy into Xevras. Xevras heals 5 HPs.
The other goon takes fire from SK1P and Ace. The drone-tank's main weapon burns a nasty hole through her armor and shoulder, but once again Ace is aiming just a little too low and strikes the table and one of the warm food trays and showers the woman with steamed vegetables. That drow fires back at SK1P, scorching the paint on it's well-armored front. SK1P takes 3 fire.
The other drops her rifle and pulls free her taclash, snapping it at Xevras in desperation, grazing him with the whip. Xevras 3 slashing.
Round Three
Everyone is up! Yeah, sorry that you keep missing specifically because of the cover Ace.

Xevras |

Yeah, getting a clear line of fire on your enemy is pretty important in Starfinder since there's so few ways of boosting your attack bonus to be really high.
Xevras keeps hacking away at his target, heedless of the lashing.

One of the drow is caught hard in the chest by Xevras' axe. The dragon leaves behind a vicious wound. Hafipaer focuses his mind and telekinetically throws a serving platter from the table into that same drow, bashing her in the head. Xevras takes 5 slashing.
The woman lashes out with her whip at Xevras. She strikes true, adding yet another wound to the dragonkin. The other drow takes another shot at Ace. Her careful aim is rewarded when she sears the small Castrovelian with her laser rifle. Ace takes 6 fire.
Unnoticed, Lord Sinjin's lieutenant, Deminda has slipped out of a hidden door. With a flash she launches a razor-sharp ceramic shuriken that catches Nik-a-Nik unaware in the side of the head. Nik takes 10 slashing. Man, they had a good round. Hopefully the crew has their own really good round next!
Round Four
Everyone is up! Note Deminda is now visible on the map.

DM Dickie |

I really thought I posted. My bad! Fixing
The boards were really unstable last week, so it probably was "eaten" as folks say.
Nik drops the most wounded drow with an electrical blast. The other drow woman does not fare any better as the drone's main gun burns a hole through her armor that results in Ace's jarring guitar lick to wreak havoc on her body. Xevras moves in as her head is still spinning and drops the remaining goon with his axe.
Outside, Deminda conjures a deep, magical darkness that gives her plenty of cover to hide and prepare an ambush.
Round Five
Everyone can act! The blue box on the map is where the light has gone from comfortably dim to just plain dark. I revealed the rest of the building just to make it easy to take actions, but as Deminda herself isn't visible to anyone from the crew's current position, I would advise caution entering the newly shown rooms.

![]() |

Nik-a-Nik heads back outside, ready to shoot Deminda.
I do have Darkvision. I have made a double move, but if I see her before I reach that point on the map, I will change my action.

Xevras |

Xevras makes his way back around the table, but he doesn't stick his head out just yet. "Hafi, if she's giving us time to heal I could use some more!" he says as he moves.
