While we wait to start, please allow me to lay out the ground rules, which are designed for fairness and consistency, while keeping the game moving at a pace to ensure we finish in a timely manner.
⚔ Please have a complete character profile here on the Paizo forums, not a link to a pdf or character sheet hosted elsewhere. Please have either full text descriptions of feats and character abilities or links to the SRD or Nethys so that I and your teammates don’t have to go digging thru source-books when there’s a question.
⚔ Please make it obvious what buffs you have active and what your AC is. If you’re benefiting from a Level Bump, please update your header tag lines at least. I don’t expect you to update your whole character profile, but at least let me know if you have or haven’t for when I look up skills for secret rolls, etc.
⚔ I roll group initiative and track character actions by block. Unless you state you are waiting for another to act, I will adjudicate those actions in the order they were posted to the extent that it makes sense, as those posting later have the benefit of acting based on what’s come before in the thread.
⚔ You may delay to a later position in the initiative sequence as usual.
⚔ If I make a mistake, please let me know, and I will try to make it right. If it’s too far back, too complex to correct, or too minor to matter, we may have to accept it and move on, with the understanding that I will be fair and equitable.
⚔ I generally prefer PCs to roll their own saving throws, flat checks, and reactions. It keeps the game moving, and by reducing my workload it means I may be able to make a quick post when I otherwise wouldn’t have had time.
⚔ I like a relatively fast-paced scenario. However, do be aware that my posting can be irregular.
⚔ If at all possible, please let me know if something comes up that prevents you from posting. Likewise, I will do my best to update you all if it will be significantly more than 24 hours before my next post.
The name says it all. I’m a long-haul international cargo airline pilot who is intentionally and happily homeless. Many of my work days are spent sleeping as much as I can right up to the wake-up call before a flight, flying one or more legs between 8 to 16 hours long, then falling into bed at the next hotel. My employer’s jets do not have wifi because the boxes we carry don’t need to check their email or watch movies in flight. So it’s not unusual for me to not be able to post for 30+ hours on occasion. However, when I’m not sleeping or flying, I’m off duty in a hotel somewhere in the world with no responsibilities, and that’s when I can post as much as I need to and keep the game moving along.
Questions? Just let me know. Let's have fun!

Ribbit!
I'll update Olaf's statblock later tonight (Asia time).

Bramblespine has Horizon Hunter's Rugged Mentor (Saving Throws)

![]() |

Protective Mentor
While working with less experienced Pathfinder allies, you shield your more fragile wards from the threat of death. For any PCs benefiting from a Level Bump and whose levels are lower than yours, you increase their current and maximum Hit Points by an additional amount equal to 3 times your Radiant Oath reputation tier (Liked = 1, Admired = 2, Revered = 3).
Normal: A Level Bump increases a PC’s Hit Points by 10% or 10, whichever is higher.
Liked only though. 3 hp.

![]() |

Oh, you forgot to heal the allies their 13 hp on the tracker. I don't know if that changes Bramblespine's action.
EDIT: Or maybe Olaf's.

![]() |

Oh, shoot. You're right. Olaf/Bramblespine, retcon if you wish, since we're waiting for Melania and Molly anyway.
Sorry, again.

![]() |

Before we move on to the next room, let's get Exploration Activities declared. I see default ones in a couple tag-lines, but of course, you can change those.
What I see:
Olaf = Search
Lesley = Avoid Notice
Everyone else, please let me know what you're doing before we move on. You know, in case it might matter....

![]() |

Bramblespine will Search.

I will be unavailable to update on Saturday and Sunday. Kindly bot me if necessary.

We're not super-close to being done (still have this fight and ... something else ...). But I just heard about the Necromancer and Runecrafter playtests. The Playtest opens on the 9th, and I'm giving you all first dibs on a playtest session as you're all a good group of experienced players.
I ran Swordlord's Challenge for the Battlecry! playtest. I could use that again, or I could run something else if someone knows of a particular Series 2 Quest that would work particularly well as a playtest battleground.
If I do reuse Swordlord's, I think with only 4 PCs this time, sorry. (Six was a bit much in that small room.)
I'd be looking for 1 of each of the playtest characters at level 3. If we don't do Swordlord's Challenge, we could up it to a max of 2 of each if there's demand.
Let me know if you're interested or not, please.

22 misses Qigiq's AC of 23 unless I'm missing something.
I'd be happy to play as a non-Playtest character.
3rd level necromancer needs enemies who can die, so Swordlord might not be the best to showcase it. #17 would work. I'm not familiar enough with the rest.

![]() |

I'd be up to try the necromancer. I did try a guardian on the previous playtest. Just to clarify, I can apply those rewards to Melenia once she reaches level 3, right?

Melenia, don't forget that the level bump also adds to damage. (I think nobody ever remembers that except me)

I saw 21 (23) in the status bar, and assumed shield was not raised. But now just realized Qigiq does Defend, so yeah, 23 and a miss. Sorry.

I always forget that too!

1 non-Playtest, check.

Fair point about Necromancer. I haven't seen the class yet. But I'll pass on Quest #17. I ran it at Origins when the GM called in sick. It was poorly written and problematic. TBH, Footsteps of Horror might be fun to see how a Necromancer handles Undead opponents, but it's a little too many Undead and not enough variety.

One Necromancer, check. Yes, you can hold the chronicle until Melania reaches 3. Or alternately just apply it to her while she's still level 1. See here for how it works. Note that Playtest characters count as "pregens."
Blackfeather Jack is in, also.

Necromancer's get
You have studied the delicate balance of life and death to such a point that you can dance between them with ease. Whenever you cast a spell or use an ability that would deal void or vitality damage, use the weaker of the target’s resistance or immunity to void or to vitality. For instance, if the creature were immune to void and had no resistance or immunity to vitality damage, it would take vitality damage from the spell or ability. Resistance or immunity to both (or to all damage) applies as normal.
Meaning they can use void damage on undead. (among other benefits)
---
If you'd consider one of the 1xp replayable options available to Bramblespine, (Q4,Q9 or Bounties 19-21) I could bring Bramblespine but I'm also perfectly content sitting it out, so you should run what you want, I'm sure you'd have no trouble getting folks.
(I'm too dedicated to planning to make a temporary playtest character, and Bramblespine is my only 3-4 character available right now and will be 1xp away from leveling.)

![]() |

I can join the next game but will not play as playtest character. I have other level 3 characters that can receive the credit.

Ooh. Nice. That'll make leveling up faster. Thanks for clarifying this. Melenia will hit level 2 after applying the rewards from the playtest.

![]() |

I can do a Runesmith if nobody else wants to do one, but I’ll absolutely defer to someone else.

![]() |

Would like to clarify regarding my sickened condition. I made the will save here and I thought that a success can end the sickened condition and that a failed save would need a spell to remove the curse. My first retch attempt was a failure and the following one was a success so I thought that the sickened condition can go away. Or maybe this one is different?
Sorry. My bad. There were so many attempts to alleviate various sources of Sickened, that I missed the one that mattered most.
Melania is no longer Sickened or Cursed.
FWIW, it would go away automatically once you leave the Netherworld.

Playtest update:
I just got Quest Series 2, #21 Infernal Infiltration which is Level 1-4, 2 XP Repeatable. It's got a couple fights that I think will be good for a necromancer, and lots of skill checks too, of course. I'll plan to start this coming week.
So far I have:
Melania/Marjim building us a Necromancer 3
Blackfeather Jack (kineticist 3)
Lesley / Frozen Frost likely bringing a different character
Qigiq / Blake's Tiger testing a Runesmith 3
Pirate Rob, you're welcome to a seat of course, though I understand it would be with a different PC.
Same goes for Olaf / Uncle Froggy, you're always welcome to join.

![]() |

Appreciate it, will pass though, I'm already in a pbp for it, am scheduled to play it locally and don't have another 3-4 PC for whom the credit would fit nicely.
I might come spy on the Necromancer though.

I'll play Q21 (with a different character)

I'll play Q21 (with a different character)
Nice.
I know the holidays are coming, but the Playtest only runs until 31 Jan (who at Paizo schedules these? Sheesh!), so I'll try to get us started this week. I think for simplicity and speed of starting, we'll just go with the 5 of ya'll (and a ghostly Pirate Rob scrying from a distance....)
Sorry about not moving us forward in this game this weekend. I'll move us on to the next ... thing ... shortly.

![]() |

Just a heads up for everyone: I will be unavailable on 23 - 29 December 2024. Also, since it is a holiday here on 30 December 2024 and then celebrate New Year's Day, I will probably be back by next year, like Jan 2 or 3.

![]() |

I will bring this pirate for the infiltration quest.

![]() |

Since we'll have to wait through the holidays for Lesley's necromancer, we'll just plan to start on the 3rd. Please have your playtest characters ready by then, and we'll get right into it at the start of the year.

You mean Melania's necromancer? I will be playing Schek Nek for the next quest.

Is Olaf Sanctified Holy? The infuse vitality spell says: "If you have the holy trait, you can add that trait to this spell and to the Strikes affected by the spell." It might matter....
Is anyone else Sanctified Holy, for that matter? Qigiq? Melania? My understanding is that you still have to use an effect that specifically has the "sanctified" trait for it to matter, but in case you are and do, I'd like to know.

![]() |

Nethys is Neutral. Which is why for the longest time Olaf had no access to Divine Lance.

![]() |

Qigiq was sanctified Holy per the Remaster guidelines on non-republished gods when we started because Barzahk granted a healing font. Then they published the web extra for every god ever published and took away the ability to sanctify, so I'm going to need to rebuild out of Barzahk when we finish as I have feats that require sanctification.

![]() |

That’s weird. Divine Lance does spirit damage; why would that make a difference?
ETA: Oh, it has the Sanctified tag

Yikes! So is sanctification still required for those feats, or is it no longer a factor?
And does this apply to PF in general, or PFS in particular?

![]() |

Yes. Sanctified X is in the feat requirements.
So it’s either retrain the feats or retrain the deity.

![]() |

I'll be in transit all day tomorrow.

![]() |

As will I. Hong Kong to Sydney by way of a short layover in Seoul. But I should be able to make a post if everyone does. Though I recognize it's the holiday travel weekend.

![]() |

Oops. Sorry about the dice typo. Yes, 2d10.

Prior to the remaster, Divine Lance was not accessible if your deity was True Neutral.

I thought you didn't need a flat check if there was no attack roll. My bad.
Area of Effect spells where you target an area rather than discrete, concealed/hidden creatures/objects.
