Landris isn't likely to win, especially against Robyn. But you never know what the d20 might give you....

Moving this to discussion so it is not in the way of the Gameplay thread
Alkaid Yaffa Leona Aiba wrote:Knowing the houses is fine, but I asked about factions, think political parties within the ranks of nobility, some factions will either bank on certain royals taking the throne or certain ideals they pursue for the nation (a faction could be elitist, while another is more for the commonfolk).
I could see maybe about 4-5 factions at most like; one backing the princess, one backing the prince, one independent/neutral, maybe one backing another family to take the throne and maybe one that is disloyal to the nation and or under influence from a foreign power.Factions:1. The Tories (those for the Prince)
2. The Conservatives (for the Duke)
3. The Hedonists (Under influence from Keoland)
4. The Scribes (a political party related to the Church of Pelor)
5. The Liberals (one backing the princess)
Thanks, though I'd change the name of 3 factions ( My fault for referencing political parties and not saying don't use party names or references)
As right now in some countries, Certain parties of a certain type are well, Sh*t and are a dirty word.
That is until they clean up their act and at the moment are not for the people as much as they claim they are.
While the other is seen much better for the people and actually serve the people.
So to keep the game clean and non-political, I recommend using the changes below to faction names.
1, I'd change Tories to The Traditionalist or Prince Faction
2) I'd change Conservatives to The Alternative or Duke Faction
5) I'd change Liberal to (If the princess has almost all the commoners supporting her) the Commoner's Faction or Princess faction (if she has near equal support of the commoners as the others)

Not really sure what I can do either.

I have a suggestion to break the Limbo state, as Robyn put it.
Bring in some Chaos, Like a horde of monsters that were lured in to the event to assassinate the Princess bringing an end to her faction, such that it would look subtle and a natural chain of events.
It would bring in combat that'll get everyone involved and busy, while also interrupting Alkaid's thought process and questions.
Either we succeed or fail in keeping the princess alive there will be things to do and questions to ask in the aftermath of the event.

Glad you like it,
Though it will mean everyone will need some thinking caps on as political intrigue is running within the game.
Good news is I did get part of the political intrigue started and setup for the GM with my earlier questions.
We'll likely trying to undermine and wipe out the hidden Hedonist faction as they are a faction moving behind the scenes and could be using the attempt to pit the other factions against each other with blame if it gets out this was an assassination "attempted or Successful" of the Head of the princess faction, heck they could even use US as the scapegoat and assassin with "Evidence"
Which adds layers and many paths to the story.
Yeah I have a bit more of a political intrigue mind when dealing with nobles due to the novel series "Record of Wortenia War" and a bit from a few other novel series like How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom.
Also if we end up backing a faction, we better hope we don't get screwed over like Ryoma when he backed a princess in an underdog position and made them a winner.

I'm, really a cause of me not thinking but focused on something else. Here comes the monsters.
(Forgot that Greyhawk has many monsters. Mostly of the orc persuasion.)

Sounds good, but might need Alkaid to lead/direct us. ?? I'm not really good, or built right (yet) for an intrigue game.

Alkaid Yaffa Leona Aiba |

I'm not built for an intrigue game either,
but there are things one can pick up that make it easier.
Investigator is a good class for intrigue if you have the mind for it.....
If you can take it, I recommend Breadth of Experience, or a level or two in Bard to get Bardic Knowledge. This can help with any knowledge checks for questions or thoughts one comes up with (and if bard, you got a load of class skills).
I'd also recommend picking up the Cunning feat for an extra skill point per level if using a class with 2 or 4 skill points
Now I might need to dip into Rogue/NInja for some Class Skills and skill points.....
I might be able to figure out a PrCs that would help with intrigue depending on the class or concept one is trying for....
Some of them are from 3.5 and would need a bit of updating to PF standard. As there are some nice hybrid PrCs for intrigue.

Looked through my old collection of D&D 3.X books and found two Rogue/Cleric PrCs that are Good aligned (The Shadowbane Inquistor and Shadowbane Stalker) They would require some updating, but could work with the intrigue that came in.
If one wants to be a Master Archer that can snipe and really put on some damaging shots on your targets, there is the Order of the Bow It would need some updating, but the update could include stuff to handle the intrigue.

Listed in D&D Tools

It's also in Sword and Fist: A Guidebook to Monks and Fighters variant, p. 32

PrCs can be a nice reward to look forward to,
but you gotta put some effort into meeting the requirements,
which generally make sense for the PrC, but can also be annoying.
Luckily with being a ranger and gaining feats faster than in 3rd,by 5 level I should have the needed feats to qualify to take it from level 6

PrCs are definitely for NPCs. That's why it's so annoying to get into them.
