Guardian gains a moment of clarity, stating
It is time to end this.
The circuit patterns across his shell glow bright white as he holds his deep purple blade high above his head before slashing down strongly at the creature.
[standard] attack (nanite surge, power attack)
shadow weapon attack (nanite surge, power attack), slashing damage (power attack): 1d20 + 5 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (13) + 5 + 4 - 1 = 212d6 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (5, 5) + 6 + 2 = 18

Nice rolls, Guardian XI! :-D That should be the end of the creature...
Not that I think it would matter right now, but Vreekka has some knowledge to spread: Power Attack adds +3 damage (instead of +2) if you use a two-handed weapon. ;-)

GM Shadow Dragon |

Guardian XI's shadowblade strikes true! The powerful cut, combined with the various other wounds the creature has taken, are simply too much for it to withstand and it slumps over dead.
With the room now gone quiet Dr. Quolorum asks from the cave entry, "Is it safe to come in yet?"
Combat is over!

Cannoli is focused on Guardian XI, ”I didn’t know you could glow, that’s awesome! Have any other fun tricks? Other than chopping stuff in two, of course.”
Off handedly she answers the Doctor’s question while poking the android’s glowing veins, ”Sure Doc, totally safe. Zero monsters and no possible sanity risk from whatever thingy in here created or attracted or controlled the creature that attacked us, come on in!”

GM Shadow Dragon |

Dr. Quolorum enters the cave and begins darting to and fro, setting up equipment, collecting samples, gathering readings, and talking so fast none of you can possibly keep up with what he's saying.
When someone (probably Cannoli) slows him down a bit he takes a deep breath just in time since his face was turning purple from lack of oxygen and slowly says, "I cannot thank you all enough. This...thing...is er was certainly the source of the phenomena. Look at the etheric compasses."
Dr. Quolorum shows them to the party and what used to be pointing, whirling compasses now lay dormant. Almost sheepishly, but definitely hopeful, he asks you all, "Is there any possibility you strapping youngsters could haul that creature back to Rozenport? Once we get it there we can identify and study it, see what it is, how it did what it did, and if there are any more of them around."

"I can help with that." offers Victor. "Although first I need to retrieve my bardiche from the bottom of the chasm and also take a look at the other things I found down there."
He heads back down the rope to retrieve his weapon and investigate the other items he found.
Victor will investigate the bottom of the chasm both visually and also with detect magic. He will also try and spellcraft the necklace and damaged gloves he spotted...
Spellcraft + guidance (necklace): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 5 + 1 = 21
Spellcraft + guidance (gloves): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 5 + 1 = 17

GM Shadow Dragon |

Victor descends to the bottom of the chasm and finds his bardiche, the gloves, the necklace, and a robe that seems interesting.
Victor knows the three items are magical Assuming he's going to try to identify the robes as well. but can't quite determine what they are.
Missed the DCs on the first two items and you can roll for the robe but it will be a tough get for Victor due to the DC being 15+CL to identify magic items.

Spellcraft + guidance (robe): 1d20 + 5 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 1 = 20
Once he has gathered up all of the interesting items Victor heads back up the rope which he then coils back up and places in his backpack.

Quinn carefully cleans the creature's gooey innards from the blade of his sword cane. You've still got it, old man! he thinks, chuffed with his performance in the combat compared to his abominable climbing earlier. "Alright folks, let's finish up here and get back to civilisation, where the monsters are human."

GM Shadow Dragon |

See Discussion for my latest request for assistance: Reporting this Quest and I forgot (and didn't write down) how to start the threads for the 2 tables I'm running for Gameday XIII.
Dr. Quolorum regains his focus from his information gathering to address the group, "Since you're carrying the remains of this creature to the Sincomakti School of Sciences the arcane studies staff will gladly determine what those items do. I would also like my colleagues to join me and we can run tests on you to study the long-term effects of exposure to the creature’s attacks - if any. It was certainly a powerful entity."

Cannoli pokes a sharp claw into Quinn’s chest, ”Oho reaaaaly? How come only humans can be monsters?!? What about talented catfolk, huh? Speciest.”
She turns away in a huff, attempting to hide her smile.

Doh, I forgot about the 2-handed specifics.

Cannoli is focused on Guardian XI, ”I didn’t know you could glow, that’s awesome! Have any other fun tricks? Other than chopping stuff in two, of course.”
Oh, that. He remarks nonchalantly. It's due to the intensity of the nanites in my shell activating all at once to drive enormous power to my actions. I can't do it very often. Other than that and my shadow blade...
He lets it dissipate into thin air.
No, I do not have other "tricks."

![]() |

Essentially yes. But it expends the energy of the nanites that can be deployed from my shell. I think you have similar capabilities? I think it's called adrenaline. You pick your spots, no?

![]() |

”That was a very precise strike, Guardian. Well done! That... thing was certainly a challenge for us.”
Vreekka is visibly relieved that the creature was defeated and combat is over.

The android frowns pitiably at Daegon and remarks Maybe one day you will gain control of it. lol naive android

![]() |

Cannoli points out the obvious, ”Or you could just constantly be under distress and thus always full of adrenaline.”

Cannoli gets back to the Doctor’s side, ”I’m happy to let you run some tests and help out a bit more, but only if you are interested in a bit of a stronger alliance. I think my organization and you have mutual interests.”
Attempting first box of three of a FJC on the Doc, if it counts.
And….
Maybe also the following?
Fulfill one of the three goals above without revealing your faction affiliation to anyone other than a present member of the faction or a prospective NPC recruit. Checking a box for this goal does not prevent you from checking a box for another goal.
Diplomacy DC 15: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
