I swear by Asmodeus that this is totally coincidence. It's supposed to be 'free roam' but your own actions lead you to this chain of events.

Would you like to visit the Inkwell next? Or visit another location? Or do you want to go back to Gold Street to purchase information for more potential leads?

I was hoping to give others a chance to weigh in on the next move.

"I believe her name is 'Amalia' good Ling. We need to take care or we might end up procuring information on the wrong person."

![]() |

"Indeed, let us go. This 'Inkwell' should prove most interesting.
Apologies - I'm setting an alarm for this game - for some reason I find it incredibly hard to remember to check. Too long away from the boards I guess.

"The Inkwell sounds good to me."

GM_Colin |

After the some of the Pathfinders finish their business with Phelerosa, the team leave Docktown and head uphill to visit the Inkwell.
A former fortress on the north seafront, the stonework Inkwell inn is home to rowdy, defiant, impassioned revolutionaries who fill its commons while making plans to harry the town’s Loyalists and discourage the Chelish navy. Chankings, the inn’s noisy iron golem bouncer, keeps watch at the open doors. The chelish inkkeeper greets you as you walk in: "Welcome to Lorrin Meese’s Inkwell. Come to see our newest show in town!" and hands you a flyer.

"We also have signed chapbooks of Amalia Wraxton's verses for sale, for those who would like to be enlightened."

@GM: If allowed I'll have Kageryu take 10 on Perception for 17. If he can't let me know and I'll roll it.

![]() |

Take 10 is fine
Thanks! :)
Turning to his fellow 'students' Kageryu says, "What fortuitous timing. It appears the poet referenced in the flyer is Jaks Arunai. Perhaps we should see if we can confirm this information?"
If anyone has Diplomacy to Gather Info; Kageryu can try to aid with his -1.

![]() |

"I agree. Look here..."
Kaervek hides the writing on the flyer with his hand - save the first letter of each row and discretely shows it to the others.
It reads: O L A N D I L.
"Sounds familiar?"

Ling is suitable impressed by the findings. "It does look like this play is a must see."
Shall we gather information while we are here?

That's what I was thinking but we need the Diplomatic crowd (or at least anyone without a Cha penalty heh) to Gather Information. I have no idea but maybe the barter goods will help 'grease the wheels' here too?

GM_Colin |

It would be weird to walk in a Inn and start distributing trade goods to the crowd...people might mistake you for an communist.
Try asking the innkeeper instead? It's not like you haven't done it back in the Auntie's

Lol that's what I was suggesting but now your post makes me think about doing it that way hehe.

The innkeeper raise two fingers for the price of a chapbooks. 2 pound or 20gp equivilant of trade good

Kageryu will exchange the requested trade goods to the innkeeper after Misgund works his 'magic' with words.
"Perhaps you can assist us with the information our friend requested?"
Diplomacy Aid - Not a chance!: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10

GM_Colin |

We have a successfully aid, now we're just waiting for someone to actually ask about Jaks Arunai, or Olandil

![]() |

[dice=perception]1d20+2 Tuke will look around, but sees nothing.
Could he try to Aid to Diplomacy? We might need a good roll and most of us can't even aid lol.

I may be wrong, but I think that Ling, with a +0 diplomacy, has the highest diplomacy skill in the party. So, make your new face welcome!
diplomacy: 1d20 ⇒ 16
"What do you know about Jaks Arunai and Amalia Wraxton? I know they are famous, but I don't know much else."

![]() |

Migsund sidles up the bar, taking a moment to figure out what the Innkeeper seems most proud of and then complimenting it, before adding, "Und yes, please tell us, ve are most excited for the upcoming performance."
ConservativeDiplomacy-to-Aid: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Probably little difference between doing an Aid and rolling separately, so just aiding. Edit: Conservative makes that a 15+6=21 for kicks, but just +2 aid, for 20 total for Ling.
Migsund also carefully makes notes about the team to pass on to the Grand Lodge, with recommendations for additional social training.

GM_Colin |

The innkeeper answers: "Jaks Arunai you say? I only knows him as a relatively new poet aligned with the White Thistles. You see, I'm a fan of the arts and I am happy to help promote any event, so that's why I'm passing out his flyers. While everyone are welcome in the Inkwell, I do finds the ideals of the White Thistles to be most inspiring. The quill IS mightier than the sword."
"Amalia Wraxton? No one seems to know where she is, but the White Whistles still think of her as their leader. She did leave behind quite a lots of literature, though."

![]() |

I thought I looked his roll up and saw a negative or I would have let Migsund do the face thing. Next time!
"Oh, may we see the other literature?"

GM_Colin |

"Most of her poems are in this chapbooks. It's the plays that she wrote that're most influential, and have became the inspiration of many White Whistle. That, you have to go to the theater for. You know what? You guys looks like some open-minded people. You can have her chapbook at half price. (that's 10gp/1lb of good)"
That seems to be all that the innkeeper knows. You think Major Maldris Colson would be glad to read about Amalia Wraxton's poem.(That's Liberty Edge's mission)
Today is Monday (or the Golarion equivalent of), and the Jaks Arunai's play is on Wednesday (or the Golarion equivalent of). You think you have enough time to visit one more place before the day goes dark. Where would you guys like to go?

![]() |

@GM: I have no problems spending the barter goods for the chapbook. I'll let everyone else weigh in. I think this was one of stops we were going to visit:
"I think we should get something to eat before going back to our studies for the evening. Perhaps a trip to Madge's Noodle Cart for her acclaimed noodles?"

![]() |

Thank you very much. Culture and the Arts is also highly respected where I come from Tempestas pays the innkeeper and is soon engrossed in the chapbook. Only the mention of noodles makes him look up.
Incidentally, he's rather short and stocky - more like the stature of a dwarf but not quite that short

![]() |

"Food would be welcome, though I prefer to eat my meals somewhere more private than in an inn. Let's see if we can get a table that is out of the way."

![]() |

"Wonderful, thank you innkeeper! Thiz should keep us most entertained between our lessons." Migsund nods to the other's suggestion of the Noodle cart and offers to buy the first round of noodles.
FWIW, Sunday, Moonday, Toilday, Wealday, Oathday, Fireday, Starday.

GM_Colin |

You follow the amazing smells and find the food cart by the waterfront.
“Noodles! Madge got yer doodly oodly noodles! Get these crabby shrimpy noodlies in a bowl! In a cup! In yer hands! I don’t care where! Buy my dang noodles! Save Pezzack! The end is near! Save your noodles! The devil hates my noodles! Abrogail hates my noodles! Madge’s noodles!”
Old Madge goes on and on about her amazing noodles as a particularly knobby-headed goblin wearily pushes her creaking, rickety cart along the waterfront.
For a big scoop of her signature seafood noodles, it's 5gp worth of trade good. However, it looks like you have to prepare your own container for the noodles though. Fortunately, there're enough bowl-shape object in the common goods you're carrying that can be used to serve the noodle.
When she sees you guys, old Madge aggressively shoves sheaves of paper onto you. "Got some poetry here, bring them to Poppo for old Madge please!" The papers are filled with nonsense poetry.
There is a secret message hidden within the poetry. It reads:
Poppo: I will suggest Jack's identity to confuse the crowd on Wealday and evac by Whaler’s Point guts exit.

![]() |

Kaervek renews prestidigitation just in case the noodles needs some 'jazzing up'. When he gets handed the papers Kaervek answers Old Madge: "Ok, but only after we have eaten. I'm quite hungry!"
He invites his fellow pathfinders to a late lunch (or an early dinner) and pays with some of his trade goods. "Guys, who wants a scoop of noodles? Order here, it's on me."
While eating the old elf takes a look at the nonsense poetry.
Take 10 Linguistics t: 10 + 10 = 20
"What do we have here? Iambic pentameter, but doesn't rhyme at all. Hm... oh. That's interesting." He then lowers his voice and speaks: "I believe these ramblings contain a secret message for Poppo. I'll tell you later in private."
You may open the Linguistics spoiler.

![]() |

Ling gratefully accepts the noodle offer, not particularly curious about the note. But only because he is hungry. As soon as he finishes eating he asks in a low voice.
"Some kind of code?"

Kageryu nods to Kaervek and thanks Madge for the noodles, "These are as wonderful as we were told they would be."

"Time to return to our studies I think and perhaps some rest."
We're taking the path that we left the Academy, the "ladder to the Guts" from which Poppo had us leave.

GM_Colin |

The pathfinders returns to the Academy uneventfully after a full day of touring the town.
After hearing your report and looking at Madge's 'poems', Poppo suggests that Olandil might have found something on the bottom of Fat Harbor(a.k.a Docktown area) valuable or powerful enough to win his freedom from Pezzack. Poppo siad that he has no idea what that would be, but he begs you to attend the performance on Wealday in case it’s Olandil posing as Jaks.
The team rest up, and wake up to Toilday. Olandil or Jak Arunai's performance is still a day away. Would you like to visit anywhere else in the town for potentially more information, revisit some of the places for potentially new discovery, or do you guys just want to stay inside and play cards to kill time (and fast forward to Wednesday)?

GM_Colin |

Poppo nods: "With that many broken ships piling on each other in the Docktown, they're bound to lose an item or two to the water. Yes, gravity will implies that such item sunk under the water."

![]() |

I'm strong swimmer - tempted to swim down and have a look. But that many ships - could be dangerous
"Not to mention whatever creatures are living in the shipwrecks now might not take kindly to intruders."
