Raindrop - Iceman |
Raindrop watches in rapt attention and gives Arfsnarf a little applause when he finishes.
Avery Wings |
"Makes sense..." Avery agrees with what Arsnarf has concluded, with all the details they have gathered. "How do we now confront them?"
Atae |
Do you think it is wise if we send our suspicions to our superiors and then confront the acolytes? she inquires
GM Tiger |
Well, you could do a Poirot-type move and gather everyone together and confront them all :)
Arfsnarf Ah'sneeze |
Let's just get everyone together and make big announcement! Ms. Heidmarch will appreciate dramatic tension no doubt! Arfsnarf sagely advises.
Raindrop - Iceman |
You good with that, Arfsnarf? Otherwise, Raindrop could come off the bench.
I assume assists would be allowed?
Arfsnarf Ah'sneeze |
3 people marked this as a favorite. |
Arfsnarf, previously smiling and jovial "switches on" to Serious Biznis mode when all relevant parties are gathered. Once the last one arrives he launches into it aggressively.
There are some people in this estate who would have been very happy to never see the large bag again. There are people in this room who think they can destroy other people's magical protections and get away with it. Well, let me tell you something about those people. They weren't counting on this brain! And that... heavy bag! Sound familiar?
He turns towards Ingrit and Tagheema.
YOU TWO! Many witnesses saw you hauling said large bag into Eurythnia house. I won't name names! Tagheema, I know you owe the Mendesil Loans company. I bet they put the squeeze on? How about you Ingrit? Separate money problems or helping your friend? Or maybe Tagheema has dirt on you to force you to help! Don't try pinning it on Tiki. We love harmless nerds! They awkward, but productive!
He flashes Tiki a warm smile. Arfsnarf spins on one heel, plants his other foot and points to the sky triumphantly.
It was Ingrit and Tagheema in Eurythnia house with the heavy bag! Admit it you two! Goblins are born with perpetual zone of truth!
Intimidation: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (19) + 13 = 32
Zone of truth Lie, Deception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22 Just some extra nonsense, thankfully the intimidate roll was pretty strong.
Accepting all aid!
GM Tiger |
Now THAT was awesome!! :)
At Arfsnarf's words, both Ingrit and Tagheema break down in tears and confess it all. "We're sorry! We tried to lay the blame on Tiki! We stole her vulture and stuffed it full of explosives."
At this Tiki burst out "So it was you! I thought this was another hazing so I didn't bother reporting it"
"We met this guy, Krosovahn, who seems to want to punish and humiliate the Pathfinder Society as much as possible. He said he'd clear out our gambling debts. Yes, we've been sneaking out at night and betting on the horses. Krosovahn's pale with dark oily hair and he's got some obsession with New Thassilon. He's got a tattered flag from there tied around his arm. He said he'd meet us later at some bar in Dockway known as the Old Fang."
Both novices notice the threads Rysk is holding and confirm that those match the flag around Krosovahn's arm.
Sheila Heidmarch refuses to let the two novices go to their meeting, remarking to them sternly, "We'll handle you two later. For now, you have a lab to clean." She waves her arm and Wumbrout Brios arrives with a set of mops, brooms, and other cleaning equipment which he shoves at Ingrit and Tagheema before escorting them to Eurythnia House.
The Heidmarchs request that you investigate the Old Fang in lieu of the two novices.
"You'd best be on your guard. It's about an hour's journey from here."
Any final prep before you leave?
Arfsnarf gets a shiny hero point for a masterful performance!
Arfsnarf Ah'sneeze |
Arfsnarf gets a shiny hero point for a masterful performance!
Ty :)
Ah, so you sending us to bar fight! I suppose it time we stretched our muscles.
No preparations
Khaul Irontoe |
Khaul rolls his shoulders. As he does so his shield creaks ominously. "Yes, yes. We'll make sure no innocents get hurt Myrsa." he mutters to it.
Raindrop - Iceman |
Raindrop sticks her tiny tongue out at the two culprits as they are led away.
Refocusing on the Heidmarchs, she tries to think if she's heard of the person or place, before prepping herself to depart.
+11 Society for RK?
Also, did they have the missing wayfinder on them?
Avery Wings |
No prep for Avery. Society +11 to Rk as well about the tattered flag?
"Let's keep moving. We might learn more out from this incident."
Khaul Irontoe |
Assuming I've done my preparations and have lay on hands back, I'm good to go.
GM Tiger |
Water laps against the walls of this Dockway landmark. A weathered sign depicting the open maw of a swamp barracuda marks the now abandoned Old Fang tavern. Barnacles cover this former taproom below the waterline, while peeling white paint graces the exterior above.
The double doors at the front of the tavern appears to be boarded shut.
The map is posted. You can approach from either side
GM Tiger |
Well, if either novice had the Wayfinder on them, this adventure would be over... nope. They don't have it :)
"Flag? Oh! Krosovahn's obsessed with New Thassilon. He wears their flag around his arm for whatever reason."
Khaul Irontoe |
"Wonderful. A wizard craving the sins of old. Did he have any of th' runes he be especially keen on? " asks Khaul.
"Sloth if he be into callin the genie.. or perhaps lust if it is th' bindin that is most to his fancy."
He approaches the main boarded up doors and inspects them, to see how well secured they really are.
Avery Wings |
With her shortbow ready, she follows the champion.
"Would it not be suspicious to them if we enter this way that fact that this door is boarded up shut?" she asks the same champion.
"Or surprising them with a kick on those doors might be a good idea." she winks.
Atae |
The cleric matter of factly replies to the the dwarf There is nothing wrong with lust and from my understanding Sorshen is not as lustful as she once was.
Arfsnarf Ah'sneeze |
Yeah, we kicking them in, right? Spells a-blazing? Arfsnarf asks eagerly.
Rysk Ysoki |
"That's going to make a lot of noise and tip them off. I doubt they tear down the doors every time they want to enter. We should look for another way in."
Rysk will start searching for another way in that doesn't require destruction.
Khaul Irontoe |
Khaul eyes up the door.
"I kin likely kick it down. But if yer want to check around the side. There be another way into here for sure."
Arfsnarf Ah'sneeze |
Arfsnarf looks a little disappointed but he follows the others around to the side entrance.
Maybe once we get to side door, I use ventriloquism ring to make voices back at front door?
Avery Wings |
Avery shrugs but follows the ysoki, anyway.
"That would be a neat trick," she tells Arfsnarf. "Let's confuse them that we are at the front, when in truth we are really hiding somewhere."
GM Tiger |
You detect magic on the side doors. White marks on the map
The White marks on the map are visible to Atae only
You notice a rune on the door. It's faint and you can barely see it, but it's there. You don't know what it does, but it can't be good...
Arfsnarf Ah'sneeze |
Arfsnarf squints at the side door as they approach it.
DC24 Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
Seems fine! Who good at opening doors quietly. We peek inside? Then I send voices back to front door.
GM Tiger |
Am I the only one that can see the runes on the door or can anyone who if I point them out.
They're magical auras, so, no.
Khaul Irontoe |
per DC24: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25 Or do I need to be expert in perception as well?
Raindrop - Iceman |
perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22
Rainbow glances around the side of the building and then shrugs noncommittally. "I'm pretty sneaky. Comes naturally," she whispers with a wink
GM Tiger |
[dice=per DC24]1d20+11 Or do I need to be expert in perception as well?
Needs expert at least
Avery Wings |
DC 24 Perception (Expert): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (7) + 14 = 21
Avery notices nothing unusual so far.
Atae |
After having detected magic she sees the places that no one else can. Her sharp elven eyes point out where the rune is.
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (9) + 16 = 25 perception
GM Tiger |
Just verifying that you're at least Expert in Perc
Disabling the rune:
DC 22 Thievery (expert) to erase the rune without triggering the sensor
Dispel Magic (3rd lvl; DC 20 to counteract)
Arfsnarf Ah'sneeze |
Arfsnarf notices his companions hesitating at the door.
What everybody else see?
Avery Wings |
"Looks like a normal door to me." Avery shrugs but is hesitant to open it first.
Khaul Irontoe |
Khaul snarls at the door. "You want me to kick it in, or shall we look around the back? Surely there will be another way in."
Arfsnarf Ah'sneeze |
IF Khaul proceeds with kicking the door in, Arfsnarf will use his ring of ventriloquism to create voices at the front door.
GM Tiger |
IF Khaul proceeds with kicking the door in, Arfsnarf will use his ring of ventriloquism to create voices at the front door.
Which door is Khaul planning to kick? Only the front door is boarded up (and thus would require a dwarf to charge at). The others don't appear to be locked.
Khaul Irontoe |
Khaul gestures to a side door.
"Any of you able to see if there are traps or alarms on that one?"
If nobody says anything, he will open it.
GM Tiger |
Am I the only one that can see the runes on the door or can anyone who if I point them out.
My bad. Somehow I misread it as the auras around the runes (which only the caster of Detect Magic can see)... Yes, Atae can point out the runes. Sorry about that.
Rysk sees the rune and scratches off a key segment, rendering the door safe.
Arfsnarf Ah'sneeze |
Arfsnarf's plan resumes with the run disabled. As soon as Khaul opens the door, he activates ventriloquism at the *front* door (DC19).
Raindrop - Iceman |
With the door open, Raindrop and her eidolon slip inside.
Stealth Raindrop: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (16) + 14 = 30
Stealth Eidolon: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23
