The protean (alpha) fighting the male lashunta strike out once again attempting to coordinate with Brock.
It speaks in an eerie otherworldly voice but in the common tongue.
"No, now you die!"
Bite, Flank vs KAC: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 2 = 18
Damage, Piercing: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
If the attack hits KAC+4 then Red is grappled.
------
The protean (beta) in combat with the female lashunta screams out as the hook knife connects with its body but it is far from dead. It lashes out at her attempting to bite her.
Bite vs KAC: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Damage, Piercing: 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
If the attack hits KAC+4 then Blue is grappled.
-------
George's summoning spell finishes and another protean appears. This one (gamma) is much smaller (tiny) and it flies towards the female lashunta.
Bite, Flank vs KAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Damage, Piercing: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
If the attack hits KAC+4 then Blue is grappled.
@DM Kludde - Tiny creatures without reach provoke an attack of opportunity when they enter another creature's square to attack. If a creature has the grappled condition (hopefully now) the creature cannot make this attack of opportunity.
--------
Delea tries to end the fight (at least with the male). She sends out powerful thought waves intending to fry his mind.
Mind Thrust, Will DC 17 for half damage: 4d10 ⇒ (3, 6, 7, 7) = 23

George 09-23 feels that the tide of the battle is turning but also that this is their final battle of the mission. He reaches deep into himself and casts yet another spell.
Summon Creature I has begun.

AbadarCorp Entertainment |
Shokil hits the Lashunta in the shoulder, who look at the sniper in disgust, and react just too late to avoid the curved blade of Brock, who cuts down the Vanguard. The man collapses into a puddle of blood.
The protean latches onto the female on the walkway, while Delea makes her scream out in subconscious agony.

Darkrunner didn't take his turn but seems un-bolded? I presume that's a mistake. Here it is anyway :)
Now on the walkway, Darkrunner rushes around the walkway towards his target, continuing the attempted distraction with digital effects.

Nikko and Darkrunner decide they've had it with the lashunta on the walkway. Nikko hits the woman straight in the chest, causing her clothing to catch on fire, after which darkrunne hits the woman in the face. Burning brightly, she raises an arm as if to cast another spell, but only manages a scream as the flames consume her.
Combat over!
George 09-23 |
George 09-23 sensed that the battle was turning but was not expecting it to end so abruptly. He completes his summoning spell and summons a tiny aeon (instead of another protean) to study the mechanism and communicate back to him in images. He commands his small contingent of proteans to strip the two lashuntas of their loot.
"Good job everyone but now we need to find out what these two were up to and shut it down permanently."
"There must be records here of exactly what is in that device and how to neutralise it. I doubt that these two were our mad chemists!"
George 09-23 is still invisible
@DM Kludde - What type of skill check is required to understand what is inside the vat?
AbadarCorp Entertainment |
Culture, Mysticism and Physical Science all work here
AbadarCorp Entertainment |
From his previous inspection of the large chamber, Nikko guesses that this is a smelter of sort - one consuming the ancient relics, and processing them into a kind of molten, greenish metal.
Everybody is also experiencing a hint of an onsetting headache, a very faint feeling in the background...
Nikko Fifty-Niner |
While trained in all the skills mentioned, Nikko's best lies in their appreciation of various cultures.
Culture: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (2) + 13 = 15
But shrugs, as they don't really know what's going on here.
Brock Laserforge |
Culture: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
If this counts as recall knowledge, I do have a library chip I can reference for another +4 on top of that
Seeing that the proteans are looting the bodies, Brock is able to devote enough attention to somewhat pay attention to what's going on with the vat. He glances over the equipment they're pulling out, calling out to make sure everyone knows what's available.
Feeling a bit of a headache coming on, he quickly checks his radiation badge to make sure it isn't showing anything. He checks his armor to be sure the environmental seal integrity is holding, and calls out, "Anyone else feelin' a little off?"
George 09-23 |
@DM Kludde - My character did not enter the room. He was (is) outside summoning creatures. Does he have a headache as well?
The aeon flies by the vat and shares his thoughts telepathically with Brock.
Aid, DC 10, Culture: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
George 09-23 shares what he knows as well (auto-aid on Culture for Brock).
Alright Brock add +4 to your culture check. :)
AbadarCorp Entertainment |
You guys are all protected by environmental seals, so no debilitating effect. The headache feeling is just for narrative flavor, really
Brock recognises the weapon that the male lashunta was using as an Ulumbian relic. He also recognises the green stuff from earlier starfinder reports: that must be Finitrium metal, a rare starmetal that causes headaches upon prolonged exposure.
Do you guys want to explore the rest of the building?
Shokil |
Shokil looks around. "We should look around and see what else we can find.."
George 09-23 |
George 09-23 nods.
"Yes, we need to find out what their plan was beyond distributing this starmetal gas. Also how are they connected to the organization?"
"Hopefully we will find a paper or electronic trail to help us."
Nikko Fifty-Niner |
"Should we collect a sample of the green stuff as well?" Nikko ponders, wondering it it even can be transported in its current state.
Darkrunner-42 |
We should take some for completeness of our report, but it will continue to affect our minds. However, we train for this!
Thinking further on what they've found he remarks Interesting that we find a new "green" substance, instead of noqual. It just goes to show, there is always something new to uncover and study.
Darkrunner comes down from the catwalk and suggests the proceed through the double doors to the Northwest.
This way?
AbadarCorp Entertainment |
Let's say about a minute has passed searching the Lashuntas - summoned creatures would have vanished again, but invisibility may still be active
Two exploration buggies are parked in the middle of this garage. Racks on the west wall hold a variety of heavy digging equipment, tools for servicing the vehicles, and motorcycle helmets. Large garage doors exit north to Blanchet Street. The light above the double door is also flashing red here.

Brock's armor absorbs the impact of the energy beam. "What the ..." Seeing that they're animals, Brock holds out a hand and says, "Here, doggie doggie ... be ni--" Then return fire begins and he shrugs, "Well, so much for befriending the beasties."
He saunters into the room, drawing his taclash as he does so. He moves through the far door, so the dog under the nearest car can't get a nip at him, and lashes out at the dog with the taclash.

@DM Kludde/Brock - I will need to know if a short rest was taken before the door was opened as it will influence my character's actions. My take on it is if a player acts, then he acts. So IMO the door would have been opened and combat would be triggered before the short rest. DM Kludde will need to rule. :)

Shokil doesn't hesitate, and make the dog bleed for its assault, while Brock's lash clips the buggy and just barely misses the monster. Nikko tries to identify what these creatures are... not regular dogs, that's for sure. He hits the nearest one with an arcing pulse.

Welcome back, Delea! The group has just defeated two Lashuntas who were shoveling ancient relics into some sort of smelting device that produced a greenish metal, which seems to be Finitrium, the headache-inducing starmetal. We've now moved on to a garage that has two vicious dog-like creatures in there. I'll let Brock answer on his status, but I'll also advance the round and give you two actions.

I'm fine. Another hit from the lashunta would have taken me into hit point damage, but he never got the chance to get me there. :) Just took some new SP damage, though
GM: Another quick question - you said the weapon the male lashunta had was an Ulumbian relic. What sort of weapon was it? And does that mean that was the only equipment that either of them had? No blasters or anything? We can sort that out after the battle, of course.
