The solemn ranger stands to the side, listening intently.
The tall, dark human man with a dark weathered cloak and a longbow and quiver on his back. He has a habit of observing conversations, studying the comments made as if unaccustomed to civilized gatherings. If he speaks at all, he speaks with a thick Varisian accent. He wears a holy symbol of Desna around his neck.
He makes a comment to himself, not sure or caring who may overhear his murmurings.
”Zhe location of zhis fort has undoubtedly zeen many adventurers over zhe years.
He orders another pale ale from the the bar keep while he awaits the others.

The monkey-like man, tail and all, stands tall, looking proud, as he stops to survey the group. His purple robes, and skullcap, make him stand out even more.
Greetings to you all! I am Monkey Boy, the Humble One. Though you my have heard of my military past, I need no salutes. Though you may have read of my adventures in the Chronicles, I need no admiration. I will not boast of my martial prowess, or my ability to protect those next to me. That would be shameful. I am pleased to be here for whatever awaits us. I hope you will all have a chance to shine as bright as I will.
Please let me know if this RP is grating. I try to be funny, and it's my way of RPing 8 Charisma.
Would any of the casters among you be able to use some items for me? I'll need my Mage Armor wand used as much as possible, and could anyone cast these Frigid Touch scrolls into my bracers, and my amulet?
He turns to an incredibly non-descript man behind him.
This is my porter. Given my strength, I don't really need him. If others wish to reduce their load, take advantage of Jack, here.
The man pipes up.
John, sir.
Right.

An elven female of indeterminate age glides into the room, smoothly taking a chair. She pulls out knitting needles and begins knitting on a piece of fabric as she looks up and smiles. ”Greetings everyone. I’m Tessara, but you can call me ‘Tess,’” she says as her hands fly back and forth. With a flash of the sleeve of her robe, a tiny monkey could be seen poking its head out and looking around. ”Oh, this is my friend, Zariah.”
Korin Rosenthal |
A tall masculine figure, clad in shiny full plate, sits quietly in the corner with a book in his hand. A long adamantine polearm leans against him, and a flying metallic creature hovers next to his shoulder. The helmet turns and nods to Roland and the Vanara.
Korin's Quidditch |
"Salutations, esteemed Pathfinders and Seekers. I am Quidditch, the inevitable attendant in the service of Korin from the Rosenthal lineage. My master, a practitioner of the witcher's craft and a dedicated monster-hunter, possesses unparalleled expertise. Anything short of a former venture captain turned demon lies within the realm of my master's specialized knowledge and capabilities."

I am not all zhat familiar with zhe lands far from here. I have traveled some, both before joining zhe Society and more since.

It is an honor to travel with each of you.
Kahwen |
It is difficult, at first, to determine the ancestry and gender of the person who comes in quickly but late. A tricornered hat with one long, colorful plume and one very short, dull brown one covers the head and shadows the face. An oversized sea coat with sleeves that are clearly too long tucked into massive pockets and a hem that reaches down to their calves hides their body.
Only when he doffs his hat and bows low at the waist until his torso is parallel to the ground, his right hand holding his hat to his chest, his left held out perpendicular to his body, does it become evident that this is a male tengu.
A curved blade almost as long as he is tall is strapped to his back, there is the dull shine of mithral at his collar under his coat and his boots are a bit too well kept to be anything but brand new or magical but he doesn't seem to have many other provisions about him.
"Greetings, companions! I am Kahwen. I look forward to assisting you in this mission," he eagerly says.
Kahwen |
Done.
Kahwen looks around the room at the bottom of the stairs, drawing his long bladed sword.
He focuses on the door that he can see but keeps a wary eye out for an ambush.
Korin's Quidditch |
Quidditch will use the wand of Shield Other on Korin.
Quidditch will stay by Korin's shoulder by default. I will put its token in when it need to go somewhere.

The corridor past the stairs is ringed in glowing, shattered red glass set into the walls. Beyond lies a wide, rectangular chamber studded with ten-foot-high black cylinders rising out of the floor. Each is joined to a smaller pole by a plate of transparent crystal inset with silver wires. The floor is inlaid with a bewildering array of geometric shapes and gold wires in straight lines and precise angles.
Two large creatures (image on map) order you to stop and talk to them.

"Oh, greetings. Nice place you have here," Kahwen says, and gives the two creatures a bow.
He looks to the other members of the team, hoping one of them is better at talking to people than he is. He always gets tongue tied.

These zelekuts, noticing that you are speaking to them respectfully, explain that they are inevitables, trying to keep the forces of chaos on the floor underneath under control. They are battling for control of the level with a group of proteans. If you will agree to take the side of the inevitables in the conflict and fight the proteans, they will allow you past, as will all the other inevitables on the level.
I'm fine with out of character discussion as to which side to take in the conflict, but please do so in the out of character thread. Because this is a big decision, I will try to allow enough time for everyone to contribute.
Korin's Quidditch |
Sorry about that
Arbiters are the scouts and spies of the inevitables, and are typically bound to serve as familiars to lawful spellcasters, especially those who fight the taint of protean chaos.

Not seeing any traps or locks, the party enters the chosen room.
The walls of this stone room are covered with shelves holding a wide variety of wires, crystals, cogs, and what look like severed wings or limbs made of clockwork.
