Katswiri |
Katswiri wastes no time in beginning to cast spells. "I'll fix it after things calm down, I've been meaning to get a scroll of make whole to use with my menumonic vestments." Katswiri finishes get gestures, touching herself to enchant herself with Eagle's Splendor. She pulls a shield out of her handy haversack.
"Carlin, can I get a Mage Armor spell?" Katswiri casts a second spell, and the group feels a sense of divine favor as she finishes casting Bless before strapping her shield to her arm.
+4 CHA for Katswiri, +1 Morale bonus to hit for everyone.
Janus Grey |
The two Januses nod in unison, acknowledging Alli's salute.
"We could attempt to use your wand, Beryx, but Carlin may be more adept."
Janus sees to their own injury.

Above and around you, the battle rages. Another dragon sees the corpse of the one you fell and lets out a roar of anger as it starts to dive towards you.
Carlin Ember |
You're a peach, Alli!Carlin says as she gets put a wand and protects Kat with a magic suit of armour.
Well, here we go again...spread out! will cast mage armour on Kat then myself before combat. Im on my phone...can someone move me to show spreading out? Ty!
phaeton_nz |
You basically have this round to attack, prep etc before the dragon does it's thing
Janus Grey |
"We have no more tanglefoot bags. But Carlin is right. Mobility is key to our victory."
Janus casts Expeditious Retreat, end uses their enhanced speed to enter the Irorium floor. They maintain one hand on their flail, and pull one of a pair of javelins from a sheath on their back.
Cast, move, draw as part of move.
Is this next dragon Large btw?
Katswiri |
I moved Carlin for spreading out a bit, while staying in Katswiri's Elemental Ward.
Katswiri stays near Beryx, healing him of more of the acid burns before the dragon swoops in.
Cure Light Wounds: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Alli Fairen |
"Whoa. This one looks a tad larger than the one before." Alli hops down to the arena while keeping her eyes on the draconic shape looming before her. Even if I can find a hole in its scales, this measly stick is a bit short. She takes a look at Janus's twin weapon and steels herself. "Help coming up!"
The halfling grasps a tarnished bronze coin hanging from a thin silvery chain and mumbles a couple of words in Jistkan while touching the coin to the buckles of her armored jacket. A flicker of bronze light emanates from the coin, forming a circle, then vanishing.

Rhu Entekh |
DM, what's the distance from the arena floor to the lowest level of the stands, and where is the closest access to the floor from the party?
phaeton_nz |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
If you use the measurements for the Colosseum in Rome - that should be about right.
The dragon (medium sized) swoops in and tries to catch as many of you in it's acid line as possible. Janus, Rhu and Ember are caught in the beam.
acid: 6d6 ⇒ (2, 2, 1, 4, 4, 4) = 17 ref DC 17 for half
It then turns around to face those still in the stands.
Everyone is up.

Katswiri gestures at the dragon, and a loud *BOOM* cuts through the cacophony of battle as sound blasts the dragon.

GM Ladile |
**House GM Announcement**
The attacks die down, and all serious threats are driven out of the Irorium and onto the streets. The eerie pillar of light still shoots skyward from somewhere on the Grand Lodge’s grounds, and the citizens of the city stand in dumb awe of the spectacle. A group of Pathfinders, badly injured from the fighting, call to you as they limp along. "Hurry, get to the Lodge! It’s under attack!"
Getting there is easier said than done. Plotting a course toward the Grand Lodge proves simple enough, given the immense pillar of light streaking up into the night sky. The streets, however, are choked with panicked and fleeing citizens. Your race through the Foreign Quarter to the Grand Lodge brings you to a large market. Collapsed buildings, broken tents, and piles of debris torn from other nearby structures form a crude but effective-looking barricade across the center of the market square, blocking your progress.
______________
GMs, you may begin the Fire in the Streets encounter.
Janus Grey |
Reflex DC17: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 1 = 18
Katswiri's abjuration protects Janus from the second dragon's attack.
"It is fleeing. We must make haste to the Lodge now."
Janus recovers their crocodilian counterpart.
Looks like a chase scene ;)
Alli Fairen |
The pillar of light is too far to even dazzle anyone, but Alli still squints at it. "Now what? Is Charvion's contraption responsible for that as well?" She shakes her head and starts running. "Nevermind, it was a rhetoric question anyway."
Between breaths, she tries to look for opportunities to ease the pain of Rhu and Beryx, but it looks like there isn't any time to dawdle. We don't know how bad the situation back at the lodge is. Hesitation can be costly, but so is running straight into another ambush. Some festival.
Katswiri |
It looks like the Irorum and the Grand Lodge are both in the Foreign quarter, so not too far apart. How much time passes between the end of combat in the Irorum and getting to the market, for purposes of our buff spells?
phaeton_nz |
Quoting the Overseer GM - "In terms of timing and healing, the market is some nebulous distance between the Irorium and the Grand Lodge. You can use your own judgement how many minutes away it is, but it seems reasonable that groups would have a couple of rounds to heal before they set out across the city". So I'd say that ten minutes elapsed between then and now.
phaeton_nz |
As you approach the barrier, you are met by a volley of arrows from behind it and two goblin dogs appear.

magenta: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 Goblin Dog
Janus Grey is up first, followed by both goblins.
Janus Grey |
So we've had time to heal en route - but various buffs will have expired. Janus is content not to burn additional clw charges.
"An ambush. A crude one at that. We will seek the leader. We will remain to render aid."
Janus drops Janus Too at their feet, casts a spell, and vanishes.
Drop the croc, cast Invisibility, and move. I've made Janus' token more transparent, but put a border round it.
Janus aims to cross the battlefield and attack the cleric, but just shout if you need help. As long as those aren't Advanced Goblin Alchemists I reckon we'll be fine ;)
Katswiri |
Katswiri has a -4 initiative modifier, not a +4, so goes last.

Janus goes invisible.

The barricade is only a few feet tall (make perception checks) so it is possible to see the cleric peering over the top.

That actually hits the goblin.
phaeton_nz |
Heh --- forgot about that - yes you're right
Magenta dog double moves (runs) up to Alli, clearly intending to rip her face off.
The cleric moves away from the flaming ball and casts Create Water in an attempt to put it out.
Beryx, Katswirl and Janus are up followed by Red and Blue goblins.
Janus Grey |
Janus picks their way carefully through the marketplace, making for the enemy cleric. The ulfen watches the quarry's movements.
Move 30', Study Target v cleric. (Couldn't quite reach the cleric, looked like she was 65' away).
Janus Too |
Janus Too remains in hiding, though they twist their neck to keep their eyes on the mangy canines.
Delay - Beryx + Alli, just shout if you need a flank or an Aid and Janus Too will trot over to you.

Katswiri |
Katswiri begins gesturing. "Cleric. I will silence her to block spellcasting. Don't get too close to her if you need your own verbal spells."
Katswiri begins casting Silence, intending to target an object near the cleric when she completes her spell.
It is a 1 round casting time, so Katswiri will be casting for this whole round. If she isn't interrupted, it will fire off just before her next turn.

Alli Fairen |
Just as the goblin dog in front of Alli falls down and gets cleaved by Beryx's falchion, arrows come flying toward the halfling woman. First one hits a pauldron, but fortuoisly is deflected away. Thanks, Chaldira. The snap startles the halfling woman to take a reflexive step back, and the second arrow falls to ground where her foot was.
Now armed, Alli brings the sword to guard position and steps back toward the fray while keeping her eyes on the second goblin dog. It's torn between the bigger Beryx as a threat and little me as a snack. When it next turns toward him... She lunges the moment the mangy critter hesitates between its targets.

Even without the cover, the wily goblin barely manages to dodge aside. Rhu snarls in rage, his calm broken for the moment.
phaeton_nz |
The rather crispy cleric runs as fast as possible away from the Flaming Sphere and out of the combat area.
There are now only the three goblins to deal with who are preparing another volley.
Beryx, Katswirl and Janus are up followed by Red and Blue goblins.
Katswiri |
Katswiri stops casting her Silence spell as the cleric flees the scene. "That works too, I suppose."
She moves forward, drawing her mace as she takes cover from arrow fire behind a damaged stall of fruit.
