Falendral |
woops, miscounted at double cost rather than +5 feet cost, so only 60 move to do that, took 1 more side step west.

Gorliche Reflex: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Somewhat restrained by the strangling grasses, Gorliche takes a shot at the centaur. He reloads and takes another shot.

Hit by a serious shot, Thorn growls. He raises his hands and glares at the wagon. Something inside starts shifting around, trying to break free. "It's trapped!" he snarls. Turning towards the remaining reefclaw, he bellows, "Cut a hole in the cover!"
The reefclaw obediently slithers closer, but... it's much slower on land, and the muddy terrain isn't helping.
Stride, Stride, Stride.
All PCs' turns.

◆ Cast Blood Ward on Folmyr to protect them from aberrations. Folmyr gets +1 status bonus to AC versus aberrations, like Blue.
Falendral |
Falendral is completely focused on his prey as he shifts around the Centaur to keep him off guard while still being prepared to break to the wagon if needed, then stabs at him twice in rapid succession!
Stride, strike, strike

1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 to hit the cenataur's flanked AC , 1d8 + 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + (5) + 6 = 12 Piercing/precision damage
GM Super Zero |
Oh, never did the persistent damage on Thorn's turn. acid damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 and Flat Check: 1d20 ⇒ 10.
Jong's hurled stone wounds the reefclaw, and her spell shields her ally from it.
Hit
The centaur bleeds badly as Falendral lands a vicious stab to his, er, lower abdomen. He twists away from the next strike, stepping nimbly.
A crit, which bloodies him, and a miss.
Orion, Duncan, Gorliche, and Folmyr's turns.

"Not me, you imbecile! You are not worthy to carry the--"
Duncan's command to speak is undermined by the solid blow to Vengeant Thorn's jaw. He knees buckle, then he tips over as he collapses into the muddy road.
Orion, Gorliche, and Folmyr's turns.

Folmyr beheads the second reefclaw, and suddenly all is silent but the wind and waves.
The item that was trying to escape from the wagon clatters back into the pile without ever having awakened--it's the box containing the scale.
Besides his gear, Vengeant Thorn wears a small non-magical jade medallion with faint markings which match the patterns on the scale. Whether this accounts for Thorn’s unusual sensitivity to the presence of the scale is unknown at this time. The medallion is worth 18 gp.
Orion Oneiros |
"Well that's just strange. Wish I knew what was going on. Should we release this one?" says Orion, pointing at their captive Druid.
Gorliche Turnlocke |
(sorry for the out. internet troubles. First off, for the bott'ed roll. the acid damage should have had an additional +1 from being a gunslinger, as well as an additional 1d6 precision from being a sniper on first shot of the combat.)
assuming no crit, on first attack should have been total damage: 1d6 + 1 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 1 + 5 = 10 keeping that initial 5 rolled by the bot... Actually, I see persistent damage dealt, so that was crit, for double the result here.)
now this turn
◆ Risky Reload to hit: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24 acid damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
◆ Reload
◆ Shoot again to hit, MAP: 1d20 + 12 - 5 ⇒ (9) + 12 - 5 = 16 acid damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
GM Super Zero |
I suggest you put information for a typical attack in your profile.
But, uh... for "this turn," who are you attacking? Remember, PFS rules require you to get the player's permission before shooting another PC. ;D
Gorliche Turnlocke |
Ugh, this is what I get when trying to get online and update finally after such network fun... I miss a couple posts about the fight being over... so no shoosting after-all... as for the "typical attack" yeah... that's part of the gunslinger's way that only applies to the first attack, and I don't normally miss posting. life just got crazy, and my home network ran into a multi-day fiber cut... much apologies.

At least we know which relic is causing our issues. We should probably turn the Druid over to the authorities, so he doesn't trouble other travelers.
GM Super Zero |
Once Vengeant Thorn is defeated and the Scale is revealed, the rest of the trip is uneventful. If the Scaleis retrieved without being picked up by a particular Pathfinder, the bad weather and misfortune effects continue as before until they reach Absalom. If someone carries it, everything seems the same--for them. Everyone else is immediately cured of their ill luck, as only that person is affected.
Back at the Grand Lodge, Zarta welcomes the field agents back and listens to their report. She has a wizard from the Grand Archive take possession of the Scale using telekinesis and take it to the vaults. Zarta informs the team that the Scale will be studied under isolated conditions to fully understand its effects (including any PC who picked up the Scale).
She adds that the Scale will be stored in the vaults under Skyreach once its secrets are understood, “to ensure no one uses it, and to keep it available in case we need to use it.”
Zarta clearly can’t resist mocking them slightly. “It’s a good thing that this item came to my attention! Imagine if one of those reckless followers of Eando Kline had gotten hold of it? It would probably have been smashed to pieces or tossed back into the sea. ‘Vigilant,’ indeed!”
Orion Oneiros |
"That is a dangerous item after all. I'm happy none of us touched it. "
Falendral |
Falendral breathes a sigh of relief to be done with the horrid weather and luck. I need to go clean and rest. he mutters, clomping off.
