Orion feels the reins and gives them a pull. He urges the horses forward, thinking he needs to get this cart moving away from the frog swarm.

Fortunately, Falendral was already frog hunting with his spear in hands. He lets out a guttural yell, entering a rage as he sprints around to the far side of the wagon, before stabbing into through though as many of the little buggers as he can.

The frogs on the wagon and horses move with them as they start to move, but that's very few as the others continue violently dispatching them. The remaining foods hurry away, croaking feebly and still burning with acid.
The situation is resolved with no damage to the wagon, no injury to the horses, and a pile of dead frogs.
The swarm is resistant to piercing and slashing, but that's... more than enough damage.

Falendral will gather a selection of frog corpses for later examination to determine if they seem unnatural in any way, or if it was just their behavior. If the latter, he'll prepare them for the midday meal.

Falendral can find nothing wrong with the frogs. Other than being stabbed and burned with acid.
The Pathfinders begin their trek without further incident unless one counts the unpleasant rain. After leaving Otari, they travel north into the Immenwood to join up with the main road heading east to Absalom. The road is well maintained and broad, with a 15-foot lane of muddy cobblestones lined by 10 feet of cleared area between the road and the tree line. The trees are mostly coniferous, with a tangle of interlocking branches and thick undergrowth making passage through the forest very difficult.
Two people can sit in the front of the wagon, including the driver (or perhaps three if one is a sprite). How are the Pathfinders traveling, and is there anything else they do as they go?
Falendral
|
Falendral is travelling on his own two feat, just ahead of the wagon so he can keep his eyes on a swivel for 270 degree coverage...both sides and the front, his 35 ft speed likely giving him plenty of time compared to a laden wagon.

Jong will take a seat on the wagon next to Orion.
If she has time, she will continue to examine the artifacts, trying to figure out which one is the problem. She does have Quick Identification
| GM Super Zero |
Jong determines that the third item on the list, the wooden chest containing pottery shards and fragments, contains a dull gray aeon stone among the other pieces.
She can sense transmutation magic from the ebony box, the fourth item, but would have to break the wax seal to see if she can identify whatever is inside.
thong has long since rotted away. Close inspection reveals faint patterns engraved upon the scale’s surface, but they are too faded to be legible. It has a transmutation aura, but she isn't able to determine what it does. It may be part of a larger set.
The stone statues listed as item #6 have an abjuration aura, but don't seem to do anything. They may be part of a larger set that don't have any power on their own.
Item #12, the medallion, radiates evocation but Jong isn't able to tell what it does.
One of the sealed scroll cases has an aura of evocation.
Jong also finds that her familiar is surprisingly irritable.

Random selection whether to open the sealed Scroll Case 1 Open 2 Leave it: 1d2 ⇒ 1
I found some odd pieces, but nothing that is obviously cursed. This Ebony Box was once line with lead, but the lining has shaken loose. The object inside is a reptilian scale approximately 6 inches across and hued the cyan of a clear tropical sea. I identified it as originating from a massive brine dragon. The scale is pierced at the top so it can be worn around the neck, but the thong has long since rotted away. Close inspection reveals faint patterns engraved upon the scale’s surface, but they are too faded to be legible. It has a transmutation aura, but I isn't able to determine what it does. It may be part of a larger set.
I also found a scroll I can't read. Maybe one of you can read it. She looks pointedly at Orion, since clerics should be able to deal with Religion at a minimum.
Also, The wooden buckler is actually covered with gecko scales. It's strange, but the shield seems to be made of silver and not wood after all.
| GM Super Zero |
The road is still slick with mud, but the rain seems to have finally abated. The view of the sky is limited to a narrow strip above the road, lined with the spreading boughs of the Immenwood. Thunder still rumbles above the trees, and the sky looks as if it may continue the deluge at any moment. The normal sound of forest animals has been replaced by a cacophony of hoarse cries, growls, and screams. It is clear that the residents of the Immenwood are not happy to see visitors.
A piercing cry announces the arrival of a group of sea birds, they turn as one and dive towards the wagon!
The quickest one dives and lands on the wagon, tearing at the cover with its talons. It doesn't quite tear a hole large enough for the bird to squeeze into, but it's close!
Yellow uses its Diving Attack ability, that lets it fly twice, dive, and attack for two actions. It hits the wagon cover and deals 5 slashing damage, reduced by the cover's Hardness of 2. It then attacks again and hits for 2 damage, which fails to penetrate hardness.
