@Party, WRT level 3, do we want muscle or skills? I am either taking a level of slayer or a level of rogue...
Rhiann Sokol
I mean we already have a rogue, and slayer isn't bad on skills, only 2 less than rogue per level. The combat ability/ranged prowess might be the better way to go.
Adela Anastasia
I would say go Slayer at this level. We need the ranged damage.
Rhiann Sokol
I guess as far as the next thing we explore one of those notice board points, where we pick something from the available missions.
Erik Sforza
A mechanical update for Erik's lvl 3. Despite slayer winning the vote, I went rogue, because I like the Cover of Night ability.

Feats: Point Blank Shot (1st), Weapon Finesse (URog 1), Precise Shot (3ed), Dampen Presence (URogue Talent 2: Dampen Presence)
+2 to One Ability Score: Half-elf characters get a +2 bonus to one ability score of their choice at creation to represent their varied nature.
Medium: Half-elves are Medium creatures and have no bonuses or penalties due to their size.
Normal Speed: Half-elves have a base speed of 30 feet.
Low-Light Vision: Half-elves can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.
Dual Minded: The mixed ancestry of some half-elves makes them resistant to mental attacks. Half-elves with this racial trait gain a +2 bonus on all Will saving throws. This racial trait replaces the adaptability racial trait.
Elf Blood: Half-elves count as both elves and humans for any effect related to race.
Elven Immunities: Half-elves are immune to magic sleep effects and get a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against enchantment spells and effects.
Keen Senses: Half-elves receive a +2 racial bonus on Perception checks.
Blended View: Prerequisite: low-light vision. Half-drow whose non-drow parent had low-light vision might be blessed with a legacy of versatile senses. Characters with this trait keep their low-light vision but also gain darkvision to a distance of 60 feet. Half-elves can take this trait in place of multitalented.
Languages: Half-elves begin play speaking Common and Elven. Half-elves with high Intelligence scores can choose any languages they want (except secret languages, such as Druidic).
FCB: 1/6 of a slayer talent *1
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A slayer is proficient with all simple and martial weapons, as well as with light armor, medium armor, and shields (except tower shields).
Studied Target (Ex): A slayer can study an opponent he can see as a move action. The slayer then gains a +1 bonus on Bluff, Knowledge, Perception, Sense Motive, and Survival checks attempted against that opponent, and a +1 bonus on weapon attack and damage rolls against it. The DCs of slayer class abilities against that opponent increase by 1. A slayer can only maintain these bonuses against one opponent at a time; these bonuses remain in effect until either the opponent is dead or the slayer studies a new target.
If a slayer deals sneak attack damage to a target, he can study that target as an immediate action, allowing him to apply his studied target bonuses against that target (including to the normal weapon damage roll).
At 5th, 10th, 15th, and 20th levels, the bonuses on weapon attack, damage rolls, and skill checks and to slayer DCs against a studied target increase by 1. In addition, at each such interval, the slayer is able to maintain these bonuses against an additional studied target at the same time. The slayer may discard this connection to a studied target as a free action, allowing him to study another target in its place.
At 7th level, a slayer can study an opponent as a move or swift action.
Accuracy (Ex): At 1st level, a sniper halves all range increment penalties when making ranged attacks with a bow, crossbow, or firearm. This ability replaces track.
Sneak Attack: If a rogue can catch an opponent when he is unable to defend himself effectively from her attack, she can strike a vital spot for extra damage.
The rogue’s attack deals extra damage anytime her target would be denied a Dexterity bonus to AC (whether the target actually has a Dexterity bonus or not), or when the rogue flanks her target. This extra damage is 1d6 at 1st level, and increases by 1d6 every 2 rogue levels thereafter. Ranged attacks can count as sneak attacks only if the target is within 30 feet. This additional damage is precision damage and is not multiplied on a critical hit.
With a weapon that deals nonlethal damage (such as a sap, unarmed strike, or whip), a rogue can make a sneak attack that deals nonlethal damage instead of lethal damage. She cannot use a weapon that deals lethal damage to deal nonlethal damage in a sneak attack—not even with the usual –4 penalty.
The rogue must be able to see the target well enough to pick out a vital spot and must be able to reach such a spot. A rogue cannot sneak attack while striking a creature with total concealment.
Trapfinding: A rogue adds 1/2 her level on Perception checks to locate traps and on Disable Device checks (minimum +1). A rogue can use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.
Skilled Liar (Ex): Whenever a guerrilla uses Bluff to attempt to deceive someone, she gains a bonus on the opposed roll equal to 1/2 her rogue level (minimum +1). A guerrilla can still use Disable Device to disarm magic traps.
This ability replaces trapfinding.
Finesse Training (Ex): At 1st level, a rogue gains Weapon Finesse as a bonus feat. In addition, starting at 3rd level, she can select any one type of weapon that can be used with Weapon Finesse (such as rapiers or daggers). Once this choice is made, it cannot be changed. Whenever she makes a successful melee attack with the selected weapon, she adds her Dexterity modifier instead of her Strength modifier to the damage roll. If any effect would prevent the rogue from adding her Strength modifier to the damage roll, she does not add her Dexterity modifier. The rogue can select a second weapon at 11th level and a third at 19th level.
Evasion (Ex): At 2nd level, a rogue can avoid even magical and unusual attacks with great agility. If she succeeds at a Reflex saving throw against an attack that normally deals half damage on a successful save, she instead takes no damage. Evasion can be used only if the rogue is wearing light armor or no armor. A helpless rogue does not gain the benefit of evasion.
Cover of Night (Ex): At 2nd level, a guerrilla learns to use darkness to her advantage. She gains a +5 bonus on Disguise, Sleight of Hand, and Stealth checks while she is in areas of dim light or darkness, and can create mundane disguises in dim light or darkness with a full-round action (instead of the normal 1d3 × 10 minutes). Additionally, while in dim light or darkness, if a guerrilla would have concealment, she instead has total concealment.
This ability replaces evasion.
Rogue Talents: As a rogue gains experience, she learns a number of talents that aid her and confound her foes. Starting at 2nd level, a rogue gains one rogue talent. She gains an additional rogue talent for every 2 levels of rogue attained after 2nd level. A rogue cannot select an individual talent more than once.

Oh hey, I just noticed that as far as I can tell, I'm now your longest-running GM (at least in terms of time spent in this Gameplay thread). Score!
Adela Anastasia
And much appreciated. :)
Yuki-Tsune
I didn't see an update. My apologies.
Hope her damage done made up for the delay :P
Yuki-Tsune
I'll post later today.
GM ST
Soooo this is an example of a storytelling trope called the Fantastical Mundane (and perhaps a mismatch in expectations), wherein something that would be strange and wonderful-- or frightening-- in the real world is considered commonplace in-universe. If you saw someone in real life wave their hands and vanish on the spot, it would break the laws of physics and possibly your brain; if your Pathfinder character saw the same thing they would think "oh great, that person is probably up to something."
The playable races generally fall into this category, unless specified otherwise (I'm currently playing in a game where dwarves are said to have all gone extinct, so even a normal dwarf would be pretty amazing to see.) One interesting case, you might even say it's an exception that proves the rule, is anadis in PF2. They're basically kitsunes but for spiders instead of foxes, and they are typically shunned from "proper" society and forced to keep to their human forms pretty much all the time. But even then, they aren't shunned because they're shapeshifters-- they're shunned because spiders are icky.
We certainly can say kitsunes are unusual to the point of being prejudiced against, but it might be more interesting to say they're shunned where Yuki in particular came from-- only for her to discover that her race isn't a big deal in most other places.
Yuki-Tsune
Yeah. I would love to play an Anadi some day
And I do like the idea that her idea of not showing her Kitsune side is mostly due to where she grew up. Even when she realises it's not a big deal where she is at right now, her very nature wants to hide it as long as possible
Rhiann Sokol
Makes sense. Different cultures treat things differently.
Think of how old European cultures would treat a shape shifter versus Native American culture. In a region where there has been a strong fey presence, a kitchenette might be assumed pay and treated the way they are to that specific group. In a region where light kind of ropes terrorize an area, they'd be very much mistrusted as some variant former werewolf.
With her own awareness that there's a touch of fae in her bloodline, Rhiann isn't as shaken by things like this is someone else might be.
Erik's reaction is honestly completely within reason.
Adela Anastasia
1 person marked this as a favorite.
Eric's reaction is erring on the side of paranoia, but reasonable considering the encounters we've had so far.
Adela heard the stories of the Fey told to children growing up in an area that was familiar with them and while cautious is still a city girl seeing something magical for the first time. :)
Dare Ashborn
I understand Erik's reaction out of character.
Dare, a member of a race which often sees prejudice because of the nature of most orcs, is sympathetic to wanting to hide one's true appearance even if her approach is just to look more intimidating rather than less. Dare also remembers Erik was super suspicious of her when she showed up, so her protective streak will flare up, wanting to protect Yuki from the same treatment--even if that means he takes it out on her instead.
Yuki-Tsune
Yeah. She is kinda seeing the potential of what happened where she came from in Erik. She's just a very good lier and hiding things from others so catching her in that regard will need some extra effort :P
I love the RP. Don't get me wrong there. It works
GM ST
I apologize, it's been a very rare level of busy for me the past few days. I should be able to move us along Wednesday.
Erik Sforza
I am travelling again, until the 11th. I hope to be able to keep up with posting...
Dare Ashborn
I've got nothing else to contribute to the tactics or conversation at this moment but will follow along with the party
Dare Ashborn
Apropos of nothing, I keep forgetting I have the magical knack trait, which adds up to +2 to my caster level, not exceeding hit dice. So even though I did not level in Sorcerer, my caster level is still 3, which still affects things like duration of spells and the number of dice of damage in burning hands. So if I look like I'm calculating for caster level 2, please remind me to add +1.
Rhiann Sokol
Nice!
Dare Ashborn
My dad isn't well so I will be slow to post for the next couple days. Please bot me if needed.
Rhiann Sokol
Hope things get better.
Adela Anastasia
Best wishes to you and your Father.
Dare Ashborn
Thanks for understanding all. He's doing much better for now. Getting old sucks!
Erik Sforza

Still beats the alternative...
Adela Anastasia
Who wants the bow? Adela can't use it.
Yuki-Tsune
If it was a short own, Yuki could, but nope. So not for her
Erik Sforza
Who wants the bow? Adela can't use it.
You just masterwork tranformation'ed my erastil - blessed composite longbow, so I'm out on the bow. Will put my hand up for the animal bane arrows...
Dare Ashborn
Dare just got martial weapons proficiency so she could use it but she's going to usually rely on spells for ranged attacks, so if someone else can use it, they should take it.
Of she's the only one who can use it, I'll take it; nice to not worry about the length of time it takes to load a crossbow.
Rhiann Sokol
Rhiann can use it, but, with my current composite longbow, I'd be trading a +2 to damage with a +1 to hit. That may not be worth it.
GM ST
Would probably be a downgrade for Rhiann, since damage bonuses on bows are so hard to come by (and of course since masterwork transformation exists and is accessible to you). So it sounds like Dare's the best candidate.
Also, man I never realized how stingy this book is with treasure.
Yuki-Tsune
why we need to get a crafter. still low level, so thats fine. but once we get to levels where crafting, is viable, leadership is great. i do plan to get it, then get us a crafter
since i dont think spy master is her way to go anymore :P
Rhiann Sokol
Agreed. Dare, enjoy a nifty new backup weapon. India king maker at least at low levels is pretty sparse on treasure. Also the treasure drops aren't all that friendly to weird builds
Dare Ashborn
Okay then! Do we want to keep my crossbow as a backup weapon or shall we sell it to Oleg?
Adela Anastasia
1 person marked this as a favorite.
One light crossbow for sale, two previous owners.
"Surprisingly accurate." - Adela Anastasia.
"It shoots." - Dare Ashborn.
Rhiann Sokol
Lol. Yeah might as well sell it.
And yeah, Erik is the best choice for the arrows
Erik Sforza
One thought; don't we have some magic bolts that we can't shoot without a a crossbow?
Yuki-Tsune
Yuki still has a crossbow. So it's not like we don't have one between us
Adela Anastasia
We did pick up some flaming bolts which Adela is using with her heavy crossbow.
Rhiann Sokol
Yeah there's seven +1 flaming crossbow bolts which I think we split between Adela and Yuki.
Also there's a +1 light steel shield, as well as Kressle's other masterwork hand axe (Rhiann took one)
Adela Anastasia
Adela will put her hand up for the +1 light steel shield. Hers is currently masterwork.
I don't think anyone else uses a shield?
Erik Sforza
I use a buckler, not a shield... Although I hope to take great advantage of both your and Jhod's services to get a lot of masterwork transformations done. (Bow - already done. Rapier and Buckler to do, but could be overtaken by events, if there is magic available at some stage...).
Dare Ashborn
No shield, I need a hand free for casting spells.
Dare will start using light armor should we conveniently come across a suit. ETA: In fact isn't Oleg supposed to be able to sell some basic items? I might ask if I can buy some leather armor... only +1 armor than her haramaki, but every little bit counts. She can use martial flexibility to give herself Arcane Armor Training temporarily.
Rhiann, wonder if you should just take both handaxes?
Dare Ashborn
Also, man I never realized how stingy this book is with treasure.
I'm not sure if it helps us, and forgive me if you've already thought of this, but one thing I sometimes forget as GM is that monsters may have treasure even if it isn't explicitly described in the adventure. Any creature that has treasure mentioned in its statblock, e.g. "Treasure: Standard" should have stuff on it. If the module doesn't say what it is, it doesn't mean it doesn't have treasure, it just means it's up to the GM as to what it is. Of course some critters don't have treasure, including a lot of animals, and that's one of the challenges of this module.
If it's helpful, Archives of Nethys has a handy random item generator useful for generating encounter treasure.
Yuki-Tsune
I never thought of to actually mention it, but yeah Dare is right. Quite a few monsters have treasure entries in their normal monster stats.
Adela Anastasia
I'm sure Tuskgutter had a Belt of Giant strength + 2. :)
