Start of the Introduction
The air in this cavernous room holds a palpable excitement as Pathfinders fill it, joining together in small groups as they evaluate supplies and whisper excitedly about why everyone has been summoned to Kyonin. Representatives from all the nations of the Inner Sea and beyond have come, gathering together amid the haphazard assortment of tables and chairs, seemingly pulled together in support of this unprecedented mustering.

A silver-haired Elf outfitted with eastern-style breastplate armor and a shield at his hip sheathed is a Katan joins the group as they assemble in a great hall somewhere in Kyonin. He gently scratches the chin of a tiny owl sitting on his shield rim, the elf speaking to it, **”No you can’t pick over their dead bones, they are fellow pathfinders! I’ll get you a mouse after the mission”**
Placing the bird into a Satchel designed for familiars, He turns his eyes upon the assembled group and sighs **”Greetings, I am Sundamar a warrior skilled with both blade and magic, The Society must have great faith in your abilities having assigned only one elven representative to insure the mission success. I’m sure everything will work out.”**

A tiny ratfolk sniffs the the air as she scuttles over to the group. She clutches a book to her chest, her fingers stained several different colors and a dusting of...something on her nose.
"Hi! I'm Zekki. Happy to be here. Do you know why we've been called to Kyonin? I've never been to this part of the world. I don't think I've ever met an elf in person before. It makes sense that you're here, being Kyonin and all, but I haven't seen one before. Do you like being back in Kyonin? Actually, are you from Kyonin or somewhere else? Would you like a snack?"
She offers him a handful of tiny crackers which look surprisingly good.

You see a small mushroom leshy approach you all with a big warm smile and say,"Welcome all. I am Pelia and am from the Fangwood forest. Im an emissary of Gendowyn and the fey of the forest. Pleasure to meet you all and Im sure we'll work great together as a team"

A chiseled warrior strides toward the gathering group. A set of tightly wound horns frame his head and his vaguely elven features complete his mien. He wears a breastplate that look more suited to display his pectorals than for any sort of protection, and a bastard sword is slung across his back.
"Is this where I'm supposed to be? You might recognize me from my glorious fighting days in the pits of the River Kingdom. If not, Armik is the name."

Rumor holds that Venture-Captain Ciobanu was leading a covert operation with members of an elite team from his lodge when he disappeared. The stories say they were ambushed, with everyone in the group was assassinated by order of Queen Telandia. It wasn’t until recently that anyone even knew Ciobanu was still alive.
Venture-Captain Ciobanu is from the town of Folien, and was the leader of the lodge in Kyonin, known as the Leaves of Talhindir. The Society had been making great headwinds in gathering information about the history of Kyonin prior to Earthfall when suddenly he disappeared.

Her face is the only skin thats visible and she has two smallish tattoos below her eyelids. She sports a scimitar on her waist and wears a wooden symbol of Sarenrae as a necklace. There is an air of confidence about her, and it is visible in her stride.

**HOUSE GM ANNOUNCEMENT**
The raucous excitement that has filled the room comes to a calm as four figures step to the center. Fola Barun and Eando Kline are accompanied by a scholarly elven man and a lithe, hooded figure. Eando clears his throat and begins.
“Agents, thank you for braving the not-quite-so safe trip to join us here in the heart of Iadara. While publicly still unwelcome within Kyonin, when we received a cryptic message bearing her majesty’s seal, asking us to come here and lend aid, we took the chance. One of our foundational principles is cooperation, and in doing so here we have opened the door to an opportunity to foster mutual respect, loyalty, and trust; perhaps even to rebuild a bridge long burnt. However, this is better explained by the envoy the queen has sent to us.”
With that, the hooded figure takes the center of the floor. A feminine voice begins to speak from behind the cowl that obscures their face. “Thank you, Pathfinders, for obliging the request to come. You see, things here in Kyonin are not what they seem... And, let me start by clearing some of the confusion by introducing myself properly.”
As the elf lifts her hood, it starts to shimmer, and then falls back upon her shoulders. She lifts her head, making eye contact with the audience surrounding her, all the while the crystal in the center of the circlet encircling her fair forehead glows with the new day’s dawn.
“I am Queen Telandia, and I hope you will accept my apologies for concealing my identity, but there are many here in Iadara, in Kyonin as a whole, who still hear the title Pathfinder and find a bad taste in their mouth. For them to find me meeting with you would be very... bad for my health. However, I know this opinion doesn’t need to stay the case—even if the glacial pace of elven politics seems nigh impossible to change. After speaking with your former Venture-Captain of Kyonin,” she gestures to the other elf in the entourage. “I have come to ask a great favor from your society, one that is surely dangerous, though I’m still trying to discern how much so. I am certain that your success at this mission will help me to prove your worth as allies to others, possibly even speeding up politics.
“As for why I have called you to this place: the Tanglebriar at the edge of Kyonin is a horrid place. A twisting swamp filled with abyssal energy and other horrors one dares not speak of. Thankfully, the corruption within Kyonin has been kept to there—that is,until now. My agents have found information that indicates an individual named Nathatel Zephon is actively working to spread the message of his ‘elves first’ manifesto and is possibly involved with the spreading corruption.”
Amplifying his voice for the room to hear, Venture-Captain Ciobanu comes into the explanation. “There are pockets of woods in Kyonin that are starting to resemble places that have been tampered with, not the least of all my hometown of Folien. Reports state the area around the town has become darker, more sinister. You can never take the same way home as how you got there, and the shifting navigation has made it nearly impossible to get through if you don’t already know exactly where it is you’re going.”
The queen continues, “I’m certain something is messing with the town, working to find a way to take control of it and the ley lines running through there. What I need from you is to find your way to the town, find out exactly what is causing these concerns, and neutralize it with whatever means you must.”
Fola looks to the agents gathered in the large underground tavern, and then back to the queen. “Your Highness, I believe this is a challenge we can take on, and we’re grateful you’ve determined we’re the right people to help you.”
Eando smiles. “Of course we are. Containing power from being accessed by an evil enemy? This happens to be my area of expertise.” Venture-Captain Ciobanu looks at the rest of the agents in the room. “What say you? Are you with us?” As a cheer erupts from the crowd, he smiles. “Well, we have but a few moments for questions, feel free to come and ask, but then we must be on our way.”
Table GMs, please begin Part 1

Oh, 'tis da mission briefin'?" He looks at the group around him and says, I's be Chomper o' da Razortooth Tribe. We ready ta go?"

No additional information has been gained, you have achieved all the info anyway.
Five missions to choose from, pick one. I will take the first response if no answer is picked in 24 hours from this post, I will roll 1d5. Feel free to discuss in the discussion thread.
1 Forest Campsite
Venture-Captain Ciobanu approaches, the concern in his voice tinged with fear. “Our forward scouts report a group of elves trapped in the woods. With all this ever-changing overgrowth, I’m not surprised, but I do worry what will happen if we don’t help them out. I need you to go and escort them back to the road so they can get to somewhere safer, away from whatever power is affecting the forest.” Combat
2 Missing Agents
Upon approaching Eando Kline, he folds a piece of paper and puts it in his pocket as he begins to pace. “There are a few of our number who have, for lack of a better description, decided this mission doesn’t emphasize our core values as Pathfinders and have instead opted to desert. Due to your repeated dedication to the Society, I am sending you to catch up to them and convince them to come back—remind them of who the Pathfinders really are.” Exploration and Combat or diplomacy
3 Friends or Foes
Fola tilts her head, curling up her nose as a new thought hits her. “Agents, elves aren’t the only ones who inhabit this forest, though they are the most prevalent. The forest is also home to many fey, denizens who are no doubt being affected by these changes as well. Maybe we should see if we can find some of them, and if so, seek an alliance.” Various Skill and diplomatic challenges
4 Navigating the overgrowth
Eando swears softly at the maps he’s holding, frustration creasing his brow. “Looking at these charts, the way to town should be clear from here. Unfortunately, with all this overgrowth, I’m not sure which way we need to go next. I need you to go ahead of the rest of us and find a way through it, otherwise who knows what could happen while we’re stuck here?” Various Skill exploration challenges
5 Break Through
Venture-Captain Ciobanu looks at the twisted path ahead and then at his wayfinder. Closing it, he looks up. “I remember, when I was leading my lodge, the most important tasks came when I was helping other agents to overcome obstacles they couldn’t on their own. Getting to our destination is going to take supporting each other in much the same way. All of us have skills that we are better at than others, and we should use this opportunity to support each other. I need you to look around at your fellow agents and help them complete any tasks they’re struggling with.” Various Skill challenges

Yeah that meant the first person to respond in the gameplay thread, which is why I said discuss in the discussion thread. Sundamer is the first to respond.
You are off to find the local fey as Fola sends you. It is hard to find your way in the forest. Perception or survival checks or Forest Lore. Only roll if you think you have a good modifier, failures have consequences. You may roll twice. Also, Nature or Dryads lore or Forest Lore, failures here do not have consequences unless everyone fails.

DoubleGold |

Armik 2ed does really good the first few hours, but has a little trouble the next few hours. Too many trees in the way, or he is avoiding all the dangers of the forest. 1 success and 1 failure. Armik may continue to roll until he has one more success, or let someone else roll. Failure is bad not for the person, but for the whole group.

![]() |

Zekki keeps an eye out for tricksy fey creatures, helping Armik.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13

DoubleGold |

Zekki gets the group back on track and finds signs of Dryads, they must be nearby, but it took you all long enough. Everyone is fatigued
However, Zekki does not find the Dryad itself. Failed the nature check, but that is okay, we only need 1 pc to succeed. Even a crit failure on nature won't penalize you, so all may try.

DoubleGold |

Pelia is able to read the signs and you locate a tree with a dryad tied to it.
A slender, tan woman all dressed in leaves steps out of the tree. “What brings adventurers like yourselves out into the forest? We, my sisters and I, have been watching you and your companions move through our trees, as it’s very uncommon to see creatures other than the local elves walking these roads. Even more so, anyone coming to find us. The townspeople tend to stay within their borders, and honestly, elves in general haven’t always been the nicest to us.” Everyone roll a diplomacy, intimidation or deception check to explain what you want from her, no penalties if you fail or crit fail. Enough successes makes it easier to make an impression on Persea by showing it.
Then you will make an impression on Persea by showing it. Roll an Athletics to carry something heavy. An Attack Roll to demonstrate your awesome combat techniques. Or a Medicine Check to help others. Alternatively at a higher DC you can roll a Cha based skill. You may also pick a Lore skill that makes sense, also at a higher dc. You will get a +2 bonus for good roleplay. Casting a spell slot or spending a valuable resource grants you automatic success. Spending your highest spell slot grants you a crit success. You must Roll 3 times or cast 3 spells. But pick a different skill each time, or you will get a -2 repetition penalty. Crit failures matter here

"And yeah I get it. People look at me all the time and say out loud why the mushroom is talking. Oooo no... the mushroom is talking. Run away. So I know how it feels speaking as a plant adjacent creature to be met with suspicion. But Im here to help," she adds very plainly.

She's using her Fresh produce to give each fey an edible mushroom for no mechanical effect besides its funny.
After healing the fey she then decides to show the fey what she can do offensively. "You see my powers go beyond summoning healthy edible produce. If you get it moving fast enough it hurts."
Elemental Blast 2 action attack: 1d20 + 4 + 4 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 4 + 2 + 1 = 16
While accurate the blast bounces off the target instead of causing any appreciable damage.
"Anyway I hope I've impressed upon you that we mean you no harm and are here to help you. If you ever go out traveling you should visit Fangwood. Its full of plenty of fey like yourselves and mom... errr.. Gendowyn would surely enjoy the company," she says a bit flustered.

You all try to explain what you want or what you come for, but she is either tuning you out, or you're all having a tough time communicating. 2 successes, 3 failures, though someone has not yet took their turn and you need half, so I'll update the text if the 3rd person is successful.
Armik 2 successes
Armik fails to demonstrate good combat. Failure
Armik gets a few good jumps in, pushups and situps whatever else, but not much as they expected him to get in and they aren't impressed. But when Armik gives them the excuse that he didn't have his breakfast, they understand. Here you should eat this. As they hand you a bowl of wheaties. Failure turned into a success using the +2 for good roleplay.
Armik's excuse that he didn't eat good, wasn't a good one, but then they remembered that he said breakfast, which is when they immediately got reminded of their favorite breakfast, wheaties. Crit failure turned into a success, via the hero point roll.
Pelia 2 successes, 1 crit success for 4 points
Pelia comes off as awkward, but they get his point. He passed the original diplomacy check. counting for 1 of the 2 successes I mentioned above.
Pelia is able to smooth over any wounds people have Medicine success.
Pelia's elemental blast isn't that impressive, but it seems Pelia was going for comedy with his blast instead. Failure turned into success via roleplay.
After listening to Pelia. And we are very greatful to have you at our side. Crit success obviously
Kyra 1 crit success for 2 points.
They don't get what Kyra is saying but they are impressed by how fast she treats their wounds and does it extra well. Crit success.
Sundamar 1 Success, 1 Crit success, 3 points.
They like what Sundamar is saying The other diplomatic success, in fact it is a crit success, unfortunately it still counts as 1 point that roll.
Sundamar can't quite make all the obstacles, those hurtles, that tight rope balance, Sundamar hangs in their, just not quite as much as he hoped. Failure
They are impressed with how well Sundamar spars and after one minute, Sundamar lands the first strike, a soft blow of course though, so that the weapon just touches the armor. Success
Now that is a very useful spell against most enemies. Crit success.
Zeki 3 Successes
They don't believe Zeki at all when he says "We are here to help." But actions speak louder than words and they are blown away with his peformance.
Chomper of the Razortooth Tribe is up and Kyra 2 more rolls. As long as nobody crit fails 3 times, you have a success for this mission.
Edit You may also pick your next mission to if you want. I bot in 24 hours anyway, so if Chomper doesn't post by 6:06 PM eastern time Sept 6th, exactly 24 hours from the time you encountered the dryads, I roll for him. If it wasn't a special I'd not bot, but for specials, I count exactly 24 hours from when the last skill check challenge started or if in combat 24 hours from when your last turn started. So If combat starts on Sept 8th at 8:00 am eastern time, but you couldn't even start your turn until Sept 9th at 9:00 pm because you were last in init and has to wait for other players and enemies, then you'd have until Sept 10th at 9:00 pm to post. An exact 24 hours, assuming I'm not away from my computer during that exact time.
