Goxomas |

Gaxomas, have you seen the new clawdancer archetype from Howl of the Wild?
Nope. Haven't looked at it yet. Maybe for another character, though. I have plans for this one...

Perrik |

Do circumstance bonuses from skill feats or class abilities apply to Earn Income checks?
Ditto with the item bonus from a virtuoso musical instrument for Performance checks to Earn Income.

![]() |

Virtuoso, yes. Circumstance is iffy and probably depends on the feat text.

![]() |

For downtime, any bonus must apply for the duration of the activity and skill in general, to be included.
Specialty Crafting is one example of a feat that gives a bonus to crafting a type of item (like books or clothing). In the rules, you could find a crafting job in that specialty but PFS has simplified the earned income roll to use skill (crafting, lore, performance) at level -2 DC & training level. It's difficult to say what modifiers apply in PFS. Item bonuses are safe.
(There are feats to use other skills, or boons to modify the task level).

Congratulations you have completed part 2 of Trouble in Otari.
To come is Part 3 which will be the final part of Trouble in Otari.
I originally estimated that we would probably be done with Trouble in Otari in six months. I apologize for running past that estimate it's been 1 year since starting the beginner box Trouble under Otari Adventure and 7 months since starting Trouble in Otari. It will probably take 3-4 months to finish part 3 of Trouble in Otari. If anyone wants or needs to drop out now would be a good time.
Hopefully, everyone will continue to the end!

What do we have for money? I haven't been tracking the party funds at all.

If you are not sure how much wealth your PC should have:
Your character should have about 179gp total in gear and coins plus any items claimed from loot found along the way.
Note: There are two +1 weapon runes on weapons in the party loot that can be claimed and moved to a more preferred weapon or handwrap.

![]() |

So we would each have 179gp each?
Yes After including the part-2 loot share, Each character should have about 179gp in total (gear+coins) Not counting any loot items claimed.
(Example: Mikhail I have listed a +1 dagger and a repair kit as items claimed from loot).

I’m up for continuing. Is my birthday today (50th!) so this kid is taking some time off. Will level and work out purchases as and when I can.

Tain Hekkanen |

I've managed to injure myself the day after my birthday playing football, so I actually have a little more time, but only now...so haven't leveled up yet.
Also, I have very little experience with magic itmes/runes etc. Is it possible for Tain to upgrade the smoking longsword or sparkblade to striking rune? Is striking the one that adds a second dice of damage? Anything else I should be buying? Is magical armor/shields still a thing in PF2e?

Yes, you can add a striking rune.
Specific magic armor and weapons: you can add or improve their fundamental runes (ex: +1 rune, Striking rune), but they can’t gain property runes.

Celosia is up to date as 4th level. She picked up Group Coercion at this level and Split Spell.

Tain Hekkanen |

Finally leveled up, just in time for orcish shenanigans!
Finally took the Battlefield Medicine skill feat.
Still have a feat to choose….Can someone help me parse the Slam Down feat? It says “If you’re wielding a two-handed melee weapon, you can ignore Trip’s requirement that you have a hand free.” Are they just putting that in there for 2-handers? I.e.= Does that mean I can still use the feat to trip if I’m wielding a one-handed weapon and a shield? Or does Trip have the unenviable position of being really, really, situational?

Tain Hekkanen |

Also can someone assist me in working out:
A) how much money I would have left after adding striking rune to my sword
B) if it is possible to add a +1….magic….enhancement to my armor; what it is *actually* called in the ruleset; and how much it would cost.

Tain Hekkanen |

Ok, thanks Perrik. Don’t have enough for that and the 65 apparently required to upgrade from +1 smoking sword to +1 smoking striking sword.

Trip Action Requires you have at least one hand free. Your target can't be more than one size larger than you.
Some weapons have the trip trait that allows you to use the trip action without a free hand.
The Slam Down only removes the free hand requirement for two-hand weapons. Looks like you can't use trip if you are wielding a longsword and shield.
(I may have been playing my druid wrong in another game with regard to trip.)

Tain Hekkanen |

So what the actual f89k is the point of the Slam Down feat. Looking at the 4th level feats in the Player Core that are available to a fighter and the options are….suckful. A feat for two weapon fighters. A feat for bow users. Why are these based so specifically on your loadout rather than making you universally more dangerous?!? The sweeping/cleave one is about all I have a faint interest in, but it is pretty situational….Gah. I find this….frustrating. Going back to level 2 feats for a look.

Tain Hekkanen |

Yep. Checked Quick Reversal and Swipe. And level 2 feats. And dedications/archetypes. Still looking…thanks all.

I go back to previous levels a lot. I often don't want any feat at the level I'm taking it at, but there's usually something I want from before. Underwater Marauder is a favorite of mine, mostly because I keep ending up in water for some reason.

Many of my PFS characters take Underwater Marauder. It is often a shock to the GM that the in/under water encounter is relatively easy for the party.

ICONICPCSPF |

I have a few characters who have archetypes.
I have a sorcerer/dragon disciple.
I have a phsycic/sorcerer
I have a ranger/acrobat
and a wizard/magabaayn attendant
and one of my favorites
cloisterd cleric of Calistria/captivator

It has been a year since recruiting for the Beginner Box game 'Trouble Under Otari' that led to this game 'Trouble in Otari' I would like to remind everyone that the posting rate is expected once a day on weekdays and once on the weekends barring common holidays.
I've been letting the pace slide lately.
Also on a related topic, I updated the following section on my GM profile page.
Have fun!:
It all starts and ends here. I hope to create an environment that allows everybody to have fun. Should there ever be any issue with that, do not hesitate to send me a private message. No bullying as per PFS rules.
Posting Rate: Typically once daily on weekdays and once on weekends. Holidays are optional.
GM activity:
I generally post once each weekday and once during the weekend. I do keep an eye on the post during the day and may make a short post for clarification.
Player activity:
During combat I expect players to post within 24hrs of the GM post indicating it is their turn to act. Out of combat, I recommend posting at least once per 48 hours. Weekends and holidays are optional.
Combat timeouts:
If it has been more than 24 hours since a GM post calling for players to act, I as the GM may Bot the character (choose actions for it or place it in delay), if several Players have not posted I will post a partial GM post summary of that actions have been taken and their results along with remind the active player to post.
PBP games can be notoriously slow to play. It shows respect for each other if you keep pace with the group.
Starting combat:
(Not my preferred method, but works) I will roll initiative for players and foes (using the block method for foes) so that players end up in larger blocks. I’ll indicate in GM post which block of players can take action. Player actions generally will be processed in the order that players post.
In combat:
Please mark & keep adjustment bonuses being applied to dice rolls separately. You can list the roll adjustments per roll or in an OOC block. If casting a spell or using a special ability please post a link to the spell description or ability. (It saves me time to look it up.)
For example, people tend to forget the +1 for “Courageous Anthem” or “bless”, and this way it’s easier for me to correct for that.

Tain Hekkanen |

One thing I will add is to ask folx to use the Action symbols ◆ ↺ ◇ given PF2 Combat *absolutely* relies on them. I paste them into my alias info lines for every PF2 character, and given I do a lot of posting from my phone the easier they are to find without too much scrolling the better.
@GM Glyn - could you post the Action symbols under the header for the map-link at the top of this page?

Tain Hekkanen |

Huh. In that case then, use * for one Action, ** for two and *** for three. :)
