Lol. You guys are having a heckuva difficult time with the map.
Grilgoth, there is a wall (as explained earlier) at the top of the steps to the right of Patros. I added brown lines to show placement of walls. These walls block line of sight. A PC will need to get through the door in front of Patros, or be in the spot Patros is currently at, in order to see or attack an undead. I'm not going to bother with difficult terrain going up the steps.

20% miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 7
The bolt misses its target and sticks into the back wall.

Avoiding the mold, sea scum, and tiny gross sea creatures clinging everywhere, Nistivo carefully moves up the steps and through the doorway onto the mid-deck. He shoots a magical bolt of energy from his wand at the green zombie-like creature, nailing the creature in its back.

Seeing the green creature get nailed by a magic missile, Grilgoth glares at the creature in an attempt to hex it with bad luck.

The creature retorts with an insulting gesture of its middle finger at the witch.

Dr. Bellows runs up the steps and stops right near Grilgoth. His eyes quickly adjust to the dim light in the hold. With a clear line of sight, he takes a shot at the green creature. The arrow flies past the mast and lodges in the creature's side.

Patros hustles forward and flings a dagger at green...
20% miss chance: 1d100 ⇒ 33
Even with the dim lighting, the dagger strikes true. The drowned sailor collapses into a pile of bones and rotting flesh. Green destroyed!

Apparently. Ekadan will let the trapfinder go first and protect him with the hammer.

Hao Jin Cataclysm

It looks like you don't have a "trapfinder", per se, however, it usually falls to the barbarian in that case. ;)

Strong winds tug at you on the top deck. Gouges in the deck and masts show signs of a struggle, though no corpses linger here and the only scent not carried away by the fierce wind—much to Nistivo's dismay—is the briny stench of low tide. From the deck, the currents swirl away from the reef, churning white spray toward the high cliffs that make up the shore of distant Tempest Cay.

Perception:

Nistivo: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Grilgoth: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
Ekadan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Patros: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Dr. Avery: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Everyone except Ekadan notices a brass spyglass bolted to the rail, battered and covered in a patina of green from age and the salty air. It appears stuck in place, aimed at Tempest Cay.

Maybe this is worth taking back? Might be worth something to someone... he says as he peers through it. Maybe there's a drawing of a scantily clothed woman in there...see those trick telescopes before...and the ones where they leave a black eye...great gags... he says with a chuckle.

Completely surprised by the appearance of the brass spyglass, Ekadan turns to Nistivo and asks "What's that thing worth? If it's worth decent coin I'll bust the rail and carry it back with us."
He then asks Patros, "What do you see out there? Any more clues about what happened? Or something to beat up?"

"Indeed! Let me take a closer look."

Careful not to smudge his elbow-length white gloves, Nistivo examines the spyglass with a keen eye.

Lanel will use prestidigitation and mage hand to clean the spyglass, and detect magic if the previous one had ended.

If doesn't ping as magical, Lanel approaches it.

"Hold on! Before someone pockets this... let's see the last thing this thing was supposed to be looking at..."

He will take a peek and share his findings...

Patros peeks through the spyglass, but doesn't seem quite interested in what it's actually pointed at.
No scantily clad strumpet...
"Ooo! Seagulls!"
He looks back at the group with a white, salty ring around one eye that contrasts with his dark weathered skin, garnering a few chuckles from the group.

Nistivo takes a close look at the spyglass.
(Nice appraise check!)
He realizes if removed from its mount, the rotten wood and leather would crumble apart, leaving only worthless, tarnished brass fittings and a scuffed lens that no longer would serve a purpose.

Discerning the spyglass isn't magical and too dilapidated to bother salvaging, Lanel is interested in what is currently in the spyglass' view...
He can see that the blowing currents of wind and waves are leading directly toward a rocky cave in the cliff face along the shore of Tempest Cay.

"Huh... Would you look at that? I think we found the place they were searching in the first place," Lanel grins letting the others have a peek if they want. "If we don't find anything else here, we might want to explore that place."

Does the boat have any rafts available? How far is the shore from here?

He will look around for any more clues before heading back to the captain's quarters to wait for the others.

No lifeboats are on the Aspenthar. However, your Swan boat can take you there. Judging from the distance, it looks to be about half an hour away.

After a good thorough search on the top deck, there doesn't seem to be anything else of interest.

Time to check the Captain's Quarters. Anyone going to buff beforehand? Watch it be an empty room. :P
