The night is a typical cool spring evening, cool enough that the small fire in the large stone fireplace at the end of the common room provided more warmth than light. It was quiet enough though the common room had just enough guests that the barkeep, A no nonsense yet friendly enough half elf named Alinnawas busy enough stopping by a trio of tables... two with local farmers sharing tales and ales and one large one with some of the local lumberjacks drinking heavier stouts gambling coppers.
Seeing you enter at a moment she was behind the bar wiping off a freshly cleaned copper mug the Half even maiden smiles.
"Welcome to the Silver Chalice, I see you got your armbands finally Your first drinks are on me tonight shieldmates!"
She half called half spoke out giving a slight incline of her head before motioning out to the common rooms booths and seats.
"Have a seat I'll be right with you."
She added before ducking her head in the back and hollaring something inconcernable to the kitchen.

I’m also looking forward to this. I presume this is the time we read each other’s backgrounds and think in more detail how we know each other and interact.

thats purposeful Alinna is hte tavernkeeper. just to give you folks some abience while you chill in the discussion area. call it like day 0 rping.*lawls* Just gives you all a chance to introduce yourselves plan stratagy etc. . .
Cool, just wasn't sure, so I figured I'd ask.
Ok, intro for Borum, on the On the Myers Briggs scale he is an Entrepreneur. His appearance, Boram is stocky and tall for a halfling at 3’3,” his skin a light brown and his hair so blond it almost looks white. His facial hair sparce everywhere but on his chin and his goatee starting to fill in. His hazel eyes are sharp and clear. He wears a fine chain shirt over his utilitarian clothing: daggers on each hip, his pack high on his shoulders and a long stemmed pipe in his mouth.
If you want your character to know all there is about him that's fine, he's a talkative sort. But if you want to roll Knowledge (Local) feel free to do that to:
Heck, if you roll better than a 20 feel free for your character to know his whole backstory, obviously they've spent some time together :)

Thanks for the acceptance. So to be clear, no posting in the RP forum yet?
It was intense to know that she'd be filling the shoes of Noah. He had gone missing for nearly a year now. Surely dead. Her mourning had passed and she determined to take his place. More than that, she actually passed.
As the words of Alinnawas reach across the bar, she blushes greatly on her soft suntanned cheeks.
The trials were over. Elann had shed the covering armor she had worked so hard in during the day and now is getting a drink. For those who saw the furiously fighting Osirian woman in battle earlier that day, they would not suspect her to be so curvaceous, petite, and skinny. The armor added much to her bulk. She comes off now as adorable, not as a death-dealer.
Alinnawas was correct though.
On her arm, she still wears the sigil band of her success. It doesn't look very fashionable with such a nice, form-fitting black dress, but she was proud of her new mark. She also wears a thin fashionable belt at the hip--leaning slightly downward on the right side--with her cestus and a money pouch there on her right. A holy symbol hangs about her neck on a metal chain and rests above her bosom. The symbol seems to be polished silver and is quite brilliant in the light of the fireplace. The god may not be easily recognized in this region of the world. Perhaps dwarves may recognize it as a symbol of Bes.

Getting onboard!
Boram the Burglar |
I finally typed up a quick little background/motivation. It’s not long and detailed. But it’s a starting point and at least a quick glance at what made him the way he is. Hope it’s enough for now.
D’witt is now a second generation Silver Shield. Adopted as a baby by a human and a dwarf, his human mother was a member of the Shields while his dwarven mother worked a forge. He was loved an cared for by them both. Sadly, as is can happen, his human mother was lost in battle. He never blamed the Shields, instead it drove him to become one himself and live up to her memory. His dwarven mother did not blame them either, supporting her son in his decision.
Growing up by his mother’s forge, D’witt learned about smithing and fine metal work. He showed a knack for clockwork and the mechanical. When he discovered firearms, he became fascinated with them and wanted to learn everything he could about them.
With his mother in the forge most days, D’witt also learned how to cook and clean, to help his mother. He enjoys cooking greatly and is happy to cook for friends. Between the kitchen and learning about gunpowder, it was an easy step to playing with alchemical kits.
Both his mothers were always quick to smile and encourage his love of discovering new thing.
You may want to put that, and whatever else you decide, on his character page.
Apparently we have a couple of orphans...

D’witt stood a hearty 5’ 9” of average build. He beamed a smile at Alinna as she called over before hurrying off about her business.
He ran his fingers over his hair, brushing a few stray strands that had slipped from his short ponytail back behind the horns just above his pointed ears.
He had done it. He had passed, and just knew his mother was looking down on him with pride. A quick glance in the direction she had indicated and he spotted the booth. Proudly he walked over to join others he thought he recognized.

I was when I got a free moment. :p
Also, D’witt would argue, he’s not an orphan, he has a mother. :)Elann Amuel |

Just curious, are we still shooting for 1 post per day? GM, what are your intention with posting rate? You seemed slightly lax on this, but I'd like to shoot for us to hit your mentioned target, or at least realistically every few days as posts consecutively come in one after another. That would include a post from you encouraging the game to move forward or to add additional details of what we see.
That said, I think more frequent narration once, we've all posted once would be appreciated by me. I am unsure if you are busy or waiting. I feel strange posting again and again without GM direction on what NPCs are doing and I don't want to assume or overstep the bounds of my character.
I guess what I'm saying is, let's have some more communication on where you stand with posting rate. If you are waiting for something. If others are waiting for something or just busy in your own lives? Communication helps keep the game flowing and going! :)

Yeah, I also try to not pile on too hard in a lull because it does add up and move the goal-posts on "catching up" to post for whoever is behind.
Anduriel Silverthorn |
Heh. Ok so a touch shorter than Anduriel's 5'4

I think you mentioned in your intro post that he was 5'9", D'witt. And it is not so great a difference in height when sitting down between us. Here is an image showing the height of those in the party who we know.

Okay Percy! ;P

Sweet. I mean pepperboxes are the natural next step for D’witt. Right now I can attack twice, then I have to spend a full round reloading.
Or stand in one spot and just shoot and reload.
Or try to carry more regular pistols, but then that gets tedious. :p
Boram the Burglar |
right, a move action to load a pistol normally, but if you use alchemical cartridgesFirearms take longer, RR takes it from a standard action to a move action to load each muzzle.
So to reload both pistols would be a move and a standard.
Alchemical cartridges make loading a firearm easier, reducing the time to load a firearm by one step (a full-round action becomes a standard action, a standard action becomes a move action, and a move action becomes a free action),
So the move actions from RR would become free actions. Or do I read that wrong?
D'witt Hirshue |
Forgot about alchemical rounds, they would knock it down to free actions.
It would just get expensive after a while normally 12g for one paper alchemical cartridge, 4g each if I craft them myself. *sweatdrop*

I just picked some words off of the Forgotten Realms Dwarven list. I wouldn't pay it any mind. Just type up some gobbly-g$## words and then spoiler it in dwarven :P No need to get technical.

I am letting people know that as of today, I'm going to be on vacation and where I'm going, my internet may be spotty. I don't mind posting from my phone though when available. I should have internet but if you don't hear from me for some time, that is why. I should still be able to commit to my normal posting speed.
