The kings and queens of Korvosa have long ruled under the shadow of the Curse of the Crimson Throne—an infamous superstition claiming that no monarch of the city of Korvosa shall ever die of old age or produce an heir. Whether or not there is any truth to the legend of the curse, Korvosa's current king is but the latest victim to succumb to this foul legacy. Now, the metropolis teeters on the edge of anarchy, and it falls to a band of new heroes to save Korvosa from the greatest threat it has ever known!

Regarding moving through the water. I'd say that it would be difficult terrain to move through (i.e. no 5' step, 10' movement through each square), then to climb onto the walkway would be a DC:15 Climb check (base 10+5 for being slippery).

I think I'm going to go a little against-the-grain in terms of concept: a character ADAPTING to the pirate lifestyle rather than starting out already piratically-inclined. Class-wise I'm thinking Arcanist, maybe human or half-elf, with the Ancient Historian campaign trait.

Love to... but the movement will draw an AoO which is a hit I can't afford at the moment. I'm going to give punching this beast one more go before I risk that.

I'm definitely still interested in Skull and Shackles. I'm thinking of building a storm druid; I've never played a druid before and this seems like a campaign where one could be very useful.

So fare, a little arcane and healing. Still could use a trapper and a front-line character. I'm considering creating a two-handed melee build. I might be able to work in trapper as a side gig. It works cleanly into a life of skullduggery.
