Found Journal:
Entry Eleven: The track down the Sellen River was unbearable. Although Captain Shearwart did his best to accommodate our clergy, the trip was tedious. Luckily, we didn’t encounter any of the river patrols that we thought might come across our path. Once we reach Cassomir, we should be boarding a sea vessel large enough to accommodate our trip to Korvosa. We haven’t heard anything from our contacts from that regen for quite some time but the shipping lanes in that area are flush with potential. I suspect, after greasing the wheel a bit, we can pick up a few extra girls Korvosa. After resupplying, we will head to Magnimar, where Jonavan has arranged for four new girls. The pickup should be smooth, considering the area is well off the beaten path. From there, we will head to Sandpoint and meet with Gidra. Her and her crew should have a solid number for us.

Entry Fourteen: We have brokered a deal with the curator of the Quarterfaux Archive’s Darrick Humphry. He heads one of Caliphas’s underground gangs, which governs the city’s sewer system. The oversized system should take us directly to the temple without having to navigate through the city with the girls.

Entry Twenty-Three: We have collected fourteen girls in total, which should be enough to justify this trip. Adding these girls to our total should please Lord Eastabon. Assuming he doesn’t eliminate any of them, we should have enough to attempt the Gulden Ritual. If the ancient text is correct, this could free Tar-Baphon.

Entry Twenty-Seven: After investigating a disturbance that took place late last night, we have concluded that Sandpoint is aware of our operation. This could undermine our plans if they choose to pursue things further. I have decided, at no small expense, to attempt an old ritual called the awakening. If successful, it will leave Sandpoint with enough on their plate to keep them occupied for quite some time.

Entry Twenty-Seven: is the last entry within the journal.

Copied Ledger Note:
“Lost Minimum Wage Guy:” On the seventh page, second entry: The curator of the Quarterfaux Archive’s Museum, which is a subdivision of the archive, is requesting help locating a missing assistant. The contract offers round trip accommodations aboard a merchant vessel to Caliphas and four paid nights at a location of the group’s choice. The contract offers 1,000 gp on completion, with another 1,000 gp if the assistant is returned. The contract is sponsored by the Quarterfaux Archive. The listed contact is the museum’s curator Cynthia Nail.

“No More Squatters:” On the sixth page, first entry: A request to investigate and eliminate suspected cult activity north of Caliphas, in Ustalav, stands out as one of the higher paying contracts. The contract provides comfortable round-trip travel and accommodations at the Vodavani Lodge for the group’s entire stay. The contract offers 2,000 gp upon conformation of the cult and another 6,000 gp if they are eliminated. The sponsor for the contract is the Royal House of Ordranti. The listed contact is Lord Leopold the III.

Later that morning, Govrina cautiously comes down the stairs, fully packed and her cloak’s hood pulled far over her skull’s obvious display of outerwear.

Seeing the Calistrian sitting and talking to others, she felt compelled to join, for now. Politeness…protocol or something…

Nervously, she approaches.

”May I sit? I don’t want to disturb if it will disrupt your conversation. I just need a place to sit…and think about what happens next. I left home to explore and experience the world, but not like this…”

Spoilered to hopefully keep things straight. I'm just guessing who's involved in the first one.

Breakfast at Garridan's (Govrina, Gravi, and Talienda):

Talilenda looks up, her eyes widening in surprise as she sees Govrina for the first time.

"No, you're not disturbing anything at all, at least for me. I suppose your the one that Alina told me about yesterday? I was hoping I could learn more about what happened. From what Master Magravi has told me, it appears that our situations may be connected."

What's up Doc? (Wayilant and Alina):

"I can't say it was enjoyable, considering the circumstances, but I know it was far better than many in my situation have endured." Alina says. "If you do visit one, I'd recommend bringing some treats with you. The children will adore you while you're there."

She obeys and stands up, slowly putting more of her weight on her injured foot. She winces slightly as it takes most of her weight, but it doesn't appear that it's any worse than it was last night. After assuring herself that it will take her weight, she walks around the room a little to see how she fares.

"I think the staff would still be a good idea, but I think I can manage if we don't set too quick of a pace," she says as she sits back on the edge of the bed. She smiles, again. "Thank you Master Wayilant, though I hope you'll forgive me if I say that I hope you never have to display your skill in the healing arts, again."

Pastry Run (Bryndis and Talienda):

Since you said late morning, I'm guessing that Talienda's conversation with Gravi has ended.

"Yes! I even have some coin with me," Talienda says with a grin as she picks up her cloak from where she'd laid it.

Once they are on their way, she sobers and turns to Bryndis.

"Thank you for all that you have done for me and Alina. I know I let you and everyone else down when I ran back here with Ceru, and I hope that you can forgive me for that."

For anyone heading to Sandpoint Savories, I will require a perception roll. Bryndis when you make your roll, please include a roll for the sword. I believe its perception is +2.

"Alright, Echo", the aasimar explains, "you can pick out a fish you like from the Fisher's Market, but it HAS to be something you can carry. We have a busy day ahead of us. And we likely can't wait around for you to eat a flounder bigger than you."

Once in the busy, Wayilant tries to get the attention of one of the waitresses to discuss the broken wine glass.

Well it looks like I dodged the overtime. I'm going to roll with Talienda’s Perception seeing it's more than high enough.

White Deer (Main Floor) : After an extended morning of rest and relaxation everyone eventually makes their way down to the tavern's main room, where you are greeted by a large assortment of the city’s populace. Based on the amount of water running down the inn’s windows, it is apparent that the rain continues but is much lighter than it was the night before. As the room contuse to maintain a steady stream of business, Garridan seems extremely focused on keeping up with the overwhelming number of orders that are pouring in.

From his seat, Wayilant manages to catch the attention of one of the waitresses, who in turn listens to his explanation about the glass. During the process, a couple at a nearby table waves at the waitress as if they require her attention. “The glass is not a problem,” is all she is able to get out when one of the other tables also begins waving at her. In a rushed effort, she quickly excuses herself and then hustles over to one of the two tables.

Before long, Bryndis excuses herself, stating that she is going to head to Sandpoint Savories. It doesn’t take long before the idea of a surgery breakfast catches on, which inspires Talienda to join here. The two head out shortly after the last of the group takes a seat at the table.

Bryndis & Talienda: The cool air, following the storm, invades your senses as you step out onto the inn’s porch. Its entrance, which sits between two hand-carved white birch deer, great’s ever new patron as they enter the establishment. Off in the distance, a vast number of people work diligently clearing debris from the city’s roads and walkways. Talienda (Perception 27): Halfway down Cliff Street, Talienda spots a number of the crew that held her captive, walking towards the White Deer. They seem to be walking casually while talking and laughing about something when one of them makes eye contact with her. She notices the man pause, looking somewhat surprised, and then points her direction.

Looking around the busy main floor, Alina spots the dwarf, who is sitting with a covered tiefling and the calistrian. The handmaiden points them out to Wayilant, and walks over to join them. Alina steps gingerly on her foot as they walk. If only one other chair is available, the aasimar gives it to Alina.
"Good morning, everyone." Wayilant smiles, greeting the newer likely members of The Flagon Slayers. "Hope the rain helped everyone sleep well. Where is our noble lady and bloodrager?"

Startled by such welcoming words, Govrina hesitates a little a too long, and taps her long fingernail on the table nervously before responding.

"I...I guess. I really have no idea where Sandpoint is exactly, except that it is obviously on the Varisian coastline. Where can I go from here? I guess staying with you all can't really put me anywhere worse that I can think of. It's about then that Bryndis comes by and the two of them head off to Sandpoint Savories.

Between Govrina's comment and Wayilant just so casually mentioning that Talienda is a noblewoman, Alina reaches up and pinches the bridge of her nose. She'd been trying to avoid saying her mistress' name where so many could hear since learning that they hadn't eluded Heckna after all.

"What Master Wayilant is neglecting to mention," Alina says with a sigh, "is that milady and I are not from around here, so while he is correct, he probably shouldn't be mentioning it since she has no sway here."

She lowers her hand and looks around.

"But he does raise a good question? Where did milady and Miss Bryndis go?"

No, not obvious, although the cleric does have unique midnight blue eyes. Wayilant's outsider blood manifests as his hair glows with angelic fire. So far it only occurs when Wayilant is in an extreme mood, like angry or highly spiritual. So if things go well with Alina, the handmaiden might be in for a lightshow! ;P

"Where'er she went, Bryndis'll keep 'er more 'n safe," offers the dwarf. Though even as he says it, he realizes that the woman has a bounty on her head. "If ya wanna find 'er though, Nibs might be able ta 'elp ya out!" Muziel's rat companion comes out when called, then starts sniffing around. Muziel gives him a bite of bacon, before speaking to his rat.

In Dwarven. "Listen Nibs, do remember that cat you didn't like? Well, do you think you can find her? There's more bacon for you if so."
@GM--Muziel would like Nibs to try and track their missing allies down using Scent, if that's allowed.

Outside the White Deer
The group approaches the White Deer and then simply glance at Talienda as they take turns walking by her and the Bloodrager. Strangely enough, they seem to be more focused on something other than the sorceress and her outstanding bounty.

Inside the White Deer
The entrance to the inn opens and four shady looking scourges enter the place. Most the conversations throughout the establishment dwindle into a moment of uncomfortable silence. Finally, a well-dressed dark-skinned man steps through the door and begins glancing around the room. After making eye contact with Govrina, he walks across the room towards her table. Upon his approach, he holds up both hands in a non-confrontational way. "I'm here to talk. Nothing more.” He says in a tone that is non-threatening.

Sense Motive (DC 16):
The man comes across as sincere, but the other thugs seem a little anxious.

Those that were at the confrontation outside the Fatman’s Feedbag recognize this group as the ones involved with Talienda’s abduction. For those who have had dealings with the Fatman’s Feedbag, like Gavi, you recognize the well-dressed man as the establishment’s barkeep.

She slowly pulls a copper from her purse and places it on the table in front of her, not intending to start anything, but definitely willing to finish things if they escalate. She decides to push some buttons.

"Then speak if you wish. I'm assuming this is a free city where you can do such things in public. Are you in cahoots with that bastard from the Pixe?"

Outside
Talienda shifts to put Bryndis between her and the thugs. She wonders why they aren't trying to grab her. Then they walk into the White Deer.

"Th-they're after Govrina," she says, guessing why the men are marching into the inn. "Sh-shouldn't we go help," she asks Bryndis, torn between wanting to run away and wanting to do the right thing.

Inside
When the men enter, a cold, bleak look of hatred falls over Alina's face. She says nothing, nor does she move, but Wayilant and anyone sitting on the other side of her can feel the coiled tension winding tighter within the young woman.

After Govrina indicates that she is willing to listen, the barkeep waves off the four thugs that escorted him to the White Deer. “Oh my, where to begin. This thing has gotten so far out of whack that its almost irredeemable.” The man states while the four thugs make their way to the bar for a morning drink.

“First let me apologize deeply for Mr. Vhiski’s poor choice of methods while attempting to recruit you for the Pixie’s Kitten. I was informed about his intentions, and I have to say that I strongly disagreed with his methodology. Unfortunately, the choice was his to make, and now we are in a particularly bad situation with the law. Ultimately, the answer to your question is yes. We are connected to Mr. Vhiski and I’m here to plead with you about dropping your complaint. I realize, at this point, the answer is likely an overwhelming no, but I feel that after you hear what I have to say, there is a small chance you might reconsider.”

“Allow me to start with introducing myself. My name is Gressel Tenniwar. I’m the Fatman’s barkeeper.” He states while pulling over a chair and sitting down. “After speaking with the sheriff, I understand that your complaint is the sole reason behind Mr. Vhiski’s incarceration. He also informed me that you were assisting him with the ongoing investigation into the missing girls. When I heard that, I concluded that I might have information that could sooth over Mr. Vhiski’s recent transgressions. You see, Mr. Vhiski’s business arrangement with the Pixie’s Kitten was in fact a legitimate arrangement, and although you implicated us as being in volved with the missing girls, we are in fact not. I know this because Mr. Vhiski came to me weeks ago and asked me to narrow down who or what might be conducting the abductions. Recently I uncovered some information that led me to unequivocal proof of who is doing this. So, with that information in mind, I’m here to barter for Mr. Vhiski’s freedom.”

Gressel sits back in his chair slightly before continuing. “What I'm proposing is a swap. In exchange for dropping your complaint, I will disclose what I know. I make no argument that Mr. Vhiski is innocent, because I know he’s not, but his crime is somewhat meager compared to what's going on with these girls. In addition, as a show of good faith, I would also be willing to hand over what we know about your other companion’s bounties and agree to back off from any such pursuit. This would also extend a level of guarantee that no one else in Sandpoint will try and cash in on them. And, of course, any such whims Mr. Vhiski had about your employment are simply no longer sought. What do you guys think about my offer?”

Govrina stares at the man intently, and sits up straight. She weighs the pros and cons of the situation, and pulls her hood back to reveal her full heritage. Her red eyes flash with insight as she steeples her fingers together after her thoughts align themselves. She is an open book, as her face smiles with absolutely no impression that she is happy.

"I have three words for you: GO...TO...HELL. If you, or your partner, cared one iota about the missing girls, you would already have told the sheriff about all of this. You simply want to save your skins, and while you had a laudable goal of 'being honest' with me in the minor hope of convincing me to help you, all you have done is made me realize I should just destroy you and your businesses by testifying against you...and then Sandpoint will thank me for stopping those who are aiding and abetting kidnapping! Keeping that information to yourself now, just tells me you and your co-conspirators are NOT to be trusted. And you're idiots. If you had gone to the Sheriff FIRST, I MIGHT have relented and offered you what you wanted. Feel free to go out and about...live your life however you want. But now? You are nothing more than a criminal and a kidnapper's accomplice to me and ANYONE willing to listen to me. I doubt you will have many customers after all is said and done now."

The tip of her tail snakes its way onto the table, and points at the coin she placed there. Her eyes glow red as blue-white mists coalesce around the coin and it slowly flies up a few feet into the air then slams itself into the table, embedding itself in the wood.

"Just leave me and my new friends alone, or you will regret you were ever birthed by your whore of mother."

Mr. Tenniwar takes a slow breath while contemplating Govrina’s response. “Perhaps you misunderstood my intentions. I’m not providing any illusion that this is some sort of redemption, nor was I under the impression you would believe such a ruse, even if I performed it magnificently. You are quite correct in the fact that I offer you the information as a means to an end. A way to reduce our legal expenses, which are sure to come. That said, the legal outcome of your complaint isn’t guaranteed and there is still a lot of litigation that can be argued. In the end, the community will be weighing the fact that he bought a slave from the slave market. How the slave market obtained you, that's their legal fight, not ours. So, even if Sandpoint finds Mr. Vhiski guilty, which is questionable at best, his sentence will likely only reflect buying a slave. Nothing more.”

“Now, as far as the information is concerned, I have spent my entire life here in Sandpoint. I know just about everyone who is worth knowing in this community. Even with that, I had to quite literally presses the limits of my contacts in order to get a handle on what’s going on with these abductions. From where I’m standing, I doubt you have any chance, whatsoever, of figuring it out. With that, I will take my leave. It seems I have some legal arrangements to make. If after chasing your tail on this subject, you decide to be a little more hospitable, you can find me at the Fatman’s Feedbag.”

After finishing the conversation, he stands up and begins heading for the door. His four escorts quickly finish off what drinks they have and fall in behind him. Not long after the conversation concludes, it becomes apparent that a significant number of people are staring at Govrina. Some of them seem simply curious, while a hand full get up and leave without finishing their meals.

Gravi puts down his mug, Well, that was something. As he said he wasn't hopeful on doing any favors, but a quid pro quo. Interesting. Vhiski's ruined for certain, whether he's found guilty or not.

Sense motive on if he believed Vhiski would be convicted, and Tenniwar in general: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

No, he's no real barkeep, it just gives him a place to fleece drunk sailors from their money, and run a bit of smuggling into and out of town. So if that's concluded, we're going out?

Gavi (Sense Motive 21):
You get the feeling that Tenniwar defiantly has some sort of plan B. He seemed overly confident, unlike someone in an unwinnable position. His offer to disclose vital information seemed genuine. During the conversation you caught Tenniwar looking at you in a way that seemed like a distraction.

Gavi (Tallow Boys):
From your recollection of this group’s history, you recall the fact that they recently developed a reputation for smuggling rare Thessalonian relics. Before that, their name wasn’t even on the map. If you had to guess, they were a small gang of Sczarni who dealt in menial crimes. Something happened a little over a year ago that changed their reputation.

The trip to Sandpoint Savories takes you back towards the Pixie’s Kitten. The rain has dwindled down to a drizzle, allowing the locals to take advantage of the change. Main Street, which takes you well past Sandpoint’s Garrison, has become busy with peddlers and cart-merchants that have set up large umbrellas to thwart the light drizzle. Venders selling an assortment of hats, pouches, cloaks, candy-apples, chocolates, potions, salves, tinker-jewelry, baked chicken, sausage and number of odds and ends, beckon for your business as you walk by. Eventually you find the savories shop off to your right as you continue down Main Street.

The sweet aroma of baked pastries fills your nose as you approach, which stands in stark contrast to the salty sea air. The shop’s five-foot display window is filled with eateries that run from highly decorated cakes to cream-filled, chocolate-covered pastries. Sitting off to the left of the entrance, sits four coffee crafts with different types of coffee. Mint, vanilla, chocolate, and dark roast are displayed on small signs sitting in front of each craft. Making your way into the shop, you see a large glass display case lining the fare side of the building, which displays truffles, chocolate wafers, pastries, chocolate covered strawberries, Caramel-chews, which are small wedges of caramel dipped in chocolate, and a large number of powdery-sugar pastries. Standing behind the display counter, a young woman works diligently, restocking the display. “Welcome to Sandpoint Savories. Please, look around and let me know if I can help you with anything.” She says in a warm, greeting tone.

Walking along, Gravi mentions, You know, it seemed like Tenniwar had something else up his sleeve - a plan 'b' if you will. He and his lot have gotten a bump in the last year from a pile of rare Thassilonian relics, perhaps the disappearances are linked to that, and they want us to take care of that problem so they are free to make more money? Huh, it is interesting. Either way, we'll get to the bottom of the missing mostly girls, and keep Vhiski mildly annoyed at being locked up, and not earning coin at the hands of the Pixie's employees. he muses idly, not really directing it to anyone in particular.

Sandpoint Savories:

Talienda spends most of the trip to the bakery looking over her shoulder and worrying about the others. Those men didn't look friendly, even when they didn't have an axe to grind. She keeps close to Bryndis, possibly even too close for the half-elven woman's comfort. The young woman's greeting catches her off guard, and she flinches before turning to face her.

Bluff to pass off her reaction: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14

"S-sorry, I was distracted," she says with a nervous laugh. "This is the first time I've been in Sandpoint, and I tend to get lost in thought when I'm getting to know a place."

Looking through the display case, Talienda's eyes are quickly drawn to the chocolate-covered strawberries.

"Could you tell me how much it is for the strawberries there," Talienda asks as she points to them.

Alina smiles as Govrina finishes up her explanation.

"Miss Govrina, I think you'll find that between two charming flirts, a handmaiden that forgets herself more than she'd care to admit, and an affection starved noblewoman you might get a little too used to being hugged when you needed it, and sometimes when you wish we wouldn't."

Gravi's musings, however, quickly squash any levity she was feeling.

"You don't think he'd try to kidnap Lady Tali-- I mean, milady as leverage, do you," she asks him.
