"Hmph," snorts Teedum, "Finally someone has the balls to do something... Listen, stories about monsters in the woods is nothing new. This town has gone to war with a hag and harpies and even hobgoblins. But, something has got my men spooked, and I can't stand insubordination!" He slams his fist against his desk.

"So, if you can fetch me this killer grey wolf, the one they say can speak and set traps, and bring its stinking rotten corpse to me so I can have it stuffed and mounted in my office, well, I'll give you this..." He gestures over his shoulder to a waraxe mounted on the wall behind him, "It belonged to my grandfather. It's no good at cutting down trees, so it's no real use to me."

Waedin:
You know a Dwarven-made waraxe when you see one. This one seems ancient.

Roll20!

To answers Sebastien's question, let's see... Since arriving at the town of Hearth this morning, you've dropped off Oona, met new friends and found some quests at The Compass Rose, visited Lady Baranova at the Civic House, stood up for Oona at the market, met with Laurel Gabre at Herbs and Remedies, got into a fight in the woods, recuperated for a few hours at Bailey's Smithy, and are now in the Lumberyards gathering information. So, it's well past lunch and is getting late into the afternoon, early evening at this point.

Following Sebastien's confident lead, the group leaves Teedum's office and wanders the Lumberyards, looking for information. In doing so, they do spot a Redrock's thug or two about, but are careful not to go to the Rouge Lady nor raise further suspicion.

Sebastien spots a wagoneer driving a cart loaded with cut timber arriving from the north woods and making its way toward the lumber mill. After a few buttery words, he learns that there are four lumber camps in the woods to the north, creatively called Camps A, B, C, and D. They are dispersed about 5 miles apart from each other, and Camp A is the closest to town at 10 miles. There are some rough cut roads through the woods to follow to the camps.

When asked about the Darkmoon Beast, the wagon driver tells you to speak to Jarlben Trookshavits, the supervisor of Camp B.

So at this point, there's still Drazmorg's Tower to visit, and Oona should have your share of sales ready.

Roll20!

I kinda keep loose track of time, which I'm sure most people do in a medieval fantasy setting. So, things like, dawn, early-late morning, noon, early-late afternoon, early-late evening, twilight, and night. So...

It is early evening as the group leaves the raucous Lumberyards and takes a short trip out of town to visit Drazmorg's Tower, to inquire about the missing lad Vazenko Penchev as well as Glintaxe's journal In the Shadow's of Toil.

The tower lies about a 30 minute walk through the piney woods east of town, which is plenty of time to discuss and consider dinner and lodging options.

The tower itself is a, well, towering edifice made of dark stone masonry, in strong contrast to the primarily lumber and timber buildings of Hearth. It stands some six or seven stories high, just tall enough to rise above the surrounding soaring silverpines. There's something ominous, perhaps, ancient, about the structure. Stone gargoyles perch along the top, looking down from high above. All of its windows are shuttered. A heavy reinforced wooden door seems the only entrance

From my reading of Shemar’s post I felt he didn’t particularly want to go to the Wozard’s Tor. But…here we are…

Ascaede is extremely excited by the prospect of meeting a real wizard, and is particularly impressed by this soaring pile, plonked as it is, seemingly in the middle of nowhere.

Seeing nothing else for it, she walks up to the door, and knocks - either using an especially interesting knocker if there is one on the door, or if not, utilising a sharp set of raps with the side of her fist.

”Helloooo!?! Wizard… Dravgmor? Ah…Drazmorg? Hello?!?”

Roll20!

The door has no knocker. It actually doesn't even have a handle to be opened from the outside.

Ascaede bangs on the heavy wooden door and calls out, but there is no answer. Perhaps she tries again, and yet, there is still no answer.

Just as the group starts to consider that maybe no one is home, there is the muffled sound of movement on the other side, as if several sets of locking mechanisms are being opened. Then, the door cracks open ever so slightly and a pale colored eye peeps out. A diminutive voice asks, "Yes? Who's there?"

Roll20!

Recap of the adventuring day:
Sébastien and Shemar are on the trail of one Druingar the Glintaxe, dwarven explorer, who was searching for "the seal that guards the way back from death". Danyl Konan, proprietor of The Compass Rose, confirmed that Druingar had been in Hearth and had spent most of his time doing research at the library at the Civic House before venturing off into the hills. Lady Dagmara, Priestess of Gerana, confirmed that Druingar had left a copy of his research, titled In the Shadows of Toil, behind, but it was out on loan to Drazmorg the Wizard. Savram, Drazmorg's daughter, confirmed her father had become obsessed with the book and had left in search of The Crucible of Kamus.

Waedin and Stepnik are looking for a young man named Vazenko Penchev, who at last report had found work with one Drazmorg the Wizard. Savram confirmed that her father had lead an expedition into the mountains in search of The Crucible of Kamus, a site which holds the secrets of life and death. Perhaps Vazenko was part of this expedition.

Ustemir is in search of a missing hunter named Barlus Chorton. Lady Dagmara is also concerned after Barlus came to her to bless his hunt. Lady Dagmara suggests that Barlus had planned to use the lumber camps to stage his hunt.

Ascaede is looking for a cure for a strange illness that plagues her monastery. Laurel Gabre of Roots and Remedies is also working on a cure and is in need of ironbloom mushrooms, a critical ingredient. She informs the group to search the Hag Haunted Hollow north of town, and provides a rough map of the surrounding wilderness. Ascaede figures the Hollow lies north of lumber camps C and D.

Meanwhile, the group also decides to take on the hunt for the Darkmoon Beast. They meet with 'Boss' Teedum of the Lumber Consortium, who is most concerned with how these rumors are impacting production. He suggests the group visit the lumber camps north of town. A local cart driver tells Sébastien that Jarlben Trookshavits, supervisor of Camp B, is the best lead.

Roll20!

Sebastien, Stepnik, and Shemar (aka the 3 S's) return to town to collect their pay from Oona and sleep in a warm bed. Ustemir, Weadin, and Asceade opt to camp out in the woods.

Oona is glad to see familiar faces at the end of the day and finalize her contract. She pays your share of the sold loot, which amounts to 19 gold and 5 silver.

By my calculations you found 90.49 gp in Silverpine Watch, plus 40gp as Oona's payment, now plus 19.5gp for loot, nets 149.99gp. Minus the gate taxes from today, which I believe adds up to 30cp, you are left with 149.69gp. Sebastien and Stepnik can purchase any adventuring gear of up to lvl 3, and any non-poison Alchemical items of up to lvl 3 while in town.

In the middle of the night, Shemar's tiny brass dragon familiar whispers in his ear, and the sorcerer mysteriously leaves for parts unknown. He leaves a note for Sebastien stating 'I must follow my destiny elsewhere, good luck with finding Glintaxe!'

In the morning, everyone else reunites and begins the 15 mile walk through the forest to Lumber Camp B.

Let me know about any shopping you'd like to do before moving forward!
